We'd had a really difficult contractor who had been verbally abusive, messy, and didn't finish our renovation in time for us to move into our house....and then abandoned the job. My wife and I had just bought our first home and decided to gut-rehab kitchen & bath, doing a bunch of the work ourselves. We were worried about getting our end done - we should've worried about the contractor who didn't pay subs (who refused to finish work), left big chunks of work until the DAY before we moved in, (on a 10 week project), was unlicensed, verbally abusive and tried to extort extra money from us. In the end, we just wanted him gone, but were worried about legal repercussions of firing him without paying him everything in the contract. Ms Goldman's website helped me learn a lot about the legal aspects I needed to consider, and she even took time to speak to me on the phone, listen to my situation, let me know I probably didn't need to hire a lawyer for the amount of money involved, and even helped come up with a carefully-worded email letting this guy know we were through with him. Because not only he is extremely effective, time efficient and organized - which will save you a ton of money - but also is very down to earth, realistic and has something else I've never seen in any lawyer: the cool factor.
