Andrea Goldman helped us out at a very stressful moment in our dispute with our contractor. I found her by reading her blog and reached out to her via email. We'd had a really difficult contractor who had been verbally abusive, messy, and didn't finish our renovation in time for us to move into our house....and then abandoned the job. My wife and I had just bought our first home and decided to gut-rehab kitchen & bath, doing a bunch of the work ourselves. We were worried about getting our end done - we should've worried about the contractor who didn't pay subs (who refused to finish work), left big chunks of work until the DAY before we moved in, (on a 10 week project), was unlicensed, verbally abusive and tried to extort extra money from us. After feeling so out of my depth with a contractor who clearly knew the system and how to manipulate it, I felt like I had someone with real expertise on these conflicts on my side. At the end of the day, without having to pay hundreds of dollars in legal fees or go to court, we simply sent out our "goodbye" email and never heard from the guy again - hooray!
