Bernie's has some of the best prices for rocks and a great selection. When you go, you can see the selection of rocks on display in trays. They have all sizes and a variety of types and colors. In general, imported stone tends to be more expensive, and domestic stone is much cheaper. The prices are labeled clearly, and there are notes of whether you can purchase by the bag or the cubic yard. If you buy by the yard, you'll need a pickup truck for them to load it. They'll scoop it using a backhoe; each cubic yard is 2 scoops. If you don't have a way to transport it, you can have it delivered for $85+ (depends on the distance of the delivery location). They also have a nice selection of decorative stones and stones that can be used as stepping stones, like flagstone. Every time I go, I want to take all of it home with me, because there is such a nice variety. They also have a little section as you walk in with some stepping stones and stones on the ground so you can see how some of the more popular rocks will look when they are all set out. The staff and owners are also very helpful and there is usually someone there who speaks both Spanish and English. They can give you an estimate of how much you'll need if you tell them the measurements of your space. My tip is to always get a little extra because you might need more than what you originally thought or you'll want some to fill in when the rocks settle or if some get kicked away (for the smaller ones). read more

I went to buy River stone and got Chattahoochee rock. The worst ever product. Much more expensive. And if you are looking a consistent size you won't get it here. Very large stones down to crumb size. I believe what they actually did was rake up all the scraps and sell them as small River stone. Shame on me for trusting that what I was buying was what I actually got. Buyer beware! read more

First time we tried to come to this place they said online that they were open till 3 o'clock but they actually closed at 12 noon. We took the drive to Kramer Avenue almost to Homestead for nothing. We bought several rocks that worked real well in our waterfall. We bought another couple of rocks for the front patio that did not match what we needed. we decided to go back there today on a Tuesday to see if they would exchange the rock that we bought for the front for some thing that would work better and they said yes they would exchange it however, one rock that we brought back we paid $15 for and we selected something other that would go better with our front patio and they wanted $105 for one rock. you would think that a business that had a repeat customer coming back would be a little bit more generous and understanding in the return policy and not try to gouge me on a single rock for $105. I would not go back to this place at all. There are other places around that I'm sure does not treat their customers with such disrespect. read more

Bernie's holds the largest variety of stones, rocks, boulders in the Miami area. You simply will walk and walk and find different subsections with more stuff. They sell their stones in bags, by weight and by load. If you go, pick a stone you like and have them load up your truck. They also deliver for a fee. I like Bernie's because they have ponds and gardens set up. It helps you compare your ideas or your project with the real thing. They are located by the Hammocks and the whole trip feels like a day on the country. They also sell decoration for your garden or patio. The most important thing in Bernie's is to talk to the staff. It's a family owned business and they will help you not only select the right materials, but they will work out the best deal for you. Whether you need sand, mulch or stones, they will figure it for you. And if you are lucky, you may even get a cup of "cafe cubano". read more

Avoid this place if you can Mismanaged and no staff Rude management and no service. The manager and another lady were seen every 10 or 15min. Carrying out food. There should be a server doing this. We waited over 30 min for a table. I was about to leave. Waited for the manager. Asked if I can sit at that empty table now. He said a I need a minute. I said you told me this 20 min ago. He flipped out. He was about to ask me to leave. So I said I'm leaving , before he could complete his sentence. Rude Manager, Not Terrible service. NO Service at all. And let me say there were a lot of empty tables. two tables outside were occupied. If you want to treated like dirt. This is the place to go. I will never go back. And suggest the same to my friends. Under the right management. With some staff. It could be made into a nice restaurant. It is on the water with Great Views of the inter coastal. The manager is too cheap to hire any help. Very Difficult company to deal with. We didn't have a good experience they do not take phone orders so we had to travel far in order to place our order. This place is extremely expensive. The order arrived completely wrong not the correct rocks sizes or quantity we chose. After spending an astronomical amount of $ on rocks. The salesperson we dealt with told us that we could call for additional rocks to be delivered if need be. when we called she was being very unprofessional over the phone and told us that they do not take orders over the phone. Even tough she assured us otherwise. I guess this was to encourage the first sale she just didn't care. read more

I stopped in to by some flagstone to decorate my yard for a pergola. Emily helped me with what I needed and was very professional and knowledgeable and went out of her way to have my delivery for the following day. Big selection and the customer service was great. I only needed 12 step stones for my garden. Large wagons are available for the selection process. After I selected my stones, one of the workers was sent to help me pick them up and carry them to my car. I thought the prices were not a bargain, but reasonable. read more

I don't understand why people complain, they have the best variety of Rocks in south Florida. The place is run by two amazing hard working women that make sure you are well taken care of. If they chit chat is because they are friendly. They gave us great ideas on how to save money by using a thinner rock. All in all great experience read more

Ok.... I'm known & trusted for my "tell-it-like-it-is" reviews sooooo here we go. I've read the complaints about the "chit chat" that maybe is not liked by some customers. Personally, if I'm in a rush, this might irk me too. However, i have not met a more kinder sweeter group of two hard working ladies like Emily & her "sweeter-than-sugar" mom. I even go SUPER early just to "chat" with them. In addition, they are the only company on the south end with the variety of stones competitive with the rest of Miami. People, this is a small family owned and run business. We should be grateful that these two lovely ladies are trying to continue to service this area after the death of their father/husband. He trained them well in the rock business & Emily is truly knowledgeable about stones. Folks, be happy that business owners want to give their customers a personalized friendly service! I recommend Bernie's extensive selection of garden items! Love the Zen items (particularly rocks), special offers (bought home-made organic beauty products), and you "must see" (I got a few) the jewelry line. Every time I do business with them either at the store, or online the quality of their products is the same. If I order online, or in person the customer service is always A-plus. If you plan on adding any sort of decorative rock, rock wall, gravel, waterfall to your garden you must visit this place. This family owned businees is a great experience for both the DIY gardener as well as anyone who may not have a clue where to get started and needs some direction. The staff are very friendly and have great information on the rocks and stones available, one additional benefit is you can bring a photo of the space you are trying to find a solution for and they are happy to make recomendations. They have your basic river rock, crushed shell to the more unique coral rock, quartz, recycled glass mulch and more. Find a hat, put on some sunscreen and go and explore their outdoor showroom. Be really carefull about their delivering and how they are raining stones over your property!! They have above-market prices, I had paid for service and it was really a surprise when they try to deliver in that way. On top of this, the guy driving the truck was really umpleasant when I kindly ask not to destroy my inbound with the stones. I resigned delivery becasuse of this, however they will not re-charged $70 on my credit card. I really can not recomended anyone to buy here. read more

This place may be one of the only places in town for stones of the variety they offer, and if your product is in stock you are in luck. But be prepared for some horrendous customer service if you need this business to help you with orders, in my case they did not have enough of the rock i wanted on site. The owners, in particular, Emily, is an absentee owner. She does not follow up with customer requests, and is frustrating to deal with. I ended up going somewhere else as it wasn't worth the hassle to deal with her incompetence. My order would have been several $$$$ of dollars. read more
