It seems every year and season, the bait/lures etc change since fish learn what to avoid. I am the type of person that needs to ask someone knowledgeable (Jordan) before every fishing trip on what equipment I need. I phone Jordan and tell him where I'm going to fish or I ask him where I should go fishing that day. He then provides his knowledge on how/where and gathers the items I need (specific lures/lines/weight). I then drive over/pay/pickup my order This has made every fishing trip the best. I've recently been to Como and Lafarge lake. Jordan provided the correct spoons/hooks and power bait for different applications I actually went to Larfarge lake a second time approx week later. I didn't think I would need to phone him, but I aired on the side of caution and I did. It was good I called, he said my spoons from last week won't work since the fishes diet has changed due to the insects in the lake changing. He suggested to use salmon eggs or pink spoon which I did. I caught plenty of fish and did noticed the other fisherpeople catching expect for ones using the previous weeks spoons. My next spot will be coal harbour, he recommended steel leader line since I am aiming for catching dogfish. The large hardware stores are zero help and asking random didn't help me. Just phone Jordan, ask where the fishing is (presently it's at the lakes and yes there are lakes in Vancouver) most fishing rods that are beginner perfect sell for $40-$90 and the bait/lures per location are approx $5-$20. Their prices are cheaper than crappy tire I think with an initial investment you will be all set for fishing and as you build your equipment and knowledge, it will be a great sport to learn I would like to thank the Pacific Angler team, though I have only been dealing with Jordan myself.

Their prices are comparable, if not better than anyone online. I was hunting for fly tying materials all over the internet from Maine to Colorado but nobody had stock or were to expensive after shipping costs. Then I found this store. They had everything I'd spent a week online looking for. As soon as I walked in the front door to Todds big friendly grin, I knew I was in the right place. I have been to all of the lower mainland stores, but couldn't find the service and stock these guys provide. When you email them for any advice or stock availibility, they get right back to you too. The longer version: I had to do my PADI cert twice due to administration issues overseas. Comparing my previous experience to Dive Locker, the Dive Locker is way more helpful and professional. They guide you through every step of the process, and it feels like a well-oiled machine. I can't imagine a better way to get your cert (even though the ocean here is really cold). By the end of the program, even students that were struggling had a strong grasp on how to dive. There's no judgement at all. I didn't think I'd enjoy coldwater diving as much as I did, but on my final dive I got to see things underwater I never knew existed here; Giant anemones, massive star fish and tons of cool fish. If you can get through the training and stand the cold, it's definitely worth getting your cert with Dive Locker.

We did the entire 'snowboard alley' of W 4th and this place had by far the best deals. Not only were the prices better to begin with, they also carried more classic styles and colours in jackets and pants that suited my friend's fashion tastes. The staff were really helpful picking out a snowboard that was a great price, European-made and would last him for years. The graphics were pretty sweet, too. The board was freshly waxed and they set it up with the bindings in-store. In addition to already low prices and some sale items, the staff cut my friend a deal since he was buying a bunch of gear. It was the cherry on top! This shop also has non-snow-related sporting gear on the second floor.

When I walked in I felt out of place as most beginner snowboarders probably would feel. It just looked like a small, cramped board shop to me but compared to the other places, I'd take that over the stuffy, boutique type of shops the others seemed to be. Jess at West Coast was very helpful asking me questions to better hone in on what type of equipment would best suit me. She was super informative and didn't pressure me to commit to purchasing anything. In fact, she even told me to go to the other shops in the area to compare equipment and pricing. Pretty ballsy but it made me feel at ease right away. I went to all the other shops and no one made me feel comfortable about being there. Very few questions and assistance. Instead it almost felt like they were uptight because I may not have looked like a typical snowboarder. Needless to say I went back to West Coast and bought the lot, about $1500 worth of equipment. Then I put it to use going up to Whistler the next four days and loved every second of it. The board (Bataleon Goliath) performed great and my feet felt perfect throughout every run. Lastly, I would've given them 5 stars but the person helping my girlfriend with her ski boots was unknowledgeable and not a very big help to her. If you do go to this place go see Jess. Of all the dive stores is the Greater Vancouver, this is one of the two that we use the most (the…read moreother one being much closer to home). The reason is the EXCELLENT customer service. We deal primarily with George and, if we have had any problems (eg a camera malfunctioning or a travel bag's wheels breaking) he has taken the item back immediately. Often they will replace the item or offer a store credit even before checking with the manufacturer if the return is ok. For this reason, we return again and again to purchase more equipment. They have a good selection of everything: wetsuits, drysuits with undergarments, and some novelty sale items from time to time including wetsuits or lightweight neon tropical BCDs. Their regular selection is standard-priced. They sell Mares rather than Scubapro and we bought some new fins, Volo Power, which are lightweight and easy to use at the suggestion of George, and have been pleased with them. Good selection of accessories as well. Dive and Sea also offers instruction, with open-water dives at Whytecliff in West Van, EFR training etc. Although the staff will make suggestions, I have never felt here as if I'm getting a "hard sell". It's a comfortable store and we always look forward to going there, even just to have a look around. (Dive stores are like candy stores, hard to leave without buying something!) To get to this place, you must be heading North on McBride as it's impossible to make a left turn heading south.

He was friendly, knowledgeable, so informative. He would never sell you anything you didn't need. He set us up with some great gear to travel with. Never did we ever feel pressured to buy. He listens your diving experiences and recommends appropriate equipment. Don't buy anywhere else, they are the best.
