MY wife and I live in a large single level ranch style house in Arnold. On February first of this year (2024), during some of the coldest days of the winter, our 27 year old forced air furnace conked out, completely quit. I called a number of HVAC contractors in the area to see what kind of replacements were available and obtained a number of quotes. Paul Bertini, owner of Bertini Mechanical was one of the first to actually get out to the house to inspect the situation. His explanation of my requirements was quick and succinct and he was able to obtain his recommended replacement furnace within a few days and at the most competitive price. He and his crew completed the replacement installation in a day and a half and did a beautiful job with no mess and total cleanup. They even enhanced the appearance of the furnace area immensely by wrapping the appropriate parts of the furnace with a silver insulating wrap that resists dust collection and cleans easily. The furnace worked beautifully from the start and we were able to begin thawing out immediately. I met Paul at the local Ace in Arnold and asked him if he would give and estimate to replace our furnace. He jotted down my name and number, I told him I would call him with the next time I would be up to the cabin. He seemed very interested so I called him and told him when I would be up (for 5 days) and he said he would call and come by on one of those days, That was on about the second of August. To this day I have not heard from him. We are new owners in Arnold and have talked to several people about contractors and most of them tell us it's hard to find anyone that will do what they say. We purchased a home and the day after moving in we had no hot water. The hot water heater went out. We Contacted Bertini Mechanical (on July 4th luckily they answered on a holiday) and explained what was going on. Bertini installed my whole forced air heating system a little over 20 years ago and replaced my furnace 3 years ago. He seemed to do a very good job for both. A week ago, a duct came loose from the heater. I did a very temporary fix on it and called him up to check if my temporary fix would hold and to come out at some later time a put proper fix on it. He quoted me his labor price, asked what kind of toilet I wanted and quoted me a price for that too in the same conversation. We just wanted a standard small toilet and nothing fancy. This family run business is more than conscientious, they are professional friendly and get the bid picture. We realized our furnace was not working while on the east coast. (Thank you wifi thermostat) we called, arranged a service call on the day we flew in. Perfection since the outside temperatures were in the low 40's. Our plane was delayed, Paul came the next day completely unflustered by the delay. Paul and his son took a look, ordered a part, and installed it as soon as it came in. Last year my genius wife found us a beautiful three-floor home near Dorrington, where the snow frequently gets deep, and yet the summers are still blazingly hot. The house was surrounded by snow when we moved in, and pretty much the only source of heat was a wood stove, which actually worked surprisingly well...provided you stayed up all night stoking the thing! Even then, though, you could store popsicles on the basement level. Enter our savior: Paul Bertini! He installed a wonderfully effective heating and AC system (and coordinated the installation of a propane tank from Mother Lode Propane--recommended also) in our home, and it totally transformed our lives. In the winter, a push of a button has the whole house warmed up in minutes, and in the blazing heat of summer, another push of a button cools the place as much as you please. I've heard horror stories of people blowing tons of money installing such systems only to find that they don't heat or cool well enough. Well, Paul installs *powerful* systems that actually do the job! Given that all the ducting had to be done from scratch, Paul did an astonishingly neat job. "Call us for 24/7 emergency service or to schedule an appointment today" My wife made a 2 PM appointment with Paul Bertini Plumbing on Monday, 7/23 for Tuesday, 7/24. We live in Yosemite National Park and drove 2.5 hours to Forest Meadows to meet with Jim at the appointed time. After about an hour my wife called the contact number she had and was told by Jim that he was running behind, but did not say he couldn't come. At about 5 PM Jim called back and stated 'so you don't got no water?' She could tell he wasn't enthusiastic about coming but was left with the impression that he was on the way. About 1 minute later we received a call from Paul, we assume he is the owner of this business. Paul stated, among other things, "there are showers by the pool area and you can buy water", "I'm not going to put my guys on overtime", "I'm not going to be able to figure out what's wrong in 30 minutes. We can't just wave a magic wand and find out what's wrong". After my wife said you expect us to take showers in the pool house he stated, "well that's the best I can do for you". This rate I bought a water heater. I called Bertini to get an estimate for installation alone. No disposal of the old water heater. The estimate was 802 $900. I asked what the hourly rate was and they want and they were not able to give me an answer. So dividing $800 and half still gives a rate of $400 an hour for service. I estimated the install time to be one hour. All it was involved was disconnecting the pipes and reconnecting the pipes to the top of the water heater. And they had no concern but to suggest finding another plumber that was cheaper. read more

Superman arrived to save the day! Paul Bertini, AKA Superman, is my man of the hour. It doesn't get to 97 degrees in Arnold too often but this past weekend it was ugly hot and humid and my air conditioning just up and quit. I hear some of the air conditioning repair guys are running seven days behind...you know when it gets hot... the air conditioners all seem to die at the same time. I called Paul and he came on Monday after 6PM. He had put in a full day and I was the last customer on the list. He could have gone home but he honored his promise to come on Monday. Figured out the problem and ordered the part. The part arrived today and he called to say he would be here by 5PM and called again at 5PM to say he was running late but he would be here. He is a man of his word. He repaired a lot of air conditioners today. He arrived close to 7PM. I was his last customer and he fixed the problem and finally got to go home as it was turning dark. I called and spoke to Paul who is the owner of Bertini Plumbing. I was speaking to him about having the water pressure in my home increased due to low pressure from the Water Company. Paul was telling me about a pump system that would cost $1500.00 not including install. I had a few questions ( Valid Points I Must Add Due To Our Circumstance) when out of left field he accused me of just priming him for info and that I was probably going to do this job myself. Wow! How do you treat a client with such disrespect? He has fixed a frozen pipe at our home and has also fixed my furnace when it would not turn on. We recently had to install a new furnace at our home in Big Trees Village. We chose to work with Paul and his team after receiving bids from a few installers. We were very pleased with Paul and his teams work. They are extremely professional, always try to add value with their work and the work is very high quality. In our case, Paul also recommended that we get a air duct cleaning before he finished the install as our new furnace was pushing out a lot more air than the old and the ducts were very dirty. After we had them cleaned, he arranged his schedule to come out the next day and finish. His install also includes an inspection of all of the duct work in the house for potential air leaks and then he performs a pressure test of the entire system similar to what a building inspector would do. Great added value! He is also very personal which makes the experience of home repairs much more pleasant. We are planning to do some remodel work in our home soon and will definitely be calling Paul and Debbie to help us! I would highly recommend Bertini for furnace and other contractor work. read more
