I've taken my car to 3 different shops in the last 3 months to figure out where a whining noise was coming from. Every single one told me something different and told me I'd need to go somewhere else to fix it. Berube's diagnosed it in 4 hours and fixed it within a few hours of getting the part in. Brought our JEEP for a repair from Carvana. Front desk (Robert) was extremely rude. He would not listen to anything I said and just kept rattling on about Carvana procedure even though I had just spoke to Carvana and he was giving contradictory information. When I asked why he stated he would not work on my car and to come pick it up. When we arrived he yelled at my daughter and then tried to give us the wrong vehicle back. He hid our car across the street and wouldnt even tell us where it was. Stay clear of this ego maniac. No value what so ever in going to this guy. He should be shut down. read more

I called about 230pm to see if my car could get inspected and they were able to squeeze me in at 4pm that day. While I waited, several people who obviously knew Robert (owner) came in to pick up their cars. A good sign that there are returning customers! It took a while, but that was also because my car failed inspection. Robert walked me through what the problem was and assumed that I would take it to the mechanic in Cushing that I had referenced earlier. I appreciated that he gave me the opportunity to shop around. I definitely didn't have time for that though and said I'd just go ahead with him. He was able to fit me in the next day, though only one of the parts came in so it took two days. He apologized for it (it was the part suppliers fault) and honestly, I just assumed it would take forever to get parts, just like everything else right now so I'm still pleased. He gave me consistent updates and has great communication. Berubes offers a shuttle service, which I used and the driver was so nice- we saw a kid fall on the ice downtown and she stopped to make sure he was okay. This place is terrible, I called beforehand to get my battery replaced and they gave me a price beforehand and it was $400 dollars for just a battery replacement and I had already took out my battery myself and when I got there they tried to raise the price even more and when I confronted him about it he lowered it to $400 again and I'm pretty sure it's because I'm a girl. First time visit I was surprised by a greater than $100 fee for an oil change that took 3 hours. Stupidly went back for a transmission issue, they said it was a fluid leak. After a $1200 repair vehicle still wasn't shifting correctly. Brought it back to them and was told it was an internal transmission issue that they couldn't fix. When questioned about if we could have avoided the needless $1200 repair, Bob got aggressive and rude. They are not upfront about costs and terrible about time estimates. read more

I had been told by an unnamed dealership that my wife's car needed a rear control arm bushing. We wanted to save money and knew they'd be likely to gouge us for other things (oops, sorry, you need the whole control arm... and look what else we found... yadda yadda yadda). We went to a local service station, Berube's, and are so glad we did! Not only did we find out the bushing was not needed, but brakes, rotors and tires were. I hate to think what that dealership would have charged, but am sure it's at least 2-3 times what we gladly paid Mr. Robert. We like to shop local and keep the money in the community rather than see it head off to the offices located who knows where. You can believe that we will be bringing our other car here and we'll be back with this one when it's time to renew our inspection sticker. This place is speedy and excellent. The owner took care of me and my car after the windshield wiper linkage on my car broke. He was very good at explaining what they were doing to fix my car which made me feel very comfortable. When my car was done, Bob texted me to tell me the car was ready. When for a check code for misfire and told the guy it wasn't just the spark plugs. He clearly was not listening. He even told us he was calling us to pick up then read number back and even that wrong. He talked over us and didn't listen. We got an 800 spark plug change. Totally was not the use per the code. Beware front desk guy needs to be a good listener or clients will not get what they need done. Plus the check engine light came on when we drove home (10 minute drive). Wasted our time and 800 dollars. Still have issue. Awful experience! read more

Deduced a serious issue 3 mechanics had missed. The starter motor I had replaced at Berube's was the fifth I had put in in two years. They all died the same way. Mechanics were stumped. One told me it could be the gear on the engine that meshes with the starter missing a tooth, but they said checking would be extravagantly expensive. Rob Berube did it in 15 minutes, no problem. No missing tooth. What the problem turned out to be was my bad ignition, which was killing my starter motors. With the new ignition in, my car runs and idles better. Rob was able to get to the root of the problem both my LISTENING to what I was saying, and having a great deductive mechanical mind. These folks are the best. read more

My Ford Ranger pickup recently broke down in Lewiston. My clutch pedal went to the floor and didn't come back up. AAA said this place was nearby and there I went. This was on a Friday night. By Saturday morning I received a call from Berube's saying my truck was in their care and they would soon look it over. They diagnosed a broken bushing on the transmission linkage, grabbed one from a nearby auto-parts store, fixed it and tested it. By Saturday afternoon I was back on the road and pleased, since I was thinking my transmission was broken and it was going to be painfully expensive to fix. read more

I had the starter go in my car at one of the worst possible times. Finances were strapped, and I'm disabled and walk with a cane, making foot travel really challenging.
