One of my fog lights had burnt out. I was a little surprised how expensive a replacement was, even on Amazon. I called VIP to get their price, they quoted me about the same price as Amazon, but the awesome part is, they install it at no charge if you purchase the bulb there (or at O'Reilly's auto parts, in same establishment. It does not matter, VIP charges you and does the installation.) This, to me, was an amazing deal. The fog lights in my car are no picnic to get to. Doing it myself looked like an incredible pain in the ass. Here at VIP, they took me right in, put my car on the lift, and had new bulb installed very quickly. Apparently, they offer many of these small, but convenient, free services. The staff at this location are very customer service oriented. I had avoided VIP for a number of years because most of my business had been done at their Sabattus St. location, and the staff gives you more of that typical, busy mechanics, "we don't need your business" kind of attitude and they assume you are stupid. My recent visit to the Lisbon St. location gave me a whole new respect for this business, and is probably where I will continue to go. Thank you! read more

David at the service desk provided some of the worst customer service on the planet. After noticing the technicians took off more than 5 inches of Tint from my windshield, I asked David if I can borrow a tap measure just to verify my inspection. He told me they didn't have one and that I should go get my own. What a rude bastard. I'll NEVER go to that toilet bowl again. read more

I came in and had my tires done in which I was extremely happy with, they did added that I would need an alignment done in which they refused to do, I asked when would this need to be done and they said within a few weeks, they gave me this paper below and said my tires would definitely need to be aligned, I went to a different reliable alignment and they said even after a month and half of use that my alignment was perfect and I didn't even need one, they will try to get money off of you. read more

First, they took forever simply to put on 4 new tires. That was the best part of my experience. They took me out to tell me my brakes needed changed but apparently we're not aware that I had just had new pads, rotors, and calipers less than 90 days before. So, beware of the ripoff game as it is strong with these places. A couple of months later, I'm trying to rotate my tires and the lugs have been tightened WAY beyond the torque spec. I was eventually able to get 3 of the wheels off, but the last one literally stripped out my lug nut AND torqued so hard on the tire tool that it split the head. There are lots of better options out there. Use them. read more

Unfortunately, I am unable to give them negative stars. When I arrived to drop off my vehicle after being ignored for several minutes, I was finally acknowledged by the shifty looking character behind the desk. He immediately asked me if the vehicle had a check engine light and was clearly annoyed when I told him it didn't. I explained to him that the oil pressure Guage would randomly drop, showing no pressure. If I stopped and turned the vehicle off and waited a few minutes, the pressure would be fine until the next time it randomly happened. After two days, I got a call from them, hoping they were able to fix the issue. Instead, I was told it would need a new motor, and they didn't think I would want to do that because it was older. When I asked what was causing the oil pressure to drop, I was told the tech didn't want to get into it because it was older and had a lot of rust. The vehicle spent almost its whole life in Florida, so it has very minimal rust. So, given no other option but to replace the motor, something I was told they don't do, I went to pick up my vehicle. When I arrived to get my keys, I was charged $169 for the nothing they had done. Not wanting to junk or sell it for pennies on the dollar based on what VIP had told me, I decided to bring it to another local shop. After a day, they called and said it was done. They replaced the oil pressure switch, and it only costs a few dollars more than VIP charged me to almost cost me thousands of dollars had I junked or sold a perfectly good vehicle. I called their corporate office to let them know the terrible service I had received. A few days later, I got a call from the store manager, not anyone in corporate. Who grudgingly issued me a refund but offered no apology and did not seem to feel his staff needed better training or had done anythingwrong. I would avoid this and all VIP locations at all costs. They clearly do not care at all about the work they do or customers they are supposed to service. read more

This place has a bunch of idiots running it I made an appointment on the phone the day before for 1 PM today I got there on time didn't get in my car in the garage until 1:30 PM they didn't start taking the tires off until 2pm! The assistant manager then started arguing with me telling me that I made the appointment online and I kept telling him no I didn't I called and made the appointment I told him that I had show my phone log and basically he told me that didn't prove nothing! They were all swearing and cussing and talking dirty when a coworker walked out of the room they were dissing that coworker! I didn't get out of there until a few minutes before three they were very rude very dirty talking and very argumentative! I will continue going to my other Vip that I always go to in a different town where there is a lot nicer crew there and when you have an appointment they take you when you have the appointment not an hour later read more

I'm torn between 1 and 5 stars. I brought my car in for an alternator change and declined additional inspection for 140 because it was a relatively new Toyota Corolla. After driving about 30 miles my engine started to overheat and I pulled over. The radiator hose was broken right about where the alternator was placed. VIP "investigated" and denied any wrong doing. While it may have been possible that the issue was unrelated to the alternator, I can't shake the feeling that it was their way of saying screw you for denying the inspection. read more

My last car died on me and so it was brought here. They explained what was wrong in detail but with very little mechanic speak(I know the bare minimum about cars) and we're very patient explaining the issue. I'm always skeptical so I recorded and sent it to my dad(he knows a lot about cars). My check engine light came on soon after so I brought it back, they looked at it and told me to take it to the dealership because they could not get to the part they was the issue. I also recorded that and sent it to my dad, he said to get a new car. It's now over a year later(had to save up for the new one) and I brought my new car in for an oil change. Need good service, drive right past VIP Lewiston. They had my vehicle for 9 hours for what was a 4 hour job. I ended up with no alignment as we were out of time. Spent $1,700. Driving away the mechanic yells "hold on" I forgot the inspection. That was why I came in the beginning. Without hesitation jumps in my SUV no gloves, no mask scrapes off the old sticker and slaps a new one on. So much for Covid19 standards published on there door. Do yourself a favor go anyplace else. This shop used to do everything right, now it's just excuses. read more

Being that I'm originally from Lewiston and having a beater for a car, I've had to get my car fix on several occasions. The one time I was actually home visiting the family (well more so for my college graduation party) I hit a nasty pot hole and needed to get a new tire and rim for my car. Every place I went to kept saying it'll be between 300 and 400 bucks to fix and were completely rude about it. As a last resort went to VIP explain my situation to the guy that was helping me. He involved his manager. Low and behold they helped the poor college student out. (keep in mind this was May of 2006) Not sure if the guys are still there or not but they were nothing but amazing when they were fixing my car and understanding that I do need a car to be able to get between Boston and Lewiston. I've been there a couple of other times and the people working there were always nice and willing to help read more

· I got two tires for my sons truck, took the truck for an alignment. Was told the belts in the tires were broken, wife called the Lisbon st store. She was told you guys did not buy the road hazard and that we were on our own and good luck. I called the Sabattus st store and spoke with some one their and he was like wow ok that it is possible that belts do brake. He was like I will have the dm call back and that they would make it good. Talked to the DM he was like no that the belts can not brake and that he needs to look at it and if it was something wrong with the tire he would give us a discount on new tire. thanks VIP for wasting my time. Went in for a routine oil change and some new shock absorbers. Service was as expected and I had no problems as I waited for the work to be done. However, when I got to my car afterwards in the parking lot, the back ends of the rocker panels on my Jeep were dented in 2-3 inches, pretty obviously the result of sloppy alignment of the hydraulic lift. This damage isn't catastrophic, but I was rather annoyed so I brought the manager out to show him and get an explanation. He noted the damage (which neither he nor the mechanic saw before the work was done, since it wasn't there), but categorically refused to believe that his mechanic could have caused the problem. I've had several calls with this manager and the district manager at this point, who offered to try and line up the lift to see if the damage on my car matches the lift arms. But each time I've had these conversations, they're quick to point out that even if it lines up, that doesn't mean that VIP caused the damage, leaving it as my word against theirs. I guess that means everyone needs to take pictures of their car before and after any service is done because otherwise no damage can ever be proven? Additionally, I don't live in the area, so going back and forth to this garage to sort this out isn't really an option for me, which I feel that these managers are using to take advantage of the situation. The bottom line is that this garage caused damage to my vehicle through the negligence or incompetence of their mechanic, and they refuse to own up to it, leaving me to foot the bill for the resulting repair. I won't be returning to this VIP, and I strongly recommend taking your business to a different garage who have the competence not to make these mistakes, and the integrity to own up to them when they do. read more

Had a rear brake job done on my 2011 Silverado because I'm just too busy...usually do it myself. Price seemed high, so before going to the service counter to pick up my truck, I went to the parts counter (same building, 20 feet away) and checked the price of my parts. Rear shoes were $40, and (2) rear drums were $160 ($80/each). Perfectly reasonable, right? Went to the service counter (20 feet away) to pay for my truck service, they charged me $85 for shoes, and $280 ($140/each) for drums. When I confronted the service manager on duty, he would not budge on the parts prices, and said "it's not my fault". If you go there, check the price of the parts at the parts counter BEFORE you go pay for your service! Make your own judgment. If everyone does this, they'll be out of business in under a year. read more

Possibly some of the worst service available. Had brake pads replaced in December, mechanic failed to re-place the pad shims which are always to be reused. Substandard pads were used and required replacement after only 8,000 miles. Service writers are rude and not helpful but will gladly upsell you unneeded services. While their prices may be average, their service quality is bad as are the parts they used on my vehicle. read more

We brought our car in 4 times in 1 month for the same issue. They kept pushing us off because their Technician was "having problems". The 4th time oops "the parts still not in" we need to keep it another day but guess what can't work on it for another 2 days because it's now the weekend and the Technician can't work on weekends. They can do some other work they say it needs. The module shows up but said the Technician could not do the job after they did a bunch of other work. Bottom line the Technician could not unscrew 4 small screws and unplug 3 plugs unless we want to pay for extra time. read more

Went in for a ride rotation and to replace a headlight. They would not rotate my tires, but offered to sell me 4 new ones for around 800 dollars. They did replace my headlight and told me there would be no charge for labor. The bill for the bulb was almost 50.00. Oops, they accidentally charged me for labor but agreed to cut the bill in half to about 22.00. The bulb was just under 15.00. Funny math. I ran away read more

I know a lot of mechanics mark up prices on parts, but VIP wants to charge me $130 for a $40 wheel bearing that they walk into O'Reilly Auto Parts and pull off the shelf. Their parts list estimate came to over $2,100. It was only $1,200 when I priced it all myself. With the $900 savings you could have the work done elsewhere and still have money in your pocket. And their labor rates? They are the most expensive in town. No wonder they offer to go through your car top to bottom and tell you all that's wrong with it, plus more, for free. read more
