My partner had a brain tumor removed and has been going to Las Vegas Neurological Center. The crowds there are a bit intimidating. His surgeon recommended we try Dr Chang and called their office to refer him. I called to set the first appointment 2 minutes after and was told rudely that a surgeons office call isn't a referral and to follow the process and basically hung up. We did get the appointment set the help of the surgeon and went in, filled out loads of paperwork and got taken back to see the doctor. The PA told us that they do not handle tumor patients and second opinions (which I'm not sure we are) and apologized for the staff and told us they had all been fired for rudeness. The PA told us to " do our homework" on getting a neurologist and I reminded her they needed a referral and could they refer us to a doctor that handles tumors. She said no unfortunately. Dr Chang never entered the room. Not even to apologize for wasting our time. Perhaps Dr Chang is a capable professional. I have my doubts after having so much trouble dealing with the staff she relies on to work with her patients. read more

Was called just before Christmas, while I was at work, to set an appointment, caller was very rude and uncooperative when I explained that I was at work and could not take down the appointment information. She also could not, or would not tell me the cost so I could make sure to be able to pay them. Because of this I did not wish to make an appointment at that time. When I called back after the holidays to make the appointment, I was told that due to my "disposition" on the original call, they refused to allow me to make an appointment. Good! Terrible. Staff is extremely rude, and when called on their behavior, they don't like it. But, instead of talking to the patient directly, they call the patient's primary care doctor and tell them they decline to see the patient due to "disposition on the phone." Further, they flat out lied to the primary care Dr. They asked if care had been established with another neurologist. I told them no. And why that was the case. I'm not sure where all these crazy reviews are coming from. This Office and Dr have been nothing but amazing to me. Starting with the front desk girls and making appointments. Roxanne is super sweet and even went through several different dates with me to make sure I can make an appointment and even rescheduled me three different times after that because I had to cancel. They were never once rude to me about it. Then there is Michael who did my EEG. He is hilarious and made me laugh. He is funny and sarcastic which put my nerves at ease. He explained everything to me with great detail! He even took a pic for me when i asked since i looked funny with all the wires. Then nurse Unique is fantastic! She's friendly and super sweet. She explained my blood pressure to me and assured me it was good and that all my vitals were good. Then Dr Chang. She is extremely smart and intelligent. She is very thorough and explained everything to me about neuropathy and MS. She also explained my entire MRI scans and showed me my brain in detail. She wanted to do all the test to rule out all possibilities with my symptoms. I'm so grateful for her. I went back for several different tests after my MRI. She conducts the nerve tests herself unlike most drs that have their nurse do it. I loved that she did it all herself and promised me it wouldn't hurt. Ha. Which it didn't. She talked to me the entire time and helped me feel comfortable. It was such a great experience from front desk staff to nurses to the medical secretary that deals with insurance, i think her name was Misha. They were all super nice and assertive. When I asked if I could schedule an appointment I was treated badly and was asked what the appointment was for in an extremely bad manner. My wife was her patient since she had a stroke 6 years ago,. Just 10 days ago, she had an appointment at 12:45 pm. We checked in, filled up all forms and gave them the insurance cards. We arrived her office at 12:30 pm and by 1:pm, we had not been called in while the other two 1: pm patients already enter her examination rooms. When I asked the front office girl: when is she going to see my wife? The officer manager (I believed) came out and told us to find another doctor without giving us any reason. She wouldn't let us speaking to Dr. Chang too. They tried to force us out of her office. Dr. Chang is an excellent doctor, and her staff is amazing. I saw a neurologist a couple years ago for migraines that were getting worse. He sent me for imaging and put me on numerous oral medications that all made me sick. I eventually heard about Botox for migraines and found a different neurologist to try it. The Botox worked wonders, but the neurologist was very aggressive with his injections and his staff was terrible. I went to see Dr. Chang and the first thing she did was review my prior imaging and records. When I went in for my appointment she inquired about my cervical stenosis. I was caught completely off guard and had no idea what she was talking about. She showed me the report the original neurologist never showed or discussed with me and sure enough, my imaging indicated stenosis in my cervical spine. I had absolutely no idea. She suggested we use Botox injections in the spine as well as the migraine protocol. The injections worked wonders! My migraines are completely gone and I no longer have neck and shoulder pain that I always thought was from stress but was actually caused by the stenosis. I can tilt my head straight back for the first time in probably a decade. Dr. Chang was the only doctor to take the time to review records, give me a diagnosis, and offer proper treatment. I see reviews about her bedside manner, and I agree she's not a Chatty Cathy, but who cares? She's a fantastic doctor, she's very thorough, and she knows what she's doing. Also, she does warm up over time, and anytime I ask a question she explains or educates me. At my last appointment she even walked me over to an anatomy chart and explained what was going on. She's never been rude or demeaning, she's just not a big talker. Her staff is also fantastic. My new insurance was an absolute nightmare, but her staff (especially Gabby) worked tirelessly and wasted a significant amount of time on the phone with my insurance for months until my treatment was approved. First, I'd like to rate Dr. Chang's practice with no stars, but that is not an option, thus the upgrade to a single star. With less than 24 hours notice, Dr. Chang's staff canceled my husband's post massive stroke neurology appointment because they could not obtain his medical records from the hospital where he was treated (records that I had not signed a release on, so of course the hospital could not provide; I was never asked to sign a release to make this document transfer possible). This appointment has been on the books for over 3 weeks so ample opportunity existed for Dr. Chang and her staff to let me know that I needed to obtain the records myself (which I am happy to do, but which requires more than half a day's notice). Having worked in public health sector since the 90's, I'm very familiar with the process and, again, would have been more than happy to have secured records had I been asked. When I asked the staff how we could work around this so my husband could see the doctor, I was told I could find another neurologist and then the gal promptly hung up on me! Yelp friends, please ignore the disjointed nature of this review; I'm fairly emotional because this appointment was literally a life and death one for my husband. The lack of care by Dr. Chang's staff is startling and, obviously, I don't want this team anywhere near my husband. I would highly recommend reading reviews & changing your mind about coming to this office. My husband & I had a terrible experience and got completely mistreated for a mistake they made. My husband waited for a referral for this office, when finally receiving our referral, got a call to schedule a appointment a week from that date. A day before we called the office to double check on his appointment time, come to find out whoever he spoke to, the appointment wasn't made. We asked how do we not have an appointment when we've spoken to someone a week ago to schedule etc etc. He gets cut off a few times and placed on hold maybe 3 times. With the frustration of the situation and no help, the receptionist we spoke to she then says with such sass, "Well what time works best for you next week?", by that point we asked to speak with someone who wasn't going to be rude or cut us off. She then says "Well if you don't want to schedule with us go somewhere else, have a good day". Hangs up. We try to call back, no one answers. I call from my phone no answer. Ridiculous. We asked to speak to someone who wasn't going to be rude & help us get an appointment and tell us why don't we have an appointment when it was booked a week from today. We live 5 mins from the office so we decided let's just go down there talk to a manager to help us & get our appointment situated when it was suppose to be tomorrow (11/03/2022). We go & it just got worse from there, it felt surreal. We go down there, ask to speak to a manager. The manager comes up rude & aggressive for whatever reason. We tell her why we're here & what happened. Cuts us off to say "Well I sit by the lady that you were talking to & she wasn't rude. Actually you were." My husband goes to defend him self because he wasn't rude to the girl, he was upset of how he was treated & the confusion with the appointment with no exclamation or given the time of day. At that point you could imagine it doesn't get better. While this confrontation is going on a doctor in that office comes up to the right side behind the office and says "We'll now you're not going to get one". When it came down to the appointment I said "We'll isn't it your job?" Their employee called us to schedule our appointment & now there isn't one? That doesn't make sense. After that, she had it out for me. She then checks his account to see that the referral was received & that someone did call but now it saying we didn't call them back? When that was false& it states in our call log we did our part. My husband the trooper that he is, still wants an appointment because he is sick& eagerly wants to be seen. I then whisper to him of what the doctor said & that at this point we should go somewhere else. I couldn't take the mistreatment we were receiving. She hears that & tells my husband I think you should go else where because she doesn't want you to go here. I looked at her dumbfounded. He then said I don't care I need to be seen, I just want an appointment that's all. I've been waiting so long already. She then refuses service & says the same thing she said. He then ask, "So can I get an appointment?" She says "No go somewhere." We stormed out. We've filed a complaint through Nevada State Board of Osteopathic Medicine & I do hope it helps people rethink visiting this office and to prevent mistreatment/ disrespect to people in the future. I've been to other neurologists, but Dr. Chang is my favorite. Her office staff is pleasant and takes care of things quickly. Dr. Chang is efficient, explains things thoroughly, and has always treated me kindly and with respect. She is brutally honest, which I appreciate in a doctor. My sister is a patient with Dr. Chang. For the first time, I felt like a doctor really listened to us. I found the staff and Dr. Chang very personable and knowledgeable in everything they do from insurance approvals to the latest in medicine research. I am a nurse myself, so I can definitely vouch that Dr. Chang and her staff deeply cares about her patients, and centers the care around what is most reasonable to their lifestyle; making managing their disease process on their own more approachable and attainable. By far the worst staff I have ever spoken too. I was on hold for 10 mins trying to make an appt, but due to billing that I was unaware of, they won't make me a follow up for my seizures unless I pay the balance off. The supervisor told me, "they hadn't had a chance to call me yet." The ladies on the phone were by far the most disgusting & rudest people I have ever talked to and met. They all sit in the front talking about patience information and their opinions about them (negative ones), their personal life like where they get tattoos as I'm waiting to check out, as well as they do this all the time, so I'm sure I'm not the only one. The Dr. she's a whole other level of HORRIBLE!! She's not personable, won't even look at you, all she does it literally look at the paper in her hand or looks at it in the room while talking to you, she has never looked at me while I talk to her. You talk to her about what you're there for (seizures for me) and she doesn't listen, just write prescriptions for what she thinks is best, tells me to follow up in a month or so for her to just do the same thing write prescriptions. She is all about money. She just gives medicine and that's about it. There is no talking to her about your thoughts and opinions. She doesn't listen. She is all about doing unnecessary test for no reason at all, besides to charge for. I came in due to seizures and she's testing me for carpel tunnel (I could of told her that.) Once she's done all these unnecessary test and she has no way of making money off you besides writing the prescriptions and getting paid off of those, and literally treats you like sh*t after. The "supervisor" told me to find another neurologist and I will be sent to collections, and hung up on me.. Please believe the reviews. We decided to give her a chance and unfortunately, that did not pan out the way we'd hope. I will say the receptionist and the medical assistant, I forget his name, were friendly and the medical assistant was very genuine. But as far as Dr.Chang- Very arrogant and rude. Me and my boyfriend went in for a consult for him. She didn't even acknowledge me in the room. Laughed at everything we were telling her as if she was all high and mighty, even laughing at previous exams/experiences we explained to her- as if she knew everything and we were missing the punch line. I'm sorry, but If a patient comes to you frustrated after going to several doctors, and trying to eliminate medical dx, you don't laugh in their faces. My boyfriend even tried to continue to ask questions in the room and she kept on walking out of the room, as if to end the exam. The exam took less than 5 minutes. Waste of money and time. Literally paying for a doctor to laugh in your face. Also, some receptionist from the back of the office was extremely rude and butted in the conversation when we were attempting to schedule the EEG. Save your time, see a different doctor. She is very rude, and doesn't look a you. she rushed through my "exam" if you want to call it that, then ran the EMG my orthopedist ordered. This is probably the worst doctor's office I have encountered in my entire life... & I have been around A LOT of doctor's as I have worked as a student in the medical field throughout the time I attended college. One of the ladies that works at he receptionist desk (sits on the left) is so rude and literally laughed in my face when I asked her if i could call and have my CT scan faxed over at that moment, after there was a miscommunication. As she laughed in my face she told me it takes 2 hours to 2 days for that to happen, so I then had to cancel my appointment for that day. I immediately went to the hospital to try to get a copy of my CT scan...... it took less than 10 minutes, not 2 hours let alone 2 days. I returned to the office to give them the CT scan and the rude lady chimes in and tells me that they need the actual dictation from the ER doctor, not my CT images... So for the 2nd time that day I had to go back to the hospital and retrieve those records (also took less than 10 min). They did allow for me to call at the end of the day to see if any appointments had cancelled, which they had, and I was able to get an appointment the next day. Fast forward to the next day: Finally got in to see Dr. Chang, who spent a total of MAYBE 5 minutes with me. During these 5 minutes she cut me off while I was talking multiple times and barely even asked me any questions. She told me I needed to get an MRI and EEG, which is when I told her that I had already gotten an EEG and my doctor's office had sent the results over. She went back and forth with me and said she didn't receive them before she went out and yelled at her office staff for not including my results in my patient file.... But then never returned to my room & went on with her day. **THE ONLY POSITIVE WAS HOW NICE HER ASSISTANT WAS BEFORE I LEFT THE OFFICE, I WISH I COULD REMEMBER HER NAME. ** Fast forward again to today: My MRI was scheduled so i called back today to schedule my follow up appointment.. and they proceed to tell me that since Dr. Chang didnt perform my EEG that she doesnt want to see me since the treatment would be attached to her name. The guy said that she said I need to go back and see the doctor that performed my EEG..... I then proceeded to explain that I didnt see a doctor for my EEG as it was an at home 72-hr test. He still told me that I needed to see the doctor that performed it. SO BASICALLY, WHEN DR. CHANG SAW ME FOR 5 MINUTES AND I LET HER KNOW THAT I HAD ALREADY HAD AN EEG SHE HAD NO PROBLEM WITH IT, BESIDES THE FACT THAT IT WASN'T PUT INTO MY FILE. BUT NOW ALL OF A SUDDEN ALMOST 2 WEEKS LATER THERE IS NOW AN ISSUE?!?! This doctor and her office staff are ignorant, unprofessional, incompetent, and rude. They refused to treat my husband, refused to give all of my husband's medical records and destroyed our property! My husband was referred him to Dr. Bess Chang, D.O, by his PCP. From the moment I called to make the appointment, mistake after mistake was made. When my husband showed up for his appointment, he was told that he could not see the doctor, he could only take the EEG test. So, he had the EEG test done, and was given an appointment two days later. He also gave them the DVD from an imaging center with the CT scan of his brain. At his next appointment, a Medical Assistant, came into the examination room and began to ask him questions. My husband is a psychotherapist with over 25 years of experience, so he was expecting questions regarding his symptoms; some type of memory test. Instead, this assistant asked him if he needed assistance with bathing himself, and if he needed assistance using the toilet. He recognized them as questions regarding the ability to perform ADL's (Activities of Daily Living) which he has no problems performing. He resisted answering the questions because they were irrelevant, especially since he sent in that description of his symptoms. He asked her why she was asking him these questions instead of administering some type of memory test such as the MMSE (Mini-Mental State Examination). After he balked at answering her second question, she insisted that she was asking him questions about his memory then proceeded to argue with him, interrupt him, talk over him, behaving in a manner that he described as "bullying." Once she realized that my husband was not going to back down, she told him that she would not let him see Dr. Chang, then left the room. He came back into the lobby and asked to see Dr. Chang herself. He was then told by the staff that she was refusing to see him, and they asked him to leave. I called their office, within the same week, asking to have copies of his entire medical record, and they said they would mail it. Later that day, it occurred to us, that he did not get back his DVD. Therefore, I called them to let them know that I would be coming to their office to pick up the DVD and copies of his medical records. About forty-five minutes later, I got a call back from their office letting me know that they had shredded the DVD, there was no need for me to come. I told them that I would come anyway to pick up hard copies of his medical records. When I arrived, someone whom I assumed was an office manager, confirmed that they made a mistake by shredding the DVD, then handed me a few sheets of paper that was supposed to be his medical records. She admitted that it was a mistake. Someone on her staff shredded the DVD because "he is not a patient." Well, they charged his insurance for the EEG test, so that makes him a patient. She was brusque, condescending, and didn't seem to think anything of the fact that they had destroyed our property. Since all we got was Dr. Chang's 2 line summary, saying nothing, later on that day, I called back because we wanted the raw data from his EEG test to take to another neurologist for a second opinion. They rudely refused and hung up on me. Dr. Chang clearly runs a shoddy operation. Her staff is poorly trained, and unprofessional, yet arrogant and unempathetic. Clearly the tone for this office is set from the top. Dr. Chang doesn't care enough to actually face a patient who is questioning something one of her staff is doing. Her office says that my husband is not a patient, but they charged his insurance for the EEG test they administered, so that makes him a patient. She refused to treat my husband who was her patient. If you ever get referred to her, don't even call, find another neurologist. read more

I have to give Dr Chang and her office the highest rating because they earned it. I first saw her in 2015 and her diagnosis led me on the road to getting better. I've had wrist surgery for carpal tunnel and back surgery for the neuropathy in my legs so I am pain free for the first time in years. I returned to her this year for a follow up and the testing still shows some impingement in my left wrist so I am able to stay on top of my health due to her attention to detail. She's always cared about my health and for that I am very grateful. Her staff have always treated me with kindness and have remained on top of all the scheduling for tests and follow ups that I've needed to do. My husband and I both go to Doctor Chang for different issues. I want to fist state that Doctor Chang is AMAZING! the 2 stars are not for her , but for the office staff she has continues to employ. I make our appointments and speak with the staff. When I made my first appointment I was spoke to as if it was a bother to help me. I chose to ignore this due to Dr. Chang excellent references. Tho the staff has continued this treatment, we still come back, but ONLY because of Dr Chang! When speaking to the office manager about the rudness of her office staff she stated that she could make sure we were both not patients any longer. When I insisted on an appointment to talk with the Doctor about her threats, I received a call from a man who stated he was above the office manager and he was instructed to call us. This situation was worked out, but ONLY because we were going to speak with the doctor! Now we find ourself in another situation with Dr. Change staff. Dr. Chang wrote orders for my husband and I. The orders had our names switched. I contacted the office and was assured they would correct these immediately and fax them right over. They never faxed them and I called from our other dr. Office and they faxed 2 new orders and BOTH were messed up. I called again and they fax 2 new orders with mine done correctly and my husband's changed and wrong...lol! I called and spoke with the same woman ever time and she continued to either not fax them or fax incorrect ones. IT HAD BEEN A MONTH AND THIS WOMAN HAS NOT CORRECTED MY HUSBAND'S ORDERS. The office staff were these orders are going cannot believe the total incompetence that has been shown. I called again today and asked to speak with the man who is over the staff, Mike. I was told by Ashley that he was not in today and would be in tomorrow. I explained that their recording stated they were closed on Fridays and she stated " No, that's not correct". I asked her to have him call me tomorrow or I would personally come down to speak with Dr.Chang. Ashley responded that Dr. Chang would not be back in the office until the 29th and then preceded to say she would relay the message. We love Doctor Chang, but do not understand how an excellent doctor can continue to employ such incompetent staff. We are moving and will miss Dr. Chang. A note to Dr. Chang and staff, please take note that one day your staff will mess up and kill someone and unfortunately you will be held liable. This is not an if it is a when and it could be averted by not allowing your staff to run wild. read more

If I could give negative stars - I would. My husband was a patient of Dr. Chang's for his epilepsy and she stated to him in person, while I was there at his appointment with him, that he will be on his meds the rest of his life and may not be able to work. When he was a bit disturbed by this (what 30 year old man wouldn't be), she told him that what he has people die from. Now that he is calling to get a letter stating what she said - she is saying she never said that. Not my fault that we wait over an hour past our appointment time at EVERY visit and she sees the patient for 2 minutes max and is so terrible at her job that she does not document what was even said. But we will pay the price because now they are saying that we will have to see a different doctor to get that letter - and all I heard was I need to spend more $$$ because your office and the doctor is incompetent. I have worked in customer for years and this doctor and her office staff wouldn't know good customer service if it slapped them in the face! read more

Terrible. Had our referral consult yesterday. My mom is elderly and is really suffering with involuntary jaw movement. They took us nearly an hour late, no apology. The doctor never once introduced herself to my mom, never used my mom's name, and didn't even acknowledge me, in the room with her because my mom is very weak and hard of hearing. Despite filling out pages of new patient paperwork, the doctor had no clue as to my mom's recent history. Her recommendations were all over the map -- everything from seeing a dentist to stopping all meds to a brain MRI. She concluded by wandering off to her next appt. Total lack of empathy for the patient's well being. Best I can say is she referred us to other doctors who might be better. Very frustrating. My mom and I left in low spirits. I keep seeing comments about the staff being terrible w all the rules about payment. That comes from the top. Arriving at my appointment with at least 8 patients waiting in the waiting room for only her made me realize who I was trusting. Then I see her and she clearly hasn't reviewed my mris until that exact moment, she looks for a second and says she doesn't know what the radiologist is talking about. Do not use this doctor! All of the negative reviews of both her and her practice are accurate. Dr. Chang only wants to order multiple, unnecessary tests that are ordered for maximum reimbursement for her office, and she refuses to answer even basic questions unless you complete the tests. Her communication skills are non-existent, she speaks negatively about other neurologists (including the ones that saved my life!), and her office staff (Michael and Misha) should be fired. They are hostile and arrogant, and their communication style is condescending and actively assassinates the character of the patient. It is not her strong personality that is the issue; ultimately, it is that she is as interested in you and your medical problems as she is the linoleum on her office floor. Do not waste your time or money; you'll only being paying for the privilege of being treated like a nuisance and an idiot! read more
