However, recent events have brought many questions along with a lot of frustration to light. A bit of history: our house was built in late 1988. In April 2015 there was a significant hailstorm that our area experienced. Our roof at the time was obviously quite old, but the impact from the hail did it in. Under the recommendation of our insurance office, we contacted Strata Roofing to repair the roof on our 2800 square-foot home. In August of 2015 the roof was completely replaced. Fast forward now to July 2024. It's been 9 years since our roof was done, but Hurricane Beryl had other plans for us. An 80-foot tree fell, crushing the back part of our detached garage and eventually landed across the yard, damaging part of our main structure. Besides the partial rebuild of the actual house and garage, obviously our roof needed to be repaired. Only about one-third total of the roof needed to be replaced, but since our current contractor found that our shingles were no longer available, we decided to replace the entire roof to avoid having two different colored shingles. And this is where the truly alarming part of the story occurs: what a shock when we found that multiple areas of the decking (wood below the shingles) had huge (and I mean HUGE) holes in them, as well as some areas that had no decking at all! Now, multiple smaller holes are not uncommon from what I understand. But one hole that measured 3 feet by 2 feet? Or large enough to fit a child through? And a piece of missing decking altogether? Which leads us to speculate: did these holes occur prior to the roof being replaced by Strata and they just shingled over this deteriorated wood, ignoring the obvious need for replacement? Or did these holes occur after the roof was replaced, with shingles being inadequately applied resulting in water seeping under and then rotting out the decking? None of this, however, would explain a completely missing piece! Whatever the reason, it's obvious, in our opinion, that Strata did not do a satisfactory job in replacing our roof a mere 9 years ago. Fortunately, most of the holes were in areas that were above the soffits, so any leaks that may have resulted did not impact our interior. But one of the holes (the one the size of a child) was right above our kitchen breakfast area and the other 3' x 2' hole was above our attic, which probably did leak into our attic insulation. In all, our current contractor stated that it's normal to replace one to two partial pieces of decking using about one large piece of plywood. We, however, are on plywood piece number 5. Yikes! We thought Strata did an admirable job in 2015. Wow, were we fooled. We now believe that either Strata slapped up shingles without any thought of further roof repairs or something else went terribly wrong with their installation. Whatever the cause, I can't get beyond the fact that our original roof lasted 27 years and this one lasted 9. That is quite a difference. Be advised.

They were not the cheapest or highest, but their work looked better than most of the other roofs put on by other companies. John H came out to the house and I got a quote a few days later we were not in a hurry because we already had underlayment on the roof that was supposed to be good for 1 year. The roof has been on for several months and a few good storms with winds up to over 45 mph with no issues. A good rain does clean the dust and pollen off the roof and it looks new again. They were willing to wait until I got bricks on the house to finish installing the downspouts for the gutters. Had Berridge Double-Lock Zee-Lock Panels installed that were made onsite that took several days to install. Looks great after several months. I have recommended Strata roofing to anyone looking for a new roof that ask and I don't recommend many of the people that I have worked with or others that I have seen their work. As fate would have it I happened to notice Colony Roofing & Exteriors,LP Truck parked in parking area near my home. I waited for Sales Rep Steven F. to return to vehicle to approach him to schedule roof repair. I was glad to see him because making direct contact with company rep might ensure I get issue with roof resolved sooner rather than later. I explained to Steve the issue with roof & showed him pictures of roof damage. He took my information & promised to get back to me. Never in my wildest dreams did I expect that I would hear from him that very evening. He explained a roof install scheduled for weekend was postponed due to rain forcast over the weekend. Steve notified he prioritized my roof over other customer's scheduled because my roof issue involved water damage which would worsen if left un treated. What a great guy Steve is & thoughtful to boot! Today as promised Steve & crew of 2 guys arrived at my home before 8:30 am to began roof repair. Steve explained the decking on roof was rotted & needed to be replaced. Steve stated the decking would be nailed to the effected area of roof to support roofing materials to prevent water leaks. He stated ice water shield would be installed under new shingles to prevent further water damage. Steve covered all the basics before worker's commence roof repair even inquiring whether gutter guy leveled the gutters because he stated if this step wasn't completed it would be useless completing roof repair because roof water issue would persist whenever, it rained. I was pleased with job the roofer's did with house roof. Steve is friendly & very knowledgeable about roofing process & industry. The roofing job for the effected area 3ft x 2ft costs 600.00 which I didn't think was unreasonable for the amount of work completed. On Colony Roofing & Exteriors, LP Work Order notes roof repair is warranted for 2 years which I thought was decent. I would have given Colony Roofing & Exteriors 5 stars but had one small un addressed concern but over all the worker's did a great job. I would re hire this company for any Roofing issues I had in the future.

The fact that Marcus is an Eagle Scout is another bonus! On the day of the job, they gave a courtesy call before their arrival and showed up on time. They protected the lawn with plastic banners while washing. They treated the exterior walls of my house with some solution that completely took out the spots and kept the bricks intact. The before washing and after washing comparison was just amazing! Great job! I am so glad that we used them. Their pricing is quite competitive. It's the not the cheapest that you can find online, but for the quality and insurance aspect, I think it's an awesome deal and would definitely recommend them to anyone. We will use them again!

The owner, Tim Kana, walked my roof and gave me his estimate on a contract. At a subsequent appointment, the details of the work were discussed, in person and Tim Kana understood and wrote everything that I required in my contract and signed it. The materials were delivered the morning of the work, but the drip edge material was not the one specified in the contract. The application of the shingles was not applied with the contracted Texas Wind Code required 6 nails per shingles, even after I contacted Tim Kana during the application. The application of the drip edge was not nailed into the wood decking in many places. The mis-aligned starter strip adhesion will not stick down and will thus fail to meet GAF requirements. The ridge vents were incorrectly installed with mis-matching pieces, exposed nail heads. and ragged roof caps. His workers caused damage to my existing aluminum facia board covers which was not repaired, even though Tim Kana specifically agreed, in his writing, on our contract that he would be responsible for any of that damage. Post installation, Tim Kana was presented with pictured proof of before and after damages to my existing aluminum facia, showing new nails from his crew's nail guns, damaging my facia. Subsequent requests to address problems were only met with profanity and Tim Kana would not honor what he wrote in our contract. All-in-all, the specified installation and resulting quality of work was poor, so and I doubt the GAF warrantee will be honored on this Texan Roofing installation. The written Texan Roofing contract warrantee is not worth the paper it is written on and will not be honored. Avoid. Your response is, untruthful, as your words and actions have been in the past. When you respond "My roofers are 100% sure that the fascia damage you are mad at wasn't caused by them", they were only afraid for their jobs. I have audio of your crew foreman admitting that they caused the facia damage with their nail guns, and could fix it, but you remain in denial. The pictured damage was presented to you the following day after your crew left near dark. I sent you a certified letter that you avoided, like a summons. I showed time stamped pictures of my facia before and after showing damage from new nails matching your nail guns, presented to you in my BBB complaint. Its criminal when you do not abide by what you write into your customers roofing contracts. When you deny the pictured facts, it only confirms your poor reputation. No one should trust Texan Roofing and Tim Kana to modify their home when he will not honor their written contracts and you do not know what you will be paying. The facts are irrefutable. Potential customers should take note of the way you run your roofing business and that you did not and may not honor your future written contracts for installation or warrantee. You will regret using Texan Roofing and Tim Kana

We frustratingly, went back and forth with them for 5 or 6 months with a lot of promises but no cleaning. I called Roy and explained the situation. He promptly had his man come out and quote us a great price. Much lower than our original roofer. They came out and cleaned the roof. They did an excellent job, and the roof looks like new! They cut down and chopped up limbs then inspected cleared roof. They found the roof to be sound and patched down a couple of shingles. Very honest and straightforward. Telge Roofing owner, Roy Campbell, called to follow up on my text to him that I was pleased with their service. He was glad that I was a happy camper.
