A few months back we saw shingle pieces on the ground behind our garage. We called Texas Engineered Roofing to check it out. They were recommended by a neighbor. They found that raccoons were tearing our shingles to get into the garage attic. However, while checking the roof of the house they also found hail damage from the storm last May. They worked with our insurance to get us covered. In fact, we had even changed insurance companies several months ago, and they assured us that our previous insurer would cover. I didn't realize that. Our experience start to finish was excellent. Responsive communications the entire time. The price was competitive. In fact, they upgraded our shingles and ridge, and replaced our gutters, all within the insurance payment. Great attention to detail by the crew. I have some construction experience and was home frequently to watch. Scott the project manager was on site nearly the entire time. Perfect cleanup. By the way, early in the process we called another company for a comparison bid, and that company didn't even mention hail damage or filing with insurance. The short version: Free estimates. Prompt responses. Fairly priced. Quick execution. Quality work completed on time. Great service throughout. And yes ... I would hire these guys again. The long version: During a rain storm, I heard dripping above my bathroom and noticed a small moist spot forming on the ceiling nearby. I went up into the attic after the rain to investigate and noticed there was way too much light near the edges of the vent pipe. So I decided to take a look from the outside. As I walked around the house craning to see all the various vents, I noticed that nearly all of the plumbing vents looked frayed or cracked. After circling the house, I found 5 roof vent covers that were nearly completely eaten by squirrels. Okay ... I have to ask. What is it with squirrels and gnawing things that can kill them? I understand it sharpens teeth, but doesn't the plastics and metal they gnaw kill them? Prior to the squirrel attack, I had different company repair my water heaters, but they failed to completely seal the flew vents. OMG! My roof was open to the sky. Yelp! to the rescue. I spent a little while researching a place to call for an estimate, and found one that was highly rated, with a lot of reviews, and requested an estimate. As I clicked the button to request a response, Yelp! suggested that I send my question to a few other companies. I had planned to get a few estimates, so I selected Texas Engineered Roofing and another couple. I like to get 3 estimates. I almost always select the middle estimate figuring that 1) the low ball estimate will have lots of add-on items to bring up the bill or they are hobbyists and not professionals, and 2) the high end estimate guy will probably hire one of the others and pocket the difference. So I waited for the 3 estimates to be done. The original company I selected did not work in my area, so they were out of the running. Texas Engineered Roofing showed up the next day. They inspected the roof, found a number of minor issues, etc. They reported that the roof needed some TLC aka regular maintenance and that all of the roof jacks (the gaskets around the vent pipes) were wrecked. Okay ... It was what I expected. So I waited and followed up with the other companies ... and waited ... and waited. After 2 other companies failed to even reply, I finally got 3 estimates. Go figure, Texas Engineered Roofing was priced perfectly against the others. It was predictable. So I called them to schedule the repair... Let's do this! I got on the schedule and was ready to go when ... yet another storm caused the work to be delayed. Ugh! So we rescheduled. The guys showed up on time and introduced themselves. And then it commenced. Hammers pounding. Saws blazing. Parts were being disassembled, repaired, and reassembled. And suddenly, it was all done. They resealed all my heating vents, replaced all my roof jacks, replaced a few broken shingles and some flashing, cleared the gutters, and resealed the roof on my pergola. And I'm happy to say, I'm happily dry under my leakless roof! Thanks guys! read more

Not a business I would ever recommend. The work was done but this is a confused company. They assured me the extra cost for additional work was covered but then they surprised me with a $1,500 bill they never gave me any information about. They are, like most roofers, without much regard for truth or fair. There are a lot of roofers out there and surely some of them are honest. read more

A leaking roof or roofing damage? Without a doubt, Texas Engineered Roofing would be my first call. After the recent storms, I noticed some water spots on my ceiling. Thinking it had to be the roof, I gave Texas Engineered Roofing a call. Scott arrived on time and did a thorough inspection of my roof. He was an absolute professional and so trustworthy noting that my water leak was not coming from my roof at all but from overflowing water from the AC condenser. All of this for no charge. Wow! While the job done was adequate (really won't know until it is tested with a storm), I was disappointed in 3 areas. First, I was told they would come by mid week and they did not come until a week later. While our issue was not terribly pressing, and I know businesses were busy with Harvey work, communication on this fact would have been helpful. Second, clean up after they cleaned the gutters was mediocre at best. They did not have garbage bags to bag up the debris, so I had to provide those (What would they have done had I not been there? I was told I didn't need to be present for the work so I am glad I was). Additionally quite a bit of mess was left behind on the pool deck and walk ways. I have never experienced that before when we have had our gutters cleaned. Third, when I called to pay the invoice they stated there was a 3% credit card fee! I never was given a written quote, this was never mentioned when they came out to give me the quote in person, and it was not on the invoice. $31, while not huge in the grand scheme of things, is a ridiculous amount to pay for credit processing for a business. All these things put together will keep me from using this company again. EDITED TO ADD: The owner of the company reached out to me shortly after I left this review. He wanted to apologize for the issues I had and assure me that he is going to address them with everyone at the company. I sincerely appreciate the effort to address my concerns. He did offer to reimburse the processing fees as well since I was not notified about them, but I had mailed a check so it was not necessary. It was more of an issue about not knowing about said fees. Texas Engineered Roofing did a superb job installing a new roof. We have a challenging roof in that it is very steep with many surfaces and various venting pipes. The communication up front was outstanding and gave me comfort that I chose the right roofing company. The materials showed up on time, the crew showed up on time and worked what seemed non-stop. Our property was protected (e.g., a tarp over the pool). The weather turned nasty and the crew kept working. They finished on time and did a number of property walkthroughs looking for stay nails or discarded roofing materials. I had high expectations and they exceeded them. We also had some internal water damage requiring new insulation and drywall. This too was done in a high quality manner and the repairs are seamless with the existing non-damaged area. I wanted to share that Texas Engineered Roofing went above and beyond with customer service to help my mother and father repair their roof that was storm damaged. Matt Nash was a pleasure to work with! This fall I called the company and explained to them that I was trying to help my parents understand their insurance coverage to see if a new roof would be covered. I live in San Diego and was doing my best to help my parents but I could not do it alone. My parents are both in their late 70s and my father is under stress due to caring for my mother who has dementia. English is my father's second language, he cannot hear very well and did not know what to do about getting his roof repaired. I was referred to Texas Engineered Roofing and I explained my situation to them. They were very understanding! I worked with David Chavez and he told me not to worry because they could help. They were very patient with me and did a great job answering my father's questions. They helped me get insurance paperwork completed and helped me understand the insurance policy.
