Joanne and Michelle have taken care of our two cats multiple times over the past few months, and most recently Michelle noticed our elder cat with diabetes was not acting herself. She immediately informed us when her condition worsened, and after calling the vet to schedule a visit, and with practically zero prior notice, Joanne came and took our cat in. The quick response from Michelle and Joanne no doubt saved our cat's life, as she was starting to undergo diabetic ketoacidosis and needed to be transferred to the ER. Throughout the entire ordeal, they checked in with us as we rushed to come home early. They treated our cat as if she was a member of their family, and I'll always be indebted to their incredible compassion and care. With every visit, Michelle and Joanne always give us a quick rundown of how the visit went, and spend considerable effort to make sure both cats are fed and taken care of properly. Raphael came over to meet us and the cats and right away I knew it was a good match. I felt safe leaving him (a stranger) with the cats and the keys to our home. He has good energy. They worked daily with our dog at Doggie Camp for 28 days and never gave up on her. All of the staff told us how much they loved her and can't wait to have her back for daycare and boarding! We appreciated the detailed weekly reports on how she was doing. As a camper grad, we also have free private lessons at the facility for her lifetime! My partner first visited Rivers Edge in order to register our dog, pay for doggie daycare, and get…read morea tour of the facilities... tour was not available after 3pm. Our choices in the area were limited and we needed a place for our dog the next day, so my partner went through registration without a tour. The registering employee was provided all medical details - we noted that our dog's booster was due but would be completed at our vet visit scheduled for the next afternoon, and that we needed daycare starting the same day. She said that wouldn't be an issue so we paid in advance for 10 days. The next day, partner drives the half hour to Lompoc to drop our dog off and was told that she could not be taken back without the booster. So now he's in the situation we were trying to avoid, unable to work because our dog does not have care, and the woman at the front desk was not concerned about the miscommunication. Booster acquired, our dog is now a regular doggie day care customer. She looks forward to her visits with her dog buddies and the staff. Pick up and drop off are fast and straightforward. She gets a little dusty but we bathe her regularly anyway. Since that first day, we have had a few more issues with daycare availability that are all the more frustrating due to lack of communication. If doggie daycare is optional for you, this may not be an issue, but for us it means someone has to take a day off or loses half a day to making alternative arrangements. There are a few things you can do to try to mitigate the risk of not having care, but the legwork will be on you and are not guaranteed. 1. Weekday after a holiday - facility will be full of boarded dogs who haven't been picked up yet. Call ahead and/or arrive at 7am. 2. Rainy day - facility will be limited by kennel availability to avoid muddy dogs. Note that a single rainy day can lead to a week of limited availability due to muddy conditions. Call ahead and/or arrive at 7am. Note: This review is only for doggie daycare experience. We have not boarded our dog with the facility.
