I went to this store to buy a new laptop to replace the one I've had and used for several years but was showing it's age. Buying the computer was no issue. It was what I was looking for at a good price. However, I asked the salesman if they offered a transfer of everything from my old machine and he said they did for $ 199 and was offered through the "Geek Squad" which had a kiosk right in the store. I waited in line at the kiosk for maybe 15-20 minutes before I was waited on, the work order was prepared and only then was I informed that the process could take up to 48 hours! I was kind of shocked by that but figured that they probably had more than my little machine to take care of and left. Mind you, I have a 80 mile round trip to go this store. I received an email a couple of days later and said my machine was ready for pick up. The counter guy waited on me, gave me my new computer in the original box and that was it?? No explanation what to do, what to look out for or even a "thank you". Pretty unprofessional. I had to ask him if there was someplace I could sit down and try the machine to make sure it actually worked - you know like powered up. It did and I checked a couple of links and everything seemed OK. BIG MISTAKE! It's been two (2) months since I bought the machine and I'm still finding major issues and surprises that I never expected. I've been forced to take the new machine to a local repair guy to fix some basic issues with communication between devices like printers and scanners. I went to this location to get help with a software corruption issue. The team was able to help me out, but the main guy I was interacting with was a major creep. The only thing I needed to do was pick up my laptop, pay, and sign, but this man (I wish I could remember his name) took over an hour and a half to complete this process as he was spouting straight BS that I assume he believed counted as rizz. It was 8:30pm and honestly this was the last thing I needed to be dealing with. He was telling me that I should be "impressed" because he's the only geek squad member on the east coast that's able to do this task, and that it's only his part-time job because he "works with models and actors in Hollywood", at which point I assume he expected me to be impressed. There was a lot more just absolute nonsense he was spitting, and I truly wish I had recorded the conversation because I'm still baffled by this dude's obvious play to get in my pants. FINALLY. We get the payment done and all of that squared away, at which point he tells me that the best buy number is on the receipt, and that he also included his ~personal email~ (not store associated, literally just a Gmail account) in case I wanted to reach out to him with "further questions". I purchased a new monitor and was dissatisfied with the performance. Poor resolution (picture was granular). I feel it was a setting either on my computer or the monitor itself. I was forwarded to Geek Squad and was told I would need to purchase a service contract (~$250) for them to be able to help me. I tried to call Best Buy and could only get their virtual assistant. I was never able to speak with a human. I went to the store on Sunday morning to return a computer monitor. Customer service told me that because it was a third-party sale I would need to return it myself. I went on-line and the order did say it was a third-party purchase from New Egg. It also said my return options were to ship the monitor back myself or to bring it to A BEST BUY STORE AND THEY WOULD SHIP IT FOR ME. The other irritation was that all the customer service rep could say was a 3rd party purchase (through Best Buy) and you need to ship it yourself. Some training of employees would be a good thing. I pay for a best buy membership and it has been completely worthless trying to work with the Albany Best Buy. It's impossible to reach anyone in the store. When they had my computer I needed to ask a question and was redirected to the international call center. They continually told me someone from the store would call me back within 2 hours and I called every 2 hours and continued to get told the same thing. No one ever contacted me and I had to drive all the way to the store to ask a question, absplutely ridiculous. Then, 3 appointments were made in my best buy account saying pick up was completed on my computer, all with 3 separate confirmation numbers, when my computer wasn't even done being "repaired" (spoiler alert, it wasn't actually repaired.) I told them about my frustrations trying to reach them and they gave me their in-store extension for the future. We'll When I got home I found they had left a geek squad program open on my computer and I couldn't close it, so I called the number they gave me and no one ever called me back. I had to use the international call center again for help closing they program they never successfully closed. I told the technician what I believed was wrong with my computer and was assured there was no issue at all and gaslit that my suspicions were nothing to worry about, only to get home and find the issue I brought it for still happening. I've now left multiple messages at the extension they gave me, and still no one has called me back. I have no idea what I'm paying for with my $180 best buy membership because ive receive zero quality customer service. I purchased a television with delivery and installation for $2000 and have had the worse customer service experience of my life. The delivery didn't take place as scheduled. There was no communication about that. The app to check deliveries doesn't work. My wife and I have spent numerous hours trying to reschedule or get a refund with no success. We are told the item is "in transit"; to call back in 24 hours or to call back in one week. So I am disputing the charges with my credit card company. There should be an option for zero stars. Three and a half hours to buy a new cell phone, ending in a rip-off of $325. I first looked at a Samsung Galaxy S25 FE, but it was $700. Found a less fancy Samsung for $350. Asked the sales associate WHEN I ARRIVED if I would get a trade in for my old Galaxy S9+. He said yes. Looked it up and said it would be $325 credit. That meant the more expensive phone was only $25 more than the cheaper one, so I bought the S25 FE. I also asked up front if it mattered whether the phone was locked or unlocked. He said no difference. The person who served me was so incompetent it took three hours to ring up the phone, a case, and a screen protector, and change my Verizon plan. Only after I paid did he tell me I would not get a trade-in. Why? because I bought an unlocked phone, and you only get a trade-in for a locked phone. They had no locked S25 FE in stock, so the sales clerk decided to sell me an unlocked phone without telling me first. I pointed out that I would have bought the cheaper phone; or I would have bought a locked S25 FE. Then he took it upon himself to change back the new plan with Verizon. I did not say to do this, and it took another half hour to reach Verizon and fix this problem. He, and his useless manager, said they could do nothing about it. It was an "honest mistake." It looks to me like a bait and switch, which violates any number of consumer protection laws. Having spent the better part of the day at Best Buy, I said I would very unhappily keep the S25. Negative stars if I could, I'm on a work trip right now and am in a different city each day. I bought a Nintendo switch oled, got back to my hotel and the controllers weren't in the box. I called and was told I have to go back into the store, problem is it's a $40 Uber so I could just get new controllers for cheaper than my ride would be there and back to the hotel. Really upset over this and definitely won't be returning to Best Buy ever for gifts for anyone. People please check the box before you leave, although you shouldn't have to, the electronics are supposed to be brand new. How do you even miss that the box doesn't have controllers?!? Edit. Had a connectivity issue with my IPHONE 7. Why oh why does Apple suggest Best Buy as an authorized service place to fix Apple products after you describe the issue with them, if the end result is that they cannot fix the issue? And why oh why doesn't Best Buy management tell Apple not to list them as an authorized repair place? You either can fix an Apple phone or you can't. Why bother putting customers through this task. Not only are the directions on where to drop it off not specific, but asking some staff where to go for repair, can get you snarky glare. Turns out, sometimes those same staff themselves don't understand fully where to go either :). To them I say, "KNOW THY CRAFT". I know i don't know, as i said previous, the directions are not always clear. But then again, they might not pay them enough to care, who knows. Most staff were ok, they just couldn't help me. The reason I didn't go to Apple downstairs was because it appears to be a little too chaotic for me and especially for my hearing or lack thereof. Also, I believe you need an appointment to see Apple downstairs in Crossgates Mall in Albany. So better left as I did for another day. I think I'll just buy another phone, maybe or maybe it won't be an Apple either. Update: Turns out this issue of a cellular problem is common with refurbished apple phones sold by straight talk. I called customer service and my appointment was cancelled for no real reason at all. For those of you who remember the good old days (cough... 20 years ago) of playing computer video games, when you wanted a new title you went to the local computer or gaming store (Best Buy, Circuit City, FYE, etc.) and looked at all of the new titles. There were usually several aisles or shelves of games, sorted by type (strategy, first person shooter, casino games) and system (Mac, PC). It was exciting to see everything that was out there. The boxes were shiny and big (to hold the manuals which these days are usually downloaded online) to hold all the gaming goodness like Command & Conquer, Call of Duty, Civilization... After converting our home computer to Windows 10, my old games don't work. Such is evolution. Wanting to purchase a couple of new games for my new computer, I came to the mall. GameStop only carries console games so I came here. Foolish me! I asked the gentleman at the door where their computer games were and was directed to two different sections. Going to the first, I was told that they weren't there and to go to the second section. Upon arriving there, I was told that Best Buy had literally ONE computer game and it was only available online, meaning it wasn't on the floor. WHAT? That doesn't seem right, but it was clear that the person here wouldn't or couldn't help me. Saturday morning August 10th 2024: Manager was laughing with another associate and had no clue what was going on in the store. Numerous associates just standing around talking while the staff in Order PickUp were working at top notch speed and efficiency offering outstanding customer support. Manger needs additional training on how to utilize idle staff while others could use additional hands to provide prompt service. A very very simple transaction took me over 40 minutes because the manager (he said he was the manager) was not in touch with what was going on in the store. I observed numerous staff during the very long and tedious and UNNECESSARY wait. I am trying to purchase a wireless receiver for my son as a Christmas present. The receiver is approximately $350 and includes installation. On Black Friday I made the purchase, along with a 3 year warranty and after I paid I was notified that no installation appointments are available. Naively I assumed that I would be able to schedule an appointment in the future if I communicated with an individual. I have a 7 page convo via the Best Buy chat feature and was able to do what I had already done on my own - 2 hours I will never get back. During the chat period I was also disconnected from the store three times. Today I went into the store and after speaking to 4 separate people a young man told me he could set up an appointment for me. However before setting up the appointment he told me that in addition to the $350 receiver I would have to purchase approximately $600 work of additional items including $260 worth of software. I do believe that the lure of "free" installation is false advertising. Further, had I been able to purchase online with the "free" installation appointment who knows what it would have cost me when I went to have the receiver installed - $600. Not sure what I will do but I can say that, having purchased many items from Best Buy, I am extremely disappointed with their advertising and customer service. read more

I wasn't sure what iPad I wanted and the salesperson walked me through the entire process, buying backup, backing up my data, signing into the new machine, picking out my case, installing the new iPad (cause I am a klutz), and being all around fabulous. I had an appointment at Apple, and I never made it. He helped me to get maximum value they give on my old iPad - $50. it was a great experience and I was delighted - his name was Santiago and he was great! And I spent time at Customer Service and I watched and they were extremely kind and helpful to all sorts of problems, and covering for each other. My first impression when I walked in was, "What a dreary place this is." There's a lot of wasted, empty, space in here, and it seems dimly lit. On a Saturday morning, typically a time I would expect it to be busy, it was fairly empty. The largest number of customers were in the Geek Squad area, which also happened to be the nicest looking and best lit part of the store. There were a lot of employees either walking around trying to look busy or talking to each other. The laptop selection was pretty lame and also limited. I don't recall seeing computers or office equipment of at least one very prominent name brand either. The music department - why do they even HAVE one, if it's going to be so small and difficult to find. A store like this is good incentive to use their website. read more
