I've been buying appliances solely from Greens for 5 years now. A plumber recommended them. He told me of the owner buying back an out of warranty item from an unhappy client. His reasoning was simply to keep the client happy. Their parts are all warrantied and from the manufacturer. There is a difference from the parts you get at Greens and the ones you get in the major stores such as Home Depot. Recently I purchased some appliances for a family member as a birthday surprise. On the delivery date, the weather wasn't promising but Greens made the delivery happen. Not only did they do that, they made all the efforts to keep the delivery under wraps. The icing on the cake was Greens making a huge print out birthday sign. They didn't have to do that but they did. That's why Greens is number one in my book. I have visited Greens Appliances and Furniture on two occasions. On the first I went looking for a front load wash and dryer. Maddy the daughter waited on me and we found the perfect set of GE washers and dryers. Delivered the next day and set up, and the older units removed. Again very pleasant people to deal with. Now just recently I called them to see if they had another dryer lint trap for sale. Madeline said bring it down and she would match it up. I was prepared to pay for the lint trap but she gave it to me gratis. What a thoughtful person and refused to take money for it. I then was looking for a new stove and wanted the glass cooktop as well as the air fryer feature. The owners did not want me to purchase out of gratitude and I explained I was thinking of buying new so they had exactly what I wanted. The install was the next day and the hauled away the old stove. I highly recommend this store based on selection, price and wonderful people. read more

My elderly parents needed a washer dryer and we bought our washer from Craig and had SUCH a great experience from the call, purchase and installation, so I decided to use them again. Craig was amazing, once again and my parents had the washer/dryer within a week. After a week my parents decided the stackable units were too high to reach so my dad decided to gift them to a family member. We wanted to use greens again so my husband went in to look. Craig was amazing but the female owner came over and immediately started complaining about "what a difficult install" my parents set was. We never asked anything of them and just wanted to buy a new set. She went off at my husband and was so rude and unprofessional. My husband lost his temper and walked out. He couldn't believe what a wacko she was. I watch her in commercials and something seems off about her. Craig was amazing. Her daughter also was so sweet after the install and called to notify us that my parents needed a new hot water shut off which I thought was so above and beyond her scope of a job. I'm sad to say this owner will never get our business again and we had already bought our washer from them before my parents but only dealt with Craig! Again he was awesome! Our refrigerator died on Black Friday. Did some research online and headed to Green's. Great selection and good prices but most importantly, wonderful staff. Normally a delivery like that would take one to two weeks best case scenario. However, Green's appliances delivered the refrigerator on the very same day and it was delivered by none other than the owner, Al! Now that's service! Great store and wonderful staff and family. I can't thank them enough, they saved my bacon on a big holiday weekend! They have a customer for life. read more

I'm surprised to see such a low rating here as my experiences with Green's has always been positive. I decided to go a local company who specializes in appliances when it came time to renovate my kitchen. I didn't want to run into delivery/installation issues. Didn't want to struggle with a big box store if there were technical issues. I didn't find the cost to be much more and I got individualized attention from a staff who knew their product and have been in the industry for years. Skip ahead a year. I have a small wading pool in my basement from a washer that crapped out. Again I went to Green's. I explained that I'd done my research and I knew generally what I wanted. I was guided toward a washer/dryer set that was not the most expensive pair in the store (love that). My set was delivered a day earlier than planned (love that, too) and by a pair of the nicest delivery guys I ever had in my home. They arrived exactly at the top of the delivery hour and were fast,efficient, and didn't leave a crumb behind. They even did some swift problem solving that prevented me from having to return to the store and go into week two of not having clean clothes. Very pleased. read more

Just replaced my over the range microwave today. After researching models online and then browsing online at the main hits (Home Depot, Lowe's), my son took me to Home Depot to get one while I also picked up some other things I needed (like trimmer string). After finding the section of microwaves, several store personnel passed and ignored us. Jon started greeting employees as they walked by, just to see if and how they would respond. Finally, he said, Mom, let's go somewhere else. I said, "Lowe's?" He said, "Let's go to Green's. They're great and definitely won't ignore us. So off we went to Greens. Green's is no big box store. No fancy advertising signs, no flashy gimmicks. Just a store that has appliances sold by kind, friendly, honest, helpful, caring peeps. Every time I go, they listen to what I want, show me a couple of models they think would work well, explain the details of the products thoroughly, and answer any questions. Today was no exception, as Maddy cheerfully helped us. Got exactly what I wanted, they gave us an awesome deal (they always do), and then Al took the time to ask Jon if he'd ever installed an over the range microwave before. When Jon said he hadn't, Al went through exactly what to do. He said to call him if he had any trouble. My dishwasher, washer and dryer, and my microwave are all from Green's. Family owned and run, can't say enough good things about this store or these people. Next on the list is updating the fridge, and Green's on Central Ave in Albany, NY will be my first stop. This was the worst treatment I have ever received at the hands of any company. I went in on Sunday looking for a portable dishwasher. I had looked at a couple on lowes, so I know what to expect in one. When I got there, the owner or manager (he seemed in charge, not sure his title, I'll refer to him as ***hole for the rest of the review). So as i was wandering around the kitchen section, failing to find the dishwashers, ***hole asked me if he could help me find anything. I told him i was looking for dishwashers, so he walkied me over to them (past the washing machines) and then, despite being the only customer in the store, he dumped me off on his obviously junior salesman. The junior sales man showed me the only portable dishwasher they had. It was bulky for its capacity, and $150 more than the ones I had looked at in other stores. Needless to say, I was not interested. I thanked the junior salesman and started to leave. The junior sales man called after me to ask if i had looked at other models, blah, blah, clearly intent on giving me a hard sell. At this point, i experienced the most bizzar exchange I had evver experienced. ***hole shouted to his junior sales man, "if he's going to be like that don't bother" in the rudest tone I hae ever heard. I replied with "excuse me?" To which ***hole decided it would be prudent to lecture me about how it was discrespectfull to walk away from his slaes man. Seriously. I got scolded by an appliance salesman. Dude, I didn't want yopur overpriced, inefficient ugly ass dishwasher. Since you had no other models to show me, I was done. you know, I had nothing nice to say, so I said nothing at all. I thanked your salesman and left, because I didn't feel like insulting your crappy selction or insane prices. Had you let me leave, you would have only lost a sale to your poor products and bad prices. Since you decided to bitch at me, now you lost the sale, and I'm going to write you a bad review. I understand it's difficult for an independent shop to compete pricewise with chains like Lowes, If your not going to compete on price, you'd damn well better offer exceptional customer service. I'm a landlord with 24 apartments and I buy virtually all of my appliances from Green's. While I am always on the lookout for a great deal, in many cases the best deal is buying from someone that has it in stock, that knows the product and can recommend the reliable brands, that will carefully deliver the appliance with their own employees and is there to back up the purchase if anything goes wrong. I get good prices from Green's but I also place a lot of value on the other things. I have purchased appliances over the internet and had to return them, I have purchased from Lowes and HD and had their delivery guys damage the walls in the stairwell. Not worth it. read more

The Worst... Toxic... Stay Away! I am an Albany, NY landlord and I often have to replace failed appliances fast for my tenants. I have been a loyal customer of Greens since 2005. Over the last year alone I have purchased a microwave, dishwasher, stove, 2 refrigerators, washing machine and dryer.  During my previous encounter at Greens I did notice that the sales staff seemed a little frustrated that I had so many questions and always referred me to their website which has little information. Nevertheless I made my purchases as I needed these items quickly. The delivery of my most recent purchase which was a refrigerator AND what my property manager (who is a female) experienced was extremely unprofessional and down right rude! The delivery person (who is a large male) refused to honor the agreement to take away the old refrigerator. When my property manager objected The large man screamed "I don't care!!" and snatched away his delivery sheet and pen from her hands. My property manager immediately called me VERY SHAKEN by this experience and together we called Green's appliance and spoke to the owner. The owner became even more verbally rude and abusive. I sighted my long standing relationship with his store and my purchases but that didn't stop him from yelling! He finally concluded by saying "take your business elsewhere!" And ended our call by hanging up. I will follow his request and never purchase from Greens Appliance again. I understand that competition has hurt their business but being rude to your loyal customer base or any customer will only make things worst. Our experience in ordering 2 beige Flexsteel leather recliners from Green's appliances could not have been worse.We waited 7 months for delivery and never heard a word to update us on our order status during that whole time.They did collect one half of the charge the day of sale in a very timely fashion.When our 2 very expensive chairs arrived we noticed that the seat cushions were defective and collapsed down on one side while maintaining their firmness on the other side. Sitting in the chairs for any length of time caused an uncomfortable lean in our backs as well as pushing the foot rests off-center. The mid-back cushion was not supportive and caused an odd bowing effect when sitting in them. An upholstery repairman was sent to our home and told us that the chairs would have to be taken apart to fix them.Madeline Green did not admit at all to the fact that this is unacceptable in brand new chairs especially of Flexsteel caliber and cost, and was totally dismissive of our concerns.No apology at all! She came to do an official inspection taking many, many photos,spent 3 seconds sitting in the chairs and Voila!!! the defects were within Flexsteel parameters and no cause for concern according to Madeline. We were the ones who had the problem.After spending $3000. on 2 very disappointing chairs we were given the choice of accepting extensively deconstructing brand new chairs or returning them and being charged $800 to ''restock'' the chairs after owning them for 3 months, as well as additional sanitizing and pick-up fees! When I asked Al Green where he was going to ''restock'' the chairs when he came to pick them up, he bared his teeth, snarled, almost growling, and left with a most unpleasant expression on his face. I was in the store yesterday looking for a washing machine. I was approached by one of the owners (I recognized her from their commercials) and at first I was pleased with her sales technique. Within a few minutes though she proceeded to tell me what I NEEDED ... really ... I think I know best what I need and what I can afford. She explained that she was giving me a 'deal' on the 'floor model' and would also give me a 'deal' on the 4 year extended warranty. When I asked for the model number and I was told that I could get the model number from the GE website ... again, really ... at this point she proceeded to walk away because I think she knew she lost control of the situation. Upon leaving the store she didn't even bother to ask for my contact information or see if I had any further questions. Not that she was helpful with my earlier questions. She just gave me a wave from across the store, she was too busy talking with another sales associate. Doing a bit of research on my own, I found the exact unit on the http://BestBuy.com website (not a floor model) for less than her floor model price, more reasonable extended warranty and free shipping. Who could ask for more? I would have preferred to work with a local business but my experience here was with an unprofessional and rude owner, who may know her product but doesn't take the time to know the customer or care what they think. Absolutely the best experience we have ever had buying an appliance. Mrs. Green greeted us, introduced herself and asked what we were shopping for that day. She asked about they style, color and size we wanted - she never asked about budget and I learned this is because she provides the same level of service regardless of how much you have to spend. The refrigerator we needed was a special size and she and Maddie not only showed us every refrigerator they had in stock, they showed us what they could order for us online and in their catalogs. They both knew absolutely everything - every feature, the clearance needed when you opened the refrigerator doors, how much space you need behind the refrigerator once installed, etc. We purchased a refrigerator and scheduled delivery and felt 100% confident that we made the right purchase and paid a fair price. As for delivery and service... Mr. Green himself and 2 of his employees delivered our refrigerator. They moved our furniture and rolled carpets to make sure nothing was damaged when they brought the appliance in. The service men that set up and installed the water line for the water and ice dispenser and could not have been nicer or more efficient. I need to point out that this all occurred in a pandemic when masks had to be worn and special care had to be taken to ensure our safety. They were amazing. When we had an issue with a scratch on the door THEY REPLACED THE ENTIRE DOOR! Do you think a big box store would have done that? I don't! I would recommend Green's to absolutely everyone. Also, we realized that they sell furniture as well and the next time we need to make a furniture purchase I will buy from them. At this point I'd invite the entire Green family over for Thanksgiving - that's how great they were. read more

Over the last ten years I purchased three appliances from Green's. A washer, dryer and stove. The deliveries were on time and the set-ups were problem free. The men took the time to insure we understood how the products worked, and answered any questions we had. While hooking up the stove we found out there was no gas cut-off valve. The gas had to be turned off in the basement and the Green's staff actually put in a valve behind the stove. Green's might not have the absolute lowest prices but the service we have gotten from them is very good. I've read some complaints on yelp about Green's and find it hard to believe they're talking about the same store. I'm not disputing anyone, just saying I didn't experience any problems with my three purchases. read more

It was Friday afternoon and Our 13 year old fridge died, a Stainless Steel model that I checked online and found replacement would cost $2,500-3,000. My decision to buy from "local, privately owned" store was an easy one, knowing we'd likely pay a bit more. wife wanted to go to Sears. No, I insisted on locally owned and we drove from CP to Albany to Green's; I had explained all the "obvious reasons" as we drove down the Northway. Short version, what a mistake. Following a friendly greeting from Dimitri, I explained what we needed (due to size restrictions in our kitchen) after being asked a few "nonsense questions", we were shown the only 1 they carry that met our needs - ok, $2,600++; due to 1 very close to my MAX dimension, I explained I would drive back to CP to measure and I'd call back to order if it will fit...and asked for his card Dimitri doesn't have business cards, so I asked him to just write their number down for me. He said I'd need to come back to the store for the transaction. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?????? We left Greens, stopped at Sears as we were passing Colonie Center. went in to the appliance section; had a friendly greeting, were shown 6 models that fit our requirements. all between $2,000-3,500. We could have delivery Tuesday... and surprise, after we made our decision..."we have this going on sale"...Mike (our seasoned pro salesman at Sears), gave us $200 off the price we expected; then "if you use your Sears card, save another 5%..(note @ $100 off ok; $70 delivery, $10 pick up of old... but still got what we needed , saved hundreds of dollars, had a very pleasant experience, a PROFESSIONAL buying/sales experience.... and HUGE disappointment as I said to wife "you were right and I was wrong" How the owners of Greens could be there and see (the only) customers come and go without ever personally getting involved was their decision... I cannot tell you how disappointed I am; wish I had gone to Cocca's... and would have, but needed to make the purchase as we are without a fridge the once great Greens (the family has been selling us appliances for 25+ years) is no more. do not waste your time... try Cocca's or just go to the big box stores...it was painless... the locally owned shop needs to excel at customer service and product knowledge if we are going to support them. Before Saturday, I had never been to Green's Appliances in my life and I was born and raised in Albany. I was looking to purchase a new electric clothes dryer and had already been to Lowe's, Home Depot and Sears Outlet a day earlier. I saw a couple of dryers, I would maybe be interested in buying, but left all the stores, without making any purchase. When I got home, I went online and found Cocca's and Green's Appliances. I IMMEDIATELY saw a dryer on Green's website I wanted! The next day, I walked into Green's Appliances, with a picture, description and item number of the product I wanted to inquire about and possibly purchase. It was not in stock and had to be ordered. However, at that time, I was offered an item, that was already in stock, very similiar to the one I wanted. It was $40.00 more, but Al let me have it for the same price as the dryer I had wanted. Needless to say, it was a done deal! I walked out, having purchased a new electric dryer! I got a great price and IT WAS a lot less expensive, than the price for the EXACT same product at Walmart, Home Depot, JC Penney and several other appliance stores online! It is now Wednesday and my dryer was just delivered. They said delivery would be between 12:00 and 2:00. They were here at exactly 12:00. They installed my new dryer, took away the old one and was out the door on they way at 12:25. I really don't understand all the bad reviews for Green's Appliances. I can't say enough about them! I am very happy and exceptionally pleased with the service I received! Al was very accommodating and I found both Al and his wife to be lovely people! They were very nice, friendly, funny and a pleasure to do business with! It is hard to believe this place is even in business. Unprofessional and extremely rude. Went in for three things - a couch, a dishwasher, and a front loading washing machine. Started with couch, and didn't get any further. Sales girl very pushy over the construction of the product, however, could not tell me what it was upholstered with and didn't care enough to look it up, even though she walked away and went to the computer. In all honesty, I don't care that it is built with kiln-dried wood, since in the course of my life I have never had the experience of the frame of a piece of furniture breaking and I think it is pretty rare. What I am concerned about is the upholstery - how it holds up to wear, spills, etc. Depending on the material and treatment, some are more stain resistant and wear resistant. The floor model had one stain and one tear and one pull, so I was concerned with that. I asked her what the material was and she said she couldn't know since they have dozens of coverings - okay, but really you don't know what the FLOOR MODEL is, and won't bother to check while I'm browsing? Is that supposed to make me want to do business with you?? Instead of acknowledging the damage and addressing my concerns, she walked away. As I walked over to the appliance center, another salesperson approached me. As she questioned me, she titled her head back so she could look down her nose at me - I never saw anything like it. It was like she was challenging me to something. I told her I was looking at the corner sectional but had some concerns as it was clearly getting damaged, and I expected my set to get more use than the floor model, so I was wondering why that was. Her verbatim reply was "I guess that is something you will have to wonder about." Are these people even living on this planet? The first step in making a sale is to listen to the customer and address their concerns. Look up the fabric covering. Talk to me about whether anyone ever tried to remove the stains. Ask me about the wear I expect. Recommend something else to me (leather). Tell me about the warranties and protection plans I can purchase. ADDRESS MY CONCERNS POLITELY. For goodness sake, acknowledge the subject of the conversation and don't be defensive. When I am shopping for merchandise, I am looking for a cooperative and friendly demeanor, not a defensive attitude. Furniture and appliances are products where quality counts. If they are not comfortable addressing the quality of a product, it is clearly not quality that they can stand by. As much as I like to support independent local businesses (I am one myself), this place is a not worthy of my business and clearly sells lousy products that they cannot stand behind. read more

I read all the reviews and on that I made my decision on calling greens for a new dryer has mine had died. First experience on the phone was really nice, the lady who answered who I should had taken the name( you will find out why) was very professional and helpful on making my decision on a dryer, it was a gas dryer and I would need a lot conversion and she explained why very helpful. The machine I had seen on line they didn't have in stock but she recommended another one actually a step up from the one I had chosen, and gave me a brake on the price for the inconvenience of not having the other one in stock. I was very pleased..... Well.......I drove an hour to the store a few days later due to the holidays and when I got there I was approached by an associate I explained what I needed , he had no clue of what I was asking and said the conversion kit came w the machine which wasn't true.! When he gave me the price I told him the conversation I had with the lady on the phone, he simply replied, well sometimes we change the prices but this is it! I wasn't pleased and walked out. I called again a few times and some guy answered a couple of times , I finally told him my issue he simply replied, come down look at you want we are too busy to be on the phone. Well sure enough I did drive down another hour and bought the dryer, at a smaller place within the area where I paid about the same they were asking for but their service was much more pleasant and professional like the lady on the phone. Not pushy, listened and answered all my questions. Helped me compare washers and then helped me focus on the features that were important to me. I cannot say enough about the great experience I had with Green's in furnishing my whole kitchen with GE appliances! (That I just happened to catch on a Memorial Day sale- score!)From the browsing and selection process to delivery, everyone involved went out of their way to make sure we had the best experience possible. Maddy and Al were most helpful in selecting the right items and dealing with a few freak out questions during my kitchen remodel. It seemed like my remodel took forever, but no problem for them as they stored my appliances all summer. When my remodel was complete I needed to move up the delivery date with only a day's notice. Al worked some magic with his delivery crew and for the appliances to us sooner. I am sure I put a few People out of their way by doing that, but the delivery crew we most gracious and didn't seem to mind a bit..... Mike, Mike and Charles their delivery guys were friendly great! My contractor said they were most professional he has worked with in his 30+ years doing kitchens! Thanks so much to all of the staff at Green's! I had a pleasant experience purchasing a new oven at Green's. I knew that I wanted a ceramic cooktop oven to replace my old one that had quit. Madeline (the owner) showed me the various choices and explained the options. I was considering an oven with convection bake, because I had heard it was a good thing but didn't really know what it was and how it worked. Madeline is very knowledgeable about the products that the store carries and showed me a GE oven that had everything I wanted and was on sale for $749. She showed me some other choices, too, but didn't try to upsell me into buying something that I didn't want or need. I ended up buying the GE oven and it was delivered as promised three days later. (Delivery is an extra charge.) The two guys who brought it were careful, pleasant and knew what they were doing. They set it up, tested it and were on their way. I've used the oven and its cooktop for a couple weeks now and love it. It works great. If you bake things like cookies or pies, I recommend the convection option. It browns things nicely all around without burning on the bottom. There are three racks in the oven, so you could conceivably bake 6 or more pies at once and have them all come out evenly. read more

Very good experience!! I went in (a little worried) after reading some of the reviews. Maddy was excellent! Very knowledgeable regarding clothes washer and dryer. Took the time to find out exactly who would be doing the laundry in our family (kids, adults), and went over controls, both easy use (kid-friendly) options and more subtle adult options. Price was lower than the big box stores, and was very personable. All around great experience -- made appliance shopping fun!! read more

We always bought our appliances from Sears, because my wife's cousin Tony Basile worked in sales there. Once Tony retired (and passed away sadly) we assumed we would try some of the big box stores and take advantage of their volume pricing. Having had a very difficult experience with a delivery from Lowes, and a similar impression from Home Depot's website, I took a look at Green's Appliance website when our washer needed to be replaced. We got a great price on a GE washer at Green's. When I called to ask a question about the delivery pricing, I was speaking to the owners daughter. She took me through the process in just a few minutes and scheduled delivery for the next day within a two hour window. The washer also came with a one year warranty and when I passed on the extended warranty she graciously said, if you have a problem with the washer after the one year, please just give us a call and we will always do our best to help. The delivery truck showed promptly on the front end of the two hour window with two very capable and friendly technicians. One was Mr. Green, the owner. Our laundry room is a very tight space. They had to lift the old washer and the new washer over our dryer while being careful not to damage our furnace and water heater. They were done in 15 minutes including the time it took for Mr Green to take me thru the new machine and run a quick cycle to be sure it worked properly. I need a new washer as mine just died. I'm unable to drive over today or tomorrow and wanted to do research ahead of time. I'm very unhappy with my dryer purchase last year (from other). I've been in the kitchen and bath industry for over 10 years and am not happy with the last place I bought from who I had a working relationship with for years. I called Green's and spoke to the person who answered the phone, explained I was looking for a new vendor, I don't buy appliances at the box store and I also got his name and confirmed he was on commission so I would see him when I came in. He would not give me any specifics and referred me to their website. As I was already on their site and only saw four washing machines, I asked if they carried more and he said they did have much more in their showroom. As I again said I wanted to research the best for me and could I give him some specifics of what I was looking for so he could point me in a few directions, he again referred me to their site (which has very little on it). I heard him whispering to someone and I could tell he was getting impatient. Now that I've read other reviews, I think I will continue my search for a different dealer. I understand the "industry" as I've worked in it along with being in customer service for years. I get the "general public" can be rude but I was trying to be very honest and truthful as I expect the same. I don't like buying at the box stores as many of their products are made with lesser parts or actually lack all the pieces that you would get at a "real store" (for example all the parts you need for a shower and/or plastic vs brass parts). I would prefer to buy at an independent for the service and relationship. I didn't get that out of this phone call. A friend referred me to Parisi Appliance House in Schuylerville but unfortunately he doesn't service my area so he doesn't want to sell to someone he can't service. I get it but, wow, he (the owner) was courteous and helpful and apologized! I would buy from him in a heartbeat! read more

cant say enough about how great this store is, went there bought a fridge loaded it on my truck AL Green ask me who was helping me install I said just me, he followed to my place a few blocks from his store. Al Green helped with the new install and removed and took away the old fridge. a great store with over the top service and caring. read more
