THEY (Darius) called me asking if I would be interested in a lower interest rate for my loan, I laughed and said "what's the catch" they explained no catch whatsoever banks are looking to lower people's interest rates because of what a tough year 2020 was. Again I asked if there was a catch? What am I paying for this lower interest rate? Again he said nothing, there is no catch we'll just need to do a credit check to see if you qualify for a lower rate and that's it. I agreed (which I regret now) but they ran the credit check and told me my biweekly payments would go down by $30 saving me $60 a month, Under this new interest rate. I thought about it and asked if instead I could keep my payments the same, accept the new rate and lower the term of my loan (make my loan shorter) they agreed to this and said they would bring the paper work over for me to sign. Again I clarified that my rate would be lower at no cost and my loan term would now be shorter? Yes, I was told. Darius comes and I sign the paperwork all the while he's bitching and moaning about "fucking covid" being a scam, real professional. He didn't explain the paper work I was signing and admittedly I should have looked over the paper work better and not trusted a word I was told. Later in the day he brings back my copies and I decide to cross reference it with my old paper work to see how much shorter my loan term would be. This was when I noticed my load term was nearly a year LONGER than my original loan. Because of the $3700!!!!!! They added to my loan for what I now know is "theft protection" and "financial loss protection". why didn't I know what these products Were before signing? Because they tried to slip it by me and hoped I wouldn't notice, this was the catch. The next day I had a lovely conversation with a gentleman named Terrance who tried to blame me for expecting a free service. Literally said to me "do you go to McDonald's, order fries and expect them to be free?" 1)when I'm told something is free then that's what I believe. So they're liars. 2) I didn't ask for a service THEY called ME and offered me a lower rate, they claimed that's all it was about... well jokes on me because it was never about a lower rate and always about scamming me out of $3700 to line their pockets with the commission. At this point Terrance was calling this $3700 the "refinancing fee" for their services. Please tell how it's a service to charge someone $3700 to lower their interest less than 1%? That's the biggest DISSERVICE I've ever heard of. I told him I was not going to go along with this and they would tear up whatever paper work I signed because they flat out lied to me and had me sign something under false pretences. He kept blaming me and eventually said he would look into it and call me back. When I heard back from him his tone was very different, the tone you have when your boss tears you a new asshole. He was extremely apologetic *insert eye roll" and now wanted to offer to cut the $3700 in half and lower my interest rate another 1%. At this point he finally explained what the $3700 was for, theft protection and financial loss. So it took 4 phone calls for them to pitch the product they tried to slip right under my eyes and hoped I wouldn't notice. Such a "great" product they have to hide it and bank the commission when naive trusting customers don't notice. Filthy scam artists. He even claimed this new "deal" would save me over $4600 in the long run LOL yep I'd be paying my loan a year longer, have $1850 added to my principal yet somehow would save $4600?? Please someone get this guy a fucking math class. I refused this offer and told him to tear up my paperwork and anything I signed in the past 24 hrs. He agreed. TL;DR don't trust these liars if they don't screw you now they will eventually.
