I've been a Best Buy customer for many years and have enjoyed the service and quality of products. That said, my most recent encounter was less than pleasant. While my sales agent/manager Tracy Ackland was exceptional, trying her best to work out a complicated delivery and relocation of a washer, we were not able to come to a perfect arrangement. However, I was assured a morning delivery would be manageable tomorrow. Instead, I got an AI response that my delivery would be between 2:30 and 6:30 pm. This was unacceptable so I called in to request an earlier delivery. 1st of all, your AI service is the worst I've ever dealt with and it took me 1/2 hour before I could reach a human. I should have stuck with dealing with the bot, because the human was clearly less qualified to deal with a customer complaint than the bot. Rude, foreign, unapologetic, unwavering, unhelpful, rude. You have completely inconvenienced me by this and I will likely cancel my credit card and take my business elsewhere in the future. Once again, Tracy was magnificent. Answer the phone!!!! Next to impossible to to actually speak to someone in the store. Completely unacceptable for a business.

On Saturday March 29th/2025, I called and purchased a Lively Flip phone for my dad to replace the one he has because screen on his had gone dark. I inquired at the time of purchase if they could set this up for my dad as he is 89 years old. I was told they could. On Monday the 31st mom and dad drove to Bismarck which is nearly 100 miles. Before they arrived there I had called Best Buy again and informed them mom and dad would be there within the hour and gave them my phone number if there was any problems on the set up. When my parents arrived there to pick up the phone and get it set up, they were told they could not set it up. So my parents left with the phone in hand and then called me. I called the store back again saying my parents were still in Bismarck and we were told several times the phone could be set up at the time pickup. I called Best Buy again and the lady I talked to advised me to tell them to go back to the store again to get the phone set up and if they could not do it today they could do it tomorrow at 2:20. Again when my parents got there they were told they could not set up the phone today, so frustrated, my dad gave the phone back to them. BEST BUY does not care that my parents were 88 and 89 years old, drove 100 miles to pick up the phone which I was promised could be set up at the time of pickup and then they expected my parents to drive another 100 miles one way tomorrow to get the phone set up. By this time I had serious trust issues with customer service representatives. I hope dad told them to grease the phone up real good and stick it up their butt. Very disappointed with Best Buy, how they treated senior citizens and.... I will never set foot in a Best Buy Store again as long as I live and advise others of what I think of that store. Yep, it's a Best Buy and here in Bismarck, there are not a whole lot of other choices for big box electronics. This store is well stocked and loaded with things that run electricity. Televisions, sound systems, computers, cameras, phones, kitchen appliances. I stepped through the computer accessories as I'm needing a converter so the old VGA monitor I bought a few years back will work with my Surface Dock. Uh, that's expensive! I bought a refrigerator on June 27, scheduled delivery for July 2 between 12pm and 8pm. Geek Squad sends an email at 6:34am saying "we're on our way" and estimate arrival at 6:50am. Do not use Bismarck Best Buy for TV purchase and installation! After we purchased a brand new TV and arranged for them to install it, we kept getting conflicting emails about whether we had purchased it or not. Finally we received two voice messages that they were delivered the TV on a different day than when they would install it. They were not specific about the time. They said they would deliver the TV between 8 and 12 AM on a Friday, and install it between 8 and 12 AM on Saturday. Which meant we could not leave the home between 8 AM and 12 PM on two consecutive days. Which meant we had to get up at 7 AM and sit waiting for them for the next 4 hours on two consecutive days. Lousy service. My wife and I bought a Maytag washer/dryer a little over a year ago and the washer stopped working over a week ago. We went back to Best Buy because we had purchased the extended warranty and they told us they would have to contact a 3rd party repair service. Well, now we are told we won't have our washer fixed for at least another two weeks. For a family of four this is more than an inconvenience it is extremely expensive to take our laundry and waste a day doing it somewhere else. When we went back to Best Buy they admitted that they could have replaced the washer that day but since there is now a repair order they won't help us. What a crock. I'll never shop or recommend Best Buy ever again. read more

Please do not buy from Best Buy. I purchased a Note 8 last year with Geek Squad protection and now they will not honor that protection. We set up automatic payments and then out of the blue, they cancelled our plan. We managed to get it back on but it is garbage. Called the Store Manager in Bismarck and he would not help and actually accused me of lying. I asked to get corporate's number and was told that they could not give it out due to security reasons...smh. Customer service online, chat and phone are a joke. We recently purchased a refrigerator which needed to be a specific size. We checked all over Bismarck and couldn't find what we wanted. We walked into Best Buy, Jesse, a salesman, came up to us right away. We told him what we needed and he showed us the floor models and then did an online search and found what we wanted. He was great. We would recommend him to our friends. He knew the products, understood our wishes and promptly made a sale. Wonderful experience. read more

Best Buy has been remotely helpful when I was looking for pc parts and I can honestly say I've spent probably around $1000 over the course of a month buying parts for my pc at this Best Buy location with no rewards to show for it. I will also say that they have the most obnoxious customer service plan that I've ever experienced. You have to make an appointment if you want to speak with anyone in the store for more than 2 seconds. Because of this, I made an appointment to schedule a geek squad service at my house. I showed up 2 minutes after the time of the appointment and was sent to the geek squad office as a "walk in." Why am I a walk in if I specifically made an appointment to schedule something with geek squad? Someone at geek squad spoke with me and said to talk to someone in Store pickup or someone in sales about it. It would've taken longer to speak with a salesperson as you have to make an "appointment," so I went to customer service. They were genuinely confused when I asked to make a geek squad appointment and couldn't figure out how to do it because they obviously hadn't done them often before if at all. So they said to speak with a salesperson. I was able to get with a salesperson quicker than I expected, and after 10 min of trying to figure it out, the salesperson said my best bet was to call 1-800-geek squad. The reason I came in to schedule it in the first place was because their over-the-phone service was incredibly confusing and I couldn't do it so I figured coming in would be easier. I was instead sent to three different people, all of which didn't know what they were doing, and was then sent to call someone instead. The customer service at Best Buy is just plain bad. Worst, Worst customer service experience EVER! I went in on Saturday to buy a computer that was advertised online. The store didn't have it. OK, can you helpful find a beginner computer for my 5 and 6 year old. The gentleman that was helping me was useless when it came to computers. He had to ask, via the little ear piece walkie talkie, one of the three guys that were 10 feet away to answer every question I asked him. He did not know the products they had available. The "more experienced" worker would come over answer the question and then walk away, only to have to come back for the next question. To make things more interesting my screaming 2 year old was being held on my hip because, well he is 2 in a store full of expensive toys. My salesperson couldn't lift the computer box so had to ask one of the other salespeople, 10 feet away, to help. I could see them, standing there, and they said they would be over in 5 minutes. So, now after I am invested in buying this computer, I grab the computer box, while holding the screaming two year old and proceed to check out. The salesperson is helping me. He lets the security know that I am leaving with the box. No one offers to carry out. I have the box on one hip, the 2 year old on the other and proceed to the front. I get stopped by the security, not to see if I need help loading or carrying g but to ask for my receipt. Needless to say, I didn't show it. I walked out. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO BEST BUY AGAIN!!!! read more

Be very wary of buying a new computer through this company. With the short return period to return the computer, you can get stuck with significant costs for repairs even if the computer is under warranty. Computer purchased for nephew's graduation on May 22, 2011. Cost about $550.00 Given to nephew at Grad Party on May 29, 2011. Computer hard drive fails on June 9, 15 days after purchase. Return to store and be told that they will send back to to Toshiba for new hard drive, but to get it back to running order will cost about $150.00. Incredible!! New computer fails within 15 days and they want $150.00 to get it back to running order. Easy breezy and completely satisfied!!!! I went in for a Go Pro Hero 3+ Black edition. I walked straight to the location of them and was greeted not too long after. I had looked at Best Buy before heading to buy it and found an online promo for a free carry case and scan disk. Justin promptly went to the computer to look up the promo, found the items, verified they were free with purchase and walked me to the check out. At check out Christi G helped me. She was super friendly! Being new to Best Buy, she had another associate right by to help with questions. She offered me extended coverage plan and I bought! Low and behold..... We were both SEAHAWKS fans!!! Superbowl 2014!!!! She and her trainer were helpful and informative and super awesome at their jobs. I have ordered items online and have had no issues until I was trying to get a copy of an old movie. I ordered it once in February (had to order another movie too so I could use my coupon) then they cancelled the movie that I really wanted. Tried to order it again in March and again had to buy a second movie to use my coupon. Once again the movie I really wanted got cancelled. I can see this happening once but if you are not able to get the product, don't put it on your website. It is deceiving and now I've bought 2 movies with shipping that I didn't really want. I have had good luck with buying electronics in the Bismarck store but I seem to have bad luck with online shopping. read more

How can everyone at this store be so clueless... I have gone in five times over a couple years and asked for help with something, never once got a good answer. I have asked for specific model number accesories, "do you have the charger for a (model) phone", and "what do you recommend to use for dual monitor display with a projector". My answers were "you can check that shelf, it says accesories on it so..." "go find one of the phone guys or something" and "you cant do that".. Their computers and components are pretty overpriced and didnt have anything newer than 2 years old which is a huge problem for computer enthusiasts. BESTBUY!!!!!!!!!!!! You cost me $80.00 in gas yesterday and wasted my whole day. Customer service lady on the phone sent me to Grand Forks to get my Oculus Rift + Touch bundle, where they were out of stock. But hey they have one in Bismark (180 miles in the other direction from where I started). Which they really did, the clerk got it out and brought it to the check out... where they promptly told me I had to wait for the one that was on it's way from NEW YORK!?!?!?!!? No, I ordered this in-store pick-up and your effing website said come on down in an hour, so I ran on down to Bismark just to waste the rest of my day for absolutely nothing! Plus, then they kept me in the store for 2 more hours, and to my disbelief still let me leave with NOTHING!!!!!! What ever happened to customer satisfaction? Why am I the one punished for YOUR mistake? Oh, and in the process of trying to figure something out the clerk CANCELLED MY ORIGINAL ORDER! So now when I'm screaming at the manager he's all "well why'd you cancel the order?", and even though it was the clerk's fault since the money was on it's way back to me there no way I was walking out of the store with an Oculus Rift unless I wanted to pay for it all over again. I walked into Best Buy this evening to purchase a Roku device. When I walked through the door I was greeted by the gentleman at the door however as I walked to where the devices were there was 3 employees standing there visiting and playing music. Not a single one of them acknowledged I was there looking at the device stand next to them (which was empty) instead they all walked away. I continued to walk around trying to find where they were kept and to see if I could read more about them because no one was around for questions or help. I ended up finding them, looked around for an employee to help me/answers questions but did not see anyone other than one employee who was helping someone else. I decided to leave with my device because I wasn't being help and I had question on what would be best for what I was looking for. As I was leaving I noticed 5 yes 5 employees standing around a computer desk all visiting. Very disappointing that not one person could come check on us after being in there 15-20 minutes clearly looking "lost." read more
