I stopped by to do some computer shopping. It's been a while since I've been inside of a Best Buy. The layout hasn't changed at all, though the merchandise assortment has been updated in an attempt to stay relevant. It's got to be tough these days. Anyway. The prices around the store weren't bad, and selection was good overall. I was swarmed by sales staff, and I lost track of how many times I had to say, "I'm just looking, thanks." Best Buy sold us 3 broken tv's. One was dented from storage/shipping, delivered by a Best Buy employee or contractor. The other 2 we bought in store and each time we had to pay more for the next TV, even though they originally were similar value TV's. We did not feel like they were very apologetic, though we did get a discount after asking for one. Our time spent alone on going back and forth to the store was costly. Before making the purchase, I specifically contacted Best Buy's installation team and explained that my HVAC system does not have a C-wire. To be certain, I also asked an associate at the Best Buy store the exact same question before buying the thermostat. They confirmed that the included kit was intended for this situation and assured me the installation would not be an issue. On the day of the appointment, the installer informed me that they do not install the Power Extender Kit because it requires work inside the HVAC control board. I was told their policy had changed, even though both the phone representative and the in-store associate had confirmed the opposite before my purchase. The installation refund was expected since the service was never performed. However, the larger issue is the inaccurate information provided before the sale. Customers rely on the advice given by Best Buy employees when making purchasing decisions, especially for technical products like smart thermostats. I bought an Xbox controller in here and realized that the box was used already when I left so I went back and went to exchange it for a new one cause they made an error and so I went to the check out I told the man that the box was used already and if I can switch this controller for an actual new one and he said that "It looks like you opened already because it looks recent". But the controller was missing cable and it was dirty with no gamepass because it came with it, I don't think someone can dirty a whole controller less than 5 minutes and want to return it and that kinda offended me probably because I'm Mexican. read more

I got another verbal confirmation, another delivery date, and then same exact thing happened again. TWICE. They canceled my order again without so much as a phone call or email. If I hadn't called, I would still be sitting around waiting for appliances that were never coming. Meanwhile, my previous fridge had already been cleared out , and I had no way to keep my groceries cold. Everything spoiled hundreds of dollars of food gone. To make matters worse, every single time I called for help, I was met with what can only be described as the most unprofessional, disrespectful, and disgusting customer service I have ever encountered. I was hung up on multiple times mid-conversation. I was spoken to with sarcasm, attitude, and zero accountability. One representative even had the audacity to act as if I was inconveniencing them for asking where my $2,000+ worth of appliances were. It felt like I was being gaslit for even expecting basic information. No one followed up. No one offered any real solution. I was repeatedly told "there's nothing we can do" or "We don't know where it is," as if I hadn't already been through this chaos twice. At no point did anyone offer an apology, a discount, or even a genuine effort to make things right. I was left stranded without everything I had ordered and already paid for, and they acted like it was just business as usual. This experience has completely destroyed any trust I had in Best Buy. I will never shop at Best Buy again, and I will go out of my way to tell others not to either. If you value your time, your money, or your sanity, DO NOT order any appliances from Best Buy especially not from the Bloomingdale location. This is probably the first time in 7 years that I've entered a Best buy, definitely some nostalgia feeling. Unfortunately I can see why they struggle. Came to this location for a car remote product information and mobile install. The first person that tried to help me couldn't even find the product, said go to another area. Went to the other area and I was informed they don't have all the remote starter products here and that I would need to go to Schaumburg to get it and to get the mobile install since they close the mobile installation at this store. Ask some questions about the product, the staff member didn't really seem interested in helping. Asked about the installation process and he said I would have to go to Schaumburg to find out. Pricing here is definitely more expensive than Amazon or Walmart. I don't even know how they keep their doors open. read more

I went to the Bloomingdale store to buy Sennheiser Momentum 4 headphones, online showed 3 in stock. I could not find any Sennheiser items. 2 guys were unpacking several totes some headphones in the aisle with headphones. I asked them where I could find Sennheiser Momentum 4 headphones. I was informed that Best Buy does not carry that brand. I told him online it showed this store had 3 in stock. He pointed at the totes and said must be in here, it will take a while. I went to customer service counter; the man there showed me when the Sennheiser headphones were. On the bottom where it was hard to see they had a few boxes of the model I wanted. I got one and then looked around a little while. Checkout was easy. What a shame the people stocking the shelves do not care if a customer walks out when what the wanted was right there mere feet from them. The headphones were on a great sale and are an upgrade to the Momentum 2's that I have. A bad experience worked out well in the end. read more

I've never had any issues at this store, needless to say, I've rarely had to deal with any staff here. I repair my own computers and Best Buy always carry the parts - HDDs, SSDs, SATA cables, etc. Once, back in the day, whilst studying, my desktop PC just died. I needed a PSU and a SSD for repairs and Best Buy carried both these items. My beloved 5-year old PC was up and running in an hour. They also sell mid-tower cases (not sure about full tower). I really love their curb pickup. Just order whatever line and pick it up at the curb. The best part is their return policy. Just have the receipt and they accept returns without any hassle. I did have one encounter with a "sales kid" working there. He looked 14 years old and had no idea what an "APC Back-UPS Battery Backup" is despite Best Buy carrying several of these units. I did buy the APC Back-UPS Battery Backup and it works great to this day. read more

We had great customer service last night when going to Best Buy to purchase a STEAM gift card for one of my cousins. While we located a gift card that said STEAM on it, unbeknownst to me, it was actually for one particular game on STEAM. The teenage cashier asked about it, thankfully, and had another one of his coworkers get us the general STEAM card that we needed. The cashier small talked with my toddlers and I while we were waiting, since the gift cards needed to be retrieved from the stock room. Do not buy appliances from here! They use contractors that don't know what they're doing for delivery and installation. They installed a gas dryer. We smelled gas and two different delivery guys on two different occasions said it was normal and that the drum is treated with something that makes it smell that way. They don't carry gas meters with them! The one delivery guy pushed the dryer back and crushed the vent hose and put a hole in it. Turns out the dryer is defective and the dryer is leaking gas from the inside! We know this because we called the gas company. The hose was missing from the washing machine and they didn't have any on the truck. If you call the store no one answers or they hang up on you. Do not buy gift cards from this store. They are selling stolen gift cards. I purchased a gift card from this store when I tried to use it the money was already gone! Turns out the code ws stolen off the card the put back into the store! So when the next person buys one , the person who stole it already has the code. Called best and contacted the police. That's how I found out that this happened to many people who purchased cards from this best buy After findingout best buy let this person use the stolen giftcard via a pic on his phone, which should have never happened without the actual card. I gotta say...during the holiday season, you would expect busy, stressed out employees at a store like this. Not this Best Buy! The staff here is friendly and courteous. I have never been so pleased after leaving a best buy store. These employees are helpful and knowledgeable. And if they don't know something, they will find someone who does or find out the answer for you. The store is pretty well organized and very clean. They have ample parking, a slew of near by dining options if you're out shopping and need to grab a bite, and they price match! Did you know that?? I didn't. Not for everything but for things like tv's, cameras, appliances, and other items....I thought that was so cool to learn! Best Buy's shady, incompetent or moronic sales person sold my girlfriend a $49, 5ft, 8k-10k HDMI cable for our old 1080 standard HD TV. I was working from home when she went there to pickup an HDMI cable. She doesn't know the difference and the sales guy (kid?) never even asked her to explain what type of TV we had. He just promptly sold her presumably the most expensive cable they had. The SSA-HOLE sales manager never called me back for my complaint. Bestbuy needs to start firing or training. I had the worst experience at Best Buy today. My son and I called asking if they had Xbox, the women on phone was very helpful and said they did as open box. When we arrived we spoke with another few employees which stated they actually had a brand new one and to stand in line to buy. We stood in line for over 30 minutes. When we got to register the man looked confused and left to go find. You could see him running around frantic. Came back to us after 10 minutes saying they didn't have. Then another gentleman came up and said same thing. We explained what was said to us and rudely he just shrugged his shoulders like oh well! I asked to speak w a manager and he said he was the manager. He was so unprofessional and should never be a manager! Zero apology just rude and frank. This was the Downers Grove location. They gave him inconsistent information at both visits and wouldn't acknowledge a ticket placed through Geek Squad's phone services. Store review: BB is a hit or miss experience. I can't say I have purchased a lot from them in the past 5 years. A virgin mobile cell phone, video games during black friday. Went to the store with my sister for TV shopping, decided to give Best Buy another chance. We have to admit that the technical sales in the store are very knowledgeable, and we are approached by a few of them while we are looking around. They make sure you are being served and your questions answered. They can tell you all the differences between different models, brands, and years, they are very helpful. One thing though is they kept on saying how the different parts of the TV might break and how much it would cost if it does, and that's why we should purchase their protection plan. That really scares me, and I would rather stick to my old TV which seems to be more reliable than new technology. Looks like new technology are built to last for 2-5 years now, instead of 10 years in the past. The fridge we bought only lasted 5 years and we had to get a new one. We end up buying something more expensive than we originally budgeted and we like better, the sales really did a good job. I'm surprised that they don't get a commission on the sales. I would give back another star to Best Buy because of the good experience we have this time. read more
