I will never use the geek squad again! They managed to make my pc run even worse after reinstalling the OS and deleting my files! I would sue them but the fine print on the contract makes this impossible! They are just a terrible terrible company! I don't understand why everyone lets them repair their computer! I will certainly not bring my computer (or any other device) to them again. Their "Plan" just locks you in to a corrupt scheme! I can't believe they are still in business after reading through THOUSANDS of bad reviews! I desperately needed a particular DVD for one of my classes and I had searched the city far and wide. Believe it or not, Best Buy was the ONLY store in the city that had what I needed in stock. Because it's located in Northland Mall, this place was super easy to get to, and the way their DVDs are organized, it made it super easy to find. I just bought a little $300 computer from Best Buy for school. Just needed something that had basic functionality & lightweight for class. Computer worked good, but it had a Windows 10 S operating system. This meant almost all of the applications were accustomed to were unable to be used. Google chrome, chrome cast, etc. We spent a few hours trying to fix. I ended up calling Best Buy and after 2 minute call with geek squad they had me upgraded to a normal windows 10 system. Everything works as we want it to!! They were very responsive and happy to help. It was a pleasure doing business. read more

I was impressed with the customer service I received at this specific location. I tried returning an item at the Sarcee Best Buy but the customer service at the return desk were super slow, which resulted in a very long line up. So I decided to leave and drive over to the Northmount Best Buy and my experience was completely different. No line up and super fast and efficient staff. The service was night and day. This location had plenty of staff ready and willing to assist unlike the other location. I recommend this Best Buy location because they are staffed with experienced and efficient people. read more

Took a bit of time to get someone to help me find a tablet that I was looking for. But once I got a kid (they are all so young that work there) to help me he seemed to know a lot about the tablets. I'm actually surprised this place still exists with the way of changing times. I was on the hunt for an external HD, I needed it stat so I had to go to the store to get it. We were greeted when we got there, and the store was quite empty. Found what we were looking for and was out. Not much staff around so if you were looking for something, might have been a struggle. Samsung Galaxy Tab A - Best Buy should not be selling this tablet. It is defective. I purchased my first Samsung Galaxy Tab A on June 22, 2018 and spent 4 hours having it set up and downloading Apps and Kobo Books. It quit working in August 2018. Best Buy replaced the defective tablet with another one but the latest one quit working October 3, 2018. Again I spent considerable time downloading Apps and Kobo Books and waiting in line for Geek Squad to set up the second one. It is definitely a defective product. read more

I know their big selling pitch is that the employees aren't on commission. But that could explain the bad service. We went to look for a new computer and asked one of their "geek" commanders -- after waiting for someone for over 20 minutes -- what he could tell us about a certain computer. He told us it was pretty much what we saw. Great help. There's a very good reason these guys should be in the back room buried in a computer. Anyway, he couldn't find the computer and we were forced across town for the computer we wanted. Then those jokers at the other store took too long to install the proper programs and set the thing up (two days). And after all that, they didn't even install everything they should have. I'm not afraid of guys on commission, provided they give you the truth and help your shopping experience. These guys don't seem to care that you even showed up with money in your hands. read more

I bought an instant pot ultra for $99 on sale and purchased a warranty for $25 with it. After two months the instant pot stopped working and I took the instant pot to store expecting a replacement since I have a warranty. Guess what they told me to go online and file a claim and bestbuy would issue a shipping label to ship the broken instant pot (I don't know how I would do this since I threw away the packaging that came with it) and I will have to ship it somehow to them. If the pot is found defective, I would get a $99 gift card. Now the same instant pot is not on sale and they expect me to pay $199 to buy a new one. I feel betrayed for getting the warranty. I bought a MacBook Pro, they gave me a defective unit which I returned, and that happened to be a defective unit as well, after exchanging it, they gave me another defective unit. After this, they "flagged my account," and made it so that I could not return or exchange anything from Best Buy, so now I am left with a defective $3200 computer, Best Buy is absolute trash when it comes to customer service and even pricing on almost all non-apple products. I am so BEYOND dissatisfied with the service I have received from the Geek Squad at this Best Buy. I dropped of my MacBook for repairs as I had purchased their warranty service with my mac and they were understanding with my issue. They ended up shipping it off to Vancouver to be repaired and after more than a week they called saying they could not fix it due to the fact that I had purchased the computer less than a year ago therefor I would have to take it into Apple. Surely enough, after I returned home, I checked the receipt and I brought it in a couple days before the 1 year mark but kept it there well over this time. They never bothered to tell me this problem when I brought it in or even check prior to me returning home. So, I had to bring it back to best buy to be repaired AGAIN. Now, they've had it over a week and have come to tell me they still cant fix it and I will have to bring it in to Apple for me to spend hundreds to repair. This has been the biggest waste of money and time. As a university student, I heavily rely on my computer for 90% of my coursework and I can't operate on the loaner computers they offer. No compensation has been offered whatsoever and its going to be weeks before I have my computer back. If you're going to purchase a computer, take your money elsewhere. read more

I have also been happy with the knowledge level of the staff and their willing to say that they don't know but they'll find out. That was one of my latè mom's best tips to those working with people. The fact that it sometimes takes time to find a sales person is the reason why my score for them is a 4 and not a 5 star. By far the best shopping experience I have ever had within an electronics store, not only today yet over several times I have gone to this location to make purchases. The staff is approachable, always welcoming and happy to ask if you need assistance and quite knowledgeable. Even when certain employees are special associates for a particular area they are very quick to get another employee to assist if I need help in another department and their knowledge does not cover that area, always wait with me and make sure to introduce me to who will be helping me. Good prices, offer open box items as alternatives with discounts and overall great customer service. Definitely will continue to shop here. read more

Went in to this best buy to purchase the iPad4. Couldn't find a person to help me for the life of me. Finally I get someone, he says let me grab my manager for the keys. Manager comes over, tells me he forgot his keys. 15MINUTES LATER! he never returns, I walk across the hallway to Future Shop, where their sales associates were happy to help me, and within 5 MINUTES I have the iPad paid for and in hand. One month later, my boss goes in to purchase Microsoft Office 2010 for me to use for business, can't find anyone to help him, and when he does, noone knows what he's talking about. I will never EVER go to this bestbuy again. The Service is terrible, staff is not knowledgeable at all, and management doesn't care when we call to place a complaint. read more

I've frequented this Best Buy MANY times over the years as it's close to home, convenient, and usually has everything I need. However, I had a pretty crappy experience here yesterday. I dropped in to take a look at headphones, seeing as how my crappy $20 ones have broken yet again. I was feeling a bit lost in the aisle as I dont know anything about good headphones, so I asked an associate to help me. He went to track down someone (who I'm assuming works in that department) then returned with said person, a young male who looked to be in a rush. He told me that he was going on his lunch break, so can I make it quick? I said no...I'm looking for a nice pair of headphones, I have some questions. Is there anyone else who can help me? He just said no. NO. Are you freakin' kidding me? I was prepared to drop $250 on headphones but there was no way I was giving the sale to these jerks. I said forget it and walked over to Future Shop where TWO associates were more than happy to assist me. FAIL, Best Buy. Never again! read more

Although I know Bestbuy and Futureshop are owned by very same company and at the end of the day it does not really matter, I will rather come to this one. Absolutely some of the worst service I've ever experienced. Let me first say that I normally don't take the time to write these reviews... in fact, I've NEVER written a negative review before. However, after tonight I had to write this. I had my two kids and we needed to pick something up. I've bought thousands of dollars in products from this store before. When I went to purchase my products the power went down and the teller said she could NOT accept credit or debit and insisted that I walk across the entire mall to take out cash and pay a $2.50 fee. I come back with the cash and every single till is occupied with people paying via credit card and Best Buy is calling the credit card company to verify payment! The cash line was not available and I had to wait for 30 minutes with my two small kids. When I told the manager that this was the worst, most disorganized way to handle a problem he shrugged and walked away... unbelievable! I probably will NEVER purchase another thing from here because of the way I was treated. All they had to do was apologize and then admit that they should have had a cash line open since they insisted on me getting cash and then they should have refunded my $2.50 since they ended up accepting credit which is what I ended up paying with anyway (because the cash line wouldn't open up). I'm so frustrated and upset. read more
