We relocated to C.R. almost one year ago. We purchased a very expensive television from them, prior to our move, and they assured us they would "take good care of us" once we got to Iowa. Numerous trips in person, and three letters to corporate, and NO RESPONSE WHATSOEVER. The Geek Squad hung our TV crooked, messed up our surround sound, set up our Wii with "one touch" access that worked ONE time. The speakers are thrift store quality and they replaced our perfectly good sub-woofer and would not take the one they brought back. WRETCHED customer service. Bought a television on the 17 of August and had it scheduled for delivery today August 31st. between 2:30 and 6:30 pm. I received emails from Best Buy confirming such. I went in to the store and walked to the 4K tv's. I was looking at the TVs and I looked around and there was no one in the area. A girl walked to the desk, she looked at me and immediately looked down and stayed there. I proceeded to walk around the TVs and then after 10 minutes or so I started to leave. As I was leaving I noticed an associate walking and I realized one of us needs to stop or we will collide. I stopped and he just glared at me as he passed by, it made me chuckle. It has a 1 year warranty and says if unable to be repaired, will replace with same or equal value unit. The Cedar Rapids store where it was purchased refused to do anything about it. They sent a technician out to repair it and they say the sound is NORMAL? I've owned several and been around 1000's of refrigerators at family and friends in my 50+ yrs of life and have not heard of 1 other refrigerator that makes this noise. The staff and manager don't care and would not even listen to the video I took of this annoying sound. I even said I'd be willing to pay for an upgrade. All I got was sorry, there is nothing we can do. It's apparent that Best Buy only cares about getting your money. They will never get another dime from me, and I will continue to spread the news of how poor their customer service is and the lack of concern about their faulty products under warranty. We purchased a television as a Christmas present on December 12 and gave it as a gift on December 27. It was first used on December 28. On January 11, the picture on the television stopped working...sound but no picture. When contacted about exchanging the set for the same model, Best Buy said their return policy is 15 days. This is about my Best Buy experiences over 1 year ago. I dont think much has changed. I Was 'enthusiastically' sold a new Lenovo (IBM they said) laptop computer and an Epson Series 446 air printer. Oi vay!!! Also ' enthusiastically' bought a geek squad year and a virus protection service. Lots of products, lots of promises... for this senior... lots of nothing!!! Where shall I start? The computer is so over sensitive that just keeping it from jumping all over at the slightest brush of a hand, a breath... even, is next to impossible. I barely turn it on. And Windows 10??? Why do they have to make a system over with so many unneeded complicated so-called upgrades???? I was fine with my Dell laptop and older Windows. I understood it ,I used it often and could also use its programs. I only scrapped it because it crashed after a dozen years and so I had to get this new monster. At Best Buy, I chose an older woman as my salesperson thinking she would be more honest and sell me ,also an older woman , something I could understand. Hah!!! Was I wrong. Now for the Epson 446 series air printer. What a piece of crap! Simple copying one page uses an enormous amount of outrageously expensive ink. And until you realize all the settings are set to just Blk & White, they make sure your one Magenta or Yellow cartridge runs out so (although you only ever print in b & w) that makes the darn thing useless until you are forced to buy more color cartridges. Now I have post-it's all over to remind myself to be careful to set it all to b & w. And the air printing????? Some weeks ago, I spent 4.5 hrs on the phone w Microsoft and 1.5 with Epson. I eventually was told to get my wifi looked at. To this day, I cannot use the air printing ! And Geek Squad???? When I needed the help, there was the pandemic and by the time Best Buy allowed them to perhaps visit , wouldn't you know it, my year was up, my virus protection was up and for only another $300-400 I could resign. So now, I went online for a virus protection service with a responsive customer service Dept something Best Buy should think about utilizing... that is ' customer service! If I need to print from my phone, I hate the Lenovo laptop, I go to my local UPS for real help with real people. I will never, ever go back to Best Buy for anything ever!!!!! I brought my computer for a check up and to find out ways to increase the speed. I wanted just a "tune up" and maybe new hard drive. I was accosted immediately with talk of a "membership". I Politely explained I do not want a membership, just my computer fixed. So after round 2 of explanations of what will be done, they said the cost is the cost of a "membership" and the hard drive, which I thought was fine... UNTIL they said the "membership" has an AUTORENEW policy. I politely explained I NEVER NEVER NEVER agree to an auto-renew because I know it is impossible to cancel an auto-renew. I explained I do not want a membership, I just want my computer fixed. The kids said they cannot work on my computer without the membership and autorenew. I politely, one alst time, requested they simply fix my computer without demanding me to pay for a membership, they said they cannot. YOU MUST JOIN THE MEMEBERSHIP AND THE AUTORENEW, there is not other options. This means you have to pay them $199 a year for the rest of your life!!!!!!!!! NO way. I must say when I was a teenager I thought best buy was the most amazing place ever. Until I was about 17 and they f'd up my computer. Then again when I was 20 after they formed the geek squad and.... They f'd up my computer again lol. I should have learned my lesson. I then bought a $400 4 year protection plan and my tv broke in 2 years and they tried to replace it with a little piece of junk! They have a lot of inventory but I think that they have quantity over quality. You can get better prices at other stores and I would hate to say it...online. Then I waited for ten minutes to actually get a living human being with a pulse. And that didn't happen. Even worse, as I waited for the answer to my question (remember--the answer that never came,) I scrolled through their website to find that although they have listed what I wanted, it takes at least a week or two to actually GET said product. Luckily my mom was able to get one, but the associate was trying to help two other customers at the same time & lied to us that he had someone who would be coming to help us. Nintendo switch my daughter received for Xmas 2018 stopped charging August of 2019. Called and spoke with geek squad, geek squad confirmed my daughter's gma purchased an extended warranty and we could simply walk in to customer service and swap out the item. After arriving to customer service that was NOT the case. We were told that isn't the policy and it would be sent in and then we would find out in 2 weeks if it was repairable or not. I stated we were told that we could get a new one same day, manager was involved, he allowed us to swap the item. Of course they were out of consoles and it would have to be ordered, no problem. My fiancé informed the customer service associated he would be the one picking up the item. Called customer service, item was there, verified that it was ok for my fiancé to pick the Nintendo switch up. No problem. Fiancé goes to pick up item since I am sick at home (hyperemesis gravadium) And they refuse to give him the item Bc his ID does not match then name on the account (which is my mother) even though we were the ones who dropped off the console, received tracking number confirmation via text and email. I call and speak with customer service via, phone rude as all hell. Tells me that's the policy., is this a joke? He really thinks someone broke into my email and text messages with the tracking number?!? We were allowed to drop off the item and process the new one, but we aren't allowed to pick it up? He was really going to make my mother, who lives 45 mins away show her presence to get my daughter's Nintendo switch? After bitching him out and getting the previous associates involved, my fiancé was allowed the Nintendo switch. Now I understand why the reviews are so damn low for Best Buy. Excellent experience trading in two old iPhones for the iPHone 8 Plus. One of the managers, Marc (from the UK), really delivered in all areas to make the whole experience a seamless and pleasant one. I wasn't sure whether to go with the iPhone 8 Plus or X, and he took the time to explain the differences between the two phones so I would be able to make an informed decision to best fit my needs. He was very respectful and professional in how he interacted with me and co-workers/employees. I honestly have not had this kind of customer service experience in a very long time, and I left the store feeling a little lighter in the wallet, but really happy about it! lol read more

Bait and Switch? I'm in the market for home appliances for my new home. I wasn't even considering Best Buy for my purchase but when I was there for another item I started to look at what they had. The sales associate was friendly and helpful and it was nice to know they aren't commissioned based and pushy sales people. Even though they price match, I was surprised to find what I was looking for (same model numbers as I was looking elsewhere) for a cheaper price! When I came back the next day to purchase, they looked up the items and informed me that they might not be available and suggested other items (higher price). I told them that I didn't want a different item and I was happy with the models that I've already chosen since I've done the research and was happy with those. They then tried to order and said they were out of stock and since its the end of the model year they wouldn't get any more in. They then tried to show me other models (higher priced) again and I told them again no thanks. That's when I heard the sales associate mention to the other worker that they checked the inventory previously and knew it wasn't in stock! Why would a company display an appliance, have the best price around and then not be able to fulfill the order? They wanted to get you sucked in and then sell you something more expensive! I ended up going next door to Sears to make the exact same purchase (they also price match) and they had everything I needed in stock with a delivery date I needed. read more

Staff is so scarce on the floor that you will end up getting asked for help by people needing help from, oh I don't know, perhaps people who actually work there. I purchased 2 Samsung Galaxy 4s and a IPhone 5s... Spent over 500 dollars in the store. The Best Buy representative advised that I get a better insurance for my phones instead of Sprint. He informed me that my phone would be replaced if lost, stolen, or dropped. I specifically asked if it would be replaced with a brand new phone or refurbished one (since I had a similar experience with Sprint a month ago). He said it would be a brand new phone. So I said it would be well worth it (after my almost $500+ dollar purchase). I purchased the Geek Squad insurance for three phones paying 30 dollars a month for the past year and a half. Last week my Daughter cracked her screen. I took into Best Buy to have it checked out and replaced. They informed me the geek squad had changed the policy and I would have to pay $150.00 to replace the phone and put a $250.00 hold on my bank account while waiting for a refurbished phone to be sent to my house. I told them I did not know about their change in policy and it wasn't the policy I signed. So he waved the $150.00 but said I still need to hold $250.00. Once again I explained that I didn't sign that contract and I was unaware to the policy would replace it with a refurbished phone, what happened to the policy I sighed that would give me a replacement phone with a new phone? It seems like the Geek Squad representatives were very familiar with these complaints and did not seem to care whether they gave quality customer service or not. This is a great store for just about anything you want that is electronic. They have a great TV section and a vast array DVDs. There apple section is nothing to write home about but if you want something like that you could probably find it. They also have a phone department that is growing fast. Some of the stuff you would think they would have they do, like refrigerators, car radios, cables of all kinds, and soda and candy. You would be surprised of all the cool stuff you can find just looking around, like a 3D TV. Check there website if your unsure but if its electronic you can find it there. read more
