I have to say it is very discouraging when I stopped in over my lunch break to purchase a TV for the new home and after 35 minutes of waiting for someone to assist with their expert knowledge to answer some questions. I was looking to purchase a new PC laptop OR add Windows to my iMac utilizing BootCamp. The sales associate was incredible!!! She could have sold me a $1000 laptop but instead explained to me how to utilize the program Parallels Desktop for Mac with Windows 10. I appreciated her honesty; her knowledge of Apple products; the time she took to clearly and concisely explain the installation and usage process; and if I had any problems she gave me the number to the store to call her!!! read more

Awesome service and great friendly sales people. Extremely knowledgable and friendly. Look, I've been in this store before, wandering around looking, begging for help. Well, not this time, seems everything and everyone has had a fantastic reformation! I spent only $200 this trip but am planning to purchase another $3000 worth of equipment, sales rep is counseling us on options as I write this. I bought an Asus laptop with a newer processer for $450 and the windows apps wouldn't work as well as sites such as facebook. so I took it back and excahnged it for a better name brand (Toshiba). This computer had the same issues, when I took it back to the store and got my appointment with the Geek Squad. They couln't get the windows store to work at all either. Their suggestion was to wipe everything and start over again but they wanted to charge me another $100 for this when I had gotten this machine just two days prior. When I requested why this was the case from the manager on duty (Jeff) he first off never really understood the issue and didn't seem at all techinal and refused to fix my issue at no cost. When I asked "when you get somthing from anyother retailer and it doesn't work don't you expect them to stand by their product" he didn't have any good replies and isisted that if I wanted the issue fixed to give them more money since I didn't want to buy their "geek squad" plan. This practice of selling lemons to people and asking the consumer to pay MORE to get it fixed could be fraudulant and at best is poor business. Please don't waste your time at best buy, a week later and now I don't have a computer to do my homework on. read more

Let me start out by saying every store has it flaws and most of the time its the employee that makes it or breaks it. My experience has been positive at Best Buy. I always give someone a chance to correct an issue before I jump. Best Buy in Cedar Rapids has been fair and has earned my business. Sometimes it is hard to find someone to help you but my mouth works just fine and speaking up has always got me the help I need. Sometimes when you walk in a store you just want to be left alone to browse, so I don't mind asking for help when I need it. I find this much better than to be asked over and over and over again by 8 different employees if there's anything they can do to help me find something. That isn't to say I haven't been asked at Best Buy because I have. My experience has been, they have been fair and have always wanted to fix any situation that I have had a concern with. I am boycotting Best Buy and I hope you do too. This is why. Back in February I was eligible for an upgrade with Verizon. I ordered a Samsung galaxy s5 65gb online through best buy and went into the Cedar Rapids store to pick it up and active it. Fast forward to this month. I start having storage problems on my phone and discover that I do not have a 65gb phone like i paid for but a 16gb phone. So yesterday i talked to Verizon customer service and the said if i still had the receipt Best Buy would make it right. So today I called the Cedar Rapids Best Buy and the manager said nothing they can do, it is past the normal return period. Even though they clearly were in the wrong. Also, the manager wouldn't even get on the phone with me. So, I called Verizon to see if there was anything they could to do help me. They also called the Cedar Rapids Best Buy and argued with the manager since they were clearly in the wrong. The Verizon customer service agent was so great! We ended up being on the phone for around 50 min. Verizon is going to make it right and send me the correct phone and give me a call next week! read more

I live 2 hours away and asked my elderly mother to call Geek Squad in Cedar Rapids to help her with a PC/Printer issue since they could come to her house to troubleshoot in-person. She called and they evaluated her over the phone, stating it was a faulty printer - and wouldn't even go to her house to troubleshoot! I was particularly disappointed since I did the install and I knew exactly how to troubleshoot - and it was NOT a faulty printer. I'm amazed they went by the feedback they might have given her over the phone since my mother doesn't know enough to give credible technical feedback. Not much of a help for us, unfortunately - they didn't even try, actually. read more
