I'll give Best Buy credit where it's due--they're great at making the sales experience smooth and convincing. Unfortunately, the customer service and support after the sale leave a lot to be desired. In January 2024, we purchased a high-end GE washer. I was a little hesitant since I prefer simpler, more basic machines, but my husband prefers the latest tech. Consumer Reports gave it decent reviews, and we purchased the extended service plan to cover our bases. We thought we'd be in good hands. Just over a year later, the washer stopped spinning. We contacted Geek Squad, and the technician who came out was courteous and professional. He said we needed replacement parts, which we ordered. When the technician returned, we were told the parts were incorrect. More parts were ordered, but even with the right ones, the repair didn't resolve the issue. At that point, we were told we needed a replacement washer. Unfortunately, our model was discontinued, so rather than a simple exchange, we had to pay the price difference for the new model and purchase a new five-year service plan--an additional $300 not long after we had already spent $900+ on the original machine. We called Geek Squad to arrange delivery and specifically asked them to note that the washer would need to be carried up two flights of stairs. We understand that's a tough ask, but we wanted to be upfront. Delivery day arrived after about a month of waiting without a washer. One of the installers immediately started voicing complaints about the stairs, which continued throughout the visit. He wasn't as difficult as a previous installer who claimed the machine wouldn't fit--despite a Best Buy rep having come to measure in advance and confirm that it would. A few hours later, the washer was in and running a test cycle. We even gave the installer a cash tip and some refreshments to show appreciation. Unfortunately, once it hit the spin cycle, it shook violently--clearly not level, which should have been addressed during installation. We went to return an unused part (which we were required to purchase) at the store and asked the Geek Squad representative if someone could come out and level it. He told us we'd need to call a number, as he couldn't help us in person without charging. He was polite and doing his job, but it was frustrating to be told to go home and make a phone call for help that could have been arranged then and there--especially since we'd paid for installation and an extended service plan. This entire experience felt like a series of dropped balls. From incorrect parts to long delays, extra fees, and avoidable installation issues, the process was exhausting. I would not recommend purchasing a major appliance from Best Buy if you're expecting reliable after-sales support. The in-store team is generally friendly, but they're limited in what they can do, and the larger system seems to prioritize process over people. As for Geek Squad, I understand the job can be tough, but consistent negativity from technicians doesn't inspire confidence. In January 2024, we purchased a GE front-load washer and dryer (models GFW850SPNRS and GFD85ESPNRS) from the Best Buy on International Drive in Danbury. We had high hopes that this would be a solid, long-term investment. The units were installed by Best Buy on January 17. Unfortunately, that's where the problems began. Just two months into using the washer, we noticed something off during the spin cycle. It was extremely loud--far beyond what we expected for a modern, high-efficiency machine. We contacted the Geek Squad service team to check it out. Over the next year, we had multiple service visits. They replaced the inverter, then the main board. Despite all of these repairs, the washer eventually failed entirely after just 13 months of use. Because the original model had been discontinued by that point, we were forced to accept a different, newer model as a replacement. But this wasn't a straightforward swap. We had to pay the difference in price between the old and new model and were also required to purchase a brand new Geek Squad protection plan, even though we already had one in place for the original washer. On top of that, we were told we had to purchase new water hoses for the installation--regardless of whether they were needed. I was told I could return them to the store if unused, which I did, but it just added to the confusion and hassle. Meanwhile, the dryer also started giving us trouble. The display panel stopped functioning properly and had to be replaced. On top of that, we've been getting a persistent error code 29. I called Best Buy service several times, and each time, someone came out only to tell us everything was "normal." It absolutely isn't. I requested a replacement, but they refused, leaving us stuck with a product that still doesn't work as it should. The replacement washer was installed on April 4, 2025. As instructed, I ran an empty cycle first. Then I did my first actual load--and immediately, the washer started banging and rocking during the final spin cycle. Turns out, the Best Buy installer hadn't even bothered to level the machine properly. This is such a basic part of installation--it's frustrating that it was overlooked, especially given everything we've been through already. I went back to the Danbury store to explain the situation, hoping for some level of understanding or support. Instead, I was told that if the store sets up the service call, we would be charged--but if I call Best Buy's national number, it would be free. This seems like a ridiculous policy. How is a customer supposed to know which route to take? It feels like a trap to make people pay for service they shouldn't be charged for. At every stage--purchase, installation, service, follow-up--there have been unnecessary roadblocks, miscommunication, and unexpected costs. What should have been a smooth appliance purchase turned into over a year of stress, lost time, and ongoing frustration. I'm sharing this in detail because I hope others can make an informed decision. This experience has completely eroded my trust in this store's ability to support customers after the sale. 0 stars if possible. I purchased a Sony 75X80K 4K UHD LED Smart TV on April 21, 2024 for $957.14 at Best Buy, Danbury, CT location. After mounting the tv and turning it on I realized I was sold a defective TV. I called Best Buy customer service right away to report damage bc the store was closed and was told to bring the item back asap for an exchange or refund. I brought the tv back the next morning for an exchange, less than 24 hours after purchase and was told by the manager, Amanda, that Best Buy is refusing to return or exchange the TV. She refused the return and her only remedy for the situation was to call back the same customer service number. The representative over the phone told me to go to the Norwalk, CT Best Buy location to return the TV there and that it wouldn't be a problem. Why the different location, idk but after driving an hour to that location, the manager there informed me that the in store purchase can only be returned at the original purchasing site and refused to refund or exchange the item. I returned to Best Buy Danbury, CT again on April 23, 2024 and the manager on duty, Steven refused the return. I called the customer service number repeatedly on Monday, the 22nd and Tuesday, the 23rd and repeatedly was promised a refund or exchange that never happened. I tried to return/exchange this item within the Best Buys 15 day store policy time period. I believed I was purchasing a product in good condition. Oh my goodness I haven't been here in a long time and they sell everything from the kitchen sink. No literally I think the kitchen sinks here now, but well definitely a lot of appliances, including pots and pans and countertop appliances to everything you can think of, including a toothbrush. when the line started the form at the customer service, they opened up 2 more counters. I'm updating my prior review from 2017. Back then I was dissatisfied with the fact that I was sold components I didn't require for my TV/sound bar installation. More recently, I brought my car in for a remote starter and the tech people in THAT department informed me my vehicle already had a factory-installed remote starter. They could have gotten away with installing the new device, but decided to be honest and refund my $269. My faith in Best Buy is now restored. Honesty is the best policy! read more

Typical Best Buy. Been to a lot of Best Buy locations and while this particular one is a little larger than some of the others I've been to - it's business as usual. Once upon a time Best Buy really used to be a "good" buy - then they changed and their stock started to suck, their employees got worse, and their prices went up.....you know, all the best things of a good business. Their stock and prices here are typical of most locations. Chances are, you can not only find something you're looking for at a competitor or online that you can't find here, but you'll likely find it for a cheaper price. Something to keep in mind. The employees at this location were actually not bad in my visit. The selection is the same as most Best Buy locations. If they don't have it in stock, they can order it for you usually. The parking lot isn't bad and it's spacious enough. While perhaps you might find a better Best Buy, you could certainly do a lot worse than here. I'd go back. read more

Terrible installation done by Geek Squad. Rather than using the correct parts, they chose to drill out a notch to install the Apple CarPlay connection, destroying a switch blank in the process. They broke a rear bumper trim bolt when installing the backup camera. I understand that on older vehicles, sometimes bolts break so that's not the problem. What is more concerning is that NO ONE said a word about it until I pointed out the damage. To their credit, they did offer to repair the damage but unfortunately they just made the issue worse by using a random bolt/washer rather than getting the genuine part from the dealer. FYI, I purchased 5 rear bumper trim bolts from Toyota for $12 and re-repaired it correctly. Also when installing the backup camera, they measured incorrectly and drilled the mounting hole about 3 inches left of center. Now to fix it, the rear bumper cover has to be replaced, the hole re-drilled and camera re-mounted. If I could give them Zero stars, it would be too many. I have been dealing with Keith at the Danbury Best Buy, and he has been phenomenal. I have ordered all my kitchen appliances and things have gone very smoothly. Keith is exceedingly intelligent and follows through to get the job done. Keith also worked with me to make sure I got the best prices available. I would not hesitate to use Keith for all additional purchases. As a matter of fact, I just ordered a television. One problem with Best Buy is you cannot get anybody on the phone in the store. You must depend on email or an in person visit. They do check their emails, so make to get the email from the person you are dealing with and if it's Keith, you'll always get a reply. I think who you get as a sales person makes a big difference and I was lucky enough to meet Keith and and have his help and expertise with my purchases. read more

Do Not Order large appliances from these half wits! I've picked things up in the store and it's just fine for that. I've even taken a TV with me. But if you intend on having them deliver and install a major appliance - I would think again, and go to your local small box stores. These Bestbuy Geeks are just large corporate dingbats. When you call them, you'll be talking to the Philippines or God knows where. If you push and push enough, you'll get to someone in the United States who could understand what you're talking about. But even then, the promises they will make are usually just empty. We ordered a washing machine from them late June 2019. We had tickets to fly away a day after they promised to install. The day before the install I got a call while I was driving my car that they are canceling the installation!! Yes, that's what they said! I finally got to where I was going and I called them back and I got the Philippines again. This guy said "oh no Sir, it's on schedule you will get it tomorrow"! The next day came and I decided to take a look online really early to see if it's still set that way. Wouldn't you know it, I get online and it shows it's been canceled! So we call again and wait and wait And finally get someone who says no I'm sorry it's been canceled yesterday. When the guy called me apparently because I didn't call him back right away, it just got canceled!!** So after some crying and screaming and being on the phone with them for another hour, my wife came up with "OK fine let them come tomorrow" While we're on a plane to wherever we're going. And get one of my employees to come and wait for them! And pay them!! Well that didn't go as planned. The installation crew was not geek squad, rather some subcontracted outfit. He didn't care whether he put it in or not -no skin off his beak! Because he got there and found out it was a stackable unit and a little bit more work than they were ready to do - So they didn't do it. To this day it was not installed. Today I did it myself with one of my friends and now they have not picked up the old unit and it sits in our driveway. I made an order in September of this year on line, as always for 2 sets of speaker stands, and two Sonos speakers. When the order arrived the driver put everything in my garage. I finally had some time this weekend to put the speaker stands together for my Sonos, and although I saw some damage to the boxes, I really didn't think much of it, but it was missing parts. So the next day, I head down to the store, and meet with an associate inside named Mike, and he helped me bring the items in to the store for me and was processing the return. I was 1 day late of the 15 day return period, and when Mike called up the manager Amanda, she said I can't help you I can only give you a store credit. I said I don't want a store credit and asked to have the credit applied to my original form of payment. This woman could have cared less. She was not helpful at all, and looked at me as if I was a burden. After she said what she said she also advised me that she was following the store policy, and I should have bought the program that extends everything out for an additional fee, and she just walked away. I was totally caught off guard with her response, she then said here's the number to corporate take this up with them!!! Well calling corporate was no help, because all there calls are over seas, and they don't deal with issues like this. I said your customer service!!!! What do you do!!! Amanda knew very well what she was doing, she knew corporate was a waste of time, and she was just patronizing me. Amanda should realize that customers like me who spend money, are the reason why she has a job, because without customers like myself she has no job!!! I have made other calls, but so far there is no responce. I hope I saved someone the aggravation of what I went through after sharing my experience, because I am not doing business with Best Buy again. Oh just an FYI, if you do order from there website on line, if the item needs to be returned, bring it back to the store yourself. I would avoid doing business with BEST BUY altogether. They do not even allow you to call their store to talk to manager where you purchased the item. They give you an off shore call center that does not understand good ENGLISH and is not helpful at all. I used to like them but will never do business with a company that has you call their 800 number and actually tells you that you are not able to call the store and talk to a manager. I drove to my Kennesaw Georgia store and an indifferent lady up front said she would page a manager to talk to me. I asked her how many managers are working today and she did not know. Every five minutes I asked her for help and nobody came to help in over 30 minutes. Go to Costco or Wal Mart where you can actually get help in person when you need it. I have almost always had excellent help and if they could not help me they find someone who can. I have worked with Burcin who was very patient with all my questions and walked me through all my options without rushing me. He was amazing to work with. Recently I worked with Anthony and Keith both with great computer knowledge. Great experience! I had done some research on DSLR cameras prior to my visit. Matt was very helpful in answering all of my questions. He was very respectful and patient as I was very indecisive. The variety of cameras on display was great. I went to multiple Best Buys in the surrounding area and each time, they had a poor display or the cameras on display would not work. Unfortunately, they did not have the camera bundle that I wanted in stock. Matt was able to order it online and was able to give me the price appearing on their website (which was $150 cheaper than the price shown in the store)! Overall, great experience! Well, that was disappointing. I went to my cell phone carrier because my old cell phone was coming off support, and they told me that If they were to sell me a new phone, they would also have to sell me a new plan that would be much more expensive. So they carefully told me to go to a store like a Best Buy or Target or similar and to MAKE SURE I bought an unlocked phone, and I would be able to use the new phone with my current plan. So I went to the Best Buy. First, no ability to get any attention until I went back to the guy at the door who interrupted the salesman standing there staring at his phone and made him help me. Then that guy proceeded to tell me that my unlocked phone wouldn't work on my old plan, many features wouldn't be enabled, and they really needed to sell me a locked phone. When I argued, he handed me off to another guy who said the same thing. They trashed the phone store guy too. If I had been smart I would have walked out and ordered from B&H but I had driven there to get the phone and so I did. Went to Best Buy to compare prices for a MacBook Pro after a visit to the Apple Store, and was pleasantly surprised to receive prompt help from a great gentleman who listened to what I needed in a laptop going into college as a musician. He ended up giving me the best deal possible for the specs I needed, and I walked out of Best Buy with an amazing MacBook that a year later works the same as when I bought it! Came back a couple months ago to find an Aux cord adapter for my car, and even though the system said they had one, it didn't provide a location, and so the staff member I spoke with walked me around the store to any place it would be, and we ended up finding it! A mention must be made to applaud the work of store manager, Travis, when we went into the store yesterday. My husband had purchased an new iPad Air for me and we had some difficulty using iCloud back up functions at home to properly transfer all data from my old iPad to the new. Though it was explained that this type of action is not routinely done in the store, Robert ( at the desk) must have judged our frustration enough to warrant the attention of Travis. Travis smoothly enabled the restoration of the device. Further, since we were so thrilled and offered to buy him lunch, he politely refused explaining that he expects helping customers to be his job. Horrible customer service. I strongly recommend AGAINST buying any large appliances requiring delivery from Best Buy. We bought a refrigerator and paid the extra money for the removal of our old refrigerator. When the men came to deliver the new fridge, they were very rude and complained the whole time. When it came time to remove the old fridge, they refused because there were spider webs on it underneath. We cleaned the webs off for them but they still refused, claiming we had to have it professionally cleaned! Ridiculous! We went to the store to complain and they arranged to send another team out two days later. Once again, another excuse to NOT do their job. They claimed they saw a raccoon in the fridge when they went to get it and the fridge was "infested" again. I made a day voyage up to Danbury to meet my father recently, as we planned to buy a new flatscreen television for my mom for Christmas. Their current living room television was purchased for Christmas...of 2000. We figured it was time for an upgrade, 15 years later, as my mother is wonderful and deserves to watch her hours and hours of MSNBC on a high-defintion screen. ;-) I had done some prior Internet snooping, so I had an idea of what television I thought we should buy. Right away, a member of the crew came over to help us. I found the television I had been eyeing, a Samsung Smart TV, but we were wavering between the 28" diagonal model and the 32" diagonal model. My dad whipped out his measuring tape and asked to see the display sizes so he could, well, measure them for comparison! (The space the TV is eventually going into is a built-in in their living room, so we couldn't get one that was too big for the space, but of course!) I'm the tech person, so I discussed with the crew member the tech specs of the TV. We eventually settled on the 28" model, with his help. We were rung up quickly, and if we spent 10 minuets in there, I'd be surprised. It was a very quick, helpful, and painless experience! As a NYC resident, I'll likely never come here again. (Haaa.) Months of flooding they told me would handle, they sent my claim to sedwick ( their claims agent) and then sent me a letter they dropping as I never responded (after numerous emails- phone calls). I purchased a Samsung Galaxy 9 this summary from Best Buy and ran into a issue with it so I went back to Best Buy holing for their help, but they were entirely unhelpful. In fact, they tried to upsell me to spent more money at their store rather than helping me figure out why my phone wasn't working! Here is what happened: During a routine system update was interrupted which caused the phone to crash. It was stuck in boot loop that I couldn't break, even with a reboot. First top Geek Squad - they said sorry, you don't have a contract with us. We will not help you, not even as a separate repair that you pay for. Their advice? Call Samsung, Verizon, sorry. and don't bother talking to the sales staff because they can't help you either. I decided to try the phone sales staff since I needed help, and they told me that I could always pay off my phone (almost $600 due) and buy a new one - after all the Galaxy 10 was coming out in a few weeks! They offered no other options. Thankfully someone in the store referred me to a nearby Samsung authorized repair shop. I walked in, they looked at the phone, said it just needed to be flashed. It was still under warranty so no charge. I can't believe that nobody in BestBuy was able to provide me any help at all. I miss customer service!!! read more
