Best Buy is my default store of choice for my electronic needs. They have a wide selection of electronics, but do not be fooled by their name... their prices are not always the best in town. Some research is required, especially with their sister company Future Shop as they usually have comparable deals. Their price matching guarantee is also helpful. What is convenient about this location is that there is a Future Shop less than 5 minutes away. The downside is that, like every other store in South Edmonton Common, you need a car to get around. The layout of this store is the same as your would find from any other store. Once you walk in you're (usually) welcome by the front greeter. They may become annoying sometimes, however they are really useful for new patrons or if you're in a rush and do not want to waste time for searching for anything yourself. I found the staff somewhat knowledgeable in their area, however I am very tech savy, so I tend to not to bother the staff. The parking lot does get very busy during the Christmas season, and be ready to wait for +30 minutes in the return line at customer service during boxing week!

Well because it is currently a crazy time of year due to the fact that there are about eight days until Christmas I usually try to avoid the big electron stores; one of them is Best Buy. But I was pretty desperate to find an iTunes give card I decided to bite the built. Form the first moment I walked thought the sliding glass doors I felt my anxiety level shoot though the roof. I decided to flag someone down, find my gift card and then get out. The sweet looking young man, who could probably sense my internal turmoil, pointed me in the right direction. After dodging groups of people whom suddenly stop in the aisles (I hate that!) and avoiding getting hit by shopping carts I found my iTunes gift card in the desired demonization. I was so happy that I actually found one, many of the other stores I had been were totally sold out. I was so close to raising my prize in the air and jump around in triumph. As I was one my way to the cash registers cheap cameras starting at $99 stopped me! After fighting an internal battle with my hand to put the camera back (it was either the camera or food for the month) and just walk away. But walking meant running into the DVD department. Movies are great prices! Again, I found myself just trying to say no! After escaping the great deals on movies I ran into a fantastic price on a Wii system for $119. Somebody was against me today because I just kept finding even better things to buy. I found myself suddenly wishing I had someone to hear my Christmas wish list so that they could pick up a little somethin' somethin' for me. Well, here's hoping that some of those prices stick around throughout the year. I am defiantly not going to Best Buy on Boxing Day; that would be suicide. The staff was really relaxed, which was very surprising because the store was like a mad house. The guy in the DVD department was so awesome. He asked me if I needed help finding anything and when I told him that I did not he notified me where he would be just incase I did need anything. So sweet of him! The guy at the till was also pretty great. He told me about this point plan they had and best of all the point card was free, so you bet I picked up one!

In general, living 5 years in the US makes me trust Best Buy more than Futureshop when it comes to prices, deals etc.

I'm glad I did. it turns out that The Source does price matching! I love stores who do this! You are guaranteed a good price and if you do your homework, you can get the best prices out there. The staff was helpful also. I was looking for laptop speakers and they let me hook up my iPod so that I could get a sense of the quality of sound from each speaker system. That was very helpful. I also got a wireless router and they price matched it to a price I had seen it advertised at another store. I'll be going back to The Source. It was a good experience.

This is probably one of their smaller stores so the amount of stock that they can display is limited but they do manage to fit a lot into the store. I have been to one of their larger stores at Southgate Mall and I can't say that I find that many more unique items there. The staff have always been helpful and present at this location. I had an office in the mall's professional centre so I would often pop-in whether I was really shopping or just passing the time. I always enjoy checking out what new gadgets and toys they have. If you are at Bonnie Doon Mall this is probably your best option for inexpensive electronics/computer needs.

Automated phone lines with A.I. generated responses that could not understand my situation. I am not a computer expert but I knew what I wanted and what questions to ask. My solution took 5 minutes for Reese to develop. I wish there were more stars to give. I was blown away by his knowledge and professionalism. I will be driving past 20 other computer places to get to this particular store. Thanks again Reese. Your new, and now loyal customer.

At the moment, they are just not able to answer the phones due to sheer volume and staffing, so calling for curbside or other information is not possible. It's a pandemic...everyone take a breath, they will still help you out - and with a smile! There is NO in-person shopping. I'd definitely recommend shopping online, getting all your screen shots or part numbers on a list before you arrive to not waste the staff's time as they are BUSY. I arrived and the parking lot wasn't very busy - good sign. There were only a couple of folks ahead of me, and the floor is clearly marked for physical distancing, and someone was at the door to direct guests. Staff were all super busy, and I went late at night to avoid people... the staff were cheerful, HELPFUL, and went to great lengths to find the borescope/endoscope camera I came for (the website said there were 8 in stock,) so it was just a matter of finding their hiding spot. It took two staff to locate it, and locate it they did. I felt safe, staff sanitized the PIN pad after every guest, and I witnessed frequent cleaning by all the staff at the registers. I like to shop local... a lot, and I want to keep my IT peeps fed and housed. I like having a local shop that I can return or exchange items if there's an issue, and Memory Express does that and more for my personal and work needs. Ordering online... you can do that too! They definitely ship, and I wouldn't hesitate except I needed it sooner than later to check my vent for birds/nests - yes it's November/December, but I don't want to block any feathered friends inside before putting on the screening! The only location offering Curbside right now is in Manitoba, however, with the upcoming new restrictions in Alberta, check with them on Monday...that may change!

Yes, the store is junky-looking, the displays are full of obsolete parts and the only way to find what you want is to ask. Obviously, this store isn't meant for people whose life is spent staring at their smartphones. If you have old electronics that's still serviceable with some part that needs replacement, Sterling has the only game in town. I have a Sansui amplifier, strictly analogue that satisfies our needs. I really like the intuitive way this works compared to digital home theaters, for example. Unfortunately, all the dial lights and indicators are incandescent lamps (remember those) so I've had to replace them several times over the 40 years we've had this. The only place I can find some of the strange parts for my amplifier is Sterling. Hopefully, they can keep going as long as the old and obsolete equipment I love continues to work.

This shop specializes in obscure electronic parts... the only real competition in Edmonton is Electronic Connections, which has a way bigger staff. Give them a call if Electronic Connections can't get what you need right away, you may be pleasantly surprised.

Never Shopping at Best Buy Again!…read more This was one of the worst online purchasing experiences I've ever dealt with, and it completely ruined what was meant to be a thoughtful Christmas gift. My sister, who lives in Chicago, attempted to purchase an item online from Best Buy's Edmonton location to be delivered to me. She entered her own billing information and my address as the shipping destination. Her credit card payment was explicitly rejected three times, and customer service later confirmed the rejection, stating it was due to the billing and shipping addresses not matching. Because of this, she abandoned the purchase and successfully ordered the same item from Walmart instead. Despite being told the payment had been rejected, Best Buy still charged her credit card anyway. When she contacted customer service, she was told I would need to refuse the delivery in order for the charge to be reversed. Over the next four days, Best Buy attempted delivery four separate times, each time insisting on a signature. I refused the delivery every single time. Over a week after the final delivery attempt, my sister checked her credit card statement and the charge still had not been refunded. Even worse, Best Buy claimed that the delivery had been "accepted," which is completely false. I would be very interested to see what proof or signature they believe they have. This situation turned what should have been a simple gift into an exhausting and frustrating ordeal. Between charging a card after a rejected payment, refusing to properly cancel the order, and falsely claiming delivery acceptance, this experience has permanently destroyed my trust in Best Buy. I will not be shopping here again, and I strongly advise others to be cautious.
