I visited the Best Buy Kankakee IL store in anticipation of purchasing a new computer and printer set-up on 2-3-2024, a late Friday afternoon. The person who I talked to provided ample information about the type of computer equipment that I need to purchase. As most Best Buy stores, including the one closest to my home, are for the most part self-service, this store was a nice surprise (never been there) I am seriously thinking about making my purchases there. The creep at the door needs to be replaced, followed by the troll passing itself off as a manager. I went there to get a laptop for school. I had to have it delivered. The delivery person who has 1 job, dropped the item.at someone else's house in another suburb altogether. Now, this issue slowed my progress and I went to the store since they cant manage the phones in this store. I walked in and the jerk at the door asked me what I needed. I told him I needed to speak to someone in the order department t about this as I wasn't willing to be charged for this mess. He snapped at me and said he didnt do it so its not his problem. ?? Seriously?? OK, so I asked to speak to the guy who could straighten this out and he just kept coming at me. I finally snapped and told him what I thought of his skills as a greeter. I spoke to the customer service person at the counter and they refunded my money for the missdelivered item. I went to see if I could find one that was in store to avoid this again and get my school stuff done on time. The sales guy on the floor knew less about laptops than I do. So they sent over a female who was once law enforcement to help me. She was great. She alone saved this deal. But she cant carry the entire store. She also informed me that the insurance plan I was sold was more expensive and unnecessary if I bought the membership for 2 years that would have taken care of my electronic issues. So she upgraded my laptop purchase, to a far better unit, didnt upsets me the useless insurance and got me set up on the membership so I can get this fixed in the event something goes wrong. So as I was leaving, the troll passing itself off as a manager got rather caustic with me. He said I needed to treat his friend at the door with respect. The issue was that he had no idea nor would it have mattered to him that I did when I walked into the store but his little buddy got his feelings hurt when he took it upon himself to speak to me as if I was an inconvenience to him and didnt bow to him while I walked in. Not going to happen but this store tucked. The staff there are useless, except for the 1 person who was knowledgeable, professional amd didnt screw me over in the sale. There are other best buys that would be worth the ride to get there if you dont want to deal with rude, immature door staff and their mouth breathing bestie who will blame you for their inability to do their job like adults. read more

Bought a washer dryer. First they delivered late. Then it was the wrong washer. Took it back. Next time around they installed it but it started leaking water... Finally brought it and set it up... I missed three days of work. Hours on the phone. Nothing but crap. This was in 2022 read more

So disappointed in the service we just received. My husband and I were trying to look for a new printer and had been patiently waiting for someone to come help us. My husbands glasses were fogging up as he was trying to read the information about the printers we were trying to compare so he pulled his mask down for a moment to be able to read the information since we were the only ones anywhere near that area . Funny how the employee one aisle over was able to recognize us for that and tell my husband to pull up his mask but never come over to ask if he could be of help. I bought the extended warranty on my tv and then a couple of years later it was power surged by lightning. The store tried to fix it but they couldn't so I bought another tv from them with the understanding that I would be refunded the purchase price of the old tv. I had to pay full amount for new tv and then I would get the money refunded a month later. It has been 10 months and still no refund. I spent an hour being transferred from one person to another saying they would straighten it out. The last person put me on hold for 20 minutes then disconnected. It's several hundred dollars so I'm not going to give up. Unfortunately I bought the extended warranty on the new tv also. read more

I recently bought a 55 inch LG TV from Bourbonnais' Best Buy. When I brought it home after carefully moving it from my car's trunk I opened it in my apartment and the screen was shattered as if someone kicked the box or set something on it. I immediately brought it back to the store and told them of the issue. It had been 20 minutes since I had bought the TV. The manager that day said he couldn't do anything for me claiming I broke the TV. The box had a crease on it where the damage was located, but they stated that it wasn't enough to do enough damage. I am now out 500 dollars and the Best Buy store was no help and very rude about the situation. I have contacted costumer service and they stated I should be able to get a refund cause it's still under warranty but the store keeps denying to help. I will never own a computer without their tech support warranty. They are a box store but staffed with knowledgable people. They do not work on commission and you can tell. They offer honest opinions and will glad share what they know without pressure to make a sale. Their Mobile department will show and compare all the different companies and help find you the right phone on the right carrier for your family. I have been to several different Best Buy Stores- This one is by far the best service and best people around. No big box store can ever make everyone happy but this store works hard at being the best store for your electronic needs. Every TV, Computer, Phone, even small appliances come from Best Buy- but this store is now our Go To Store. *I do not work there nor do I personally know anyone at any Brst Buy Store- just my opinion. read more

Another horrible experience with the Joliet Best Buy. This was my final purchase if a can't successfully get them to take this back. I bought a gas dryer and they delivered and hooked it up but when I ran the first load it did not heat up or dry. The tech didn't bother to check to make sure it worked during the install. Since then the Joliet CS people have provided me with lie after lie regarding someone calling back or getting someone out to correct the issue. They have the worst management and CS of any place I have ever dealt with. DO NOT BUY from them.....anywhere else would be better. read more

If it was possible to give zero stars I would have done that. I bought a dishwasher less than a year ago from Best Buy. I also got the 5 year protection plan. Best Buy does answer the phone. When they finally did gave us another number to call. Then the technician didn't show for the appointment. This has been one of the worst experiences I've ever had with a company. 9/15/15 Around 5:10 pm at the 1584 N State Route 50 Bourbonnais, IL location. I came to the store to make a purchase, found the item I came for, and was pleasantly surprised to find another item I had been looking for was available and in stock. When I went to check out I had to wait in line for quite a while, and I was literally the only one in line. The clerk didn't seem to really know what he was doing and there were quite a number of other employees just standing around doing nothing, and there was only a small amount of customer in the store. When I could finally check out the clerk barely even acknowledged me and told I couldn't purchase one of my items because their stores inventory team "made a mistake". First off that's not my fault and secondly if it's on the sales floor it should be able to be purchased. The clerk just told me too bad and that it wasn't his fault. Moral of the story is I will never step foot in this store again. read more

Eric, the car audio install tech, offered me a terrible experience. I've worked with Best Buy for years for all of my business tech needs and never had any issues. Everyone I've interacted with has been professional, knowledgeable and courteous. Eric interrupted that streak yesterday. I bought a stereo head unit online and Best Buy advertises they will install it for you for $260. I have no experience and didn't want to ruin my car so I took advantage of it. I scheduled online, showed up, and immediately I could tell Eric had zero interest in installing my stereo. He told me that "the way this works is, for $100, whatever works, works, whatever doesn't doesn't. I don't troubleshoot nothin because stuff like this ain't nothing but a nightmare". Not professional but whatever I can get over that. I've done my research on the unit and talked to people who have it and they say there won't be any issues. This guy is smart and if they can figure it out, I am sure he can. I sign the paperwork, Eric takes my car and gets to work. I walk around for 30 minutes worried that I made a mistake because it was obvious the only way Eric would be proven right is if the unit didn't work. Low and behold he calls me to the desk. I walk in and he shows me a plug that is supposedly for my backup camera that he says will no longer work (along with ALL of my steering wheel controls) because it doesn't fit in the unit. "I've been doing this 12 years and unless I've forgotten how to plug things in then this ain't working". Again, not professional but I am thankful for the out. At that point, I just cut my losses and told him thanks for trying and to forget it. He packs it up I sign the paperwork and I am on my way. I have literally ZERO experience working on car audio or electronics in any form. I got home and followed the basic instructions and I had it installed and functioning flawlessly in less than 90 minutes. The supposed backup camera plug was not the backup camera at all. It was a totally different connection. My backup camera works, all of my steering wheel functions work. The install was pretty straightforward and easy for someone who has NEVER taken anything apart on their vehicle before. It was obvious that Eric had no interest in making my head unit work. Had he invested about 5 minutes of time, he could have figured it out based on his 12 years of car audio experience. Based on my literal 0 seconds of experience, I had it done in less time than Best Buy guarantees. I would HIGHLY discourage anyone from having Eric do any work on their vehicle. If he doesn't want to do it, it won't get done. read more

Buyer beware!! Best Buy is known for "bait and hook". I tried to buy a laptop on display for $299 and they did not have it in stock, nor were they going to get any more (should have taken it off the sales floor!). The associate showed me another laptop that was going to be on sale the next day for $299. I did not want to wait and told them I wanted it for the regular price. They had three in stock and would not sell the laptop to me because they needed 20 in-stock for the sale the next day! Best Buy is rotten!! I preordered a game online and it was finally delivered (much later than anticipated) while waiting for the game I found it $10 cheaper at WalMart and readily available. Since the game had already shipped, I couldn't cancel the order. It came today and I went to Best Buy to return it. Due to the Covid 19 outbreak they are only taking everything curbside. An associate promptly came and asked me what I needed and I told her I had a return. I opened the package it came in right in front of her. Out comes who I think is the manager and he hastily says "since you purchased online you will have to go through the online returns process" the other associate told him "but it's brand new. She never opened it, and she has her order pulled up." He said it didn't matter and he took off. I drove 20 minutes for nothing. Worth noting I did call within business hours twice and the phone just rings. I was stuck going home to try and figure out how to issue a return. Sadly, it'll probably be at least 10 days until I get my $63 back. The website clearly states online even online orders can be returned to any store. This store didn't honor that policy. read more

The customer service sucks. I bought a computer for work a couple of days prior to me returning to the store. I was waiting to ask for help because I needed a corded mouse and keyboard, the young lady decided that I could find them myself and she went a help an older couple. I was ticked because I had been waiting for a least 15 minutes. I paid good money for my computer and I feel like they did not want to help me. I talked to someone and I will not be buying anything from that store again. I am tempted to return my computer but I just started a new job and need it. I found what I was looking for at Walmart. I did pay for the geek squad but that is the only thing I will be dealing with at this store. Never again. All customers should matter. read more

Had to replace my built-in plasma TV all the wiring was built-in the walls and traveled from my living room to my basement. I replaced it with a 4k curved TV new blue-ray, receiver, and universal remote, I am impressed by the installation crew They were very professional and did a fantastic job. My family and myself have spent a lot of money here in the last few years. Computers, TVs, PS3 etc. I'm a buy online kind of guy but I like Best Buy so I support the brick and mortar stores. I purchased my last cell phone through Best Buy as opposed to a Verizon store, an HTC android phone, along with the insurance and accessories. The phone is a total pos. As of 3 days from now I'll be using my fifth different phone due to the same problem during this contract. Not Best Buy's fault per se. The process each time to address the issue is a time consuming insult to my intelligence and as of last night convinced me that once my contract has expired with Verizon in Dec., I will make it a personal goal to not spend money with Best Buy, Verizon or HTC again in the future. I had to basically intimidate my way to getting a replacement phone while mine is sent out for 3-5 days for service due to Best Buy currently having no replacement to offer. I use my phone like most other people do. Business 24/7. Family. Unacceptable. I'm writing an email to corp. If I get a positive response I will reconsider and amend this review. If not I will shop Best Buy like most people do. I'll walk in, ask questions, go home, buy the product online cheaper. One star for horrible service. read more

I have lived in this area a long time. This is an awful store. I just got off the phone with someone claiming to be an area supervisor. He did not know anytrhing that was going on with my order- he just continued to tell me how the ordering system works- though I repeatedly explained that none of the things he said had occured with my order. In the end I canceled the order- an order that I had already paid for- and will go to another store and make my purchase. I would not recommend this store to anyone. read more

I am a huge fan of the way technology works and advances and although Best Buy is not always the lowest as far as price I buy 99% of my components from Best Buy. Geek Squad is always helpful and polite here, the products I purchase here have always been in perfect condition, and the staff is friendly and helpful. The protection plan they offer for phones and such is unmatched among any AT&T or Apple warranty. As IT manager at my job I orchestrate all of the business tech purchases from this store and have yet to be unhappy with the service. I DO recommend this store to everyone. read more
