When I arrived at my destination and opened the package, it was obvious someone had tried to install the glass previously and failed. The manufacturers wipes were even opened and loose in the box. Ok, so I know that big box stores always get a bad wrap, but I have always been so impressed by employees willingness to help whenever possible. I can be pretty demanding and at the same time indecisive (bad combination dueling characteristics) yet the BestBuy employees have always been so patient and helpful despite these weaknesses. Our washer and dryer took a shit and my husband and I ran in here last minute to buy a set. Ty (I think that's his name) the guy with the dreads, is so fucking helpful. Dude knows his shit. It was almost closing time and he helped us pick out the best washer/dryer set for our family. We're typical last minute people and we walked in right before closing but Ty didn't mind. We are currently looking to buy a tv and we came back here looking for him. He previously sold us a sound-bar which we loved (again, last minute buy). I have never experienced such horrible customer service from a manager before, to have an employee/supervisor help You out when the manager is next to them because she didn't know how to answer our questions is completely unprofessional, refused to help us out even though she was around. Went to buy a washing machine (a Samsung) because our home flooded when our old one broke, so we bought the washing machine and because of house repairs had them hold it for two weeks give or take, then we received a call from Best Buy saying they were sorry but had sold our washing machine and could not order another, they said to go to the Best Buy we bought the machine from and we would get a full refund in cash. Since that's how we paid; the manager the proceeded to tell us they don't do refunds, then realized she messed up and said only check or store credit. We said we had another option given to us to get our money back in cash. She then said that was not an option and walked away, and had an employee help us. After much debate back and forth we finally agreed to the check, because there was no way we were buying anything from there again. After the refund was issued as we were walking toward the car I noticed they shorted us 24 dollars. We went back and notified the employee immediately of the mistake she looked at the two receipts and noticed it, instead of notifying the manager so they could add it to the check, she jut opened the register and gave us the money?!? Like first you tell us you can't give cash refunds, when I asked her she said they had a limit in how much they could give back. Had I known that I would have asked what the limit was. I proceeded to get customer services number and dealt with them instead, I received an apology from them and felt immediately relieved that our issues was addressed, now If I need something I go to another Best Buy location. I'd say about 20% of this staff knows the product. I have a friend who works at this store so I typically go straight to him if I need someone's technical advice. I build my own PC's and I'm an enthusiast so I shop for parts pretty often. This store doesn't carry many components so they usually have to order. Also it seems like Best Buy isn't a normal retailer for certain ASUS component products which really sucks. The reason I do shop at Best Buy when I can is the reward system, price policy, and the fact that it's the only good electronic store in 50 miles - or so it seems. read more

We purchased a 720.00 Samsung Galaxy 7 active cell phone on January 31. Yesterday, this phone became unresponsive (touchscreen). Spend the evening following you tube tutorials on how to fix this problem. To no avail. My son took his phone to Best Buy to ask for help In Resolving this issue. They looked at the receipt and said, "no its past 14 days and you didn't buy our 150$ protection plan. We won't help you." I phoned Samsung customer service, and after troubleshooting for about 30 minutes, they sent me to Best Buy, as this was their CONTRACTED support service. The same place that showed my son the door? Okay, then it's my turn. I went to this place. Their "contracted technician" left, conviently, just before I got there. Oh, and it's his days off, so he's gone for 3 days! So NO ONE in this store can POSSIBLE help! Reset, I head to the At&T store, where they greet me with courtesy and genuinely try to help. We discover the phone is past help. A second call to Samsung customer service and the phone is shipping to be fixed or replaced. FOR FREE! Under warranty!! Let me preface this by saying I work in customer service AND I never felt the need to sign up for a yelp account until now. 8/1/16 So I buy a camera from another Best Buy out of town on my way to Disneyland for the week. I have some very high end electronics, including DSLR cameras, so I know how to take care of them. It was in a leather pocket in my purse the entire trip. It started acting a little quirky but on top of that the screen got far more scratched up that I feel is ok for being in a pocket lined with leather and never having any more in it than paper Disneyland tickets. Being unhappy with several things of the purchase, when I got home, I decided to return it and keep searching for a point and shoot I was happy with. (kind of hard to do when you're used to higher end cameras) 8//8/16 Anyhow, I bring my receipt and camera still with all the goodies in the box (some of them not even out of the packaging) and only 7 days after purchase. This was in the evening and the young lady behind the counter walks away and goes off to whisper to the male manager who is on duty at the time about it. Just as I was about to walk over to them and explain they can discuss it in front of me or ask me any questions that they like, she came back over. She told me they couldn't accept my return because the screen was scratched up some. There was also a TAD bit of the coloring that came off around the lens area. Mind you, I do understand that it was "damaged". However, there were no DEEP scratches or dents or signs of abuse. One of my biggest problems though is that it wasn't acting right on top of all the other issues. And the fact that it scratches that easy is a problem for me. After I explained that, the manager tells me cameras weren't meant to be put into a purse pocket. *blank stare* It's a COMPACT POINT AND SHOOT...that's exactly what it was made for. But I don't make a big scene because I'm just not that type. 8/9/16 The next morning I call to speaking to the store manager. First off, they never would transfer me to her. Second, I finally tell them why I'm calling and they come back to tell me that she was the same one I spoke to last night. *another blank stare* So your general manager was working the night before AND now opened the next day??? AND you're going to straight up lie to me? No, I didn't speak to the store manager last night. I spoke to a regular employee and a MALE shift manager. They proceed to tell me that they can do nothing for me but that I'm welcome to call the 800 number for Best Buy to see if they can help and THAT was the best advice they could have given me. I call them, they are flabbergasted that I couldn't return it They try to contact the store and of course can't get through so they contact another store (Modesto ~ a 60 mile round trip from me) and explain so I can return it there. The CSR is SO great and very apologetic and goes as far as to even contact the District Manager for me. So yes, I'm glad they told me to call, because Best Buy even confirmed to me that Merced and one other store are KNOWN for not accepting returns that they should be accepting and now they (and the District Manager) know I had to make a 60 mile trip to return an item that I should have been able to return 2 miles from my house. read more

I would urge people to not shop at this Best Buy! I had a car stereo installed over the holidays, and I have had a burning wire smell in my car ever since. I took it back to complain, and they kept my car for a day, and then told me, "the wires just have to get used to being in your car!" What kind of BS is that? Not to mention the fact that when we took the car back, we waited a good 15 min. before anyone even acknowledged us, and then their vocabulary consisted of "dude" and "huh"! On February 26, I recieved unfriendly customer service from Bestbuy's manager in Merced, CA. when I almost purchased open box keyboard and mouse with label on the box showing "no missing items" which price about $50. However, I found out that this product had missing item, and told one of Bestbuy's employer (named Derek) , unexpectedly, his answer pushed me down, and also his action and his response were unfriendly and not respected to me as a customer. Later, I told him that I would like to talk with a store manager about Bestbuy's products which missing item but shoe label on the box with no missing item. I also wanted to let the store that I decided to not but this product because of unfriendly, bad customer service from this store worker. Sadly for Bestbuy company, a worker who treated badly was a store manager, so he told me that he was the one highest position in this store, and ignore me when I asked customer service phone number. He told me to go online by myself. Moreover, he started discriminate me with my Asian's accent. Lastly, he took advantage from my lack of english speaking to manipulated the others in the store and made me look like a person who did something bad, and called cop to kick me of from a store. However, cop came in the store and did nothing to me because I was just customer who wanted to buy the products from Bestbuy, but received discriminate, unfriendly, and unprofessional customer service from a Bestbuy's Merced store manager. Last but not least, I appreciated for how badly service from this store manager because he helped me, my family, and my close friends who I shared my badly customer service experience from him stop go and buy the products from Bestbuy. Thanks again for discrimination to me, a customer who speaks English as a second language. Note: In recently, I took customer service class from Merced College, and leaned that good customer service should "put yourself in your customer's shoes." I go to this store 2-3 times a month and things must have been quite different when the other reviews were written. Customer service here is quite good. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The selection is smaller than the Fresno store but Merced is a smaller market. Some items, such as the iPad, are not kept in stock. Their selection of most items from MP3 players to TVs to home theaters and video games is pretty good though. Overall, it has better customer service but a smaller selection of some of the more specialized items than the Fresno store. One thing it is not good for is anime DVDs. The selection is very limited. read more

This store is absolutely horrible. Don't get me wrong, the customer service people there are nice, but the manager is a jerk! My mother bought a game and was promised a price match over the phone, when she did go in so they could refund the difference 2 days later, they denied her because the girl on the phone forgot to mention that price was a "deal of the day" and if she wanted that price, she had to be in THAT DAY. After God knows how long on the phone with corporate, I was told to contact the store manager as he could override the price. Sure enough that's what I did, and after another long wait on hold, he told me he didn't know why corporate told me that, and he couldn't override it. He wasn't willing to work with me. So I called corporate again and asked if what he said was true, she laughed and said he's the manager and he could IF HE WANTED TO, but more then likely he didn't. They didn't want to price match an item to their own website and because THEY gave us inaccurate information, we don't get refunded the difference. It's way easier just taking it back and buying it from Walmart where it's the price we wanted anyways! All that hassle, a few less customers they have to worry about! I needed a simple coiled stereo extension cord. It doesn't GET any simpler than this. In the past, while it seems as though Best Buy has not had the simple items I needed in 9 out of 10 cases, it was probably realistically more like 7 out of 10. Whoever chooses the products you carry is perhaps mentally handicapped -- s/he is certainly stupid. For this reason I almost never go to Best Buy. I'll drive dozens of miles out of my way to avoid you. In this instance, however, even I, Best-Buy-Doubter extraordinaire, knew (I KNEW) you'd have this item. You could probably even get this at Safeway. I entered the store and the security/greeter asked me if he could help. I gladly showed him what I needed and he pointed to an aisle. I walked to it and another of your people very courteously asked if he could help. I showed him what I needed and he took me to a rack. Of course, as always, Best Buy had everything EXCEPT the absurdly simply item I needed. Any coiled stereo wire would have worked, in almost any length from, say, one foot to five feet. Just a simple mini-stereo plug. That's all. No more, no less. But of course you didn't have one. Oh the surprise. I turned and headed for the door. There were now two other employees standing with the security personnel. One asked me if I had found what I needed. I said (verbatim), "No, you don't even have a simple stereo cord. I mean really." And I kept walking. I hadn't even stopped. That's exactly, precisely what I said, verbatim: no more, no less. Behind me I heard this line, which started out very loudly and ended on a word I couldn't make out precisely as I moved away. This came from one of the three -- I'm nearly positive it was the one who had asked me if I had found what I needed: "Well, sir, I guess next time you could shove it up your ____." I didn't hear the last word clearly, though reasonable people, including a judge, might surmise it was ASS, and I "believe" that's what it was. This is pretty much how I've always been treated at any Best Buy store I've struggled to conduct business with. This is the worst incident, but not by much. Your stores seldom seem to carry simple, everyday items. Your prices are absurd. Your store layouts and checkout systems are nothing short of bizarre. Your staff is staggeringly clueless, and often borderline rude. In this case they were far beyond rude. Many people would have simply turned around, walked back inside, and put all three on the floor. Luckily I didn't choose that option. Obviously I'll never do business with you people again. We use them regularly, mainly because their competition, Staples, is a joke, and outside of that, they are the only game in town. That being said, they still fall horrifically short in several areas, the first that comes to mind would be customer service. The second is, hmmm, customer service. We just returned a computer, it couldn't get out of its own way despite it's specs, and I was going to look at a laptop. Some idiot was testing speakers in the back of the store, and while I understand you need to test drive them, if a customer (me) complained, why would the store not request (or insist) the noise level be brought down below vibration level? We left. I called to let the manager know they had again missed out on a hefty sale (this has happened before) and I stayed on hold for over 7 minutes only because I wanted to see how long it would take them to get to me when there was only two customers in the store. Buyer beware of Best Buys return policy. I wanted to return a $9.99 item which I purchased on Black Friday with my credit card. The clerk asked for my ID. I showed my drivers license card and the clerk wanted to scan it into the computer. I asked why and she told me that she can only do the return if she can scan my driver's license. I waited patiently for the manager which, after she finally showed up, did not want to do the return without scanning my drivers license. I rather loose the $9.99 than to have my vital information stored in some computer system that can be hacked into. read more

Wow. I just left Best Buy (in Merced) after being in the store for at least 30 minutes.. I was attempting to purchase an iPad. I had only one person acknowledge me, and told me she'd "help me in a minute".. After waiting near the register and iPad accessory area for over 20 minutes I realized that no one was going to help me. So, I walked out. Apparently, they cannot afford enough associates to help me, however they CAN afford me to walk out with the $700 I was going to spend. Unreal.
