Best Buy sells you a product, then disappears unless you buy a Geek Squad membership. I had a simple question on pairing a new Apple Pencil with a new iPad purchased for $900 total. Wouldn't pair. Phoned this store and the Geek Squad and was told to call Apple. I wrote a Google Review, Owner told me to send to general "contact us". Into an endless loop that goes nowhere. Drove from Port Colborne back to the store in St. Catherine's for personal service,....was intercepted at the door by an Apple Rep who asked if he could help. He fixed the problem immediately and when asked about a place for lunch nearby, he offered up "The Feathery Pub" which turned out to be amazing. A non-Best Buy person saved the day. The person that sold us the products a week earlier could not be any less interested in selling my 93 year old mother the proper product, he just wanted his commission for selling us more than we needed. I am an Android user, but hats off to Simon from Apple who was amazing ! I wrote: 2 days ago Purchased a new iPad and pencil for my mother. Could not get the pencil to pair. Best Buy & Geek Squad would not help by phone unless I had a membership. Came back to exchange pencil, but were intercepted by "Simon" from Apple who was at the store providing customer assistance for Apple Products. We had the best experience at Best Buy purchasing our microwave oven. We went to the Best Buy in Tacoma as our microwave went on the fritz. We ran into an employee there named Casandra who was simply amazing. She guided us thru the process of purchasing the microwave and the trim kit and when they didn't have the trim kit in stock at Best Buy, she helped us navigate different places other than Best Buy, where it was in stock so we could get our microwave installed ASAP( kind of like in Miracle on 34th Street when Santa Claus would refer people to Gimbels if it wasn't in stock at Macy's). My hats are off to Best Buy and CASANDRA, who I will buy all my appliances from in the future. read more

The BB truck driver tried to hit me with the BB truck. I was driving on a one-way street where only the cross-traffic stops and the Best Buy Geek Squad box truck was on the cross street. At first I thought the truck was stopping, however, as I glanced to the left to be sure, the driver looked at me and punched the accelerator in an attempt to t-bone my car. It was everything I could do to stop and I was inches from hitting a pole. The truck kept going but I got his plate number New York 81748-MJ. I called BB and was routed to a national number who informed me that the store would call me back, they did not. That truck driver is a lawsuit waiting to happen, this is everyone's warning that BB employs dangerous drivers, beware. read more

Absolute atrocious service when it comes to servicing policies as well as coverage policies. My mac book air has coverage through geek squad and best buy. Neither Best Buy or Geek Squad will honor my policy despite me continuing to pay for it on a monthly basis. The coverage is suppose to cover repairs and a loaner computer while we are awaiting the repairs. They have indicated that they will not do this and said that our best bet would be to purchase a new computer. Very disappointed and will be canceling my service immediately. read more

I purchased a Sony 65" TV from Best Buy 30 days ago. It was fine at first, now it has a verticle red line through it on any station. I have contacted Best Buy online, waited 9 days, with no contact. Came here during American Thanksgiving and it was busier than I expected. It was also busier than the staff expected, too, I think, because they were running around like chickens with their heads cut off. I knew what I wanted, a DSLR camera kit that was on sale, and just wanted to buy it. I had no questions. I just wanted them to take my money. And yet I couldn't get any help and it took literally 45 minutes to get it. Then the guys tried to upsell me on their stupid warranty when I was clearly annoyed. Then the stupid visa machine was broken so I had to get into the gigantic line. Then when it was my turn I go up to the cashier and a different cashier tells her that he'll take care of me, so I had to wait for him to finish with his customers. Then he tries to upsell me on the stupid warranty AGAIN. Wasn't impressed. read more

I came in viewing the iPads and asked multiple sales staff what their thoughts were on each model. I was interested in the iPad Pro, and asked one staff member what makes it better, his response was a vague 'everything about it is better'. It was such a generic response, that it really bothered me. When I decided on which one I wanted I asked another sales staff if the iPad was even in stock, her response was, 100% it's in stock. She didn't check on the computer she just flat out stated that. So I wasn't worried about trying to find it. After looking at cases I was ready to go purchase it. I asked the 3rd sales staff for the item. He comes back and tells me that it wasn't in stock. You could imagine how infuriated I was. When I informed this 3rd sales staff that his co-worker was positive they had it, his response was a mere 'that's unfortunate... She's the manager too so she should have known'. So my recommendation to anyone who has read this far, to not go to this Best Buy location. The level of knowledge for products is poor, clearly have poor customer service and poor choice in who they hire as managers. read more

We bought a Sony 55" tv April 2018, about 6 weeks ago we started having an issue with it where I would turn it on and it had sound but no picture. This would last from about 1 minute to about 30 minutes. This happened for about a week then it stopped doing it. Then on May 11 when I turned it on I had sound and no picture. That lasted for about 3 hours then picture came on. After about an hour of no picture I called Best Buy to set up an appointment for someone to come out and look at the tv, as we purchased the Geek Squad protection. I was given a 800 number for the Geek Squad. The gentleman had me try a few things to no avail. He transferred my call to someone else to set up an appointment . That person set it up so a repair man would call me and set up an appointment . Monday afternoon I hadn't heard from the repair man so I called him. He informed me I was out of his area ( he was in Hamilton, I live between Niagara Falls and Fort Erie). I had to call the 800 number again. It was very frustrating to deal with these people, they were located in Columbia. I was told someone would call me on Thursday and possibly set up an appointment . On Tuesday I called the 905 number on my receipt, I was talking to someone in BC. Sulki was very helpful. Wednesday I still hadn't heard back from anyone so I called the same number. Tyler the manager was great he gave us a number from a local repair man. WE didn't hear from the repair man onThursday so we call Tyler again. He said that because we seem to be getting the run around, if we took the tv in he would give us a bond new one. I took our tv in Friday morning, Tyler wasn't there but Jamal the manager was excellent in dealing with the situation. I ended up leaving with a brand new tv. I would just like to thank Sulki, Tyler,Jamal and the young lady who helped locate the new tv for me and cashed me out. After the run around we got I am very pleased Best Buy came through. I am livid after the #1 Geek that is supposed to plan and schedule training classes for new Apple owners like me admittedly screwed up for the second time. This computer costs a fortune and is worth its weight in gold..but there are things I cannot do without training first. I have had this laptop for a month now and I still need to learn the basics. Not only that but gas is $1.25 per litre today but this guy must still take the bus and not know that. I had to travel across town twice for this course that is supposedly happening next week. (yeah right). When I showed up for the first course, it was not after hearing a bunch of stories about his grandmother, his dad and his niece did my husband and I realize that we were not getting the course we signed up for but something totally different. Geek #1 had forgotten (once again) to update the store website. Let it be known that I was not the only customer that was upset about this situation. Here are some suggestions I have to improve this issue: 1. Get someone with a little more maturity to teach and that is not so self absorbed and that can handle making a sticking to a schedule. (people have lives!) Geek #1 is very knowledgable but the buck stops there. Get someone that is more rounded. 2. The teaching area is simply not proper. This type of training should be held in a closed door room where people can concentrate and not be distracted with store goings on. What can Best Buy do to redeem themselves? have Geek #1 come to my house and give me private lessons. The bus comes this way, it will take him a bit to get here....but the bus does come by here. Extremely disappointed. I buy about $1.5K of electronics a year. I bought a Phillips TV from BB in January. The sound, as with most TVs is poor. I have been trying to get a sound bar that would match the TV. I have been through 3, all recommended by BB staff -- 2 Bose, 1 Sonos. All have sound delays so that speech does not match what is on the screen. I am on my fourth sound bar -- Polk, which gives incredible sound, much better than the other three, but has the same problem. The Polk was not a recommended buy from BB staff. As someone with a hearing disability, I tend to read lips. I either watch the TV or listen with the Polk: it does not coordinate with the TV, although the staff person assured me it would. I am incredibly disappointed with the lack of expertise of the staff and their lack of knowledge of the products. I had five episodes on December-March in which I went and had very poor service. In one, I waited 30 minutes for a representative. I asked for someone to help me. The "service"person said they would get someone. I made a second request 15 minutes later, and left 15 minutes later when no one had appeared. Several of the other encounters were similar. I'll het someone and no one appears, even after multiple requests. Meanwhile service reps were talking with one another. I have had numerous iterations of this. Wanted a TV at Christmas, was told it met my specs. Got it home and it didn't. Happened twice for the same purchase. Tired of spending 45 minutes each wary for incompetent service and ignorance. Will probably keep the POLK because it has clear audio, although I can't listen and watch at the same time. Will do Amazon, Apple. or Canada Computers for all other purchases. even if slightly more (not always), they are more reliable. read more

Well, I'm use to The Amazing Future Shop experience which really should have carried over to Best Buy whom bought Future Shop!! Anyways, I had a ______ tablet, ___ inches of awesomeness and got the total warranty package so (in their words) if I threw it off a roof and smashed it they would either fix it or replace it up to 3 times. "However" that's a total lie. I brought it in yesterday, spent 6 hours trying to locate a new one and found out that they don't really replace it, because the new tablets are more expensive and even though its pretty well the exact same, they just want to refund my money!! So YA, no replacing it then huh? They are shipping my tablet to HP who doesn't even make them anymore so.... In reality, I spent $23 a month for a guarantee to replace or fix (and I have the picture of the contract which says that AND only that, no small print) and I'm sitting here with some crappy _______ (because as Braedon "the sales clerk" said, are all the same components on the inside anyways, which is lie number 2) that they specifically told me could get apps from the Google Play Store but WON'T!!.. Not only is it moving at a snails pace, but is the worst computer I've ever been on in my life and I once owned an Amstrad at age 13 lol.. Future Shop was amazing, if something broke and you had a warranty they would replace it, even if they had to upgrade you a little!! I'm so upset I cant even think straight. I'm taking this DELL back today and am shaken up from sheer anger and frustration (as it took me 2 hours to get the stupid thing to stop "not responding!!) and I'm not taking their crap this time. I hate being on the losing end, with a deceitful corporation, apparently built on lies. I'm obviously going to have to buy an expensive brand because that's the only one in the entire store with the size and abilities I want but is still not Android. My tablet was so easy to navigate that my 1 and a half year old was using it with no difficulty "at all". My plan to get back at this evil corporation is to purchase as many tablets and laptops that I can in 2 weeks and bring them back every second day only to grab another one. At least then I'll have some fun and the money that they will make from me in the end will be eaten up by a ton of open boxed items which will have hundreds knocked off their prices -bwahahahaha. I will then go back and purchase the open boxed item I want; that my husband just returned and purchase it in my name. Now, if they had just been upstanding in the first place and not lied, connived and scammed me. I would have been fine to pay a few hundred extra to get what I wanted. It seems others have had the same thoughts as I, because while I was there I overheard the Geek Squad saying that they were losing thousands from the sale of these total package warranties.. ITS JUST A CASH GRAB!! DONT GET THE WARRANTY!! You will lose money in the end as well as your mind!!
