We are very pleased with the service at Best Choice Automotive. Family members, as well as us, had used their services years ago when Gordon was still owner and found them to be excellent, so we went back. Denzel, the new owner of six months, has kept up the good name of this business, and the service was exceptional. We appreciated his friendliness, and we found him to be as honest and transparent as is his policy. Our vehicle was fixed and ready to go faster than estimated, which was a terrific bonus for us. Best Choice is now our go-to automotive repair business. The labour charge is on par with a good automotive service shop. You can likely you can find some cheaper places, however, we've had the experience that you get what you pay for. We experienced that today. One of the issues we had with our vehicle was that we had taken it for an oil change at a chain-business (looking at you, "Mr.") because it was less expensive. We certainly got what we paid for: cheap price and bad service. Unknowing to us, the oil filter that was not put on properly, and over a bit of time a litre of oil leaked out as we were driving around. We can't even imagine the cost if all the oil had had all been lost. We appreciate that inexperienced people learn to change oil and may make mistakes while learning at chain-businesses, but we cannot afford to have their inexperience cause us issues with our car. From now on we will go to Best Choice to have our oil changes done by a trained and qualified automotive service technician. It's likely going to cost more than a chain-business would charge, but to prevent what would have been 1000s of dollars in damage makes it a smart move in our opinion. Car repairs can be costly, and we admittedly have a small income, but better to spend a little more to take care of our car and give up something else from our tight budget than not to have a working vehicle. Also, on the humourous side, Denzel was completely non-judgemental when he repaired the mistake we made and explained what we did wrong on a car repair we did ourselves. I was referred to this shop by a friend 6 years ago and have always had great experiences. Transparent billing. Fair pricing. Staff is so friendly and helpful. Would recommend to anyone, especially any ladies who feel they get 'talked down to' when going for car service elsewhere- you won't get any of that bologna here - which is the cherry on top for me. Took our car for an oil change and inspection. They reviewed the information from the inspection and went through it very detailed for us. We needed a light bulb replaced and they asked us before doing any work. Not the cleanest shop front but the service was fantastic. read more

This is by far the worst experience I've ever had with auto mechanics. In fact, I can't recall a single negative experience with any of the similar business's we've associated with in the past. (Experience in three provinces btw). I was in the middle of finding a new place for my car to be taken care of in Edmonton. When I chose this family owned business from a long list of search results on google, I was quite confident that I might not have to look any further. I really wanted it to work out the way I expected according to my previous experience in other provinces. Well, it didn't happen. It seems that these guys used to be good, but it is a thing of the past. What they are really good at is signing invoices. It took them hours to get the new tires for my car and they spent another 2+ hours for the "team of two guys" to mount them. Laughable. The job is usually finished by one guy at the slowest pace being one hour. On top of that, despite their REPEATED reassurance that the new tires will be no older than 2016 (slick dude David, the receptionist), the "new" tires that they ALREADY installed were almost 2 y.o.! Again, I learned this fact AFTER the tires were already installed. If they didn't lie, I would shop somewhere else (www.1010tires.com/ emailed me that the same exact tires made in early 2017 were available). I thought that this would be the end to their "creativity"... boy was I wrong! When I asked if the balancing of tires was needed after the installation, they said - "oh NO". It almost did not surprise me when I found out that they did quite a sh*tty job with tire balancing 20 minutes later while I was driving on the highway... I would never trust these guys with tuning or even cleaning my bicycle, let alone my car: you simply don't know what to expect. I will try my luck and bring my business to more trustworthy mechanics. I used to use these guys for all my repair needs, however over the last few years I've started to question their honesty. the last 3 times I've gotten quotes from them for work I've taken it to a dealership, and each time the dealership quote was significantly LOWER by as much as $300! After that I no longer take my vehicle there for repairs. read more

I was able to get my truck into the shop, diagnosed & fixed all in the same day! I thought the billing was very reasonable and I am satisfied with the work they did on my vehicle. I appreciated the breakdown of what the essential items to fix were vs. the stuff that could wait before they went ahead with the work. They always give us a list of what is serious to fix now & what can wait a year with quotes. I appreciate their honesty as it relates to repairs versus the value of your vehicle. I brought my car here just over a week ago after a TERRIBLE experience with Southtown Chrysler. My car was making a loud obnoxious noise and when I brought it to Southtown Chrysler they gave me an estimate of over $9000 to fix everything that was wrong with my Jeep ($4000 estimate just to fix the "urgent" stuff). I didn't feel comfortable at all with their mechanic so I called Best Choice Automotive in tears asking them if they could help. Every person I dealt with on the phone and in person were friendly, helpful and empathetic. Gord took the time to explain to me exactly what was wrong with my vehicle and gave me a game plan of how to fix it. He triaged what needed to be fixed right away and what could wait to be fixed a little while longer. From my first phone call to their shop I got the impression that these were people who could be trusted and wanted to help. My wife and I have been going to Best Choice for a few years now. AMA recommended them, and they've been great! They really made my wife feel comfortable by explaining anything she asked. I am absolutely disgusted the way this dealership handled my purchase by sneaking in fees that were NOT agreed to. I have text messages rom the salesman agreeing on a price and when it came to sitting with financing they drug me through the mud and even after telling him more than once he was wasting his time and mine trying to "upsell" me on things I told him from the start I wasn't interested in as did my spouse. I had a bad feeling and should have walked out. They knew I was from out of town and took soo long that I just wanted out of there and signed the bill of sale. I contacted them immediately when I noticed an extra $619.00. They pretty much just laughed at me. The saddest part is I have the message from the salesman admitting they were wrong and weren't willing to do anything about it. I will be sure to tell anyone and everyone looking for a vehicle to not shop there. They give the entire car industry a bad name. read more
