STAY AWAY FROM THEM They are either grossly incompetent and do not know the first thing about repairs or they are complete crooks, perhaps a little of both. Let me tell you my story. A couple of months ago my 2005 Jaguar "S" Type encountered a power drain and the battery would die overnight. I tried to get it into Jaguar Edmonton but they were booked solid for a couple of weeks. I saw on Karmac's building that they advertised they workd on Jaguars so I took it to them the next day ( maybe the fact that I could get them to look at it so quick should have been a tip off to their incompetence) They kept my car for 8 days and during this time did nothing to it, they said they could not find the power drain and charged me almost $1,000.00 for keeping my car over a week and doing NOTHING. They even admitted that there were many days when they did not have time to work on the vehicle. Last week I took the car into the Jaguar dealership and surprise, surprise they found the problem and fixed it in 2 hours at a price almost half of what Karmac charged for doing NOTHING. Denzel, the new owner of six months, has kept up the good name of this business, and the service was exceptional. We appreciated his friendliness, and we found him to be as honest and transparent as is his policy. Our vehicle was fixed and ready to go faster than estimated, which was a terrific bonus for us. Best Choice is now our go-to automotive repair business. The labour charge is on par with a good automotive service shop. You can likely you can find some cheaper places, however, we've had the experience that you get what you pay for. We experienced that today. One of the issues we had with our vehicle was that we had taken it for an oil change at a chain-business (looking at you, "Mr.") because it was less expensive. We certainly got what we paid for: cheap price and bad service. Unknowing to us, the oil filter that was not put on properly, and over a bit of time a litre of oil leaked out as we were driving around. We can't even imagine the cost if all the oil had had all been lost. We appreciate that inexperienced people learn to change oil and may make mistakes while learning at chain-businesses, but we cannot afford to have their inexperience cause us issues with our car. From now on we will go to Best Choice to have our oil changes done by a trained and qualified automotive service technician. It's likely going to cost more than a chain-business would charge, but to prevent what would have been 1000s of dollars in damage makes it a smart move in our opinion. Car repairs can be costly, and we admittedly have a small income, but better to spend a little more to take care of our car and give up something else from our tight budget than not to have a working vehicle. Also, on the humourous side, Denzel was completely non-judgemental when he repaired the mistake we made and explained what we did wrong on a car repair we did ourselves. After I finally got it back I noticed it was leaking oil , which it had not done prior to being at Dot's. They said it had nothing to do with the transmission replacement and they would not fix the leak. I took it to my regular mechanic to check everything else out. They completely cleaned the engine and replaced everything that it could possibly be leaking from and it still leaks from the transmission. Dot's still will not acknowlege that the leak is from inside the transmission, that cost me $7000. They also had 3 different receptionist in the 6 weeks that I had to deal with them. I do not recommend Dot's.

Safety inspection:…read more Safety inspection: We took our used vehicle for an insurance inspection. The fee was reasonable to pay for finding them online. We knew we needed to do some work and it was expected buying an older vehicle. We do need it to be up to standard to feel safe and reliable. We got the report and over-priced estimate but we just assumed today rates are very expensive repairs to vehicles. We took the report at face value and paid a fee and we were not willing to put out 4000 for repairs of a 2009 Lancer. We then took it home and ordered parts and did repairs ourselves on weekends and evenings. We used the report given to make all the safety requirements listed that needed to be DONE according to the in inspection report Auto Imports provided. We then took the vehicle back to them after we did all the required replacements listed on their report and paid for a wheel alignment as well as it was also required on our list as another fee for safety inspection. We then were told a whole NEW list of repairs again pricing well over 3000. The repairs listed were NOT on the original repost. They came up with a Whole new list of repairs to be done. This is not a good way to do business. The same mechanic did both reports... I ask how it is possible and how it is fair to the average working person. We needed a smaller vehicle cheaper on gas for commuting to and from work. I do not understand this type of Shady business practice. No matter what you say... in defence it is never going to explain this type of business practises. You give a person a report of repairs .. a person using this list like a checklist to do repairs only to then make a NEW list of repairs. Either you need a new mechanic or like I say Shady business. Trying to take advantage of people in today's economy is horrible.
