The manual said I should get transmission fluid, brake fluid changed, a tune-up, etc. Revolution Motors was recommended to me. The receptionist was efficient, explained the process and told me that when they finished the inspection of the car they would call and let me know the cost, and get approval for the work. They gave me a car to use while mine was in the shop. Long-story short my Forester is in great shape, and they told me that I didn't need to do the scheduled maintenance because everything was great (it is a very low mileage vehicle). Only charged me for the oil change - and gave me a great price. They have definitely won a customer for the future. So glad that the folks on Reddit suggested them. I'll be back as needed.

After I finally got it back I noticed it was leaking oil , which it had not done prior to being at Dot's. They said it had nothing to do with the transmission replacement and they would not fix the leak. I took it to my regular mechanic to check everything else out. They completely cleaned the engine and replaced everything that it could possibly be leaking from and it still leaks from the transmission. Dot's still will not acknowlege that the leak is from inside the transmission, that cost me $7000. They also had 3 different receptionist in the 6 weeks that I had to deal with them. I do not recommend Dot's.

Updating my review…read more Still coming to Chase and his team at Gate Avenue Service - I think we've brought 4 vehicles here now over 10 years. First and most importantly, Chase and his team are honest and hard working. They are extremely busy but always make time to diagnose and give second opinions. They have saved me money and given me solid advice multiple times when dealerships were leaving me astray. Most recently Chase and his team helped me to advocate (aka fight) Hyundai to get a replacement on my engine. Chase provided me all the documentation that Hyundai required not once, but twice, and in paper and in e-mail after Hyundai "misplaced" it. Chase did both of these requests same day. Chase has seen me at my worst (in tears) completely overwhelmed with car stress (and I don't speak car) and also completely flustered trying to explain what felt off with my vehicle when I seriously was not describing it well. The team at Gate is always courteous and treat me and all the customers I have ever seen with respect. The only limitation or downside with Gate is that they are really busy - and for good reason! So you may have to wait a bit for an appointment but they will always treat you right! PS They offer a program to store your tires for you! I always buy my tires and extra rims from them and they store them for me in off seasons. PSS they are located right behind Petro Canada on St. Albert Trail

You can almost guarantee you'll have to go back a second time cause either a)the problem wasn't fixed or B) something else just happened to fail as soon as you drive away. Prices have almost tripled in the last 6 months, and sometimes I've seen people waiting 15 minutes before someone even greets them. They order wrong parts or forget to order them complete then lie when questioned about the ETA, passing the blame off. But there's never a shortage of alcohol and cigarettes in the break room, or random alcoholics spouting racist jokes off. One journeyman technician on site out of the 3 that pull wrenches.
