Have been a customer of Best Cleaners for 8 months. Despite nearly every visit of dealing with team members who could care less whether or not I brought my business, the location of bringing in a dozen work shirts every few weeks was too good. Yesterday when picking up my dry cleaning I was initially told that my items totaled over $120 (for 11-12 items, mostly shirts), despite me presenting a 40% off coupon. I left the items and asked for a supervisor to call me - something had to be off. Today I never received the courtesy of such a phone call. Driving home from work it hit me that I could no longer delay the pick up and needed to grab my dry cleaning as a few items I included this week were to be used for family pictures being taken tomorrow. I arrived in and was told that Lindsey left the instructions that I had already used my 40% coupon. I wish I knew who did because it wasn't me! I purposefully waited to use this coupon until it was worth my while. Considering most weeks when I would pick up my dozen shirts the total is usually $55 without much of a discount, to get hit with a bill now of over $90 when I presented a 40% coupon that was chosen not to be honored is unacceptable. Take advantage of senior citizens. My 86 YO MIL brought in CLEAN table clothes for pressing, only. When she returned to pick them, Best Cleaners charged her almost $100. When she balked, Best Cleaners told her in addition to pressing, they added Dry Cleaned as well and refused to honor the pressing price. They offered a 15% discount for services she did not want. I do NOT recommend. Never had a horrible experience with a dry cleaner. Spent over $100 to receive my shirts back with wrinkles, dimples in the collar, and stains. Some of which I didn't even mention because I received the run around over a spot on my shirt that wasn't there before and it took them two weeks to fix, and no return calls. If you have a problem they will ignore it in hopes in goes away, or assume your the problem. Go somewhere else. read more

Don't go here. They shrank my suit and denied any responsibility in doing so. My attempts to contact management has been sandbagged repeatedly for a week and were it not me calling back repeatedly and asking for the corporate office, it's likely I would still be waiting. I literally never use the dry cleaners but I recently had found my Coach puffer jacket with a real fur hood it's beige/champagne colored so you see after a season or two it needs to get cleaned and I needed buttons (that I had with me for the jacket). Unfortunately without the fur being not needing cleaning the risk of it being ruined would be very high Jennifer the manager who is AWESOME btw had given me some other options besides them. I found that honorable since I had three coach bags in my car I've been wanting to get dry cleaned I decided to have her price check those and hopefully be able to give them some of my business. The purses def had seen some better days but Jennifer reassured me that the dry cleaning will get them a lot cleaner. The price had come out to 43$ per bag I believe but I wasn't looking to spend more than 100$ so Jennifer worked her magic bc she had a coupon for me and it ended up coming out to maybe 93 and change for three 150-200 purses to get a revamp I'll take it anyday!! Especially with their customer service is amazing!!! I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. Absolutely the worst experience I've ever had. I brought in four brand new pieces of clothing just to have them pressed. Mind you these clothes were NOT very wrinkled. I just wanted them freshened up because I was going to a wedding on the weekend. The prices were absolutely exorbitant. It was insulting to be charged so much. The men's dress shirt that I brought in still had wrinkles in it and wasn't pressed correctly. I explained my disgust at being charged such an outrageous amount of money and they wouldn't do a thing about it except say that if I didn't agree they would keep my clothes. The woman behind the counter even explained that they were extremely pricey. That is an understatement. My advice is to go someplace else. Where they'll do a better job and it's cheaper. Good service. But overpriced. I dropped 3 new suits just be be pressed. 1 sport jacket and 1 shirt to be cleaned. And 1 new shirt to be pressed only. And it was $75. I have no problem with the quality of the work or treatment. But just didn't get a good value. I'm not a regular customer here but was in a pinch. So ask for a price before over paying. read more

This used to be my go-to place but as of recently I feel that their customer service has gone down the hill. I drop off my husbands shirts every week and I've been noticing that some of them come back and still have stains on them. Also, they lost 2 of the shirts but charged me for them... Luckily, when I was there I saw them hanging on a random rack ( a lost rack I guess) and pointed out that they were mine. I didn't even receive an apology. Another time, they forgot to give me my express bag so I had to drive down again just to pick that up - again, no apology. It's understandable that you have high school kids running the place and it's nice that they can find these jobs - but you have to train them better. They are unmotivated and have no clue about proper customer service. read more

I'm only giving this 2 stars because I guess the clothing has at least been cleaned. I do not get a lot of dry cleaning done, just some basics for work; dress shirts and dress pants. I would say 9 times out of 10, there are small groups of wrinkles left on the shirts or hard creases/folds left somewhere on the pants. I kept going back because the coupons they issue in the mail are good and the location is convenient. My last visit, I went to pick up a simple basic white dress shirt I was wearing to a wedding, and once again it had 3 different areas of wrinkles. They offered to redo but would take another 24 hours before I could pick back up. Unfortunately, enough was finally enough, and I am sick of paying money for results that I consistently had to go home and attempt to fix on my own. The name best cleaners is irrelevant, in the that they barely do their best. They never pre-check your dry-cleaning for stains, nor pre-treat them. Even when pointed out to the clerks who take your clothes. No one takes responsibility, doesn't matter who takes your clothes, no pre-check or pre-treatment even if you point it out. They will redo them, but again, this is a waste of your time, and it happens every time, which gets old. I've been a customer for over 2 years. Best Cleaners, barely. read more

The most expensive dry cleaning I've seen in the area. I never write reviews but I cannot possibly recommend this place less. Their prices are way too high. If its a convenience thing and you only have a shirt or two dry cleaned once in a while and this is the closest place to you then I guess it's worth it. If you have a lot of clothes that have to be dry cleaned regularly you could save yourself a ton of money bringing them elsewhere. read more

I used this cleaner for the first time after my current cleaner closed. They give you a bag to bring in your dirty laundry. After so many uses, you get a major discount. Laundry in by 11:00am is out by 4:00 the same day!! I received an email at 2:00 that my laundry was ready. They recycle hangars ( you get a credit for returning them) recycle the plastic covering, that I love. They use "green" chemicals. I was told Best was "the best" so I drove all the way from New Haven to test them out with some basic shirts, to be laundered and returned in a box. At pick up, I paid without looking at the shirts in the bag (always check. your items before paying) and then looked in before leaving the counter. The people folding them hadn't used a box - not great but usually workable - but because the bag was too small for the shirts they had jammed them in so that the collars were effectively bent up on all three of them, rendering the idea of a pressed shirt that could be put on and look fresh impossible. I showed the two women on duty (Lib and an elderly woman) and asked for my money back as the shirts effectively do not look like they have been properly pressed. They said they could not do any refunds and that I would have to come back the next day to speak to Jen the manager. I haven't called Jen but, frankly, the lack of care and disinterest in customer service suggests that she also won't care. I'll update if she does the right thing and credits my money back but - please - think carefully about using this vendor and, if you do/must, please check your items before payment. So far, Best was so far opposite of the best in my instance - a terrible experience where a simple response by staff could have made all the difference but instead they chose not to respond. (And I picked up in a busy time of the day - i.e. after work, 4PM, so you would think that Best would find staff that actually had some customer service interest for busy time periods). ********* Update: Jen P. (manager) called me the next day to resolve the issue. She offered to credit the charge back and/or re-do the shirts. This was all I really needed and, if the team yesterday had offered, the situation would have been handled without issue. I went to Best Cleaners because I purchased a Groupon. Even with the groupon, it was really expensive. Also, they lost my clothes, so I had to come back a second time. On a positive note, the customer service is really excellent. They gave me an additional discount for my trouble, and were very attentive. I probably won't be going back because of the prices (and because the locations aren't that close to me), but it is very convenient -- same day service if you drop off before 11, a bag with your name you take home so you don't have to wait when you drop off. also, they mail coupons that make it a much better deal. read more

HIGHLY recommend Best Cleaners. I just want to thank Jennifer (The Manager) for getting a stain out of my dress the day before I was to fly down to Clearwater Florida for my Son's wedding. I went to Best Cleaners (recommended by a friend) and was greeted by a very friendly female employee. I told the young girl at the desk that somehow I managed to get a few spots on my dress (possibly my lipstick). I was clearly panicking, worrying and in tears. The young lady went to get the manager, Jennifer. I told Jennifer I had no time to leave it there because I had to fly out to Florida the next morning at 6 AM and asked her if there was anything she could do to help. She helped me MORE than I could ever have imagined. SHE made my DAY!! She took my dress in back, spot cleaned it and the stains were GONE! I went to pay her for her wonderful service and she REFUSED to take payment. Jennifer told me to relax and enjoy my Son's wedding. I don't know what I would have done without her help. Although very convenient I was disgusted by the sexism I experienced today. I was waiting in line to pick somethings up, the woman at the front was clearly very busy and there was someone in the back pressing shirts. It's my turn, she asks my phone number and then goes to get the dry cleaning for the care in the drive through. Fine. All of a sudden the woman who had been pressing shirts runs up front to help the man behind me in line, who had entered after me. He ended up getting his clothes before me. We moved to the Middletown area over 30 years ago and have always been loyal customers. When Best Cleaners opened their North Haven store it was only natural that I drop my dry cleaning off there as I commute to/from Fairfield county each day. A few years ago I started getting my button down shirts returned with missing buttons and rips in the fabric on a regular basis. They also were putting double creases in my suits pants. When I brought it to the attention of the manager, she indicated that the workers have to unbutton the collars in order to press the shirts. I asked her how the buttons were getting ripped out of the shirts then. She didn't know, apologized and said they would repair the shirts. I decided to use another cleaner which lasted about 9 months. I had to go out of my way and and it just wasn't convenient. I decided to return to Best N.Haven and the ripped shirts happened now and then, however they promptly repaired the shirts. About 6 months ago, the same thing started happening again. I suspected that it was due to the teenage workers they hire. The number of shirts that were returned ripped, significantly increased, and with such large gaping holes in the collar button area that they couldn't be fixed. I again complained but it only got worse. Over 8 of my Izod button down shirts were so badly ripped that they bunched up around the collar when I wore them. I decided to change cleaners but brought back one last shirt for repair. I found out that Cindy was no longer the manager as the new manager introduced herself. When I told her my history of several shirts being ripped beyond repair, I received a confirmation of my suspicions that the inexperienced teenage workers might have something to do with it. She told me that they hire these kids and she has told them repeatedly, but "everything goes in one ear and out the other". I'm thinking to myself "no shit", I've got about a dozen ruined shirts. I also asked her if I was the only one this happens to. Her reply was "oh no, this happens all the time". That was it for me! They know this and still hire teenagers to do the work. They are one of the most expensive dry cleaners in the area and they can't hire adults? I walked out and headed to my car saying aloud, adios, you'll never see me step foot in any of your stores again. Best Cleaners just lost a 30 year customer. Go to Candid Cleaners a few doors down. It's family owned and they are great with top notch customer service. PS. Not once did they ever offer to pay me for the damaged shirts, which range between $35-$50. Also the gentleman that does their repairs and alterations is mediocre and expensive. I needed a plastic zipper replaced in a sleeveless winter vest and he wanted to charge me $48. It only cost $50. I dropped my clothes of 1/19/16 and when I picked up my order 1/20/16, I was missing a sweater. I told the person at the drive through that I was missing a sweater and she told me I had to call the office the following Friday 1/22/16 to speak with the Manager who was scheduled to be in again on that day. That Friday Morning, I called and spoke with Cindy. I explained what happened and she told me that she would have to check the computer for all of the orders that came in that day to see if there was a sweater added to anyone's order. She told me that she would call me back by the end of the day. I never heard back from Cindy, so on my way home, I stopped in to the store to see if she was available, she was not in and had left for the day. The young lady that was working remembered who I was because she was the one that gave me my clothes on the 20th. I told her that Cindy said she would call me back and never did, she told me that I would have to call her the next day, she told me that Cindy had not left a note saying anything about my lost item. I asked her if she could contact her and she did. While I was there she spoke with her on the phone and told me that Cindy said she would call me the next day, that she would have to check the orders in the computer that she was simply too busy to do it and that she would call me. On Saturday 1/23, she left me a message at 12 noon saying that she checked the computer and the item was not added to any other orders and then said that there was nothing much she could do except maybe check each order that came in on that day. I called the store at 12:06 pm right after I heard the message and she was gone for the day. I was told I had to call her again on Monday. This is the worst customer service I have ever encountered, I can't believe she would dismiss me this way and purposely call me at the end of her shift knowing I would not be able to contact her. I have never heard from her or anyone at the North Haven store again with regards to whether or not they have found my sweater. I will never go there again, Don't waste your time, go to Husky Cleaners, the owner is always there and is friendly, professional and they do a wonderful job with cleaning. I have had 3 items altered there, the owner's wife does the alterations, she does a fantastic job and very affordable! read more
