5/5 Stars!!! I…read morestopped in today expecting a quick trip to pick up two sandwiches, mortadella, and coppa. Having welcomed a newborn just a week ago, my wife and I have been entirely too sleep-deprived and busy to cook. What started as a simple errand ended up being one of the most heartwarming experiences we've had in a long time. When I ordered, Bella at the deli register kindly let me know there would be about a 20-minute wait due to call-in orders, offering me water and fresh bread while I waited. Since my wife and week-old baby were waiting in the air-conditioned car, I brought them inside to sit with me. Shortly after we sat down, a family dining nearby noticed our baby and struck up a warm conversation. A moment later, one of the women from the family came over to congratulate us and offered us some fresh pastries. She returned to our table with two pistachio-filled croissants and two espressos--a gesture that, given our level of sleep deprivation, couldn't have been more appreciated! I later learned from Bella that this incredibly kind woman was Valeria, a member of the Giuseppe family who owns the restaurant. As for the food itself, we got the Gloria sandwich on focaccia. It is honestly one of the best sandwiches we've ever had--so good that this was actually our second time ordering it in three days! I cannot thank Valeria, Bella, and the Giuseppe family enough for their exceptional hospitality and generosity. We left feeling truly cared for and look forward to being regular customers for years to come.

A friend recommended Ciao in Vista, so my fiancé and I decided to stop by for a Wednesday night…read morebirthday dinner. It's tucked into a quiet shopping center with easy parking and looks decent from the outside, but the inside was packed and loud enough that we could barely hear each other. The service felt completely indifferent from the start. I had made a reservation and noted that it was for a birthday, but the host didn't acknowledge either. Instead, we got an uninspired, "How many? Two? Follow me." That lack of attention continued throughout the meal. The bar was out of ingredients for my cocktail, so I ended up with an overpriced $14 glass of Zin. Worse, no one mentioned any shortages before we had time to look over the menu. After deciding what to order, my fiancé was told they were completely out of veal--even though veal is the base for around few different entrées. Appetizer: The beef carpaccio didn't match the menu description. When I pointed it out, the server simply brought some cheese to the table. It was just okay, but ultimately the best savory part of the meal. Both entrées were major disappointments. My shrimp scampi had rubbery, overcooked shrimp with okay garlic pasta that I could have made better at home. My fiancé's replacement chicken dish was heavily oversalted, with some pasta and vegetables on the side. The only bright spot was dessert. We grabbed a couple of treats from the display on our way out, and the mini cannoli and lemon gelato cheesecake were both great. Skip the homemade lemon cheesecake, though--it tasted more like barely sweetened yogurt. Overall, between sub-par , missing menu staples, and disappointing entrées, this was not the birthday dinner we were hoping for. Unfortunately, we won't be back.

We thought we'd try Little Cakes Kitchen, so we ordered the half-dozen box of assorted cupcakes. They were delivered through DoorDash. We knew we were not able to pick our flavors by ordering this way, but figured Little Cakes would send a representative sample, which I assume they did. I'm not sure which flavors were in our box because they weren't labeled. I wanted to know what we were eating, but I had to dig through many past reviews to identify most of them. The 6 flavors received in the 1/2-dozen box were: * Vanilla * Chocolate * Almond Champagne * German Chocolate * Something Marshmallow-Topped * Something Chocolate--Topped with Thin Vanilla Icing and Vanilla Buttercream All the cupcakes were of average size and were decorated nicely enough. Albeit the cake part on all the cakes were a bit dry. It was difficult to discern a specific flavor on a few, so I've come to the conclusion that garnishing must be their gift. Most of the 'vanilla' flavors, were indistinguishable in flavor from one another, except for the Almond Champagne, which had a cloying almond paste filling, and too much filling to cake ratio. Of particular concern was that the frosting on all seemed to be off in ratios of butter to shortening. I suspect there was an over abundance of shortening in all the cupcakes, which to me, is not palatable, nor is it delicious or anything resembling what a good cupcake should be. They miss the mark in my opinion. Due to the high prices and the fact that the frosting on all the cupcakes was cloying and poorly prepared with what I suspect was too much shortening, and not enough icing sugar, I would likely not buy cupcakes from Little Cakes Kitchen again.

I was so excited they had a Jack Skellington themed cupcake (it was a tasty chocolate cupcake). I really enjoyed the almond cupcake I got. My mom loves chocolate cupcakes with white frosting and the one I picked up for her did not disappoint. They were all tasty and super moist. My Mom also really like the brownies, especially since they had walnuts (her favorite). Baked goods were reasonably priced and worth every penny. Love how the store is laid out and how the cupcakes are displayed and labeled. The store is nice, bright, and open. The staff is very personable, helpful, and overall amazing. I will for sure be stopping when I am in the area again.

Service was super friendly and helpful. Food was fantastic, especially the chili. Wow, the chili. Burgers were legit. Double burger was way huge. Chili fries were amazing. Dog melt was surprisingly good. Onion rings and fries were on point. Ranch was a little too funny for me. And to be able to top off the meal with Thrifty's ice cream?! We'll be back. Get a big bowl of chili. Large dining area, clean, nicely decorated. Parking wasn't an issue for us.

This is a long overdue review for Water Shack. I stumbled upon this place a few years ago when I…read morewas craving a no frills mom & pop style burger. To my surprise Water Shack's burgers were delicious and satisfying that I find myself coming back here ever so often. Their burgers aren't the heavy, greasy/high fat patties you would get from other places. However, their 1/4 lb patties are their smallest patties and heft makes for that ideal bun to burger ratio. Did I need to order double patties on most of my burger orders? Probably not. Their patties are on the leaner side but they aren't dry; and the fixings from any burger you choose will satisfy that meaty burger fix you're looking for. The Chicken Patty Melt is also a very tasty item. Very cheesy, buttery and crispy toasted bread with chicken breast. Their fries and onion rings also come air-fried so this place focuses more on the healthier comfort food options that wont leave you feeling heavy and drowsy. This place is also doubled as a purified water dispensary and also serves baked goods and ice cream. Love this type of no-frills, unassuming place with very friendly staff and serves up some delicious food!
