Pecan Pie Croissant with Bourbon Whipped Cream
    Brenda L.

The good: I tried a coffee, pecan pie croissant with bourbon whipped cream, a milk and cookies croissant muffin (a.k.a. cruffin), and a croissant donut (a.k.a. cronut). I liked the flavor options and the display case. The bourbon whipped cream was light and tasty. I do think croissant versions of everything are great because you cannot argue with pastry layers and more butter. The bad: The pastries tasted a day old. It wasn't as flaky or fresh. I did come on a Monday morning. It was super cold inside. The donut was greasy and a bit heavier than I expected. There is no indoor seating. The outdoor seating area is mixed with the next door business and a lot of the lawn chairs were ripped or about to rip. I think the croissant muffin had too much frosting. The interesting: They sell gift cards online and offer catering packages.

Yum! Finally made it back after an event here when they first open. Not much of a pastry person but my friend was in town and I wanted to impress her. I got 6 pastries, all around $6-7 each. I got a Nutella cruffin, lemon cruffin, glazed cronut, almond croissant, cinnamon roll and a bread pudding. We tried every thing except the bread pudding, we froze it for later. But the best was the lemon curd cruffin. A very good tartness. The Nutella one was super rich. Their croissant was delicious. Nice and crunchy, pretty big too. And if you love cinnamon rolls, theirs is so delicious. Very good with your coffee. Pastries were all massive, and well worth the price! Everything was there when I came in the morning.

    - plaza parking, plenty of pastries available at 11am on a Saturday! Grab and go spot with no seating inside - each looked so delicious and there was so much variety - we chose the sausage roll (heated up for us) and snickers cruffin with the help of the staff - the sausage roll was yummy but standard so I wouldn't get it again, that mustard it came with was a great addition though! - loved the cruffin! It's filled with a whipped peanut butter and caramel sauce and has a chocolate shell to provide some crunch

I would go out of my way, just to come to this bakery. If you love baked goods like I do, you gotta stop by! Not only is the name clever and cute, their pastries are not just IG picture good, they taste really good! It's a clean shop that is well organized. Everyone is super nice and helpful. My favorite was the Strawberry Shortcake Croissant. The crème was light and not too sweet. The strawberries were sweet with a little tanginess. The croissant was crispy on top and soft on the middle. I ate it so fast I didn't share lol Their Ham and Swiss Croissant was really good too! They don't skip out on the ham so it had a good ratio of all the ingredients together. I also got the cinnamon bun. I heated it up with a little and had coffee with it. It had a little too much frosting on top but I think it's better to have too much vs not enough. It was soft and gooey inside . It wasn't too sweet which I like. The brownie was really good and chocolately. I warmed it up and slapped some vanilla ice cream and mini chocolate chips on top. Chocolate cookie - I think this was a pass for me. I love chocolate chip cookies but this one didn't really wow me. They're known for their Crufins but I didn't have room to try that this time. I'll have to come back to try it out

Great bakery. Staff here are always friendly. It's a cute little bakery. I love their Croissant Breakfast Sandwich. They also have delicious Chocolate Croissants and Chocolate Chip Cookies. It's located in a plaza, and I always have an easy time finding parking here. I'll be back again and again.

Glutenous Maximus is HANDS DOWN one of the MUST-experience pastry shops in Southern California! We first discovered their Dirty Chai Cruffin at a Seven Seas Coffee shop and were instantly hooked! So when we found out they had an actual shop that we could make sure to hit on the drive back up north stopping by became a non-negotiable... and WOW was it worth it! From the moment we walked in, the service was just as impressive as the pastries! Kymie helped guide us and make suggestion while being incredibly patient as I stood there debating what to get, because there was sooooo many options! Sweet to savory they had it! As for the pastries--every single one was next-level! Our highlights were: -Dirty Chai Cruffin - Massive (like size of a small childs head), flaky, fluffy, perfectly spiced, and filled with airy chai-coffee mousse. -Pecan Pie Croissant w/ Bourbon Maple Whipped Cream - Tastes like the best pecan pie you've ever had... wrapped in buttery layers. Unreal. -Jalapeño Ham & Cheddar Croissant - Jalapeño flavor baked right into the dough, loaded with ham and packed with cheesy, savory goodness. a MUST especially if you like jalapeno! -Turkey, Havarti & Pesto Croissant - Surprisingly there was so much meat (the most we've ever seen in a pastry, like the ham one) and flavor; one of the BEST we've ever had! Parking is plentiful, and the shop itself is super cute inside. There isn't much seating, so it's more of a grab-and-go spot--which worked out perfectly because we took our pastries on the road and devoured them at a park! If you're anywhere near Vista (or not), this bakery is WORTH the drive and the calories. If you want to eat them more frequently and you aren't super close, you can still get their pastries at all Seven Seas Roasting Coffee locations, which is such a gift to humanity (or a curse because you might spend your entire paycheck regularly on their delectable goodies). Seriously though RUN, don't walk! They are a MUST and some of the BEST cruffins we've had in the nation!

Glutenus Maximus Bakehouse with it's humorous name started off with liege waffles at Farmer's Markets, but now has expanded to a bakery with so many unique and great tasting baked goods. I ordered several to try. Lemon curd cruffin ($7.50) - This was shaped like a muffin but was crispy and flakey like a croissant. I really enjoyed the tart and sweetness of the lemon curd, it was so plentiful and I was impressed with the quantity on the inside. Cardamon vanilla morning bun ($6) - This was another popular item here with wonderful cardamon and vanilla flavors. Macadamia white chocolate cookie ($5) - Packed with plenty of macadamia nuts and white chocolate chip chunks this cookie was thick, chewy, gooey and so good! Definitely one of the better cookies that I have tried. Overall I was impressed with the baked goods here. While there is no seating inside, there are some tables to sit at outside.

I'm surprised that this place was dead when we arrived because everything we got was amazingly delicious! We chose the chocolate chip cookie, tiramisu cruffin, and peanut butter-chocolate cruffin. Everyone loved their choices and wish we lived closer but if we are in the area again, we'll be stopping by. And of course, you cannot beat this bakery's name!

I found this Bakery through Blue Mug in Escondido who also sells their baked goods and loved the chocolate cronut. I finally got the chance to come into the bakery and the options are amazing! I love that you can easily see all the options available to pick from.

Picked up some sweets today for the team. Everything was so delicious and was a nice pick-me-up. The shop is small and an easy walk in, walk out place. Will definitely be back to try more baked goodies from here. Overall rating: Food: 10/10 Service: 10/10 Restaurant Vibes: 10/10 Price to Overall Dining (POD): 10/10

S T O O P I D . I S . A S . S T O O P I D . D O E S So... there's this new bakery in town called Glutenus Maximus. Yep. Latin. Because apparently if you say it in 'Merican: "Big-Azz Dough-balls"...it doesn't sound artisanal enough. You know what I think of when I hear Latin? I think, "It's gonna cost more." Anything in Latin costs more. Lawyers know this. Doctors know this. Catholic priests who-do-it-for-the-money know this. Now the bakers know this too. I walk in, it smells amazing. Bread smell. You know that smell? Hits you right in your caveman brain. You can hear your Paleolithic DNA whispering, "Eat this, survive winter." I see the pastries. Not just classics like donuts and cookies and croissants. Now we have "cruffins". A croissant-muffin hybrid. And "cronuts". Croissant-donuts. I guess because it's more artsy (/lucrative) to go all Frankenstein in the kitchen now. I bought a $7.50 cruffin-- tall, flaky, filled with key-lime goodness. Delicious, sure, until you think maybe it's just a croissant that's been plumped. Like the Kardashian of pastries. Pretty to look at, but deep down... nothing. Except... it was freakin' amazing down to the last bite. And for the gluten-free people out there: there's gluten-free cookies and scones! At Glutenus Maximus! But why? Why would you come here? That's like going to Hooters for the celery sticks. If you don't want gluten, maybe try Glutenus Minimus in Portland. Or just stay home and nibble on your yoga mat. Pro tip: The name Glutenus Maximus is kinda stoopid. The Frakenstonian items seem kinda stoopid. The gluten-free section is really stoopid. And I'll be back tomorrow. Because I'm not Carpe Diem... I'm Carpe Crustem. Seize the bread, Paleolithics. Even if it's stoopid. Especially if it's stoopid. Stoopid delicious.

I found this place on Yelp when planning our trip to Carlsbad. We made a special trip to Vista jus to try this nearly five-star rated bakehouse and it did not disappoint! I would drive here again from LA! When you walk in the amazing sugar aroma consumes you - in a good way! It smells absolutely amazing in here. We were there for about 30 minutes even though there was no line because we had such a hard time deciding what to get. The Cronuts and Cruffins are perfectly chewy and flakey and the cookie was amazing! I will definitely come back every time I'm in the area.

Came for a quick sweet tooth stop. Located with ample parking. Purchased a couple of cookies, white chocolate macadamia and the chocolate chip. They are big. Kids enjoyed them but I found them huge. We all agreed on a 4.5 rating. Service was quick since we were the only ones in there. Would go back to try other things.
