OMG Becky! We like all their big buns and we cannot lie they are all pretty great! [[HIGHLIGHT]]When walking into the shop you are met with a beautiful case. Golden outside of all the pastries with some color here and there displaying additional flavors of blueberry, ube, lemon.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]..... freaking A man. I was overwhelmed and the lady in front was patient and helpful. I grabbed a sausage roll for myself. I grabbed a box of treats for my team. Which I did have a sampling of as well. Their chocolate chip cookie was so good! Has that chew we all like. The team had nothing but positive feedback as well. I cannot wait to come Back

Came on a Saturday noon, and it was not too busy. All the pastries were laid out for you to see and they all looked super yummy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The store is small and there's no seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The pastries are definitely on the higher-priced side and we weren't too hungry, so we opted for the strawberry croissant since it was the last one left. I was hoping to try their cinnamon roll, as it looked amazing and had a selection of flavors to pick from. The lady who helped us was friendly and packed the croissant for me, and we took it to go. The strawberry croissant had some vanilla cream along with strawberry slices in the center cut of the croissant. The cream was nice, light, and not overly sweet, which tasted great with the strawberry. The croissant was a little disappointing, as it wasn't flaky, very dense, and on the softer side. It still had a good buttery flavor but overall it was mid. As we continued eating, I ended up chewing on something plasticky, and I believe it might have been the front cut of a plastic piping bag. I'm glad it was a fairly small piece or else I probably would have swallowed it...It is disappointing that a big piece of plastic ended up in the cream where no one had caught it during the process of making it.

Ham and cheese croissant and strawberry and creams croissant. Both amazing! Highly recommend the strawberry one!

We need more places like this! First time stopping by GM's brick and mortar shop vs buying from them at the farmers market, and let me just say, this place is a gem - everything from the store itself to its people! Cinnamon roll - best Ive had out of all the ones I've had in CA and AZ. They do not cut corners and even use brown butter for their cinnamon sugar filling! Cruffins - fun to look at and fun to eat; can't go wrong with any of them! Cookies - white chocolate macadamia nut, chocolate chip, gluten-less chocolate cookies ... now these are cookies! If I had to bet, I'm pretty sure they weigh as much or even more than the famous NY Levain cookies. Strawberry and cream croissant - croissant stuffed with whipped cream and slices of fresh strawberrh; do yourself a favor and just try this! With so many goods to choose from, it may be easy to pass this one up, but don't! It'll give you those napoleon and cream puff vibes.

How have I not written a review yet? I think this is my favorite bakery for pastries. I was first introduced to it through a Yelp event otherwise I'm not sure I would have known about it and it deserves all the kudos. It's in a strip mall that has a few dining options so this makes it a perfect breakfast and lunchtime treat. They are only open until 2, I believe so make sure you go on the earlier side. I have had a croissant sandwich which was so good and many pastries since that event. My favorite and the one I keep coming back to is the lemon curd cruffin. A croissant muffin combination which is so crispy flakey and delicious. The staff is always nice and answers my questions. Parking is easy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There a few tables outside shared with the Mexican and Japanese restaurants next door.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Pecan Pie Croissant with Bourbon Whipped Cream

The good: I tried a coffee, pecan pie croissant with bourbon whipped cream, a milk and cookies croissant muffin (a.k.a. cruffin), and a croissant donut (a.k.a. cronut). I liked the flavor options and the display case. The bourbon whipped cream was light and tasty. I do think croissant versions of everything are great because you cannot argue with pastry layers and more butter. The bad: The pastries tasted a day old. It wasn't as flaky or fresh. I did come on a Monday morning. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was super cold inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The donut was greasy and a bit heavier than I expected. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is no indoor seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The outdoor seating area is mixed with the next door business and a lot of the lawn chairs were ripped or about to rip.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I think the croissant muffin had too much frosting. The interesting: They sell gift cards online and offer catering packages.

Yum! Finally made it back after an event here when they first open. Not much of a pastry person but my friend was in town and I wanted to impress her. I got 6 pastries, all around $6-7 each. I got a Nutella cruffin, lemon cruffin, glazed cronut, almond croissant, cinnamon roll and a bread pudding. We tried every thing except the bread pudding, we froze it for later. But the best was the lemon curd cruffin. A very good tartness. The Nutella one was super rich. Their croissant was delicious. Nice and crunchy, pretty big too. And if you love cinnamon rolls, theirs is so delicious. Very good with your coffee. Pastries were all massive, and well worth the price! Everything was there when I came in the morning.

    - plaza parking, plenty of pastries available at 11am on a Saturday! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Grab and go spot with no seating inside[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] - each looked so delicious and there was so much variety - we chose the sausage roll (heated up for us) and snickers cruffin with the help of the staff - the sausage roll was yummy but standard so I wouldn't get it again, that mustard it came with was a great addition though! - loved the cruffin! It's filled with a whipped peanut butter and caramel sauce and has a chocolate shell to provide some crunch

I would go out of my way, just to come to this bakery. If you love baked goods like I do, you gotta stop by! Not only is the name clever and cute, their pastries are not just IG picture good, they taste really good! [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a clean shop that is well organized.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Everyone is super nice and helpful. My favorite was the Strawberry Shortcake Croissant. The crème was light and not too sweet. The strawberries were sweet with a little tanginess. The croissant was crispy on top and soft on the middle. I ate it so fast I didn't share lol Their Ham and Swiss Croissant was really good too! They don't skip out on the ham so it had a good ratio of all the ingredients together. I also got the cinnamon bun. I heated it up with a little and had coffee with it. It had a little too much frosting on top but I think it's better to have too much vs not enough. It was soft and gooey inside . It wasn't too sweet which I like. The brownie was really good and chocolately. I warmed it up and slapped some vanilla ice cream and mini chocolate chips on top. Chocolate cookie - I think this was a pass for me. I love chocolate chip cookies but this one didn't really wow me. They're known for their Crufins but I didn't have room to try that this time. I'll have to come back to try it out

What's in this photo? Not blueberries!!!!!!

I decided to give Gluteus Maximus another shot today. My previous visit wasn't great, but everyone deserves a second chance. Unfortunately, Gluteus Maximus apparently used theirs up. Let's start with the blueberry muffin. Calling this a blueberry muffin feels legally adventurous. I counted roughly three blueberries in the entire thing. Three. I've seen more blueberries accidentally fall onto a countertop during cleanup. At this point, the muffin and the blueberries appear to have met briefly in passing and then gone their separate ways. If you're going to charge bakery prices for a blueberry muffin, there should be enough blueberries present that customers don't have to launch a search-and-rescue mission to find them. Next up was the butter croissant. Now, a croissant should be flaky. That's kind of the whole point. It should leave little buttery flakes everywhere. This one was so lacking in flakes that if it were my scalp, my dermatologist would be congratulating me. I squeezed it, broke it apart, took bites from different angles, and not a single glorious croissant flake made an appearance. It had all the excitement of eating a dinner roll that once heard about France. Then came the cronut. It wasn't terrible, but it was noticeably oily and tasted like it had been hanging out in the display case long enough to develop opinions about local politics. Fresh cronuts are magical. This one felt more like a historical reenactment of a fresh cronut. What really puzzles me is that the bakery didn't appear overwhelmed. There were plenty of bags and boxes waiting for customers picking up pre-orders, but very little walk-in traffic. So this wasn't a case of a bakery getting crushed by demand and struggling to keep up. This was apparently the product they wanted me to experience. The staff was pleasant. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The bakery looks nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The concept is great. But when your blueberry muffin contains fewer blueberries than a blueberry Pop-Tart, your croissant refuses to flake under any circumstances, and your cronut arrives carrying enough oil to qualify for mineral rights, something has gone wrong. I'm not looking for a refund. I'm just amazed that somebody looked at that blueberry muffin and said, "Yep, that's the one. Send it out." I gave Gluteus Maximus a second chance. There will not be a third. As a side note, customers need to stop rewarding places that rely more on hype than consistency. A bakery doesn't build a loyal following by serving products like these. A loyal clientele comes from delivering quality day after day, not from getting people through the door once because of reviews, social media buzz, or curiosity. There are too many bakeries working hard to put out fresh, high-quality products every morning to spend money on places that seem comfortable cutting corners. If this visit is representative of what Gluteus Maximus considers acceptable, I'd rather support businesses that are focused on earning repeat customers instead of just attracting first-time ones.

Great bakery. Staff here are always friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a cute little bakery.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I love their Croissant Breakfast Sandwich. They also have delicious Chocolate Croissants and Chocolate Chip Cookies. It's located in a plaza, and I always have an easy time finding parking here. I'll be back again and again.

Glutenous Maximus is HANDS DOWN one of the MUST-experience pastry shops in Southern California! We first discovered their Dirty Chai Cruffin at a Seven Seas Coffee shop and were instantly hooked! So when we found out they had an actual shop that we could make sure to hit on the drive back up north stopping by became a non-negotiable... and WOW was it worth it! From the moment we walked in, the service was just as impressive as the pastries! Kymie helped guide us and make suggestion while being incredibly patient as I stood there debating what to get, because there was sooooo many options! Sweet to savory they had it! As for the pastries--every single one was next-level! Our highlights were: -Dirty Chai Cruffin - Massive (like size of a small childs head), flaky, fluffy, perfectly spiced, and filled with airy chai-coffee mousse. -Pecan Pie Croissant w/ Bourbon Maple Whipped Cream - Tastes like the best pecan pie you've ever had... wrapped in buttery layers. Unreal. -Jalapeño Ham & Cheddar Croissant - Jalapeño flavor baked right into the dough, loaded with ham and packed with cheesy, savory goodness. a MUST especially if you like jalapeno! -Turkey, Havarti & Pesto Croissant - Surprisingly there was so much meat (the most we've ever seen in a pastry, like the ham one) and flavor; one of the BEST we've ever had! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Parking is plentiful, and the shop itself is super cute inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There isn't much seating, so it's more of a grab-and-go spot--which worked out perfectly because we took our pastries on the road and devoured them at a park![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If you're anywhere near Vista (or not), this bakery is WORTH the drive and the calories. If you want to eat them more frequently and you aren't super close, you can still get their pastries at all Seven Seas Roasting Coffee locations, which is such a gift to humanity (or a curse because you might spend your entire paycheck regularly on their delectable goodies). Seriously though RUN, don't walk! They are a MUST and some of the BEST cruffins we've had in the nation!

When I tell you this is the BEST GOTdamn lemon curd I have EVER had in my Entire 39 year of life, oh my sweet Jesus

It has changed hands a couple of times over the last 10-15 years. We regularly ate here as part of our Vista rotation for breakfast/lunch, but we had a poor experience a little over a year ago, so this was our first time back to see how things were. I lasted Yelp reviewed in 2018. There still is a small counter for service inside along with four tables for four and one table for two. Six or so outside tables for service also. One table inside occupied and two outside when we entered. We were greeted by a very pleasant wait staff who were extremely helpful and efficient. We had waters, coffee, Tea, very quickly. Coffee was very good with an assortment of creamers to choose from. I ordered a special Omelet with Chorizo and cheese off their chock board. Side of fruit ($2.50 up charge) instead of potatoes along with Rye Toast. The Toast was just one slice of bread. $17. My better half had the pancake combo, two pancakes with two eggs over easy, one sausage patty. $14.50. We enjoyed the food and service. The prices were fair for the portions and quality of what we ordered. We will add Mom's back into our Vista rotation.

If I could give it a ZERO for this visit I would! I have been going to Connie's for several years…read moredined outside etc. Met Coninie several times she showed us around and talked about all the wall goodies where they were from with MUCH pride she was a ball of joy!! BUT in the past year plus something has "drastically" changed in her personality, the last time I was in before this past week, she looked depressed and ready to give up, she said she was tired and her chef was out sick. I came very close to offering her a break and running her restaurant for a couple of weeks, FREE. I have many years of restaurant business, owned my own back in the day, and a great cook, so this would've been a piece of cake. I didn't but I decided to take a friend there last Wednesday from out of town. We sat down, she had a few tables but by no means busy, she came over to take our order, my friend ordered coffee, me water. She brought those like it was the toughest thing she had done that day, her energy was so DARK and ICCKY, I wanted to leave before we got started but we were hungry and had a big day planned. She was not the least bit FRIENDLY, I placed my order and asked if it would be possible to get my waffle after my main meal. If looks could "KILL", she glared disgustingly at me and said, "YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME" I didn't quite know what to say it was a very simple request I wasn't asking to substitute or anything other than A TIME DEAL. She huffed and puffed and said, "I have that big table out there so it's gonna be awhile". It was a 6 top, WHOOPEE! I said that's fine, my friend ordered and she walked away, I sat for a minute and thought HELL NO, I will not be treated this way by anyone especially the owner of the restaurant and subject my friend to her ICKYNESS on her vacation! So I got up walked over to her open kitchen and said, "I think we will go somewhere we feel more wanted". she looked up glared and said fine! We started to walk out and she came out and said $3.00 for the coffee, like she was A DRILL SARGENT! I would have said, bleep, bleep, bleep BUT..... MY friend hadn't even touched it but put the $3.00 down and asked for a to go cup. That made her even madder, my firend said, tough day?AND her excuse yet again was her cook was sick. Sorry lady that only works for awhile and why was that our problem. I personally think it's time for her to retire with that attitude! We decided to go down to our new local restaurant "BLACK BEAR DINER"! What a great experience, had an excellent meal and service was awesome too. Will never return to Connie's NEGATIVE diner. Head the warning!
