Plus, they charged $943 for the part which sells for $250 to $450 at the online Canadian parts stores. That is over 100% markup. A bad driveshaft is easy to diagnose and replace. With their hidden fees and markups, the bill came to $1432.55.

I was told only a few issues existed, but another mechanic I trust later found more problems. Unfortunately, he was busy and couldn't fit me in before my trip permit expired. After my car failed the safety inspection, he worked extra hours to fix the issues, finding other major problems along the way. After those fixes, I returned to the original place, and they broke my emergency brake, which had just been repaired--they pressed the pedal so hard it got bent. My mechanic fixed it again. When my BF brought the vehicle for the safety, he also brought the bent pedal to the garage and asked what happened. The staff threatened to remove my vehicle from the service bay if he was "petty." They said it failed again because the clamp was not fixed. We fixed the rear clamp as instructed, but it turned out they meant the front one. When asked to fix it so the car could pass, they refused. The neighboring shop fixed it within eight minutes, yet when I returned, the original place said they didn't have time to complete the safety inspection anymore. After five visits, I finally got my safety done. Based on Google reviews, this is not unusual for them. I can provide the names of three mechanics who will testify that I am not the only customer with these experiences.
