Scam Alert - Overcharged for Labour, Poor Service…read more I had a very disappointing experience with Autochecker Garage. I dropped off my van at 8 AM for front and rear brake replacement and a left front ball joint replacement (all parts provided by me). I picked it up by 10:30 AM -- yet they charged me for 6 hours of labour, which makes no sense for a 2.5-hour job max. When I questioned it, they said it's "what the book says." If the book says to charge 6 hours for 2 hours of work, then that book is clearly made to scam customers. They billed me $709 just for labour, while my friend had the exact same work done at Brothers Auto Mechanic for $250. To make things worse, they didn't even replace the ball joint properly -- I still had the same noise and loose caliper bolt. I had to get everything inspected and fixed properly at Brothers for just $80 more. On top of it all, the receptionist had a terrible attitude, very unprofessional. I do not recommend this place. If you value your money and want honest work, stay far away from Autochecker Garage.

Maybe his mechanics don't know how to operate on regular domestic vehicles, but it could be a scam he uses regularly. Let's face it many drivers are not aware of the mechanics we operate daily. the repairs he diagnosed on my GMC Acadia would have been upwards to $1200 when half of the problems were not, and my other mechanic just hosted my vehicle and laughed when he showed me all my control arms are solid etc. this guy wasted 4 hours of my time waiting and $120. he mostly likely needs the money and has to do shady things like so as it was surprising to me his shop was licensed as it is in pretty bad shape. Just go to Canadian Tire if you don't have a mechanic as those guys work for hourly wages and don't have any incentive to rip you off or charge you more.

After my car failed the safety inspection, he worked extra hours to fix the issues, finding other major problems along the way. After those fixes, I returned to the original place, and they broke my emergency brake, which had just been repaired--they pressed the pedal so hard it got bent. My mechanic fixed it again. When my BF brought the vehicle for the safety, he also brought the bent pedal to the garage and asked what happened. The staff threatened to remove my vehicle from the service bay if he was "petty." They said it failed again because the clamp was not fixed. We fixed the rear clamp as instructed, but it turned out they meant the front one. When asked to fix it so the car could pass, they refused. The neighboring shop fixed it within eight minutes, yet when I returned, the original place said they didn't have time to complete the safety inspection anymore. After five visits, I finally got my safety done. Based on Google reviews, this is not unusual for them. I can provide the names of three mechanics who will testify that I am not the only customer with these experiences.
