Scam Alert! I won't buy from again. They advertise "kiln dried" firewood. Ordered and paid a premium for their "kiln dried" product. Tested wood with moisture meter upon delivery. Most pieces tested over 30% moisture, indicating product was not kiln dried. Brought wood inside to dry surface moisture, as per their recommendation. Tested again. Still 30%. Split a few pieces and tested once split. Still over 30%. Their "kiln dried" wood is a scam to get more money. Tried to arrange return - company is suddenly unresponsive. read more

Bottom Line: Read the Reviews and do NOT buy, especially the Mixed Hardwood. After 30 years of buying firewood in Illinois, this was the worst quality firewood that I have ever purchased. (purchased a full FC of mixed hardwood) It's clearly unconditioned, and entirely unsuitable for indoor fireplace fires. Even with the gas lit for 45 minutes, the wood will not light. It's dirty, wet, unconditioned wood. Don't think that you'll be the lucky one with a good bargain. You will regret it, as I did when I ignored the reviews. To 'add fuel to the fire', the customer service is beyond terrible and the lady that they have monitor the phone calls is rude, sarcastic and in every way dismissive of your concerns. read more

I ordered a face cord of the mixed wood. Good price compared to other firewood company's. I thought I'd found a great bargain... then I ATTEMPTED to build a fire with it. Holy wet wood. How any professional could claim that this wood is seasoned is beyond me. It does nothing but sizzle and boil out the ends. Hey mistakes happen, I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. So I reached out to them through their website to ask what could be done to about the poor product. It's been a week and I haven't heard a peep from them. Then I noticed the return policy. The policy in which if they send you terrible product you have to pay a fee for any wood that was burned/sizzled as well as a residential pick up fee. It's your terrible product! Why am I paying you anything?! Long story short I was taken in by the price and was left wishing I had spent the extra 20 bucks going with another company. After being a loyal customer for over 20+ years, I was appalled at the customer service provided by Michelle as a result of a simple typo error on their website. After admitting we made the error, which was the address one house away, Michelle took exception on the call and insisted that we pay an extra $45 dollars to have it delivered to our house and berated my wife to the extent where she needed to hang up on the call. Understandably, this type of customer service has discouraged us from ever using them again and will impact any recommendations to our friends and neighbors. read more

I placed an order on Sunday. Waited 3 full days and heard and received nothing. I replied to the order processing confirmation email that I automatically received shortly after placing the order (which was from Sunday) asking where is the delivery? I then get a call from a woman in her office saying that she found the order and that it will be delivered Friday or Saturday. She then goes on to say that the order was processed Monday and that I'm out of their normal area and that it would be a few days more. There are cheaper places that will deliver in the same day and stack for no additional fee. I thought it would be easier to place the order over the web and not have to pay cash or write a check. If don't mind waiting a week for delivery when they clearly indicate no more than 3 days, pay for a fuel charge and stacking fee on top of the cost of the wood, then use their convenient website for ordering. read more

Ordered their kiln dried cherry. Was delivered within 48 hours and stacked neatly next to the remaining wood from previous season. I keep a tarp over the wood to protect from the elements and the guys carefully placed the tarp over the existing and new delivery. Great company to work with. Reasonable and very timely service. After getting some wet wood elsewhere, worked with them for some seasoned oak. The wood is good, they charged me an extra delivery fee since I'm in River Forest and separate fee to stack. So probably a little pricier than similar companies. The email communication wasn't great. But overall the wood got here, it was good, followed instructions, so I'd recommend. read more

I ordered and paid for 2 face cords of firewood. After the delivery I called to let them know I did not received 2 face cords (4'x8' times 2) of firewood. They said they instruct their drivers how many pieces of firewood they should drop off. I said I understand what they tell the drivers but the size of the firewood needs to reflect the amount of firewood they drop off to the homeowner. I needed burnable wood for the holidays, so I ordered a face cord. It arrived not just wet, but muddy. It had not been seasoned enough to be burnable that season. (It was also delivered days late.). Once I bought a rack and seasoned the wood for over a year, it wasn't a bad mix, but the logs are still caked with dirt. Next time I'll be careful not to buy wood from a company with a return policy on their website. read more

I ordered face cord of mixed. The wood was dry and good quality of cherry and oak. Burns well. I store in a plastic lifetime box. This keeps mice from nesting and keeps it dry. Best delivered within a couple days of ordering. This is the 4th year. Very pleased. read more

I thought I got a good deal from them when I first started using them years ago. Their web site says they will have 220-240 logs per face cord. I had two face cords delivered and the pile looked small so I took pictures and stacked the wood and then measured and it was not two face cords but was significantly less. I even counted the wood using the picture and had 505 pieces which was in their count range but was not equal to two face cords of wood or close. That means they say a face cord has less wood than it really does so they don't have to provide a full face cord of wood - they jip you. A face cord is 4' x 8' (x 16") which is 32 sq feet/fc or 64sq ft for two face cords. When I measured how much wood I had it was 56.1 sq ft. That is 8 sq ft short of a full face cord of wood. That is a rip off of all their customers - Shysters! Shyster is a slang word for someone who acts in a disreputable, unethical, or unscrupulous way. read more

I ordered and paid online for a full cord of firewood, which should measure 4' tall by 8' wide one log deep. When I stacked it it was 3'5" tall by 8' wide, which amounts to a shortage of about 40 logs. I sent Michelle pictures of the stack on her request and never heard anything back. I will never order from this place again! I asked for my wood to be stacked and when I returned home for the evening it was tossed against the garage in a pile. I called and reminded the company that I asked for stacking and would they come back and stack the wood. They flatly refused. I asked for stacking in my original call. Not even close to being the "best"! Ordered all oak and was told it was kiln dried and ready to burn. Price was excellent, but what I got was wood that had water sizzling out of the ends. Now I know why the price was so good. Called to complain and they sent a truck out to look at the wood and switch it out if the wood was not good. Their idea of switch out is to leave the wet wood and just stack a some pieces of dry wood on top. WOW! GREAT! Thanks for the three days worth of burnable wood. Then after ordering from another company so I would have wood to burn for the season, I came to find out from a tree expert that was at my house for another reason, that the wood Best Firewood delivered wasn't even all oak! We would not recommend doing business here. The customer service is awful. The lady who answers calls in the office is very rude. For the amount of money that this wood cost, we would expect to be given the appropriate amount, not less than what we paid for. When trying to communicate this with her, she got very defensive. Good Mulch- Poor Delivery: After ordering from this company for 4+ years, this years order was delivered 1 week AHEAD of the requested delivery date. I understand how it is impossible to schedule delivery dates without enough lead time, but this was over a week ahead of time. I ended up taking a day off work to shovel and spread mulch in the rain. When I called to request a rebate for the delivery charge I was told that delivery dates cannot be guaranteed and that it was either a mistake by the driver to deliver early or that they were just in the area and delivered early. Delivered firewood in the pouring rain. Instead of calling me to see if I would like to reschedule they just dumped it in the driveway while I was at work. Why ask for two phone numbers and an email if your not going to use them. She made it sound like it was a hassle for them to call a PAYING customer. Then told me that their wood sits out in the rain in their lot. But the website said the wood was cover with a tarp. (Which came off the website the next day) Then she refused to pick the wood up and said if I wanted to return it I would have to bring it myself. Ordered wood for the first time from them and it was covered in mud and was low quality overall. I spent half the day knocking of mud from the logs, when I complained they said to send a picture but I had already cleaned it off. I thought I was making the right decision to buy their firewood as I asked for referrals from some people I know at work. As it turned out I am totally unhappy with the quality of their firewood and the lack of response from the owners of this 30 year family owned company. The purchase and the delivery was as expected and the person who sold me the wood was very helpful. My problem began as I tried to build me a couple of fires. The wood would just not burn. As I added more kindling to each restart, that was four tries, I was finally to able to get somewhat of a fire going. As the kindling burned out, the logs just basically just smoldered. Three or four days later I tried again and pretty much the same response. I contacted the company to talk to them about the wood, 2 year seasoned, I was told by this very helpful person that sometimes some wood is just bad and does not burn. After being asked if I knew how to build a fire I knew I was in trouble. After I told them I had some pictures of my lack of success of starting the fire this person responded that that does not mean anything to them as it could be any other companies wood. Now I know I am in trouble. I was told that they would be out in the area delivering to other customers and they would have the crew stop by and look at the wood. That they did, and as I found out from a neighbor, removed a wheel barrow or so from the wood stack. Not I do not know if they even replaced what they took. Anyway I had called after I found out they have been there and this very helpful person said they found nothing wrong with the wood. Well I decided to go ahead and send the pictures of the lack of fire to the owner and guess what... your right, no phone call, no response whatever. Would I use them again, never.
