We managed to negotiate it down to $600. Absolute rip off. I will be checking if he has a Florida license and certainly report his business if he doesn't. In Florida handyman must have valid licenses in order to do any electrical work like replacing electrical switches and to perform any work over $500. Need to add that just a few minutes after posting this review we received threats from Manny that he is going to trash our company World Yacht Group everywhere on line as a retaliation. I had a generally positive experience working with Vlad and his company. Vlad was very responsive,…read morecommunicated clearly throughout the project, and stuck closely to the agreed scope of work. My main concern was that the work became rushed toward the end. The biggest issue was with the polyaspartic garage floor coating. Properly stripping and sanding the broadcast flakes is one of the most important steps, and unfortunately it wasn't done thoroughly. There were multiple sections inside the garage where flakes were left protruding enough to catch on a mop, and the outside concrete slab extension was never properly sanded along the edge before the final coat, leaving a rough, unfinished appearance. I ended up spending a couple of days sanding those areas and applying another top coat myself. That same attention to detail was missing during the smart lock installation. The installer was clearly rushing, dismissed my suggestion to check the manufacturer's instructions, and insisted he knew what he was doing. The lock initially failed its self-test, and although he made a few adjustments, I could tell he was still rushing through it. Frustrated, I told him to leave it and that I would finish it myself. After they left, I discovered the lock wasn't working properly at all. I ended up removing it completely and reinstalling it over the weekend, following the manufacturer's instructions, modifying the door so the deadbolt could fully extend without friction, installing the correct strike plate, and getting everything working as intended. To Vlad's credit, he offered to come back and reinstall the smart lock properly and to inspect the garage floor after I raised my concerns, which I appreciated. That's why this is still a 4-star review instead of a lower rating. Overall, I would work with Vlad again because of his communication, responsiveness, and willingness to stand behind the job. That said, next time I would make sure every agreed detail is documented in writing, and I would not make the final payment until the garage floor had fully cured and I had the opportunity to do a complete walkthrough with Vlad. Since you can't walk on a freshly applied polyaspartic top coat, the floor couldn't be properly inspected until after it had cured, and by then the issues with the finish had become apparent.

I found The Affordable & Licensed Handyman through Yelp because they had great reviews so I was interested to see how much their service fee would be for a simple job when I was looking for a plumber. I needed a license plumber due to home insurance requirement to do this installation or I would've done it myself. They were responsive when I talked to them through Yelp projects. I was shocked with how much I was quoted because it was almost double the price of the automatic shut off valve device I paid for. So I had to confirm that the price that was given to me was just to switch out the bad unit with the new one. They didn't have to do anything else like run new pipes or replace anything else. When I communicated to them that the quote was high, they asked how much did i wanted to pay. I thought they would try to be more reasonable since the name is The Affordable. I give them a range based on the prices from other plumbing company that I reached out to and they couldn't do it which I understand they can set their own prices. Maybe for big projects, they'll give more of a reasonable price which is why they have great reviews on Yelp but just to replace a bad automatic shut off valve with a brand new one, I think it was overprice so I used another plumbing company where they were very reasonable on the price.

They were putting the TV mount on an outside wall and made sure we understood that it could be difficult to find studs through the stucco. They even asked if we had the exterior paint incase we had to fill a pilot hole later and paint over it. It was a challenge to find the studs but they spent the time to make sure everything was done right and when finished everything looked great.

I wasn't sure who it was because it was so late and the caller ID said "Pro TV Mounting Same Day..." I figured it was him because then he sent me a message on Yelp that night saying "I tried calling and no one answered". I messaged him to schedule a call at a time that was more reasonable. No answer. Then the same number called during a Sunday afternoon. I asked again to please just schedule the call. When I called at the scheduled time, he sounded almost half asleep on the phone (sorry I woke you up!) and I tried explaining clearly what was wrong with the issue and he said repeatedly, "why don't you just call the people who originally installed it". I mentioned I was unhappy with their work and wanted someone else. He clearly was unfamiliar with what was going on and didn't know basic terminology for installation of doors. Never asked for a guarantee, but I just wanted someone who had a more experienced and expert installation history. He then got upset when I indicated I wouldn't be using his services because he sounded like he didn't know what was going on for the project and I preferred not to pay $80 since all other handymen come to do an assessment for free so they can accurately set expectations for themselves and the customer and there isn't disappointment on either side. He literally started raising his voice on the phone because I was trying to ask his professional opinion and gather more info on what he thought was going on. Maybe he was having an off day because he seemed to get frustrated with what I thought were common questions. It seemed like he just wanted to get me off the phone and do the $80 in-person assessment. So the "phone consultation" part doesn't seem like a real thing. Again, I told him "no problem that's your policy and I appreciate your time" but I will go in a different direction Unprofessional and also seemed to have limited skills for certain simple jobs and really is focused on TV mounting or other things (I mean the phone number ID says Pro TV install"). Again, that's totally ok, but don't get upset when a customer would prefer a different option. And be careful! He then tried repeatedly harass and called me several times after now from a hidden number! He had to be reported to Yelp! It seems like this guy generally has good reviews, but this seemed very unusual and concerning. Just take a look at all the other 1-star reviews. They all talk about the SAME exact issues: calling at inappropriate times, rude/unprofessional, harassing calls, incorrect skills listed, (even being asleep, ha!), etc. There is a clear negative pattern here, but other people seemed to find benefit so up to you based your exact situation.

Writing this now because I just saw an outlet underneath the sink that's not at all mounted to the wall and was reminded of how ridiculous this whole ordeal was. They'd come maybe 2 times a week, maybe less, sit in the driveway and wait for each other for a while, and they'd always forget what they were supposed to do. Then they'd say "ah ya we remember now, gotta go to Home Depot" and take another 1-2 hours. The pace of work was incredibly slow. When they were redoing our kitchen, we came home and saw that the main handyman had bought cabinets for the sink that opened straight into the fridge and stove, so you could barely open them. It was on a corner, so clearly a corner / lazy Susan cabinet was needed. Delayed the job by however many days. They cracked the sink they put in, and there's carvings in the countertops from where they messed up with sloppy cutting. When they installed the AC window units, they stained the window panes, sink, and the outside of the house with the insulation foam and didn't attempt to clean it until I asked. They didn't get much up; still stained. They didn't put calking around the countertop they put in behind the sink. There were a bunch of other times where similar things happened that I had to ask them to redo it or do a part of the job they'd missed.

We were told that this would cover gas expenses - why take a job that is out of your network? They knew our address well before coming out. Also, some of our intake conversations were over text, so I wish we discussed the job over photos so they knew what we wanted to do in terms of the job and give us a proper quote. Just felt very scammy and weird after them asking for money without starting the job.

Before Mike, I had met with 3 other contractors to compare services and quotes but what sealed the deal for me was the 3D render service Mike offered. It was affordable and it would be free if you end up going with MDM for your remodel. Mike was able to get the renderings to me very quickly and made adjustments whenever we wanted to change something. Seeing the details of the renderings really brought what we were envisioning to life and helped with the design process. Fast forward to beginning of demo/construction, Mike's employees were impressively fast and efficient at their jobs, but what really impressed me was how clean they kept our property after each day of work. And that stated true throughout the entire process of our 7 month renovation. During construction, if there were any last minute changes, Mike would always try to cater to our needs whenever possible. Even if subcontractors made mistakes with anything, Mike would make sure it is fixed and perfect right away. Keep in mind, you can't rely on Mike for everything (as much as you might want to). You really do have to do your research (in terms of design, finishing materials, sourcing those materials, and getting them delivered on time) and know exactly what you want and how you want it, that way, Mike can plan and put into action what needs to be done. After this entire process, we are extremely happy we got this project completed with MDM. What really sets them apart is the quality of work, dependability, and the great people that work for MDM. Shoutout to Mario! They really respected our home and were very considerate of us during construction. He responded back that it's between $300 and $450 a square foot. So I told him, "Okay, if my calculations are correct, if I go with $350 a square foot so I'm not at the rock bottom, and I multiply that by 600 sq ft for a small ADU, that is roughly $210K for a price starting point with your company?" "Well no it's not exactly... "Then what did I miss?" "Well there's all sorts of other things blah blah blah..." Overall the tone was condescending and he made it clear that I didn't know what I was talking about, when in fact I have 15 years experience as a home designer that designs and budgets facelifts on houses that are about to go up for sale. I have dealt with contractors for many, many years. Eventually I got fed up with his tone and told him to cancel the appointment. As my grandma always said, you'll catch more flies with honey than hot sauce!

Ubiquiti had a solid reputation for quality and reliability, so I went about finding someone who handled their products. Yelp was a great resource and I narrowed down my choices to LA Wifi Guys, as their information gave me the most confidence. Made an appointment and David came out. Really liked his approach. Honest and transparent and not hustling me for upsells. He described my options clearly and it was easy to decide what I wanted. Not cheap, but very fair considering the higher quality solution and more experienced installation. It actually cost notably less than my original set up, which was done 6 years ago and had less features and most of all turned out crappy. David gave me an estimate for parts delivery, which turned out to be exact, and we made the install appointment for the day after. He came in and was very polite, careful and steadfast. He also was great at explaining how to operate my new system. But most of all, weeks after the install, I am sooo happy with it! Really great setup with excellent user interface and excellent camera resolution. I called these guys 9 in the morning to request to mount a TV in my place. Its 65 inches and pretty heavy and the other thing was - I wanted to do it myself and bought a stud scanner but it wouldn't show me where the stud so I made holes in a drywall. So when they came over they were able to find a stud and for that holes that I made they put anchors there. Now it's well secured and gon he hanging there for years! Well done fellas! I'm satisfied with work and especially with their timing. They were able to send a guy 2 hours after I gave them a call. Would def use them again and will reccomend to all my neighbors and friends read more

He said it couldn't be repaired and needed a new one. I purchased what he suggested and he installed it and I paid him. A couple days later, it wasn't working again and thankfully he didn't charge me to repair his mistake. The next time I inquired whether he could fix the HVAC. He said he could, but went and missed the first appointment. I had to text him to ask if he was still coming and he said he'd come at the end of the day. Great, just flaked on the appointment but whatever, let's get it fixed. But he texted back that he couldn't fix it after all but wanted to charge me a service fee. I replied back that he told me could repair it, only to follow up with he can't, but he wants to charge me? So all in all, not great.

Impressed that he replaced the doorknob in less than 2 minutes. I have more things for him to do, but I didn't have everything needed for the next job, and he had other clients waiting. As always, friendly, and cleans up after himself. Takes his shoes off and respects our hardwood floors.

I had them come out to build a step on my patio and asked if they would be able to help secure some bricks in the yard. Not only did they do exactly what I asked but they went above and beyond to fix the other bricks to ensure it was more stable for my kiddos. We have them coming back on Wednesday to install a door for us because we have more confidence in them than ourselves They are so kind, professional, thorough, genuine and respectful to work with. Then when I gave him the days and times to do the job, I heard no response. The next day, I texted him his number, and heard crickets. I thought his coming to do the work was set, when he had said, "Sure,...." but guess I was wrong. Btw, although the estimate and work I had asked for was small this time, I am actually also looking for a handyman to help fix up a house that I am renting so that would have been big bucks for Daniel. Don't burn your bridges before you start because you will luck yourself out of future jobs.
