He was super friendly and even though he was a little late our home isn't easy to find!! He came in and got right to work! Luckily it was just a loose wire which was running against the fan. They didn't try and talk us into extra service, they told us what we need and that the furnace is in good condition. We will be in touch with Best in the future for any maintenance or service needs! Truly the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. It took them an entire week to get back to me after stating I need a new AC unit. Meanwhile high temps were in the 90's all week. I called and asked for an update after 3 days and they told me they were too busy to get the order completed. My air conditioner went out this past fall. My home warranty forced me to use these people. They came out and looked at my outside unit, never stepping into my house to look at my duct work and/or the second unit i had in my attic. They told me the entire unit needed replaced and they would call me in a few days with my estimate. I got the estimate which stated that in would have to pay 4 THOUSAND dollars out of my own pocket for "duct work modifications." This was in addition to what the home warranty was paying. They only pay to replace the unit. I called Best and asked them how on earth they determined that it would cost $4000 dollars to modify duct work that they did not even come in to evaluate. His answer was, "we've seen a lot of jobs like this and just know that's what it will take." Okay. After working with my home warranty company, we were able to finally get someone else out to look at it and they replaced the entire system for less than $4000. Oh, and guess what? Went in to talk ask for the owner and was told he wasn't there as he shut his office door. Once they finally came out, it took them 5 days to complete the job. Hottest time of the year and my air conditioner went out with many others too. I called my Home Warranty company that came included when I bought the house. They referred my information to Best Heating & Cooling. I had an automated response that said they will respond within 8 hours during the week and 24 hours on the weekend. I waited 3 days for a response. Not even a call or email giving the status of my order. I understand they are busy and I am not the only one with the issue, but at least please call or send an email saying you can't make it. Others may have better experiences than I did with this company, but my personal experience with them, I would like to give zero STARS. We were contracted them through our warranty people to fix our AC unit. Our AC went out on June 21st. They came June 24th and deemed that we needed a new unit. The technician stated he would send it into his manager and they would send it into warranty by that night. We called Monday, and they stated they would get it sent in either that afternoon or Tuesday morning. We called Tuesday afternoon, they still had not sent it in. We called our warranty company Tuesday evening and the warranty company stated that they had not received anything. We called Best Heating Wednesday morning, and they said that warranty still needed something and that warranty would be calling us. I called on Thursday and they gave me a sob story about how they were swamped as we are sitting in our house in 90 weather with no answers. We were also told we would be put to the top of the list. I then called warranty and the warranty company was told that they would let them know within an hour. No contact was made. I reached out to our warranty company again Friday morning (today) and they still had not received diagnostics. They called Best and they said they would send it out by lunch. I called at 1:00 and it still had not been sent out. If they are so swamped, then maybe they should stop taking things from warranty companies. If you have the choice on who you choose to fix your things in a timely manner, do not go with this company. read more

My home warranty company uses them. I spoke to a lady here and explained my problems. I said I have no air flow and discovered there is insulation in the duct work that needs to be removed. I asked if they could help with that and she said yes and scheduled and appointment. The repair man called on his way and I again explained the problem to him as he was headed out in case I missed him. He never said they didn't clean duct work. He looked at the problem, confirmed they were full of insulation and needed cleaned. I said ok when can you do that and he replies by telling me that they don't do that work. SO, the lady on the phone and the service man both knew what the problem was and still set up an appointment and came knowing they didn't do the work I needed done. They get the $75.00 service fee from me and I get screwed by them. After reading the reviews on this place I can not believe they have business. Good thing they are linked up with the home warranty company and can make money by deceiving and ripping people off that way. Apparently they needed that $75.00 worse then me. I have never written a bad review but have also never been so appalled by a company's customer service. Our furnace went out on Sunday, November 10th, and we contacted our home warranty at that time. I'm unsure when our information was actually passed on to Best HCE from our home warranty, but we did not hear from Best HCE until 2:00pm Monday, November 11th to set up an appointment from 3:00-6:00pm Tuesday, November 12th. In the meantime we had below zero temperatures overnight and had to find a place to stay for several nights and hope our pipes wouldn't freeze. The technician came and made the diagnosis during the appointment time on Tuesday. At the appointment he had to call the home warranty company for approval. The home warranty would not approve the work on the spot, so the technician had to leave and we would have to get another appointment once the home warranty approved the work. I completely understand this is not Best HCE's fault, and I had no issues with them up until this point. Our home warranty approved the work to be done at 8:00 am Wednesday, November 13th, so we had the go ahead to call Best HCE back and set up another appointment. My husband called several times throughout the day Wednesday and did not hear back until almost 3:00pm. I understand being busy, but someone could have called us much earlier than this. At that time we were told they could not come back to our house to fix the furnace until Monday, November 18th, so we would be without heat in this cold weather for 8 days. They had no openings Thursday and told us they had no technicians working Friday or on call for the weekend. How are there no technicians working on a weekday in this unseasonably cold weather?? My husband explained to them that I am 9 months pregnant, and we have to go into the hospital Sunday, November 17th to be induced. I will be in the middle of labor when they could finally come back to our house. The lady we spoke to Wednesday was very nice and said she would ask all the technicians when they were back if someone could squeeze us in the next day, but we never heard back Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday. The only reason we spoke to them Friday was to tell them we found another company to come out right away. I understand Best HCE would have fixed it Tuesday if it wasn't for the home warranty's process. But it became unacceptable when we called over and over and wouldn't hear back for 6-7 hours. And then no one called to let us know if they were going to be able to work us in or not due to our situation. We just needed a warm house to bring our baby home to, and I thought we would be able to get a 2nd appointment sooner than 6 days after the first one. I have never been so disappointed in customer service and just horrible communication. I felt like we were treated second class because we are home warranty customers instead of "regular" customers. You would think they would treat all of their customers the same in order to have them as returning customers. The salesperson seemed to be honest and really care about what he was selling. Our furnace went out on New Years Eve of all nights, in the morning we placed a call to our home warranty company & they sent us to Best for our repairs. The technician who came to our house new years day was pleasant & nice to deal with but we had issues with communication between Best & the warranty company agreeing on when our paperwork got sent in so our repairs could move forward. Having a small child & handicapped sister residing in my home I was infuriated at being left without heat in sub zero weather, and placed my first review on Google plus about the lack of service I felt I was receiving. At that point things went crazy!! I got a call from Best's office advising me they were recording the conversation & was told if I did not remove my negative review they would not complete the repairs on my furnace. He yelled at me & i finally told him I wouldn't be comfortable with him or anyone in his company in my home any longer. My warranty company paid for me to find another individual to complete the repairs. Long story short, the customer service is seriously lacking here. I had a problem at my mobile home...no heat. Best came out and found the cause , but it was a part they did not have on the truck. They showed me how to get some heat into the house and came back the next day with the needed part, installed it and reset the thermostat . Top notch job . It's been a few weeks now. They were finally reachable on the Monday after my post. The first technician who came out didn't appear to be very thorough and assumed the problem was a plumbing one; specifically the condensation drainage. We had to call them out the very same day. No heat. He then tried to clean ice out of an exterior vent of some sort. We called them the very next day. No heat. The third fix was an entire heating element, which had burned itself up. There was no doubt that that was a problem that needed fixing. He verified that heat was coming out and consistent. We had to call them back about two days later. No heat. The fourth fix was a new control board. There was some sensor that kept turning the heat off. This was the final fix. Overall they were extremely polite, apologetic, and VERY responsive to the return calls. The first two visits were by a technician who wasn't very experienced it seems. The second two visits were by a different technician who seemed very capable and was troubleshooting a very difficult problem that probably required two visits. As far as I know, there didn't appear to be any investigation as to their "emergency after hours number" going unanswered for an entire weekend. I suspect people still try to call them over the cold Iowa weekends and get no response. read more

Worst costumer service I have ever experienced. We haven't had AC for a month thanks to this company and they want to blame my home warranty company but it's not their fault. I left a voicemail on Friday, called and left another message yesterday around 12:45 and then contacted my warranty company to see if they knew what was going on but BEST didn't answer their calls or messages either. I finally got the receptionist Brandy on the phone before 5pm and when I asked why no one has returned my call she hung up on me and then continued to hang up or send me to voicemail each time I tried calling back. I admit I left an angry message demanding a call back but that was the only time I wasn't considerate when talking with these people. I checked the status of my claim with my warranty company this morning and they said BEST requested we transfer companies for repairs now. I tried calling BEST to talk to the owner but Brandy told me he wasnt there and then proceeded to SCREAM at me that if I ever call back she will call the cops on me for harassment. I was hoping to speak with the owner about the poor customer service I experienced and give him a chance to fix it before I left a bad review but I guess that's not an option read more

I was happy with this company when they first came out, but I definitely don't feel the same way anymore. They were great and professional when they first came out. But when they left, they left my house with a gas leak. They told me the smell would go away. It slowly did go away a little bit. A week later they came out to do the testing for the energy rebates. The house still smelled like natural gas. They told me later that they smelled it and sprayed their fittings to see where the problem was. They didn't find anything, so they said nothing about how it wasn't supposed to smell that way still, and left. A couple days later my house still smelled, so I called mid american and they came out to diagnose the problem, telling me it was in the hose that attaches to the gas meter. They shut our gas off and left. Best came out to fix the problem, saying nothing to me about how it would cost me money. They installed all new furnace, AC, and water heater, and created a gas leak in the process. A week later I got a bill in the mail for repairing the gas leak that THEY CAUSED. $630.00. We lived in our house for a whole week with a gas leak! Needless to say, I informed them that I wouldn't be paying for a mistake that they made. Shouldn't have ever left my house without testing for a gas leak to begin with. When I told them I wouldn't be paying, they didn't try to remedy the problem at all, and instead told me that they were sorry I felt that way and basically to call and find a new company to deal with.. So professional! Ha! I at least expected them to try to work with me, I would have completely understood if the hose wasn't something they usually cover, but that should have been something brought up while they were there installing my units when they noticed that it was leaking gas! read more

They say they have 24/7 emergency service, and if you call on the weekend it will route you to the on-call technician. Which would be great if the on-call technician would answer his phone. Called all weekend long and left several messages, and never got a call back. Our furnace stopped working early Saturday and we've been freezing (along with our pets) all weekend now. I understand if they are busy this time of year, but a simple 10 second call explaining that would have been nice. And if you don't have 24/7 emergency support, please stop advertising it. I guess they figure that since a lot of their business is through home warranties, they don't have to care. Will do everything I can to avoid this business in the future. read more

I was assigned to Best Heating and Cooling through an American Home Shield home warranty. Just like the other reviews said, they were pleasant at first but once the paperwork and approval process started, it was a nightmare. The diagnosis was that my AC needed to be replaced. First they tried to say there were $800 in out of pocket/not-covered modification fees, but when I called the warranty to protest, the costs were proven to be covered by the warranty. Then they were 'waiting for parts' for about a week, and 'playing phone tag' with the warranty company for another week. This started on 6/5 and they finally put me on the schedule for 9am on 6/22. When they didn't show up, I called and they said there was still some issue with AHS. I called AHS, got it resolved and they've now bumped me out to 6/27. So, it's been nearly three weeks and I still have no air conditioner. They are so fraudulent and unprofessional, I'm going to cancel and start the process over with AHS so that I can have a different contractor. read more

They used smaller than called for copper pipe and didn't put in the proper condensate drain for our water heater. After attempting to contact them directly, have now gone through BBB. Their response to my complaint was full of misinformation as to what actually happened in our exchange, including actually lying about my having authorized them repairing the unit and having setup an appointment to do so.
