I went there 3 times and they overcharged twice. The man in his 40s was at the counter. Watch the price closely and double check each items on the receipt especially when you use credit cards. I have been knowing the owners for over 20 years withe any issues and I am very disappointed . One star is too much. read more

I love this little market on Brighton Ave. I live super close by, and whenever it comes up I'm only reminded that I don't visit enough. Asian and Hispanic, this market has just the kind of goods I'm often looking for (which, especially for the Hispanic part, cant be found easy enough in Boston). They do have a pretty good selection for their size, although I often find myself wishing they had certain products (probably more obscure ones that I grew up with). After 4 years in Boston, I'm still getting used to the lack of accessible Hispanic products around, so I am grateful to this shop. Good products, some produce, and even a little bit of meat. Definitely worth checking out for your Asian or Hispanic needs! read more

Great place to find asian ingredients, especially Thai or Vietnamese. They have amazing selection of Thai snacks im not gonna lie. I even found Maggi soysauce, fermented fish sauce (mắm cá sặc, mắm cá lóc), ferrmented soybean which I usually have to go all the way to Dorchester. If you all the way the end of the first aisle, they have good instant coffee sackets too. They have basic produce products (veggies, potato, onions, poultry, Thai fresh herbs,...). The shop owner is not very good at English but he's super friendly. If you need him to help finding anything just show him a picture. They have 10$ minimum for credit card but you can ask to add extra 0.25$ to swipe any purchase that under $10 of you dont have any cash in hand. Sunrise Market is such a find for your Asian and Latin grocery needs. It may not be a sight for American grocery sensibilities, but for affordable prices for veggies such as okra, you can beat it. In fact, the quality of their refrigerator case veggies is great. I don't really buy from the bins unless I am in in a pinch and going to cook those veggies that day. Honestly, they sometimes look a little wonky and I am have my Whole Foods girl squeamishness. Venture down the aisles to find ready-made sauces to add flair to your cooking repertoire. As a multicultural mixed girl I love this lil bodega corner store. Half of the store has Asian goods, mostly Thai (yessss thank you), and the other half has Latin foods. The front of the store has a small offering of produce with both some Southeast Asian produce (Thai basil, mint leaves) and Latin produce (plantains). Cash only when your total is 10$ and under. I must admit that when I first stepped in and saw that the cashiers were chinese I had second thoughts but I was mistaken. The left half of the store is clearly hispanic and there is where you'll find most of the hot sauces (see pic), it is a nice fusion of asian and hispanic hot sauces. I was quite let down when I ran out of thai tea, and I'd been looking for it at many many places. Whole Foods had "Chai", which is delightful, but... I'd really been looking for Thai. Enter the Sunrise Market. Yeah, it's small, but it has SOO many things, including teas, and Thai was one of them. I was quite happy to see this tea. I can't get over the fact that it has the same rotting smell as Super 88. I do buy my garlic there exclusively, because it's rarely sprouting or moldy, which is more than I can say for the other 3 supermarkets I've tried. I occasionally get some veggies or hot peppers, but I could never buy meat or fish there. And it bears repeating although Shivani said it first, they close early. read more

A bit strange- the owner's very young child was in one of those bouncy chairs on the floor and followed me around the store and the place is HEAVILY cluttered. However, this place is worth 5 stars because it had Latin groceries that virtually no other place offers near me in Boston. I found guava paste easily (with the help of the lady behind the counter) and rare spices. read more

From the bag of the beans to can of beans and to paste of the beans are the greatest selections. The hot sauce selections are awesome because their are from India, Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia, China, etc. and especially, the "sardines" fish selection as well. Each aisle has a great selections of its own diverse countries and nicely organized. Fresh different parts of beef, pork, chicken, and especially fish are always fresh. it is like daily produce and always fresh. Costumers are always waiting for the fish and chickens to get clean and cut into pieces. If you want to cook food in different cultures, Sunrise Market is the place you should be at because they have different ingredients, seasoning, noodles, pastas, hot sauces, rice, vermicelli, frozen vegies and sea food, etc. read more

The Sunrise Market is an interesting ethnic food store. There is a large array of Caribbean ingredients, South American foods, however a majority of the market is stocked with packaged Asian ingredients. Upon entering the store, the visitor is greeted by a narrow passage with a checkout counter on the right and an offering of packaged dried fruits and snacks closely on the left. The produce is located in the front, with shelves stacked with the normal oranges, apples and bananas and accompanied by plantains, yams, starfruits, pineapples, and several unidentified Asian vegetables. The fresh produce looks slightly travel worn and a little bruised. I would not search for fresh produce in this particular store, unless you were looking for a very unique fruit or vegetable. There is a freezer case along the left side and back of the store stoked with a vast array of strange and interesting meats. They have everything from chicken hearts to duck testicles to goat tail. There are several parallel shelves with offerings from each geographic region grouped together. The first aisle has a collection of Hispanic Goya products. The second aisle is primarily Caribbean spices, a vast array of beans and rice, cans and cartoons of fruit juices and coconut products, and strangely canned vegetables and fish. The third aisle is a collection of Japanese and Chinese cans and packages of various food items I have never imagined. The last is a random assortment of American and Asian cleaning products, soaps, and shampoos and household items. There is a huge collection of beans and rice, legumes, canned meats and fish, and a vast array of different cooking oils. Many of these products can be found in the international section of most grocery stores. The Asian products and the specific selection of meats was what stood out as most different, in addition to the organization of the store, the cramped layout and low level cleanliness and order of the store. read more
