At first, we thought we found a diamond of an agent. Marcus was referred to us and was quick to…read morestart house hunting for our relocation from the west coast. He did video walkthroughs of houses for us, and gave honest opinions about the areas/homes/etc. We quickly found a home that checked most of our boxes and he helped us place a competitive offer that was accepted. But that's where the awesome customer service ended. Once our offer was accepted, we were handed off to his assistant, Liz, and virtually never heard from Marcus again. We signed our paperwork with a mobile notary on the west coast on Friday, packed up our house on Monday, and by Tuesday I was flying to Nashville with our infant, and my husband hit the road in our car. Unbeknownst to us, our signing paperwork got stuck with FedEx because of the 2021 snowstorm -- leaving me and my infant stranded in a Nashville hotel for five days while my husband made his way across the country.  Liz seemed to not even realize we had made the move, and no one sympathized or offered any support to the fact I was stranded at a hotel with a 12 month old. (Thankfully I packed extra baby diapers and food). When we finally were "allowed" to take possession of the house, it took another five days to physically get the keys. (Had to remind Liz to get them to us) In our purchase agreement, a portion of the money was to go to a contractor that Marcus referred to us.  That contractor was unreliable and had horrible communication. I copied Marcus on the four months of e-mails between us and the contractor -- so he was aware of the problems we were having with his referral - but he never said anything. The contractor never finished his job, and finally returned the unused portion of the funds after weeks of radio silence. Surprisingly, about six months after we moved, a Heflin Team koozie and thermos showed up on our doorstep at 8am. No note, no knock, still no actual "Welcome to Tennessee" from anyone at the Heflin Group. All-in-all, while I appreciate the fact that we found a home quickly and our first offer was accepted, I won't be using The Heflin Team on any future real estate business because they really dropped the ball before the game was over. *The mortgage person he connected us with was amazing, though!
