For the past four years, my spouse and I have used Sue's tax services and have been very pleased--up until this year. For the past two years, we've worked with her remotely after moving a few hours away. Unfortunately, this year was a completely different experience. Despite reaching out over a month before the tax deadline and providing all requested documents, nothing on our file was completed or even reviewed. Given that our returns are very similar year to year, this should have been a straightforward, turn-key process of updating numbers. Instead, we were repeatedly told our file was being worked on when it clearly was not. Her office also does not provide a secure portal or method for sending documents, so we created our own secure Google Drive to share everything. Based on activity, it appeared the documents were never even accessed, which prompted our patient but repeated check-ins, along with periodic emails that were ignored and never replied to. If email communication is not a strong suit, a phone call would have been appreciated--but we never received one and always had to initiate contact ourselves. During one of those calls, we even asked if we should come in person, and were assured it was not necessary and that she regularly handles remote clients. As the deadline approached, we were told an extension would be filed due to timing and the lack of completion due to how overwhelmed they were, however no one reached out to tell us this, we assumed ours would be completed on time. On April 14th, after being on hold for over 30 minutes, Sue finally told us the day before deadline that she was filing the extension while on the phone, collected our personal and banking information, and said she would confirm once it was submitted. That confirmation never came. The following morning (tax deadline), we called to follow up since we had not heard from her as promised. During that call, her admin staff placed my spouse on hold to check with Sue on the status of the extension. While on hold, the line was not muted and we overheard Sue say, "those effing people are a pain in my a**," clearly referring to us. When she came on the phone moments later, her tone was completely different. We were honestly shocked and confused--especially since we had simply been trying to confirm whether our extension had actually been filed after not receiving the promised confirmation the day before tax deadline. She then acted as if she didn't even know we had spoken the day before and told us we were simply on her "extension list." No extension had been filed, and no payment had been processed. On tax deadline, my spouse and I had to take it in our own hands and call the IRS to request the extension and give a best guess payment. Communication throughout this process with Best Team Tax was extremely poor. Emails went unanswered, calls were not returned, and we had to repeatedly follow up just to get vague or inconsistent updates. Staff were polite but unable to provide clear or accurate information. We are genuinely surprised by this experience, given how positive prior years have been. However, due to the lack of communication, follow-through with completing what we were told was being done, and lack of professionalism (cussing in the background, etc) we will no longer be using or recommending these services. Respectfully, we were once happy clients but after this year we are done and now are left to find someone else to do them for us at the last minute. We would have preferred transparency up front, if you didn't have the time or ability to complete. read more

Sue was very gracious not charging me today to file . I usually do my own taxes online but had some investment moves so thought I needed her expertise this year. Well the moves I made won't be counted until next year . I'll happily return to her next year to get my taxes done. You don't come across people who do business like this often anymore. read more

My husband and I were drawn to use Sue based on her good reviews and very reasonable prices. We appreciated her friendliness and knowledge on our first call. However, everything seemed to go downhill after that. Sue was mostly unresponsive to phone calls or emails and continually delayed getting our taxes done without any communication. We have now gone with a different CPA who is now helping us recoup thousands of dollars we were supposed to have gotten back (not all of this happened while using Sue, we did use one other CPA before her), but this was really mind-blowing. Additionally, we are a small business and she did not advise us about the pass through entity tax we missed out on which was also very disappointing to find out about. I am sorry to leave this review as I really hoped things would work out with Sue, but wanted our voice to be heard about our experience. Absolutely one of the worse services I have ever gotten from ANY company. I was drawn to Best Team Tax because of the glowing reviews but I totally regret choosing them. I am one-and-a-half years behind on my books and I contacted Best Team Tax to get caught up so I could apply for funding for my business as well as do my taxes. Because I needed funding, all of a sudden having my books in order became a pressing issue for me and I needed someone who could do them promptly. Suzane Werden asked for me to send copies of all my bank statements and employee info. Red flag #1 was that she did not have a secure way for me to send all of this sensitive information. I asked if she had an encryption service but instead, she assured me that sending things directly to her personal email would be good enough. I begrudgingly obliged. After looking at my info, she said it should take about a week to get everything straightened out. A week later I called in to check and she mentioned that she was backlogged and that it would take another week. Well, I HAVE GOTTEN THE SAME STORY FROM HER FOR FIVE WEEKS NOW!!!! The last time we spoke she said that she was going on vacation on Friday so she would ABSOLUTELY have everything done by then.... Well it is Tuesday of the following week, I am guessing she went on Vacation and left me hanging. Now, I have wasted 5 weeks and have to start from scratch on finding an accountant that actually values me and my time. RUN THE OTHER WAY DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! read more

I have worked with Suzanne Werden for three years now and I have rarely been this consistently happy with someone's work. Not only does she know tax rules inside and out, but she remains vigilant in keeping up with the changes to our tax system. Plus, she's incredibly funny (or, at least I think so) and, at the end of the day, a really nice person. Sue has been doing our taxes since 2017. She is great at getting the most deductions each year based on our filing status. I would recommend Sue to help you with your taxes. That being said, if you encounter any issues after filing, good luck getting in touch with Sue.. My husband is in the military and files state taxes in MO. He needs an amendment for our 2017 (that Sue filed for us) because MO changed a law that year. This is the last year we can make the amendment. We have been reminding Sue for OVER A YEAR, and in the last month we have contacted her weekly. IF I get in touch with Sue, she claims it is a priority and she will get it done in the next day. She asks us to follow-up. To date, Sue has not returned any of our calls and our amendment has not been filed. I am afraid we will lose over $1K dollars if Sue does not complete this amendment. read more

This is a tough one to write. I've used Best Team Tax Consulting group for multiple years. My first year with Sue was fantastic. Each year I have continued going back because I trust what she has done in the past. However, each year it keeps taking longer and longer. Honestly the time wouldn't be as big of a deal if it was communicated well. I took my taxes in this year in early February and still have not received any communication about them being finished. This year weeks have passed between communications, which is disconcerting. On March 18 Sue told me that she was waiting to file (with my permission) until new software came in, but I haven't heard back since despite multiple emails. The work is good, but the communication has been terrible. So those are some things I would consider before hiring this business. read more

I am in a financial crisis...I have no one to discuss this with as my parents are cash paying and don't know how to advise me.
