This place was TERRIBLE! When I walked in there was no one at the receptionist desk to greet me. A man walked up and said sit down. The lady finally came and asked if i had an appointment then walked me back to my room. I've never been to a massage place where each session is blocked by curtains. I could not relax because I was constantly hearing noise. Bathroom, talking, phone ringing, etc. it was ridiculous. The massage was somewhat relaxing. I had a male masseuse and his pressure wasn't of my liking so I asked for light pressure. He didn't listen so I kept asking for light pressure. They did not have proper draping. I'm used to being draped with a sheet. They used a bathroom towel and the bed wasn't cover with a sheet either. I don't know how to describe it but it was a thin reusable covering. Afterwards the receptionist asked me to leave a tip for the guy. I said no and walked out! I was not satisfied with this establishment. I would never return and I DO NOT recommend this place to anyone. read more

Another bad Groupon experience, we wish we had read the reviews here before booking. We arrived early for our appointment and asked if they had an ATM for tipping and they directed us down the hill to Trader Joes. We hurried back and when we got in they scanned our groupon and told us to sit. After thirty minutes passed we had to choose between our movie or continuing to be eaten by mosquitos. We left fo attend our movie and contacted groupon for a refund. Would kot return or recommend this place based on the customer service, atmosphere, or professionalism. read more

Horrible, horrible, HORRIBLE! I am a reflexology connoisseur, and this was by far the worst massage I've ever had. I did a groupon combo (which is 1/2 body and 1/2 feet). I asked the woman that checked me in to tell my masseuse to give me more pressure (as I typically am always a fan of deep pressure). He took it to the MAX -- poking and prodding my neck leaving me in excruciating pain. I asked him several times to use less pressure and screamed "ow" on MULTIPLE occasions. I even overheard the woman who checked me in talking to him every time I screamed. I was two seconds to walking away when he finally moved to my feet. I asked him for the last time to be gentler, and he finally obliged. I am 2 hours away from my massage and after a shower I have already noticed bruises on my neck and shoulders. I just moved to this area for a new job, and I was looking for a massage to help relaxing my back after a busy day of working. Best Wellness was able to schedule me for same day appointment. Judy greeted me at the door and led me to the back. She asked how long I would like, and it is 60 for one hour, which is a pretty good price. Although the massage itself is okay, I didn't get the level of stress relief I was hoping. I gave two star because I don't feel very private during the entire session. And some part of my body was not properly covered that led me to suspect that this place might be a bit shady. read more

The worst experience I ever have had in massage salon!!! No music, rooms are devided by curtains so you can here conversation on front desk, therapist are untrained, speak 0 english. I was unhappy with servise but still willing to tip some money. I gave money and asked for change when the front desk lady pull up written sign on which says " Please tip us % 20 , we work hard here" She basically refused to give me change back. I have had around 7-8 massages in my life. I know what it feels like to receive a massage. This business is by far the most unprofessional and unqualified establishment I have been to. My boyfriend and I had booked a groupon over a month prior to our appointment, and upon our arrival, the front desk employee (who barely spoke English - quite difficult to communicate), said he called us once to cancel. I asked if he had called more than once, or even left a voicemail for that matter. He had not. I then ask to see the manager and after 20 minutes we finally agree to do the treatment today. Our appointment was at 5 and at 5:20 we began our session and ended at 6 (even though we paid for 60 minutes). During the massage, the man was straddling my body and pushing his elbows into my BONES. I kid you not, I had bruises over my body the next day. During the massage I was constantly moaning in pain. The next day I was limping because of my pain. Never coming back. read more

Literally the worst massage I have ever had in my life. This doesn't even consider the ambience of people talking. The massage therapist has clearly had no training and this company should be reported to the better business bureau. I did however hear another man come in, ask for 30 min w a female masseur, her moan for less than 20 minutes, and him leave. I hurt after my massage and not in that way you do after a good stretch or massage. DO NOT waste your money here. I have been to all manner of massage places, all over the country. Best Wellness SPA ranks at the top of the list for Chinese-style foot massage/back massage. The place is immaculately clean, with a calm atmosphere, important to this middle-aged lady coming in on her own. The staff are friendly and it was easy to communicate. No need to worry about safety or comfort coming alone. There is respect for your privacy, proper draping is done, I was treated with the utmost courtesy. My masseur, Tim, was strong, skilled, and receptive to my feedback. I just been on a red-eye flight 2 nights before and my back was in knots. He made those knots his personal project and ironed them all out! The price on the lower end of DC massage and spas, check to see if they are running a Groupon. read more

Worst place ever!!! Although I have to admit they were punctual. Neither gentleman spoke English but we did get big inviting smiles. The bed they ask you lay on while you are basically naked (just your underwear) still has the remnants of the person before you. My daughter asked for clean linen after pointing out the bedclothes had make up and other stains on it. Instead of getting clean linen initially, the gentleman flipped it over and invited her to lay down. That should've been enough reason for us to leave but no not us. We finally got clean linens now on to the massage. My massage consisted of elbows in my back while standing over the front of my body. What it felt like was my head was getting humped. His private area was literally on top of my head. When I lifted my face to stop the massage his foul smelling package was in my face. It took me 2 mins. to communicate I needed the lady who answers the phone to come in so that I could ask for the masseuse licenses. The receptionist instead of presenting the license, repeatedly stated she would do the massage instead. Again I asked to see their licenses to which she replied my masseuse is licensed in Canada and New York. My daughter's masseuse left his license at home. My daughter informed the receptionist her rear end being squeezed repeatedly and having someone's hand moving between her crack has never been experienced during a massage. I bought the Groupon voucher and really enjoyed my massage here. Definitely wasn't a full hour though.. Trudy was amazing. I think she may be owner and or manager? Her other staff, not very welcoming . I initially scheduled my appointment for 2 PM, but ended up getting in an accident while I was in my Uber and had to call them to push back to 2:30. I'm actually surprised they were so accommodating. It was a very relaxing massage, and I will definitely be coming back to her. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience under the skilled hands of Judy who provided an amazing deep tissue massage for 60 minutes. I felt relaxed and revitalized after the massage and recommend this spa for anybody requiring some immediate muscle relaxation. She was very accommodating to my requests during my session. Unprofessional, avoid at all costs! I visited three weeks ago as I am still recovering from a sport injury and I asked for a sport massage with emphasis on my injured right knee. The first 20 mins of the massage seemed normal yet ineffective. However, I was asked to turn and lay on my back and that's were things became unprofessional to say the least!! I felt uncomfortable and asked that I leave earlier, before the actual appointment was supposed to end. read more

I understand why this place has horrible reviews. But I want to be fair to them. I've had massages 3 times (whole body massage, I can't vouch for foot massage) with them. Judy, the owner, was excellent. She had professional training and practiced massage therapy in China before coming to the States. If you can get an appointment with her, you are in good hands. But--it's a big but--her employees aren't nearly as good. My 3rd massage was done by a guy -- he knew nothing about massage therapy that I can tell you. 4 stars for the quality of the massage itself. For an inexpensive hour of foot reflexology and hot stone treatment, this place was great. It's very low key, kind of a low budget vibe, but I was deeply relaxed and felt amazing by about 10 minutes in. Literally nothing is good...scheduling was hard because of the language barrier, the place looks like a hole in the wall, the massage is done in the smallest "room" ever (barely a room, just drapes, I being normal sized can barely turn around in it, can totally hear everything else), the therapist next door took phone calls during the massage and I could hear every single word of it, draping was weird (the sheet was folded when I was left alone in the room - although nothing feels inappropriate, full disclosure), the massage was an hour-long back rub with no pressure. read more

Best Wellness Spa--This place was the absolutely worst. I booked appointments for 6:00 PM couples massages with foot reflexology two weeks in advance. I showed up on time and was told "we are busy can you come back in 2 hours". Thankfully the visit was booked with a LivingSocial voucher so I didn't have to stand there and debate about my refund. I have no idea how the actual massages would have been and I will never waste my time finding out. Who has time to rush through DC traffic on a Friday only to be turned away! Spend the extra money and go somewhere else! This place was the worst! It was super difficult to make an appointment (my husband and I were doing a couples massage). When we arrived, they had double booked our time slot and asked that we return an hour later. When we returned, they were finally able to provide us service. They never asked if I wanted a male or female, however, the female was who prepped me so I thought she would be providing me my massage. I wasn't aware I had a man touching me until he inquired if I was okay- which I wasn't. The deep tissue massage was all over the place and done mainly without massage oil?!?! When you exit, they say that tips are welcomed but them the woman (who hadn't done my massage), tried to say we HAD to give $10 or more. TDLR: Don't bother coming here. Not relaxing, long wait time, bad customer service. The signs outside don't make it clear which door belongs to the business. The decour are lacking to say the least. There are no rooms. It's just curtains so you can hear and sometimes see what's going on around you. It's also not the cleanest place, it smells weird, and it's very dark. There was no one at the front desk to greet me when I came in. I stood inside for about 10 minutes before someone came to help. All they did was come to redeem my Groupon and then disappeared without any information as to when I'd be getting a massage. Just as a note, this place is not busy at all. When I came here there was only one person getting a massage. I didn't even stay for the massage because of the bad customer service and how dirty it was here. I have visited this spa 3 times and the service each time by Judy was exceptional. I have issues with my lower back and Judy spent most of the time manipulating my back muscle - reducing the tension and tightness in that area. Best Wellness pricing for the District of Columbia is also fantastic. I have shopped around and I believe they have the most competitive price in all of DC. This business is extremely unprofessional. Earlier this week I called to make an appointment for Sunday 2/18 at 3PM. First of all, they didn't honor the groupon that I had purchased, claiming that "it was an error" and the "do-Terra massage is extra", even though the Groupon was for a Do-Terra massage. Then on the day of my massage at 1:30 PM they called (I wasn't at my phone) and then texted me saying they were cancelling my appointment with no explanation. I proceeded to call them several times (no response). When I finally got through, the lady answering the phone did not speak English very well (she actually said "my English no good. Very busy. Sorry. Very busy. We call you back later."). Of course they didn't call back. After all this unbelievably unprofessional behavior, I have still not heard from them and I'm instead asking groupon for a refund. read more

I guess you really get what you pay for. The massages here are very inexpensive and the service is horrible. I got treated to a couples massage here as a gift and I didn't complain (because I wanted to be a good sport) but the massage I received was not a good one. It felt like a person with no preofessional experience was rubbing my body. I really did not feel relaxed at all. Only about 30% of my massage was relaxing and that was the hot stone part. I had to tell him several times to ease up and be softer. I usually almost ALWAYS fall asleep when I get massages, not this time. To make matters worse, you could hear the phone constantly ringing and massages being booked over and over again. I'm used to a quiet atmosphere when getting massages. How are you supposed to relax with someone constantly talking outside of the "sheet" hanging that separates you from the other guests? The employees don't speak English very well, so the person answering the phone had to constantly repeat themselves and talk louder and louder! When we asked if they accepted a card payment for the tip, no one understood us and one person shook their head "no" so we walked out. I wasn't worried about a tip anyway because of the service overall. Well, they chased us, YES CHASED US OUTSIDE yelling "Tip! Tip! Tip!" And when we came back in, they accepted my card but said "you have to give us $20 minimum. We make no money off of Groupon". Well whose fault is that?! Like I said, I didn't want to make a big deal because it was a gift and the person that treated me was satisfied (he doesn't get massages so he had no expectations really) but I would neeeever choose to go back there. There are a couple of reasons I would not suggest this place: 1) I've never had someone answer their cell phone and carry on a conversation while massaging me. 2) Multiple times people would come in and out of the little stall where I was being massaged. That was super uncomfortable for me considering the people coming in and out were male employees. 3) The massage was decent but not worth being the uncomfortable experience and rudeness of the employees. 4) It was nearly impossible to communicate with the employees regarding what I wanted. It took a solid ten minutes up at the front to communicate that I preferred a female masseuse. 5) The worst thing was I gave a $10 tip on a $60 massage which I thought was more than generous considering the really uncomfortable experience I'd just gone through. And during checkout the receptionist asked me if I could give a $15 tip instead of my $10. Is it really worth 5 more dollars to be an ass to your customers? read more

The worst massage ever! I purchased a couples Groupon for me and my mom, for her bday 3-10. Very affordable and it's on Wisconsin Ave..so hey must be nice. Walked in and it smelled funky. We sat down and it's massage tables right in front of us! A guy walks from behind a sheet to greet us. We state our appt time 11..he says ok "Few mins". Goes back behind the sheet and massages a client. The chairs my mother and I are sitting in, are directly in front of the sheet. I can stand up and lift the sheet to the side and see who he was massaging. Phone rings..a lady pops out from the sheet to answer. Takes an appt ..barely because she doesn't speak English well. She goes back to massage the couple. That happened twice for them both. They literally stopped to answer. We're trying to whisper and be considerate, since a couple is right in front of us. 11:15 a younger woman comes and closes a sheet, right next to the window and door. She points to the beds and motion for us. I said Oh no, too close to the door. I want the back room. A younger man comes out and they speak in their language. The older man comes out from the sheet to talk to me. Obviously stopping his massage again. He says Let them clean up and we can go back there. So we're escorted by the younger employees to the back at 11:25. So much better in the back. At least you have privacy and not undressing in the front. So I let my mom have the guy and I took the girl. Neither one spoke English and barely understood it! This girl RUBBED ME THE ENTIRE TIME! She is not qualified and cannot be licensed! In fact, they have a certificate sitting on the front desk. That someone completed online..yes online. Back to the massage: she was rubbing me as if l were a pair of pants and her hands were the lint brush. Just constantly going up and down my arms with hard and soft pressure. Then she straddled my back and squeezed my shoulders. I'm thinking Ok here we go. Noooooo.. she digged her elbow in my back and butt! I told her No, no. She started on my calves with what felt like her knuckles! I didn't want to ruin it for my mother but I wanted to stop several times because of pain and the audacity that this lady called this a massage. You can hear the phone ringing and people talking because it's a small area. Then hot oil and rocks came from out of nowhere! Then she puts the rocks in my hand and wiped me down like I had wrinkles. I turned on my back and she rubbed my forehead and said All done!. I sat up and was dizzy for 10 mins..so was my mother. She said her guy was way too rough but it was a massage. So we get dressed and go to the front desk. Older lady scans my phone for Groupon and younger girl stands nearby. I took my phone and we said bye..I could not say Thank you. Older lady points at sign that says Tips accepted $10 per person. Uumm yeah right..you're lucky I'm not calling the cops on this establishment. I feel robbed and I'm pissed. But nicely, I shake my head No thanks and put my purse on my shoulder. She yells Tip!!Tip!! I say She doesn't deserve a tip bit have a nice day. I created a Yelp account specifically to write a review about my HORRIBLE experience at Best Wellness Spa. I found them on Groupon and decided to go because they had same day availability. I had been very sick and decided a needed a massage to help me get in spirits. I made my appointment for 6pm, but they called me around 4:30 asking if I could come in at 5. Luckily I was in the area so I said sure. I get there at 5 and they have 5 other people booked at that time and tells me they are seeing what they can do about it. One couple booked their appointment a month ago on Groupon and another a week ago. The manager tells 2 of the guest (already in the middle of getting their massages) that they need to leave early because they didn't want the couples to leave. A guy is yelling from his room NO and he wants his money refunded. The manager leaves his room and tells a couple that she tried to call them and because they didn't answer she didn't think they were coming. The second couple gets so upset they decide to leave. Then 3 guest walk from the back and leave. The manager says "My English isn't well, but we will take you now" (It's 5:10 now.) The guy at the front desk tells me to step into a room and someone will be in to give me my massage in 5 minutes. I get undressed and he yells at me through the curtain to inform him when I'm ready. I let him know that I am and HE COMES IN TO GIVE ME THE MASSAGE!!! (WTH.) I asked how could he give me a massage and handle the front desk at the same time. He says "Oh Yeah, let me check." I hear him in the other room asking guest can they come at 6:30 or 7 because they are busy. He comes back in my room and tells me let's get started I told him "NO, I will wait for a real masseuse." I waited until 6:10 (30 minutes). I remind the front desk I'm in the room and someone walks in 2 minutes later. The guy that came in was so ruff that I have a bruise on my back. I continuously told him he was too ruff, he would say sorry, lighten the pressure, and proceed again. What made it worse was he pulled my underwear down and tried to massage my but, I told him I was uncomfortable and pulled the sheet up. He pulled them down again and said he didn't want to get oil on them. At that point I was done. I am so furious about my experience. I could not relax AT ALL. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. I bought a groupon for this spa. I live 2 hours from DC but work here so occasionally book appointments. I had an 11am appointment. So did about 8 other people. There were 2 therapists in a VERY small space with about 5 tables with sheets between them - no real privacy at all. One of the other woman waiting also had an 11am appointment and a groupon special. neither of us were serviced, helped or even really apologized to. It was awful and a terrible waste of my time. The place is tiny. There are no licenses posted and it did not appear that this was a legitimate business on any level. Stay AWAY! read more

Avoid this place by all means! Unprofessional staff that does not care about the clients & gives you the feeling to talk nasty behind your back in Chinese. Except for the receptionist, who has basic English, the others hardly know a few words. My masseuse today was unable to explain to me what kind of massage she thought she performed. Some grips and moves were ok but the rest was amateurish squeezing, shoving and pushing, no real effect. The place is tiny, consists of tiny cubicles separated only by curtains, barely big enough for the masseuse to move around the table. You hear the other clients, the phone rings loudly and disturbs the quiet piano music. No proper towel, just some kind of curtain-like cloth, the massage oil has no scent. Pillow cover and knee rest did not have a fresh cover, I think. After I explained that I was not happy with the service they still had the nerve to ask me for a tip. The masseuse knew this English word, of course... No wonder this place resorts to Groupon. One should know better in advance. No more cheap massage vouchers in shady places for me, I recommend you stay away from "Best Wellnes Spa": It is neither a spa nor does it provide "best wellness"! read more

I went twice. The first time was for tuina. Although it hurt, my back and neck did feel more relaxed. It was a good value for the price. The second time I went, I made an appointment for reflexology. I don't think the guy understood even though I repeated what I wanted. The website says that they start with a foot soak with Chinese herbs. No foot soak. He had me undress and gave what was basically a hot stone massage. When I repeated that I was there for foot reflexology, he gave me a foot rub, but it was NOT reflexology. I only tipped 15% because it was not what I had asked for. He then showed me a sign saying that they require a $10.00 (20%) tip. I'm going back to Massage Spring up the street. I first came here in June 2018. They do hassle you for more tip money. I originally gave them a 10 for a living social deal and they were like, "oh, she work so hard, she so tired". Yeah, this one woman there at the time was really good but she was a peeping Jane. I am a major prude and she decided to shake out the towel after I so carefully turned around to make sure I was covered. Pervs. I almost didn't tip her fully for that but I feel for service people. The second time I came with a relative and booked for 2 and when I came they only had one person on staff who does not speak english. They have them call the owner to translate. I was pretty ticked as I really needed a massage that day. I asked my relative how the male one did and they said it was good but it sometimes hurt. Well to mediate my dissatisfaction with not being able to get my massage, the lady told me to come back for a free one hour. Well I was okay with it until I found out the male one is a perv too. If you enjoy your a** getting rubbed for 20 minutes with a giant towel over you, with constant crotch rubs, then this is the place for you. Not at all my cup of tea so will not be going back again. Fortunately, I still tipped the guy both times, more than he deserved but I felt sorry for him the first time and the second it just seemed humane. If you like really hard massages from someone who does not speak english, who prob has no certifications, who loves rubbing a** (no head or foot rubs), then this is your place. Went there recently for a one hour massage. Place was super quiet, no one else there. I guess they recently opened. They have semi private rooms in the back and a bunch of tables for for massages up front. I had Judy as my masseuse. Massage was good but a bit too soft for me. I will ask for stronger next time - she did ask what I wanted and I said medium. They have a good deal if you buy 5 massages. Quite cheap. read more
