**Quality Inn - Albemarle, NC (Hwy 24/27 Bypass)** I needed a one-night stay for work, and among the hotels and motels in the area, this property had one of the higher ratings available. Despite the name, this is very much a traditional roadside motel: exterior-facing doors, separate buildings, no interior hallways. The positives first. There is plenty of parking, the parking lot is clean and well lit, and the exterior areas were maintained. Check-in was done at the front desk (no app-based check-in), and the staff member was polite and professional. My room overall was clean enough to function for a short stay, and the bed and linens were clean. That said, there were several **serious and egregious issues** that cannot be overlooked. My room was in a back building, set away from the office and surrounded by woods, which felt isolated. Once inside, it became clear that while surface-level cleaning had been done, **basic safety checks and deeper cleaning were missed entirely**. The most concerning issue: **the smoke detector was completely detached from the ceiling**, with the wires hanging out. When I later opened the top drawer of the chest under the TV, I found the smoke detector itself sitting inside the drawer--along with a pack of crackers and someone else's body spray. This clearly indicates the room was not properly inspected or cleaned after the previous guest and represents a serious safety failure. Other issues included: * **Visible growth inside the refrigerator**, particularly on the top shelf of the door * A **dirty, stained plastic tray** holding the ice bucket and cups * **Silly string residue hanging on the wall and door frame above the main entrance door** * A **large crack running all the way across the sink** * A **wide gap at the entrance door near the lock**, allowing cold air to blow directly into the room * Debris and trash behind doors and in corners, showing lack of thorough cleaning * Dated, worn bathroom fixtures and visible signs of past water damage in the ceiling The room layout itself was functional, with decent lighting at the sink and several power outlets and USB ports, but it looked like items had been removed over time and never replaced. Breakfast the next morning was very basic. There was a make-your-own waffle station, scrambled eggs sitting in an **uncovered** chafing dish that appeared dry, bread and bagels with a toaster, yogurt, some cereal options, and coffee from an automatic concentrate-based machine. It was minimal and nothing more than a basic continental offering. At checkout, the front desk employee was extremely friendly and asked about my stay. I specifically mentioned the smoke detector and some of the other major concerns. He apologized and explained that the property had **recently changed ownership** and that they are working to get things corrected. I appreciate the honesty and professionalism of the staff, and I do want to give new management the benefit of the doubt. However, safety issues like a disconnected smoke detector, sanitation issues like refrigerator growth, and obvious signs of poor room inspection should never reach a paying guest--regardless of ownership transition. This property **can work for a short, one-night stay**, especially given the clean parking lot, decent lighting, clean bed, and friendly staff. But there are clear and serious quality-control, maintenance, and safety issues that must be addressed. So... it's... okay. Things seemed clean. I can't speak on breakfast because they were just doing grab and go bags during COVID. But... this hotel is TIRED (see my pictures of the bathroom) and honestly the bedding was really scratchy and uncomfortable (low thread count?). I would stay here again if I needed to but it did not hold up to the usual Best Western budget friendly luxury and comfort. read more

I've been staying in this hotel for the past 8 or 9 years two or three times a year to visit family in the area. I have noticed the deterioration of this hotel in the past couple of years. This year, I was hesitant to stay here again; however, this hotel is the closest decent hotel to our family. Also, I want to support the community. Tonight will be our last night staying here ever again. The bathroom of the first room was not cleaned: hair from the previous guest was all over the floor and bath wall and ceiling was moldy. We were just going to suck it up and stay through the last day and not say anything about the cleanliness. This morning roaches were crawling on our food and my husband decided to ask for a different room. We switched rooms and it was another disappointment. We got a room that was heavy on air freshener. I had a suspicion that the air freshener was on purpose to mask something else. Well as it turns out it was to mask the smokey smell. Someone had smoked in this room. But, I noticed that a bit too late. It was about 10pm when we got back to the room and I removed the wall air freshener and that's when I noticed the smoke smell. I Should have known better when the room smelled strong with air freshener. I can't sleep from the smell; therefore, writing this review. I feel a little bitter that we might have been given this smelly room because we complained about the first one. I am more angry at myself for not trusting my instinct. I am glad tonight is the last night here; i can catch up on my sleep when i get home. Good luck to those who decides to stay here. read more

Stayed here for a short trip to North Carolina. I was very pleased. The pictures on YELP are right on point. The hotel was clean and safe. The manager Connie Goins was EXTREMELY Hospitable. Ms. Connie exemplified exactly what customer service is all about. I will stay here every time I return to Albemarle. The hotel has a Pool, Gym, Breakfast and all day complimentary coffee, tea and lemon water. read more

Not that best western is known for being top quality but, This place is falling apart and is in serious need of upgrades. Over priced and has safety concerns. Main concern of mine was the back door was a swinging door with no lock or security measure. Anyone could walk in. Also, parking was super limited. Came back after dinner and it was full. Also, the door to room is really hard to open, felt myself having to muscle it open beyond practicality. Also the room had damage all over it. Would not recommend. Front desk seemed to disregard wearing masks as well. read more

Best experience in every way. We got rained out at our campsite. Tent was flooded. So at 3:00 am we arrived at this "Best" Best Western. We were greeted warmly. We came with 2 wet adults and 4 drenched kids and were provided extra towels, warms blankets and a very clean modern room. Ahhhh. Naturally we didn't wake up until 9:45 and quickly ran to get breakfast. The kids didn't move. A much nicer continental breakfast than I've ever had. Again we were warming greeted even though breakfast was pretty much over And then there was Angela. She was such a sweet, sweet lady. She offered to make us fresh everything! Out came fresh biscuits, sausage, eggs, mini muffins, bread, English muffins. They also have a waffle maker which may have been better than the one we have at home. As we left, there was Angela, mopping the floor like it was her own home. She was again so warm and thanked us for staying and encouraged us to come back. BEST Best Western. read more

*lengthy review* Let me start by saying if I could give this place 0 stars I would. This place is disgusting and management is racist. My family and I checked in around 12am on a Friday in October 2021 and when we got to our separate rooms within 10 minutes we were greeted by roaches and bed bugs. We quickly exited the room and went to let Beth at reception know who stated "they just sprayed for bugs on Thursday so I'm not sure how you guys are seeing anything in your rooms" like ???? We clearly no longer wanted to sleep there and she stated she could not give us a refund and would have to call her general manager. She asked us 5 times if we were sure as she didn't want to wake the manager up and inconvenience her (as if us being in a room with roaches and bed bugs didn't inconvenience us) we told her yes please call the manager as something needs to be done. She calls the manager who said "oh well I'll be in at 6am". We decided to sit in the lobby for the night due to all other hotels in the area being booked and it being now 1am. Fast forward to about 3am my aunt who was in a separate room (this is now room #3) ran out into the lobby saying a bed bug was crawling on her in her sleep and she was able to take pictures and video of it. She showed Beth who still was not believing it. So now at this point we're furious, like were these rooms ever cleaned? Because it's not making any sense. So now the lobby is becoming full with patrons who are are not comfortable enough to sleep on these beds in these rooms so we are all waiting on management. Melissa G the manager finally rolls in at around 6:30 am, walks in sees us all in the lobby and says absolutely nothing. We are thinking maybe she's putting her bags down and clocking in so let's give her some time. About 20 minutes pass still not a word, so my uncle approaches the desk saying "Good morning, you are the manager Melissa correct? I'm sure you have heard about the issue we are having." Melissa respond "yeah I heard" and continues what she was doing. He then asks "are you going to handle the situation" she states "there is no situation." He walks away and now we're all confused. We then hear her whisper under her breath to Beth "these blacks think they are going to get away with something, but not today." ??????? After hearing that we just wanted to get out refunds and go because that was very unnecessary and uncalled for. We were being very polite and waited for her to arrive with no issue all for her to bring race into it for no reason. We were not asking for our money back and she said I'm not refunding you, we clearly get upset now and she calls the police. LOL. The police come we explain the situation and even show them the photos and videos and they were clearly on our side. They even recommended us to some cleaner hotels that were not too far from the area. She asked them multiple times to escort us off the property and they said "yes as soon as we see you process their refunds we will make sure they are off your property." We have to wait a couple days to get our refunds back from the bank but I will NEVER stay at this establishment again. read more

This is one of my favorite properties to stay at! So much that even though my business meetings are normally in Charlotte, I will still stay at this property! The staff are so hospitable and were made for this business! They know me by name and are always willing to go above and beyond to ensure my stay is fabulous! I would definitely recommend staying here - it's worth the drive from Charlotte and you will not regret it! read more

I'll be honest- I wasn't expecting much of a Best Western in fairly small-town NC. But this location exceeded my expectations hugely. The room was of a good size, clean, and had a late refrigerator and microwave. Service was prompt and the staff was incredibly helpful. The only things that weren't great in the room were that my hairdryer was broken (I was brought a new one) and that the shampoo/conditioner available was All-In-One, which I hate. The fitness center was small and aging but serviceable. I particularly enjoyed the weight machine they have available. Breakfast in the morning was fantastic- I was spoiled for choice. They got bonus points for having more yogurt choices beyond strawberry and peach, given as I'm allergic to the former and can't stand the latter. All in all, a good experience and I would return. read more

*DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL* Unbelievably awful customer service. I am a birth worker and had my husband book a room for me after having worked a very long shift. 2 hours later, I received information beyond my control that would require me to continue working. My husband immediately called the hotel back and spoke with Connie to cancel and we were told we would not be receiving a refund because we didn't cancel within 24 hours. They could not explain how their policy applied to our situation considering we didn't even book the room within a 24 hour period. My husband was clearly frustrated but still maintained a professional composure. Connie HUNG UP ON MY HUSBAND. I called back and requested to speak with her and she told me "I don't have time to deal with you". I then spoke to the assistant manager who continued to interrupt me as I was speaking, and again couldn't explain why their policy applied to our situation. I kept asking how I was supposed to be able to cancel within 24 hours if I didn't even book within 24 hours and he just said "well that's our policy". He was rude, condescending, and offered NO reconciliation whatsoever. He told me to call Best Western and refused to provide a phone number for me to call. We were clearly frustrated customers and this hotel staff handled our situation VERY poorly. We were met with increasing hostility and disrespect. We will be taking this further with Best Western. Do not waste your time on this crappy hotel. There are plenty of others in the area WHO VALUE THEIR CUSTOMERS. read more
