Reasonable rates and the ladies are very nice on the phone and in the office. They made me sign a waver on line when I made the reservation and I get that, these days business ought to protect themselves from possible 1 800 attorneys wishing to make a quick buck. At check in I went into the office wearing a mask and neither lady was wearing one until the guy that came in right after me entered the office wearing one too. Employees should wear one to protect customers. You are protecting yourselves from customers but are not protecting the very people that gave you the much needed revenue, just a little detail. Very nice gravel but my site was not level and I am talking about one side lower than the other, not front and back but I was able to fix that. Didn't have a problem with noise, the road does not have heavy traffic anyway. Overall well organized with mowing lawn and dumpster. We just camped here for a long weekend. I do not recommend or intend on returning. This place advertises a large blow up water slide that was closed the whole time we were there with the exception of 2 hours, when a volunteer manned it so his own kids could use it. When his shift was done, it never opened up again all weekend. The change machine in the arcade was broken, but because they are cashless there was no way to get coins for my grandkids to play games. Bingo that was scheduled for 6pm started late because the volunteer came to set it up at 6. The next day we purchased the sand for gem mining and had to wait over 20 minutes for a volunteer to fill the water tank so it would work. My husband said the men's bathrooms were grossly dirty. Positives: The small pool was nice, the grandchildren had fun there. The bounce pad was too hot during the day but was fun for them also. Sites are grassy and had WiFi since there was no cell service there. The volunteers were nice. Even though bingo started late, it did end up being fun. read more

Lovely place - they are adding cabins. Also adding a price hike . This trip - we invited friends and booked sites next to one another. Well there's a possibility we will not be back. Rate hikes are ridiculous- we hoped to come back on Halloween. Two days before we were leaving - group with us checked site. Price was cheaper - next evening they hiked it up to 77.74 per night . Lock in site is outrageous as well. 35.00. What the heck. So no discounts are offered, and lock in site has went up like crazy. We noticed it wasn't as packed as is used to be - guess prices will not allow regular folks to come stay with their kids. Anyway it is a nice place- but rates going up and up may be an issue. We love ms. Rae and her husband and Diane is pretty cool. Hope to see them at some point read more

First time visitors, but surely not the last time. We stayed Thursday through Sunday at site 106. The campground is clean and the area we stayed in, the sites were well spaced (lots of nature). We had an entrance to a walking trail right at our site - great to take the dog for a walk and frolic in the river. The bathhouse is VERY clean and the showers on the women's side have a seat in the shower and an adjustable shower head. The dump station is clean and easy to get to. We did not take part in a lot of the activities, but we saw several things sure to entertain kids and adults. And there is a dog park with lots of fun for Fido. If you need a place to stay in the Asheboro area, Zooland Family Campground is the place! (About a 15 minute ride from the zoo). read more

Went here for two weeks with my husband and kiddos, the place is so big and many trails to find and walk thru kids loved it and wanted to stay longer. The staff was friendly bathrooms clean and showers. They have laundry very convenient clean and affordable. Their in camp store has many nice gadgets for campfire, snacks, sodas, candy and first aide needs to cleaning products. Over all I give it a 10 star no lie hands down the best family campground I been to ever !!! Owner was friendly and we will be coming to visit again for sure read more

We booked sites with friends over a year ago and secured our spots together. It's a wonderful campground with lots of planned activities for kids and families. Many were free, and any that had a fee were very reasonably priced. The bathhouses were the cleanest I've seen and the showers and laundry facilities were great! Everyone was very friendly! It was a great experience and we can't wait to come again - hopefully the weather will cooperate! read more

It was amazing everyone was nice they have 2 pools 1 pool for kids and the second one is for 3ft and higher and then it has a jump place where you can jump all you want but it's a little dangerous and it can be very hot if it's sunny and there is an arcade and there kinda like a gift shop where you can buy things and you can buy drinks and ice cream stuff if you like to talk go to the pool everyone talks and everyone is nice PS it is 5 minuets away from the county prison read more

This was our first visit to Zooland and we've already made reservation foe two more trips. The staff were extremely nice as were other campers. Lots of activities for kids and dog friendly regardless the breed. They have a fishing pond and very close to the Unharrie River for Kayaking. We highly recommend it! read more

Horrible experience from the moment we arrived; primarily due to the staff. We were excited to stay here for the long weekend due to the Bluegrass Festival and figured the reviews about their behavior towards pets must have been unique situations. Not the case! After checking in and pulling into our spot, we started our normal routine. I started setting up while my wife got the dogs (professionally trained-well behaved) out of the truck to relieve themselves from the last couple hours drive. With them on leashes, in our spot, they did just that. My wife immediately cleaned up the product, but apparently the golf-cart super sleuth spotted our dogs doing their business. The driver of the cart and the over attentive passenger quickly drove from one side of our RV to the other to rudely lecture my wife on their policy for charging tenants if they have to clean up dog droppings; despite it already having been cleaned up in the time it took them to go from one side to the other (-2 minutes). This is not the welcome you would expect before the stabilizers have even hit the ground! In addition to the horrible welcome, the sites are way to small. If not careful, slide outs will hit the neighbors slide outs and you can hear the neighbors normal-level conversations. The bluegrass festival was great, but let's be honest...that was due to the performers and the guest. read more

Wonderful campground and people! Their on-line process to book and check-in is so seamless. They were an amazing respite while travelling South and we were able to book, check-in get a good night's sleep and clean shower in the morning. An ok resort for fall/winter camping. We will probably won't go back in the summer as we weren't that impressed. Our campsites were too close to the main road and it was BUSY and LOUD even during the middle of the night. Try to get a campsite away from the road, you will sleep better. The mini golf course has seen better days, but the little playground was nice for the kids. We never knew if the game room was open or not. The campsites got very muddy in the rain, but we have gotten a lot of it so maybe that's not a fair assessment of how they are normally. Oh and it's not close to the zoo at all. But, all in all a decent place to spend a few days. read more

We had reservations to go to this Campground this weekend. We found out last night that they were calling for 1/2 inch of ice this weekend. My husband called to see if we could move our reservation a week or 2 out because we did not feel comfortable driving our motorhome in the ice. The lady at the front desk read their cancellation guide to us and refused to help in anyway. We lost our complete deposit - which was amount of camping for the weekend - in full with no offer to help. NO customer service. Should have a contingency plan in place for customers in case of bad weather- especially when you have to pay for the whole trip in advance. Very disappointed in the lack of customer care from this business. Will not be going back. read more

Been camping here at Zooland for nearly 10 years. We've scheduled Every holiday with other friends and family members who also camp. The new owner is making efforts of upgrading things at the campground but he himself is very unsociable and quiet. The rules change frequently and the staff turned into police. The full hook up sites (cramped) are up top and are smaller and less private than the sites at the bottom which only have water and electric. So if you do stay down bottom you sacrifice sewer but have a larger grassier site BUT WHEN LEAVING OUT (especially on a busy holiday weekend)of course you have to dump the sewer and with only 1 dump site to do so it can take up to 2 hours depending on the line. It's a Very inconvenient system they have. Memorial weekend it took 2 hours of waiting. Today it took my dad 1 1/2 hours We were regular customers that really enjoyed the place but we're gonna seek out other places. read more

The road in from Hwy 220 is narrow and rough in places so be careful. Watch for the propane gas sign to see the entrance to the park. The staff that checked us in was very friendly and helpful. The camp has over 140 sites, a mix of campers, RV's and tents. There are a number of seasonal residents, but most are well kept. Some of the roads in the park are pot holed and bumpy. Sites are gravel and grass and not very level, we were in site 12. They include a picnic table and a fire ring. We had full hook-ups with 50 amp and good water pressure. There is no WiFi. Our Verizon MiFi worked well. There is plenty to do - a pool, putt-putt, trampoline, basketball, game room, catch and release pond, and trails. The store is stocked with basic needs and gifts. The laundry room was okay. Did not use the bathrooms. We paid $29.00 a night with a combination of Good Sam and Passport America discounts. You are about 15 minutes from the North Carolina Zoo. read more

Zooland was great. We will definitely come again. Lots of things for a 3 year old to do. Bouncy mat thing, basketball goals, game room, pond, grassy areas for football. Bathhouse was clean. Diane, the owner, is super nice, and her puppy Roxie is precious. read more
