I would look at a different hotel somewhere else. The room was nice and we had no problems with our room, his small mini fridge in the room with the coffee maker was decent for storing our food purchased at the local grocery store. it's weird because during the week they use nice plastic plates when serving breakfast but switched over to paper plates and Styrofoam on the weekends. They're also wasn't very good quality food on the weekend like there was on the Friday that we were there. It was a complete 180 on the breakfast offerings on the weekend versus the weekdays. we were a little bummed. The pool wasn't heated, and there was no hot tub to kick back and relax and enjoy my time there. However, the shower in the pool area was warm enough to have visions and thoughts of a nice hot tub in the pool area. I didn't really have much of a problem at this hotel, other than everything was very lackluster. We didn't stay in the room very long and only were there to sleep at night. However, on our last day. One of the staff here came out of the back room in the from desk area wearing an Arabic/Islamic Ha-jib. My PTSD immediately kicked in from my time I served over an Iraq and the experience was very triggering for me. I briefly feared for my life without my AR-16 in my hands. It was probably a good thing the experience happened at the last part of our visit during checkout because I was always looking over my shoulder from there on out. Overall, if you're working at the hospital across the way, it's a perfect place to stay. Otherwise it's kind of mediocre best for the price you pay you better off staying somewhere else they don't even have a Jacuzzi at this location. Find something better... unless it's just a place to lay your head!

My husband booked Tusken House #1 for several days when he couldn't find anything else in the area. There is a reason this was the only room left in town. We arrived after 11 PM as we took our time coming up and stopped at various towns along our trip from Illinois. The door was unlocked (as expected), all the lights were on, and our last name was written on the white board. I really didn't like that part due to safety. Nobody needs to know our last name and what is there to stop anyone from the street who knows the operations from entering and taking one of the two keys left inside? The "cottage room" had the smallest bathroom ever, right off the kitchen. There is no way two people can get ready at the same time. The curtains were wide open and were a complete joke. They were sheer, so everyone could see in while the lights were on. Not so much a big deal until we needed to get changed for bed, or dressed in the morning. The only two places to do that with privacy were the large closet, which was bigger than the bathroom, and the miniature bathroom, that is so small my 6th grader even had to dress in the shower. The main room had a chair that was filthy and it had a stain left from someone who needed a shower who instead sat on it naked. I'd leave it to your imagination, but I took pictures to post as proof. The futon was in worse condition than the one I had in my college days, but the main room was the only room with a window A/C unit and a ceiling fan, so that's where I slept. While some rooms on the website show ceiling fans above the beds, this is purposefully cropped because the bedroom was beyond stuffy on a hot, sticky summer night. My husband slept in one bed and my son in the other. They slept with the door open in hopes of getting the air to circulate into the bedroom, but it wasn't a large enough window unit for two rooms. Additionally, because this is an old house, the electricity should have been updated. Instead, there were multiple extension cords for the window unit and lamps. In the bedroom there even more extension cords for the lamps and clock, and no place to plug in a charger. It amazes me that this place hasn't had an electrical fire. It was actually quite worrisome. The kitchen had a coffee machine and I finally found coffee in the cabinet, but there were no coffee mugs. The toiletries included body soap and shampoo. No conditioner. They said they don't supply conditioner. What? I found that our when we had to call for a hair dryer that didn't exist either. The reviews all over the internet about this place rave about the pool. Well, the sold the pool last year. They conveniently did NOT mention this when my husband booked the room. The back of the house is gated off and locked with do not trespass signs posted everywhere. There was no mention of the pool in the note left on the desk by the keys, yet there is still a picture of the pool hanging in the main office behind the desk where we took the keys when we checked out first thing in the morning. The parking for this house had three spots as there are three different rental spaces. The people in the second unit had a very large pick up truck that was not parked in the center of their space and our spot mark for unit 1, has the back of the a/C unit in the way, in addition to needing to drive over the grass to get into a spot. It was useless. Thankfully there was plenty of street parking across the street. No car could have parked there with the window air conditioner in the way, not even a smaller compact car. Thankfully they found someone else to book the room so we weren't changed two more nights. We would have had the credit card company disputed it if they had. This was that bad. They are clearly hurting for money, selling the pool and several of the properties had for sale signs in front of them. We were lucky enough to find another room at the newly renovated hotel at a neighboring town. Same price with all the luxuries of a nice hotel and everything was brand new and super clean, plus a coffee shop in the lobby. This is by far the longest and most detailed review I've ever posted. All the reasons why are posted. If they aren't there, I've blocked them out. Don't make the same mistake we did.

Our granddaughter is in early pool swimming / safety classes and having an indoor pool was top of our list this time to experience the excitement of her pool time. The hotel is clean and well designed. We were not the only family staying her as it was also the pick of several families for travel baseball (about avg age of 8 years). The staff here is friendly and very welcoming. They work hard to make the customer not just feel welcomed, but in creating a sense of warmth. The rooms are suites and worked well while I was able to get some work in at the room desk while the husband slept. I went down to grab breakfast for us. Eggs, sausage, and biscuits and gravy as well as some yogurt. They also offer cereal and waffles and of course juice and coffee along with toast, bagels and some fruit (bananas and apples). It was simple yet hit the spot. The bed is comfortable and they provide extra blanket (light Comforter) that was perfect to cozy up under. I think my favorite feature is the outside fire pit in the evening. We grabbed a drink, sat by the fire and relaxed together into our evening. We will be back. Great atmosphere for the price.

Normally there's a little welcome for gold members - a bottle of water, a snack, a recognition - but not here. I did notice a cart full of little gift bags, but didn't ask. I requested for daily service of my room. Upon my return back to my room the first night it was not serviced. I went to the front desk and asked for help. They told me that housekeeping had left for the day. I requested coffee and towels be delivered and then left for dinner. When I got back to my room I saw the towels on the sofa and assumed everything was fine. The next morning I found 4 pods of decaf coffee had been left - no cup to brew it in, no condiments, essentially - no coffee. While at the desk I also asked for ideas for dinner that would be local and not chain food. Both agents were unable to offer much of anything - one said she had kids and eats McDonalds. Another guest told me of a few options. Then one agent went to the back and came back with a list of someone's favorites that was like 40 listings. I could use Yelp! or some other online tool, but I regularly count on the front desk to get a real idea of local food options from someone who really knows. They were just unprepared here. I went down to the pantry to grab a snack. Almost every shelf was empty. There were like 2 rice krispy treats on the whole wall. I felt like the place was closing up. The breakfast had the standard offerings, but somehow they were able to make it unappealing. The plate of cheese and meat had 3 pieces of cheese and 3 pieces of ham - all dried out and crunchy on the edges no one replenishing - so no biscuits and no bacon. The hard boiled eggs were never rinsed off and tasted like plastic. Could have asked for something if I ever saw someone, but didn't. The last thing was on my way out when there was a sign and a bell to ring for assistance. It's just not what is expected anymore. I don't remember the last time I walked in a hotel (before this) and didn't have an agent at the desk. When I return to Grand Rapids for work again, I won't be staying at this property.
