Staff was very friendly and nice. The location is excellent with gorgeous views of the lake and surrounding areas. The cottage we had was a two bedroom (Housman upper) was very large with two bedrooms, two bathrooms a sitting room little kitchen. It's located perfectly for a view of the wedding venue not by the lake. Easy walk over to the main office and hotel and the breakfast that was included every morning. While taking a road trip across the Midwest, I accidentally discovered this little gem. We were initially looking to book a hotel in Kalamazoo, but this hotel was on the water and had excellent reviews. We booked it, and we didn't regret it. Because we stayed during the off season, we received a great rate on the King suite room overlooking Gun Lake and the river. The room had a balcony, fireplace, and jacuzzi. The service was friendly and helpful. Continental breakfast was included. We also ate at the restaurant and enjoyed the cuisine and live music. We hope to come back in the summer because we heard it is a lot of fun with more live music and lots to do on the lake. read more

Was in the area and found this hotel. We arrived late and the person behind the counter welcomed us to the inn. After checking in, she informed us that the bar and restaurant were closing in 30 minutes. We dropped our stuff at the room and headed down to the bar. We got our drinks and sat outside by the fire over looking the lake. The room was great and we both had a great nights sleep. Bay pointe inn is a great place to vacation. Customer service was excellent and It is set up so that you don't have to leave the campus, which is really convenient. The rooms were very nice and it's worth it to pay extra to have the lake view. You can rent a pontoon boat and board it right on the dock out front. They will even pack a cooler with drinks and snacks for you (for a little extra). We also enjoyed spending time by the community fire pit at night, the employees even lit it for us. The terrace grill restaurant offers free breakfast for guests (pretty standard hotel breakfast but they did have a homemade quiche) and we ate there for dinner as well. I noticed an indoor pool and conference room on the first floor but we did not use it during our stay. There was also a nice area by the lake where I assume they hold weddings. read more

No. This place is an over charge and crowded with people that don't know how or don't want to do their jobs. While attending a 50 person wedding there was a security detail of 4 people. To protect us from others right, as it was our party that paid to use the facilities. Nooo, they were there to harass and intimidate us all night. Literally sitting on and blocking one of the two sets of stairs down to the venue and act like tough guys... Very weird. At some point in the night my grandmother and I were at her car to take her medicine and the security on detail rushed over to us and started yelling about "drugs on the premises" and threatened to call the police on her... she was smoking some legal marijuana for her sever macular degeneration. When trying to explain to the screaming child who was the security person we were ignored and threatened. My brother, who's wedding it was l, actually decided he didn't need to TIP because of the poor behavior of the staff and the combination of the security detail infringing on our rights All in all, we will not be giving any of our families money to this place and hope you consider taking your business elsewhere where, somewhere where you will be appreciated and not targeted. read more

We enjoyed sitting on our balcony listening to the band playing below for Live on Gun Lake -- beautiful view! Staff was friendly, rooms were clean. Skip this place. Have you ever been to place with a special location and or a special view so the crowd come easy to the restaurant ... then the food is terrible and you realize the view is the only reason they are not closed down? Well this is one of those places. Our server was incredible the location was convenient and the cocktails were fast (but average). After that it was all down hill. A party of 8 with all different entrees was left completely dissatisfied. The bartender does not know what goes in a drink and doesn't ask just winged it. My fiancée and I wanted to tour Bay Pointe Woods for our wedding venue and had made dinner reservations and booked a room for the night at the Inn to make a date night out of it. We were so excited about this venue and had our hearts set on getting married there, however, we wanted an indoor wedding in the middle of October. We were told that due to lack of staff during that month, they would not be able to accommodate us and flip the space, we would have no choice but to get married outside and have the reception inside. We were told that we would have to change our date to November in order to be eligible to have the wedding completely inside and have them flip the space for us. We expressed how we have elderly family members who would be in attendance and would not be comfortable outside or even ambulating on the grass where the chairs would be lined up. As a couple getting married in Michigan, weather can be extremely unpredictable, especially in October. It was extremely disheartening and just not feasible to have our wedding there when we are planning on spending $30,000+ on our special day and be told that we can't have exceptions made to allow us to have our dream wedding. After going back and forth with the tour guide about any possible way that we could make our dream October wedding work, she recommended a different venue/business in Grand Rapids, which was just mind blowing to us and unprofessional to essentially sell a different business. Our dinner reservation was great, the food and service was delicious. The restaurant was clean and modern. I had the salmon and my fiancée had filet. We were both very impressed with the cook, flavor, and presentation of our entrees. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. The room was very cute and also very clean! We had a great view of the water. However, bring your own pillow! There were about 6 or 7 very large pillows that were so firm. My fiancée and I both did not sleep well at all due to how uncomfortable the pillows were. We had texted the front desk (their preferred method of communication) about this issue and they never responded. The faucet in the shower was also broken. They had a decent sized pool and hot tub, but if you're looking for a gym, they only had a BowFlex treadmill and BowFlex bike and 2 1.5lb weights. Overall, we were not thrilled with the experience here. Go enjoy dinner, but save your money on the hotel and consider having your wedding elsewhere. read more

We stayed in one of the villas in The Woods at Bay Pointe and it was the most amazing, perfect winter getaway. These villas are walking distance to the Inn, where you can walk by the lake, soak in the hot tub, or get a workout in in the gym. However, they are also nice and private. Takeout from The Terrace Grille was excellent, made exactly to order, including cocktails. The continental breakfast at the grille was very good, had everything you'd want in a continental breakfast. The rooms themselves were spotless, by far the cleanest rooms I've ever stayed in in a hotel. They had everything you need in the kitchenette- coffee mugs, a keurig, perfect sized mini fridge, sink and microwave. The bathrooms were beautiful and large, with plenty of mirror, sink and counter space. The sitting area had beautiful furniture, nice smart TV, and was very cozy with a large window and a gas fireplace. The beds were very comfortable, linens were very nice, and I loved that they had a large variety of pillow types on the beds. Each bedroom also had a smart TV. There is a gas fire pit in the common area outside the villas, and there are also chairs to sit on your own private deck as well. I cannot recommend this stay enough. We will absolutely be back. If you are on the fence, I promise you won't be disappointed choosing this gem of a place for your next getaway. read more

My family and I came to Bay Pointe as a location we could all be together during the unfortunate passing of a family member. Upon arriving, the patio was torn up and loud construction was going on during the day. I spoke to Benjamin, the manager, regarding our disappointment. He gave us many options to resolve the problem, ultimately upgrading us to a cottage in the Bay Pointe Woods and discounting the price of our stay. Benjamin saved the weekend, giving us a location where we could all meet and be together during this difficult time. What could have been a disaster turned out to be a great weekend. Such a terrible experience. The food was absolutely bland, fish taco shells were cold and tasted stale, shells completely fell apart with one bite and didn't even finish. The tuna ahi arrived stone cold and lacked flavor. We expected there to be live music as the concert by the lake advertised but our $5 cover charge didn't even get us to hear any music at all. I was very excited to spend a weekend here but it didn't pan out well for me. First they do no have luggage service. They do have carts but you are own your own there. Walking up to the check in counter nobody acknowledged me for over 5 minutes. Talk about customer service. What drove me here was the reviews they post in their website. With all due respect I'll have to disagree. The hotel overall is older. If you get a lake view it's pretty cool. The negatives...no king size beds. The beds appear to be older and not comfortable at all. I had lights flickering in my room, a dirty toilet and sink. The walls are super thin so you can hear everything. Coming back to the room for a good nights rest you encounter loud boom boom music from the parties out by the lake and to rowdy neighbors left and right. I've tried multiple times to call the front desk to complain and each time it just rang and rang and rang. No one ever picked up. Not a surprise given the service I got or didn't get as I step foot into the property. Lastly, food is non existent. They do have a cafe but that doesn't open to 4pm. Given my weekend experience here they earned a 2 Star rating in my book and that's generous of me. read more

I went to a wedding here and things started off well but went downhill quickly. Loved the cookies and snacks available to the guests. I asked for some assistance to show me where the wedding was and was told it had been pushed back 15 minutes due to the rain. It hadn't. I was late to the ceremony and horribly embarrassed. Also, there's very little signage to help you find your way to various parts of the wedding. I asked the woman at the desk for directions and several guests and I were lost wandering the grounds due to not getting much help or a map. The rooms were pretty bare bones and the beds were fine but not too comfortable. There were also tons of dead bugs on the windowsill by the disappointing brunch. We had a lovely time at the wedding but I would caution anyone on using this facility. The views are beautiful but for $130 a night it was a complete ripoff. read more

Hubby and I came in with a night in the Lakeside Deluxe Suite. We had no idea what to expect, but we loved our room! It was on the corner and we had the balcony above the restaurant. It was a gloomy day so it wasn't loud outside, and we were able sit on our balcony while it was raining and just hang out. My husband is in love with the fireplace and we had it on until we went to bed. I loved being able to sleep with the screen door open and hearing the lake sounds. We didn't shower or use the jacuzzi tub. Also didn't use the Pool, hot tub or fitness facility. We initially couldn't figure out the lights. Almost called downstairs but we flipped every lightswitch and figured it out. The TV had a horrible picture. I'm from the city so I don't know if it's a hardware problem or just a bad location. It was SO humid on the Third floor. Loved the chairs and table on the balcony. We stayed outside until we couldn't read the playing cards and even when we stepped outside for a cigarette, we weren't getting wet from the rain. The front desk staff was so friendly and very helpful. Breakfast in the morning was really good & there was a nice variety. Zapp's chips in the vending machines was a great surprise. Cookies in the lobby when we checked in.... Awesome! Water in the fridge was a fantastic touch. I don't know how much it costs on a Friday evening in early May as we received this as a gift, but it was an amazing night and I hope we can return for the weekend sometime! read more

We had our wedding here and it was the best weekend of my life! We rented out both the Boathouse Villa and the Pavilion. We used the Villa for the rehearsal dinner and housing for the bridal party, and then used The Pavilion for our reception and the lawn for the ceremony. Our day of coordinator, Jamie, was freaking fantastic. The staff was so helpful and engaged during the entire process. This hidden gem on Gun Lake gave us the up north feel we were looking for. I wish I could re live this day at this venue! I'd recommend it to anyone and everyone!!! read more

Do not stay here if you are looking for clean rooms or a courteous staff! We stayed here last summer, and it was anything but "upscale", which is how they like to present themselves online. The carpet, which they later admitted was over 13 years old, was filthy. They wouldn't switch our room. The crib they provided for our daughter had no mattress. We politely expressed our dissatisfaction, and asked to cancel the third night of our stay, only to be told that we would still be charged. We chose to leave anyway rather than have our daughter sleep with no mattress. The staff was completely rude. The kicker? We were charged for all three nights for the crib! The owner (we didn't initially know he was the owner) pretended that there was nothing he could do for us but "speak to the manager". As a side note, the restaurant was average, and there is very little to do in the area. There is no beach onsite. read more

Its not as bad as i yave worked it worst but for it being classy place, I think not only place i would eat at is the woods. newest place and actually kept well clean. TG AND BH kitchens need redone and until that happens I wouldn't want to eat from them. So unwell taken care of, as well and no one cleans after a long night. If it foes its forced by dishwashers. Cooks mostly sit ariund i havent seen as many cooks just on there phone watching movies Half the time they forget about there food and burns on the bottom. Tg and BH are such old kitchens need redone. Cant recall last time they even deep cleaned those kitchens. This is a Beautiful hotel with an exceptional venue for weddings/events. However, when you are going to charge TOP dollar for everything, the service should match! Most of the hotel staff is friendly, but definitely not all of them were. After spending an entire weekend there for a wedding, I would say the food was OK, but not that great. We could have had alot more cooperation with the staff at times when it came to helping get things ready for the wedding. To start off, they were supposed to have tables set up by 9 for the florist, but did not, which left all of the floral arrangement up to us to do as the florist had another event to attend. The bartenders were quite rude to us and the guests. I know there are rules, but seriously, we don't need them thrown in our faces all the time! This event was very expensive, and every time you turned around you were getting yelled at by staff. To top it off, when it came time to clean up, something very important got thrown away, and cannot be replaced. We were under the impression that we had an event coordinator that would have been more present- but if we had a problem we had to basically run around to find her for help. One other thing, is when there is a wedding going on; they should NOT allow guests to be on the docks or starting up boats, etc. It's only a short time, and the roaring of engines is not the best in the background, or the people yelling and laughing getting off their pontoons while drunk. Not cool. So, all in all, think twice before you book your event here, unless you are up to the task of doing alot without support from the hotel, and paying through the nose for all of it! My husband and I were in town visiting my parents and we stopped here to have a drink. We requested to sit outside, there were plenty of open tables. Once seated we sat there for close to 20 minutes and not one staff member acknowledged us, said hello to us...nothing. The bus boy walked by our table several times and nothing. My husband ended up going inside to order our cocktails, paid for them and brought them outside. Even after we got our drinks no one stopped by to ask if we needed anything, no one brought us water or even asked if we wanted food. We had a wedding here two weekends ago. Very nice place. The food was delicious, the drinks were made strong, and the house that we stayed in was absolutely beautiful. My biggest complaint was that there was also a wedding right next door to us and we could not only hear their loud, bumping music, but also smell the weed they were smoking. Yuck. I'm not sure how this venue could fix this, but it needs to be done, as there were many guests complaining that night. Overall, a very nice place though. read more

I was given one as a gift, and even though I tried to schedule within the stated timeline, they told me they had completely run out of rooms for weekends. Who goes to a B and B during the middle of the week? I tried to negotiate a little and see if they would let us book later, or pay for the difference between a standard room and an upgraded one, but they absolutely refused. I had to call several times, and after leaving many messages for the manager they never called me back. The customer service is terrible. I understand that it's easy to oversell your product, but when people have prepaid for something you should at least be willing to compromise with them. I'm requesting a refund from Groupon, and would never recommend this place to anyone. read more

Okay, but not all the staff is very good. Nice rooms, nice views of the lake, wall paper in hallways could use some cleaning and glue, elevator makes odd sounds approaching the third floor. Instead of bottles of shampoo and conditioner in the room there were dispensers mounted in the shower, empty. One of members of our party asked the front desk person to print out her boarding pass for the next mornings flight, he was busy looking at websites and told her no. Eventually he gave in. Later, although we were there for two days, room cards stopped working, and at 9:30 pm or so, desk clerk was nowhere to be found for 10 minutes when people wanted to go to sleep but discovered they could not get into their room. Problem may be only one staff person in the building at night and he was busy with a problem elsewhere. read more

We came here last minute for a getaway 24 hours as a couple. The weather was great which was not arranged by the Inn, but man oh man did it make for a wonderful evening. The food at their restaurant was very good: husband-bacon burger done med, just right; wife-fish tacos, may be the best I've ever had. Patio was shear perfection where we had the pleasure of watching a beautiful wedding. Room was 'fine'. Right around the level of a Holiday Inn Express. Pool was 'meh'. Hot tub, good. For $220/night in peak season it was not a rip off and we surely enjoyed the view and food. read more
