While taking a road trip across the Midwest, I accidentally discovered this little gem. We were initially looking to book a hotel in Kalamazoo, but this hotel was on the water and had excellent reviews. We booked it, and we didn't regret it. Because we stayed during the off season, we received a great rate on the King suite room overlooking Gun Lake and the river. The room had a balcony, fireplace, and jacuzzi. The service was friendly and helpful. Continental breakfast was included. We also ate at the restaurant and enjoyed the cuisine and live music. We hope to come back in the summer because we heard it is a lot of fun with more live music and lots to do on the lake.

We stayed here after we attended a wedding reception across the street. The room was very nice and the view of the lake is magnificent. There is a restaurant named Terrace Grille. We didn't eat there but the drinks are exceptional. Ordered the pear martini. All I can say is Wow. So good. This place will be amazing in the summer with the views.

    Welcome

Was in the area and found this hotel. We arrived late and the person behind the counter welcomed us to the inn. After checking in, she informed us that the bar and restaurant were closing in 30 minutes. We dropped our stuff at the room and headed down to the bar. We got our drinks and sat outside by the fire over looking the lake. The room was great and we both had a great nights sleep. The next morning we had the free complimentary breakfast in the restaurant. We were both very happy with our stay.

Live at Gun Lake brings in quite an audience!

We booked a room at Bay Pointe for a last minute get away. Dinner at the on-site restaurant was good. The king suite was spacious & mostly comfortable. We enjoyed sitting on our balcony listening to the band playing below for Live on Gun Lake -- beautiful view! Staff was friendly, rooms were clean. The only negatives for me were the extremely short toilet (maybe add a bar on the wall?) and the pillows were too fat & uncomfortable.

Recently had the Chicken tortellini with Alfredo sauce with mushrooms and I must add this may be the best dish I've had here!

My fiancée and I wanted to tour Bay Pointe Woods for our wedding venue and had made dinner reservations and booked a room for the night at the Inn to make a date night out of it. We were so excited about this venue and had our hearts set on getting married there, however, we wanted an indoor wedding in the middle of October. We were told that due to lack of staff during that month, they would not be able to accommodate us and flip the space, we would have no choice but to get married outside and have the reception inside. We were told that we would have to change our date to November in order to be eligible to have the wedding completely inside and have them flip the space for us. We expressed how we have elderly family members who would be in attendance and would not be comfortable outside or even ambulating on the grass where the chairs would be lined up. As a couple getting married in Michigan, weather can be extremely unpredictable, especially in October. It was extremely disheartening and just not feasible to have our wedding there when we are planning on spending $30,000+ on our special day and be told that we can't have exceptions made to allow us to have our dream wedding. After going back and forth with the tour guide about any possible way that we could make our dream October wedding work, she recommended a different venue/business in Grand Rapids, which was just mind blowing to us and unprofessional to essentially sell a different business. Our dinner reservation was great, the food and service was delicious. The restaurant was clean and modern. I had the salmon and my fiancée had filet. We were both very impressed with the cook, flavor, and presentation of our entrees. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. The room was very cute and also very clean! We had a great view of the water. However, bring your own pillow! There were about 6 or 7 very large pillows that were so firm. My fiancée and I both did not sleep well at all due to how uncomfortable the pillows were. We had texted the front desk (their preferred method of communication) about this issue and they never responded. The faucet in the shower was also broken. They had a decent sized pool and hot tub, but if you're looking for a gym, they only had a BowFlex treadmill and BowFlex bike and 2 1.5lb weights. Overall, we were not thrilled with the experience here. Go enjoy dinner, but save your money on the hotel and consider having your wedding elsewhere.

This hotel is a joke! So embarrassing!!! Who even runs this place no one is around?!?!?

HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT!! I was a bridesmaid here and they take your money and run!!! Freedom of speech!! Giving my honest opinion here. Horrible customer service. Cheap furniture. Beautiful bride

Lovely view of Gun Lake even though we sat inside since it was a little cool out. Decor is up to date and very relaxing. Staff was friendly and our waitress knowledgeable. We had the lake perch which was meaty and lightly battered, plated very nice with redskins and asparagus. Not much asparagus though, could have used a few more sprigs. Corn chowder was spiced nicely and full of corn. Not too thick. Birthday treat just the right finish.

However, the furniture sometimes has issues, like dresser drawers randomly opening up. Also, there are no safes in the rooms to lock up your laptop. I have always found the staff to be extremely friendly. That includes front desk, housekeeping, and the person taking care of the free breakfast buffet. On that last point, the buffet is really nice. As with any breakfast buffet, scrambled eggs tend to dry out after a while, but they are quite good if you get them when a new dish comes out. Sometimes, they have mini-omelettes, which I have found to be very good. There is also a pancake machine that turns out great pancakes. There is no restaurant or bar in the hotel, but there is a Mexican restaurant across the street, as well as a coffee place. There is every fast-food chain imaginable on the same road as the hotel. There is also a Chili's that is short drive towards downtown. If you find yourself in or near Hastings, Michigan, you should (1) figure out why you are there; and (2) stay at this hotel.

Gun Lake Motel - As you can see, you get a coffee maker, TV (with cable), microwave, and mini-fridge.

Okay, so here's the real truth on this place…read more It's a MOTEL. Like, the old-fashioned ones where it's owned by a family who lives in one of the rooms. It's decorated with thrift store furniture and it has a run-down feel. So what? You don't live there. You're just staying a night or two. Plus, it's cheap. I'm 23, and my fiancee is 25. We don't care about stupid crap like decor and supreme cleanliness in a motel. Dust? Pshhh. I don't invent things to complain about - if anything, I would have been mad if something didn't work. Or if I found rodents. I didn't, so we were good. It was cheap and it was only 15 minutes away from B-93 Birthday Bash. I'd much rather stay here any day than camp in a tent and have to shower publicly from a long pipe with holes cut in it. It wasn't gross, it just wasn't new. However, I did notice the bedspread was relatively new, and the sheets were clean. They didn't stink or have stains. I was surprised since the other reviews claimed I was going to get bed bugs or something. The mattress itself was pretty firm. That doesn't bother me, but my fiancee said it was too firm for his back. The TV is old, but you have cable with a lot of channels! You also get a microwave and MINI-FRIDGE. The A/C unit worked awesome as well. The bathroom was not scary and STD-giving like past reviews say... it had an older toilet that I prayed wouldn't overflow, and the shower/tub was the kind where you put the plastic walls up rather than it being one big piece. So it wasn't pretty, but who cares? To address the "rudeness" of the owners... when I called to make the reservation I admit the guy on the phone was pretty grumpy. We had a bad connection and it irritated him, but whatever. After getting the "last room" he told me that I couldn't cancel (um, okay it was literally the night before... why would I cancel?) and I said that was fine. He then proceeded to tell me that he doesn't have time to keep dealing with cancellations and trying to find new occupants. Well, it was TMI, but honestly, I'm young and just brush that crap off. My grandma might have been offended, but I was just was happy to get a room. When we checked in, the lady was very friendly. We had a minor mishap with her charging my credit card (that I gave over the phone) because the guy had told me I could pay cash upon check-in. I didn't really care, but I figured a small business would appreciate cash so I was surprised when she automatically handed me a receipt to sign and said "I thought I could pay cash?" She felt bad and kept apologizing, even after I said it wasn't a problem, so I would call that far from being rude. In the morning you don't even have to deal with checking out, you just leave your key in the room or drop it in the key box outside the office. I can appreciate a fast checkout, especially when you feel like crap from the day before. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because the experience of staying there was good for us, but it's not like we loved the place. It was a motel, and it worked for the occasion. I think it would be good for people who want to come have fun at Gun Lake or Birthday Bash, but I wouldn't stay here as a romantic getaway. However, if you want to save money and spend it on other things, stay here! It's not the ritz, but it's decent. I mean, it has a mini-fridge... what more can you want? Oh, and the place isn't where Google Maps says it is... it's not right on the corner of the intersection by McDonald's... it's down about a mile. There is a big sign though at the intersection that guides you. If you come from 131, you turn right on Patterson and it's down a mile on your right.

Good place on a budget. Clean and quiet. Close to grocery stores, gas stations, McDonald's, casino,…read moreand 131. During the summer you can go down the road to a nice lake and park.
