3rd visit to Prairieside! 2nd time in the Tuscan Villa room. We just love it here. This year has been really hard and we needed to get away and relax but needed to stay within a few hours from home. Prairieside was an easy choice. All our stress melted away when we arrived to our "home away from home" on Thursday! We just back to our real home and I miss the weekend already. Thank you for a wonderful stay yet again! Geoff & Jennifer

We were there for new years , and we had this in our room and we got to keep the glasses ! That was the coolest touch to our stay

We absolutely loved staying in the southern room . very nice home . the host was super nice and welcoming . we are plant based , and her vegan breakfast was amazing . I loved the choices we had and everything was super flavorful . It was a nice romantic birthday get away for me . We want to come back and see what other rooms would be fun . I did not know I wanted a heated toilet seat until I experienced one here lol . over all two thumbs up .

We just stayed for our second stay. This is an amazing place! So relaxing and luxurious! You feel very pampered! Due to covid they are delivering breakfast to the rooms and The food is delicious! So far we have stayed in the Santa Barbara beach house, and recently spent two nights in the Tuscan Villa and one night in the English cottage. We absolutely love the Santa Barbara Beach House previously. Very modern very luxurious. The Tuscan Villa room is very nice and has an amazing shower. But as far as decor I feel like it may appeal to a little bit of an older clientele. The English cottage is adorable! A very clean room with a private entry into the main house so you don't have to even walk outside. Which makes it nice in the evening if you want a cup of hot tea or cocoa or one of their delicious baked goods that's available in the kitchen. My only complaint with this room would be that the bathroom is a standard bathroom and does not have the luxurious jets as the other rooms. I feel it may be needing an upgrade. Our only other issue and this is just my husband and i's preference, we really love coffee. And found the in-room coffee lacking (It was just a coffee maker with Folger packs). each morning we woke up and drove to wild roast coffee down the road to get coffee. But we would have preferred to relax in our room and make coffee. My suggestion would be that they upgrade to an Nespresso or Keurig machine or that they make coffee in the main house and have cups available so you can go get coffee in the morning. Other than that we can't wait to go back for our third visit.! The next room we want to try is the Bali suite :) You won't regret your visit here! And a tip if you do go make sure you eat at the Grand rapids market! Fish lads was amazing and we always get love the ice cream at Loves!!!

Uhm. Can I move in here? Seriously, I've only been here for a few short hours but I'm already 100% sold. I'm maxing and relaxing in this comfy king sized bed in the fluffy robe, eating complimentary chocolate and writing this review. Pretty excellent! I'm staying in the French Riviera room and it's very fancy. Big king sized canopy bed, in room fireplace, a small table and chairs and sofa for lounging in, a big bookshelf and desk for storing items + doing work, a nice flat screen tv with cable and a dvd player/vcr (plus a library of films to choose from in the common areas), a two person jacuzzi tub right in the room (!!!), small kitchen station (with a small fridge, microwave, coffee maker, coffee and tea, plenty of mugs and dishware, etc), and a pimped out bathroom. The bathroom! Heated floors, fogless mirrors, a massaging shower, and even a heated toilet seat! There's also a massage room if you want to tack on some extra relaxation to your stay. It's the little touches throughout that are also excellent--my fridge is stocked with my favorite soda (which they found out via a questionnaire emailed to me after I made my reservation), in the common areas and kitchen are lots of homey little touches and snacks (baked goods in the kitchen and complimentary hot cocoa mix to make a beverage with), the option to take your breakfast in room (with an additional fee), etc etc. I am seriously IN LOVE. Also the price is right! I'm here for a work trip just for one night and they have a special weekday, single night stay corporate rate which is a reduced rate. But I'd gladly pay the full price in the future for a personal stay. This place is that great. Everything here is top notch and put in place to make you comfortable. I'm legitimately sad I'm only slated for one night here. I could happily spend much more time here than that. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a spin in the jacuzzi tub with my name on it.

The kitchen area where they have homemade goodies always available.

We had a lovely overnight visit for our 10th wedding anniversary. It felt so special, while only being down the road from us. They really have tried to think of everything and are so accommodating. I am gluten-free and dairy-free and they prepared a special breakfast for me. We had a nice visit with Jenn the inkeeper. She even gave us a tour of the other rooms since they were not occupied. We stayed in the French Riviera room which was so private and cozy. But all of the rooms are equally beautiful.

It was our first time staying here and everything was perfect! As soon as we got here we were greeted by the house keeper who let us know all the info we needed for staying there! We got the couples Swedish massage and it was amazing and very relaxing! We ended up staying in the room for the most part and enjoying the hot tub in the room for the night! Breakfast was delicious and elegantly served to your liking. We would love to come back in the summer time! The house is beautiful and you won't be disappointed!

    Breakfast

The Tuscan Room was very nice. I wish I could give them a 3 1/2. I imagine if we truly wanted to get away and never see anyone, this would be fabulous. As a couple that frequent B&B's, I was disappointed that there was no contact of any kind; just the woman who brought your breakfast. Breakfast was very good both days. When we arrived, there was no one to greet us. My husband had to take a selfie and text it before we could get a code to unlock our room. Once inside, there are notes everywhere to tell you how to work things. That was ok except maybe for the Shampoo and Body Bar. Personally, I think not. Breakfast is normally served 10-10:30 so don't make any plans before noon. You will also have to put your dishes out the door by 11:00. We enjoy meeting the hosts of a b&b and they didn't exist here. It was nice but we would not come back. Unless of course we wanted to go to a bed-and-breakfast and never leave the room.

    View from parking

The room was nice, cozy and private however the shower pressure was horrible and the curtains weren't block out curtains so you could see the street lights through them. I also was woken up by the train twice 11:30 pm and 6:18 am and didn't realize their was an elementary school across the street.

Once we arrived it was easy to call the listed number and get let in, which happened quickly despite our being after the agreed upon arrival time. Skylar then showed us around and left us to enjoy the room. She had their two children with them which was fun and gave the space more of the local family feel. We didn't hear them during the rest of our stay so no worries about late night cries etc. The house is beautiful and our room had a private bath with a huge jacuzzi tub. There was a window ac unit as well as a fan so we stayed comfy at night and even outside fireworks weren't too noticeable. We were a handy 10 minute walk to a multitude of restaurants and cute parks plus the river walk. There was also a parking spot at the house so we could leave the car and not worry as we walked in the city. The breakfast was especially tasty and Skylar made extra effort to accommodate our dietary needs by making something totally different for me (veggie hash with toast and yogurt all vegan). The fruit, juice and coffee for all were tastefully laid out and made for a refreshing breakfast experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and would stay here again!

We stayed in Room 2 which is also bright yet cozy at the same time. Our room had a Keurig coffee maker which was great! I will just have to remember to bring some tea with us next time as we love our tea. I didn't think to ask for any so I can't fault anyone but myself! The bath products are provided and smell amazing! I actually wrote the name of the brand down as I am going to order some for home. We really appreciated having an extra power strip in the room. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious with local products. Cinnamon raisin bread French toast, bacon that was perfectly prepared, fresh fruit, orange juice and hot coffee. I look forward to returning to The Lafayette House!

Booking online was easy and I was kept informed about my reservation through a few emails ensuring that I was going to have a fun filled happy weekend. They covered the room, the meal choices, the facilities and trails, as well as nearby towns and the restaurant recommendations. The room itself was beyond what we imagined! Everything was so romantic and clean. Everything was just pefect. The breakfasts were so filling and there was a nook area with granolas, cookies, and drinks at all times.
