Everyone was so kind and I could tell that they wanted both me and Camilla to feel comfortable during our 4 night stay in Istanbul. My room was on the 4th floor and was spacious. The room was also really really clean. I felt very safe and comfortable. There were places to sit and relax as well as a very comfortable bed to get my much needed Z's. What this hotel does really well is it goes above and beyond with the little things. When you enter your room you are greeted with delicious Turkish Delight and a sweet note. They also have a pillow menu and list of items that they can give you if you forgot something at home. The rooftop is awesome! I loved sneaking up there with Camilla early in the morning to watch the sunrise and bird watch a bit. At night it is a great place to have a glass of wine or bourbon while resting your tired feet. They don't have a bar up there so you can feel even better about bringing your own snacks or drinks up! There is a pool but I did not use it. I guess I'm just not the indoor pool sort of person. Breakfast in the morning is substantial. They have fruits, veggies, cereal, yogurts, pastries, eggs, and much more! The staff are really awesome and will hey you fresh juice or coffee right when you sit down. They have unobtrusive tip boxes where you can show some paper money love should you wish. In the afternoon there is a free snack time. I didn't take advantage of it. I wish that I had but for some reason I can only fit so much food in my tummy and I wanted to try as many places in the city as I could! I wouldn't have been able to eat much of anything if I filled up during snack time! Again the staff here are really super helpful. I woke up the last morning a bit ... hung over... and slow ... and when I called them to ask for late check out they were kind and told me not to rush. They also watched my bags no problem during the day of my flight and kept them safe in a locked area. Again the location is really good and they are more than happy to give directions. You won't have to walk very far to get to the main sites and I found the area to be very safe. In fact, Istanbul itself seemed pretty safe in the tourist areas. They have tourist police and I think that they really must do their jobs! I did get into one taxi that tried to cheat me ... on the mirror you can see the meter and the guy had it already started. I asked him to start it over (we hadn't moved) and he refused. So I got out of the cab. No big deal. Just thought I'd warn anyone who ends up reading this. My other tip is to go to popular sites right when they open. The crowds are much less and you won't have to wait in line forever. When I come back to Istanbul I will DEFINITELY stay at this hotel. They are worth the small hit to my backpacker budget (I spent a little over $100 USD with a very last minute booking), when I travel on my own thin dime i usually try to stay under $50 a night... Camilla said it was her favorite hotel of the entire trip and that if you have a traveling familiar or someone you want to impress with a value added hotel, you have found your place!

The reception are helpful and get things done, but the staff, though kind and efficient, seemed somewhat frustrated and rushed. The rooms are tiny and but spotless and adequately equipped. Their housekeeping is very professional and trustworthy.. watching a bed remade perfectly in minutes was oddly satisfying.

Of course there are cheaper ways to go but this was convenient and easy so well worth it. On site is also a small pool and massage establishment. We did not try them but looked inviting. Next time. The room was nice and clean and good water pressure in the bathrooms. But the bed was a bit hard for our preference. What we really loved was our visit to the spa. We booked a couples massage that started with some honey, followed up by a bubble massage in the Turkish bath that was fantastic. The massage finished in one of the massage rooms, and we left very relaxed. The restaurant was okay for breakfast as it was included in the room rate for us, but the dinner was not good at all. In fact I would say of the whole trip, everywhere we ate, the dinner we had here was probably the worst. I'm giving it 4 stars because we would certainly stay here again although we would eat our lunches and dinners at many of the restaurants that are a walk up the hill behind the hotel.

A number of sections in the hotel live up to the modern, high standards of the W brand while other amenities fall very short for a 2023 version of a W hotel. Naming the things that I felt amazing about hotel, the hospitality was easy a 10 out of 10. Each and every staff member was amazing and made sure to cater to my every need. There was even an employee who went above and beyond to help me with public transportation by loaning me his transport card. That type of service sets places apart. They even set up communication through WhatsApp. I would have to say the interaction with the staff might be one of the top 3 experiences I've had with a staff in my entire history of hotel stays. One of the negatives associated with that was the communication method. WhatsApp was extremely convenient but that shouldn't be the reason that the in-room telephone doesn't work. Not only does it not work, it has a digital display face that remains lit so to sleep at night I literally had to turn the phone upside down. When it comes to reaching out, making a local call, or anything that typically requires a phone, not having one work in the room is extremely inconvenient. Another 10 out of 10 category is the location. It is the perfect location for traveling to Istanbul. A 3 minute walk from a popular bus stop that goes to several recommended places was such a convenience. Also, there might be around 20 restaurants within a quarter mile radius to the hotel. There's also a supermarket steps away, as well as a beauty supply store, etc. Pretty much everything you need. However............... I would also give the location a 3 out of 10 on the weekends in the event you need to sleep and your room is facing the popular street. You will hear loud music on some nights close to 3am. The windows do drown some of the noise but it is still loud enough to keep you awake. It was unbelievable, especially when I had to be up early for excursions. Another 10 out of 10 was the daily buffet style breakfast. For W hotels that wasn't something that is commonly found from my experience but it was so good. The spread included options for all types of diets and I doubt there is anyone who won't find something to satisfy that. Now, I have to go to something that was a 1 out of 10 and that was the accessible outlets and charging stations in the rooms. The room I occupied, which was a suite, had a single outlet next to the bed with no USB ports typically found in most 4 and 5 star hotels. There were actually no USB ports in the entire room and the only other accessible outlets were in the bathroom vanity. That made it very inconvenient when numerous devices had to be charged. Another low scoring category was the lighting in the room. I'd say 6 out of 10. Just not bright enough. Overall, I really did enjoy the hotel and the positives I mentioned. I would just expect the negative things I touched on to not be an issue at a W hotel.

Cabanas are poorly located and too near to the rooms so the noise from people hanging out til 4am outside your room will keep you up as well. 0 stars for cleanliness as the room was a bit dusty We have stayed in many W's throughout our travels and this one in Istanbul is by far the least kept up. The rooms are also very dark even when you open the curtains and turn on all lights. W Istanbul earns 1 1/2 stars rounded up to 2 as 1/2 stars are not allowed. And that's being generous.

We were greeted at the door by Ertan, the front desk staff on the weekend, and everyone we met was smiling, friendly, and professional! We had booked only two days before, but our rooms were side-by-side on the third floor and were ready early for us to check in. We were walking distance to the Grand Bazaar, the blue mosque, the trolley, and much much more. Halil, the headwaiter, was amazing! As was Handan, the cook in the rooftop terrace café/breakfast area. And what a wonderful rooftop terrace it was! I spent many hours there, both while enjoying wonderful breakfasts and Turkish tea and coffee, as well as while reading in the shade, looking out over the water and the rooftops of old town Istanbul. This is a wonderful place to stay if you want to explore the older part of Istanbul. Halil, Handan, and Ertan were especially outstanding during our stay, providing helpful advice, service, and friendship. I can't wait to come here again and stay at hotel Niles! A first great impression I will never forget. I absolutely loved the look of the hotel. It's exactly what I was looking for. It has a lot of personality and you feel like you're in Turkey. Beautiful architecture and intricate designs everywhere you look. The rooftop terrace was especially my favorite. All of the staff kept asking if we needed anything. Kemal provided us with so much information about where to go and directions on how to get to all of the destinations. There is a complimentary breakfast offer every morning. This was very convenient and the food tasted great. On one of our stays, Halil, greeted us back into the hotel after an exhausting day shopping at the grand bazaar. When we were in our room, Halil knocked on our door and surprised us with hot tea and a cut-up cheese stuffed Simit. We were so excited and we will never forget the top-notch service they all constantly provided us with. Also, we are animal lovers. There were two kittens living outside of Hotel Niles. The staff made a box for the kittens and fed them and provided them with water every day. We loved that. Shows how much they care =) The location of the hotel is excellent. All we had to do was walk up the street and we were at the grand bazaar, a tram station that you can take to get to other parts of Istanbul. It's a fairly walkable area, but it's at the very top of a few hills, so just make sure you're prepared to walk. Once inside the beauty of it and service is just top tier. The rooftop restaurant Spago is amazing, along with the service. The Brassiere downstairs is also great. The rooms are very largely sized, but a few downsides... The shower head is a rainfall head, but the shower itself is so small you're stuck under it and sort of constricted in your movement. It's hard to wash yourself like that, and the bathroom and closet are so big, as is the room that they could've made the shower a bit bigger for sure. The TV in the bathroom also was basically useless, it did not work at all. There's also a few details here and there overlooked (dings, scratches, wood not finished to 100%) but nothing enough for me to really complain about to the hotel directly. I would stay here again if I go back to Istanbul at any point in time, but I would probably break my trip up where half of it is here and the other half at the Four Seasons Bosphorus, not the Sultanahmet one.

Located…read morein the old city in Sultanahmet, it is very convenient for visiting the major attractions, such as Topkapi, Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, etc. Be aware that if you're looking for a Hyatt or Four Seasons kind of hotel, this is NOT for you. It is a cozy boutique hotel nestled into the neighborhood. You won't find a spa or room service here. But you will benefit from super helpful and friendly front desk staff, a large and varied complimentary breakfast that changes every days, quaint rooms and views of the Blue Mosque and Bosphorus from the top-floor terrace. We were in room 303, which is probably the best room in the hotel. It's on the top floor and has windows on three sides. In one direction you see the Bosphorus, in another you can look down the cobblestone street where all the nearby restaurants are located, and in the third you see the Blue Mosque, which is especially beautiful when illuminated at night. Our room was more spacious than the rooms that the rest of our family had, but all of us were comfortable and happy during our stay. Getting nearby points of interest entails a short uphill walk down narrow streets, so you need to have some situational awareness as you'll be sharing the road with cars and taxis. You'll have to run the gauntlet several restaurants with proprietors who will try to entice you to eat at their establishments. They can be rather assertive, in a friendly and good-natured way, but after a week of dealing with this it did get a bit tiresome. Nevertheless, this is an excellent place to stay during a visit to Istanbul. I don't anticipate coming back to this area any time soon, but if my path leads me back to this beautiful city I'll be booking the Darussaade (hopefully in 303 again).

Both rooms had ensuite bathrooms, but the bigger room's bathroom featured a marble walk in shower/ hammam. The rooms live up to the photos perfectly. The main selling point of the stay was the terrace breakfast that had a generous breakfast buffet and stunning panoramic views of the Blue Mosque. Overall, it was an extraordinary stay and would 100% recommend the Hotel Darussaade!
