This is probably the worse best western we have ever stayed at and my hubby and I have stayed at hundreds over the past 40 years of our marriage ! Upon entering our room it just had a bad smell but after traveling for 10 hours in a car with a dog we just dealt with it ! Now let's talk about the room - it was run down clean thanks to the housekeeper but needed a little TLC . The air conditioning unit made the loudest sounds ALL NIGHT LONG !!! Sounded like someone was outside my room washing there car literally - so we did not get a good night sleep at all ! They provided breakfast and it was just ok to us ! The reason I'm giving two stars is cause the guy that checked us in was super nice and then of course the hwy 66 sign in front but that shouldn't be the best part of a stay at best western !!!! Stayed here last week, we had asked for an accessible room and the lady at the desk assured us that it was accessible but it wasn't, no grab bars in the shower. Then our toilet got clogged so I called the front desk to have someone bring us a plunger, and she said "you can come to the front desk and get it here". Okay... well, maybe they were short-staffed. Otherwise, so happy there were no issues with the a/c because it was 115 degrees outside! Plenty of parking, quiet, and the best part was the breakfast at the restaurant next door. They had everything, scrambled eggs, sausage, cereal, juice, yogurt and more. You could tell the lady there worked hard to keep the place clean and tidy, and made sure there was enough food out for the guests. read more

I will start out by saying that my wife and I are grateful to Keith and the Best Western Colorado River Inn. We had started the day in Phoenix, purchased a truck for our son, and after having dinner with our other son and his girlfriend, I drove the truck to Flagstaff while my wife followed. We found out that it was Parent Weekend for NAU students in Flag and there were no rooms available. So we began to drive home. At 10 pm. To Orange County, CA. We checked in Kingman, AZ. No rooms available anywhere. It was 12:30 am. I was ready to drive home, 4.5 hours away. My wife was so tired and she just wanted to sleep. She began calling when we got close to Needles. No rooms. Finally, she reached Keith. He was pleasant and confirmed that they did have a room. Yay!!!! We arrived about 1:20 am. Keith was nice and checked us in. The room was small but clean. There was an uncomfortable king bed that we were so happy to get into. The furniture is dated but in good working order. My wife went straight to sleep but I took a shower and puttered about the room for about 20 minutes. Sink outside the bathroom, little counter space. Shower small and with a curtain. Shower pressure weak. It still felt great. We both slept well and awoke close to 9 am. Though there is a train track a short distance from the Inn, either they don't run at night or the room is very quiet. No one woke us up. There is supposed to be a complimentary breakfast at the adjoining restaurant but it had closed temporarily. There was some kind of breakfast offered in the lobby but we didn't partake. We took off shortly thereafter, happy for our short stay at Best Western Colorado River Inn. I never knew Needles and Kingman, AZ, were such hoppin places. read more

Went to Needles for a work trip and decided to stay at this location. It is rundown on the outside with no elevator just stairs to the 2nd floor (that is rough with luggage). However customer service was on point. The rooms were very clean and the beds were so comfortable. I would suggest staying here if needing to stay in Needles. We did not partake in the free breakfast but it smelled really good walking by it. Overall a good couple of days stay. read more

I typically don't review chain establishments, but this particular Best Western in Needles felt like something special and a notch above the others I've stayed in over the years. If you're road tripping on I-40, it's an easy place to spend an evening near the California / Arizona boarder. Located off of Historic Route 66, this Best Western really plays into the history of it's location. There's a large "Route 66" mural painted in the parking lot when you pull in (a great photo op), and the lobby sells little postcards and other travel memorabilia. The outdoor pool area was wonderful for a summer night in the Mojave Desert heat. It was clean, open late, and included a decently sized hot tub. One truly special touch that my daughters and I truly appreciated was instead of a continental breakfast type of deal, we were provided with a breakfast voucher to use at Chilling Point Restaurant and Bar, which was located right next door. There were a few options to choose from (for adults and kids), and everything we got was delicious. The staff was quick and incredibly kind, so please make sure to tip them generously if you take advantage of the free breakfast option. Overall, this place was a wonderful "diamond in the rough" find if you happen to be in need of a space to stay mid-road trip. My 8 year old daughter now considers Best Westerns to be "her favorite hotels". If only the rest of the locations lived up to the standards set by the Best Western in Needles. :) read more

This was a very big disappointment . This was by far the most expensive and worst BW $162($157 w/AAA discount) I have stayed in. Recent BW stays in other cities were a pleasure with their remodeled status an a much more reasonable price. I would call this price gouging at its finest. The room smelled, carpet needed stretching, there was no soap to use for this sink, and the soap, shampoo and conditioner were all empty. There was mold in the shower as well. There's not much choice of good hotels in Needles, but I would recommend this Best Western. McKenna the reception host was very sweet and got us 2 rooms right away when we came in the same day. The rooms were very clean and the AC was great in the 117 degree heat. The bathroom is small but adequate. The mattresses aren't the best but the sheets were clean. We enjoyed the pool area and the spa is now open. They played 50s and 60s music which made it more fun. They have an outdoor bbq too. The parking lot is big with plenty of room for people with boats. What a horrible, mis-managed property. The room was dirty, run down, carpet stained and had a odor of mildew or mold. The property was unkept including cigarette butts everywhere. This place is not being well managed! In addition, it was very, very noisy early in the morning as people were leaving. There were lots of work trucks there from various companies and the employees stayed in the hotel and all left making racket and spewing exhaust into the room. While this likely IS the cleanest hotel option in Needles, it is by no means worth $144-180 a night. Had it been $90-$110 we would have given it 5 stars. PROS: Friendly check-in staff, room is clean (no bugs, no sign of previous guests, did not smell musty or old, comfortable bed & pillows). Felt safe. Pool looked decent (but we didn't use it). CONS: No amenities nearby except gas - and it's peak price/gal. Other than a few fast food options up one or two highway exits, there is only a subway within walking distance. Although I'll give them kudos for attempting to offer breakfast during a pandemic - it wasn't quite the "full hot breakfast" (quote) the Best Western Reservation agent told us was included in the price on the phone. It's a lot of money to spend to lay your head down for one night just passing through. If you MUST stop (as scary as some of the reviews are for Laughlin Casinos up the river 25-30 min) for $40/night, and food options aplenty, you might be financially better off putting up with a little dust and a few dead crickets in the room.... and do the casino options. Harrahs has beautiful grounds and wasn't as bad as some reviews have stated. Starbucks inside. Did not see the rooms tho. River's Edge was a bit tired looking inside and smelled like a sewer as you walked up - but it's not horrible. read more

The only reason I'm giving this 2 stars is because the woman who checked us in was very nice! We were desperate to stop and sleep during a snowstorm in flagstaff- On Priceline this appeared to be the most decent hotel in needles- price was a bit high for a best western in needles, however desperate times call for desperate measures. We arrive and were checked in fast... get to room, and it was filth from the moment we walked in. Dirty carpet, something wet and disgusting on the headboard, used toilet paper roll, filthy shower ( we couldn't even shower in that thing)... and for the first time in my life... an envelope for tips to housekeeping on the dresser. The first flush of the toilet ( liquids only), it overflowed. In the event you are even questioning staying here, I'd recommend sleeping in Your car on the side of the road instead . read more

After a cross country road trip we almost kept on driving when we looked at other hotels in Needles, and then we saw this place which looked promising, although it has external entry doors. It was off the freeway so we gave it a try and we were glad we did. The row of palm trees in their parking lot was a welcoming sight- ah, California. We saw a train go by on the back side so we opted for rooms on the front which was no problem for the friendly, welcoming front desk. This hotel has too many manual requirements for the front desk to make it a quick check in, (filling out room numbers on slips of paper and telling you about the fine for smoking in a non-smoking room-duh), but she did it all with a big smile. Only one wi-fi device per room but at least the wi-fi works using the code provided on a slip of paper. Breakfast is free at a cute cafe across the parking lot, as long as you remember one of those slips of paper. The pool area is large, private and lovely. Rooms were clean, large and solid with no neighbor noises coming through the walls. No train or traffic noise either. I would stay here again. read more

The sink smelled of sewer gas or an s-trap that had never been cleaned. No way we would take a shower. Carpet was stained in multiple spots. Our experience for the one night we stayed while passing through Needles was good. The important thing for us at this time was a safe place to stay, clean sheets, clean bed. Its not the Ritz Carleton but you expect that. They have put effort into doing some upgrades to make this older hotel more functional like a taller shower spout. The added the dispenser for shampoo, conditioner and body wash - reducing the need for all of the small plastic bottles. Thanks for being here Best Western. read more

Then we went to bed on a hard mattress that I am not sure had a mattress pad. Got up in the middle of the night for the bathroom, found small black bugs running along the baseboards. The wagon wheel was horrible don't eat there.!! remember when you first come here you do not have to buy gas at the Shell gas station that's just a gimmick just come across down the road and gas was $3.43. We are from California we stayed August 12, 2023 we will be coming back. We had a wonderful wonderful time at the river with our waverunners. This is the best hotel I would even stay in Laughlin, we love it here that much the staff becomes family. We usually stay at Best Western venues and a quick check of Yelp led us to this location. We were not disappointed. We were greeted by Martin who was very professional and quickly checked us in. Martin has a great personality and he was very informative about the local area. Complimentary breakfast was available next door at the 'Giggling Cactus' so we decided to try it for dinner. They have great food with outstanding service. We are definitely going there for breakfast! We found our room to be spacious, fresh smelling, clean and quiet. Scam alert! DO NOT STAY HERE! I've been trying over a month to settle a dispute over incorrect charges due to a quote they offered over the phone that they refused to uphold. In late October, my friends and I were moving to Colorado from California and, due to weather and time of day (after 1am), we decided to stop before our original destination and called in a place to stay. This is the first place we called. The operator said that to book a two queen bed room for the day with a late checkout for $86. Since we had 3 people and a child, we decided two rooms would be better. We asked how much it would cost us to get two adjacent rooms. The operator said $86. We asked her to repeat herself and she confirmed the $86 dollars total. We accepted her terms and checked in an hour or so later. In the afternoon, when we go to check out, it turns out that they charged us $167 a room. The operator told us $86 dollars for the night for both rooms and they charged us $324 instead. When we questioned the desk person, they said the previous desk person went home and could not be reached. When we disputed the charges, she came back with a response from her manager of essentially "oh well, deal with it". We then called customer care, got a case number and was told by their customer care a week after they said they would have a resolution that they closed the case. They admitted that they didn't bother to check the phone conversation and refused to offer a refund or an apology. If I had known that they were going to charge $167 a room, I'd never had booked there and would have either slept in my car or somewhere else. I'd recommend going anywhere else, even your car before I'd go to this hotel. read more

This hotel is a great example of too much hype ... too little delivery. Let's be real. To start with, the hotel isn't on the river, more like about a mile away, not that anyone would want to see that part of the river. It's off the I-40 freeway in what would best be described as a truck stop, basically in the parking lot of the adjacent gas stations. The online booking experience was horrendous. As soon as I logged on it flashed a bold messages (in red) that my billing address didn't match my credit card. The only thing wrong with that is that I had not yet entered my billing address nor my credit card number. I spent over a half-hour trying to get it to work, because to qualify of the special low online rate the reservation had to be made online. Each time the website fought me and insisted my address was wrong before I even entered it. Somehow I finally got it to work. When I arrived the property was much less than expected, basically a Joe-average motel off the freeway. The desk clerk was cheerful and pleasant, which turned out to be one of the few things about the property that was pleasant. After I had fully registered and paid and had the key in my hand I found out I had been assigned to a handicap room. No problem, just give me another room. Nope, that was the only room available. Not only don't I require a handicap room, but I felt bad during my entire visit that I may had denied the use of that room to someone who was truly in need. The clerk was unbending, take it or leave it without the slightest offer of a discount for the inconvenience. The room was a drab, lower floor Motel 6 like facility, facing a row of parked cars, no view at all. Being a special needs room there was little in the way of furnishings. From there it went downhill. The bed was rock hard, the pillows small, there were no cosmetic amenities only a cheap wall-mounted dispenser for soap and lotion (that squeezed the most miniscule amount of product out possible). The bathroom sink had no vanity at all to place toilet supplies. The AC was loud and either blew warm or cold. The walls were paper-thin and the sounds of doors slamming and feet slamming on the floor above never stopped. And then there were the long freight trains passing by all night so close that the ground shook. The vending machine area was a carbon-copy of a Motel 6 of the 1970's. Strangely (as illustrated in the photo) the room wasn't really special-needs complaint ... light switches out of reach, no illuminated flasher for the door, and a closet wedged between a spring-loaded bathroom door and a refrigerator which would be impossible to access for a chair-bound person. And, are you sitting down, they had a looong wordy statement warning people about stealing towels, with an offer to buy them instead at a Nieman-Marcus prices. Seriously I would have no interest in stealing those towels to towel-off my pet chimpanzee. The hotel's website made a big deal about the pool and they are right, it is nice, in fact it is way overdone for a motel of this quality. The pool was clean, the spa was hot with powerful jets and there were nice touches of an outdoor fireplace and fire torches, which just seemed odd in a town that is known as one of the hottest places on Earth. All the money they spent updating the pool area, unfortunately, could not hide the huge looming lighted signs for the surrounding gas stations nor the 18-wheelers that almost touched the surround wall as they cruised by. Included in the price of my room was a complimentary breakfast at the restaurant next door. It was adequate. They sat me in the lobby, gave me a cup of coffee and some scrambled eggs that tasted a bit like hand lotion, but it was "free". The wireless internet was "free" as well and was much better than average in terms of dependability. Despite the fact that this is a very average Motel 6 like property I probably would have rated it a 3 except for the glaring fact that that they forced me to occupy a handicap room that could have been better assigned to a more deserving person, hence the 2 stars. They were quick to send me an emailed survey which I honestly answered and received a bland form email reply "signed" by the general manager that really didn't address anything they asked me to comment on. Bottom line? Overpriced and under delivered. This is a stereotypical truck stop tourist motel, nothing more. Lock your doors, put your earplugs in and hit the road at dawn. You probably won't be back, and they know it. read more

Stayed here a few weeks ago, and had a nice night stay. Got here late at night, but rooms were still available. Too late at night to use the pool, which had already closed, but it was still hot outside, so the water was probably bath temperature anyway. The inn was clean. Don't go into the lobby if you're allergic to birds - yep, the birds described in previous Yelp reviews are still there. Like I said, the inn was clean. The room was nice sized. Everything was great, including the free wifi. Since the inn is in the desert, which is always hot this time of year, I needed to keep the air conditioner on all night. Good thing that I'm a sound sleeper, because the ac was loud when it kicked into "cold" mode. I'd rather have a cool noisy room to sleep in instead of a hot quiet room any time. I had a TV, a small refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, and dresser in the room. The sink was in the separate vanity area just off of the bathroom. A free basic and hot breakfast provided at the restaurant next door was included in the room rate, and was a great way to start my day! Well, actually a nice forceful shower in the bathroom at the inn was a great way to start my day. This place is great, it's the location that kind of sucks (between the freeway and the train tracks). I came by loaded with my pets for my cross country move and checked in at the front desk. Not sure if smoking is allowed in the lobby, but it smelled heavily of cigarette smoke. The front desk associate was helpful and got me checked in in a timely fashion and answered my questions. I pulled around to the backside of the building to access my room upstairs. I stayed in room 221 and found that it was facing the train tracks. Turns out the trains run at least once an hour all through the night. The room was clean, bed was comfy and every amenity was provided. Once I got the pets settled, I took advantage of the pool area. This is where this hotel shines. The hot tub was nice and once I felt too warm, I swam in the perfectly heated pool. There is a fire pit and even a bar area with a BBQ that looked like it may be staffed sometimes or guests can reserve time there to entertain friends. They play music over outside speakers and there's even a sauna room available for use. I slept with the AC unit running all night, which helped drown out the sound of the trains going by all night long. Bed was comfy and plenty of pillows were available. This morning I got to go next store to the Giggling Cactus restaurant for a complimentary breakfast! I ordered 2 eggs, bacon, hash browns and an english muffin. It even came with a drink. Everything was pretty great and the service was amazing. Overall very pleased with my stay here. Random tip: if you walk over to the Chevron next door, they have a fun map of route 66 painted on a wall. Good for photos etc. read more
