We stayed here a few nights ago and were very impressed. The staff are so nice and friendly. The young man who worked late at night and early the next morning was extremely helpful. Will look forward to breakfast. Pool area doesn't have enough towels. Water was hot in spa. Able to hold 8 or so. There is a sign promising a remodel in the winter 2024... the spa is raggedy. I'd give this hotel 3.5 stars if could. It was a step up from 3 stars but not quite good enough to be 4 stars. This hotel was renovated and looks really nice on the inside! We were in town for a wedding and this was the most affordable place that was still pretty nice. The check-in process was quick and easy. They only have 1 main elevator, so it can take some time waiting for it to arrive. Our room was spacious and clean. Housekeeping came by to restock some of our items but did not make the bed or anything. On our second night, I got 4-5 phone calls on the room phone from some creepy person saying "who is this?" over and over. This was paired with people running up and down the hallway; these were grown adults, not children. The front desk didn't know what to do about the caller, saying nobody was at the desk making calls. I ended up just double locking our door and had no other issues. There is a pull-down blackout shade in the room but around 5:30am when the sun came up, you'd be surprised how much light still got in the room around this shade curtain. It was pretty bright with no way to make it darker, resulting in us being woken up by the light around 6-7am each day. The King size bed was really comfortable, but they need to change the pillows; there were 2 per person but they were all pretty squishy and flat. It would've been nice for each person to have at least one firm pillow. We utilized the pool once while we were there, it was nice! There's an indoor pool that is heated plus a hot tub. You get complimentary breakfast, the hot items are served to you buffet style by a staff member. We got eggs and bacon from the staff member, and then there are some other self-serve items like yogurt, breads, and a waffle maker. It wasn't the best, but was still better than nothing. Overall, it was a decent hotel stay for what we paid! read more

The Shutters is the old Hilton garden inn in Elko Nevada. It was a perfectly lovely, updated, relaxing and well situated hotel. We would meet our friends in the cozy and semi secluded seating area each evening for cocktails before setting off for dinner. Keep in mind this is Elko. I've stayed here twice for 4 nights total. Price is good. First experience was better than the second. Bed was good with a mix of pillow styles offered for personal comfort, including a body pillow. This was a work trip, so having the desk right in front of the AC froze half of me. Not sure why floor towel's aren't removed from service when they are fraying so bad they become a tripping hazard. Second stay, a neighboring room had a yapping and whining dog left in the room for hours. The counter and Ruby restaurant staff tend to disappear pretty frequently with a sign "will be back in 10-15 minutes." Breakfast has to go through Ruby, and last stay I waited at the bar for 10 min to get a breakfast burrito as no one was present. When the cook returned, I placed my order, and a premade burrito was flopped on the counter from a steam pan. The food for price at Ruby is poor, and I won't make a third mistake. $1 per tiny pretzel bite? Really? Fish and chips was decent with a nice batter, but no malt vinegar. Sirloin steak special (reported by a co-worker at dinner) was tough and carrots under-cooked. The waitress seems to be poorly organized and even forgot to put in our dinner order for 15 minutes. I stayed here for two nights over the Labor Day weekend while visiting the area. The hotel for the most part is modern: lighting, art, fixtures, furniture, etc. There is a small bar/restaurant located inside the hotel. You can buy a few essential items at the store located next to the check in desk. The pool/spa area was still open although it is going to be updated winter of 2024. I used the facilities against my better judgement. The deck was littered with trash. I am pretty sure the pump and filter system were not functioning at full capacity because there were bugs and hairs floating in the cloudy water. The rooms were simple and clean with tv, fridge, coffee maker, microwave, and iron. The shower head desperately needed to be replaced. I did hear a bit of neighbors chatting and freeway noise. The breakfast served was substantial enough to fuel me for a morning of hiking. The place just needs to be cleaned more often. The trash can out front was not emptied while I was there. The tile in the entrance had drips and spills that were never mopped up. Keeping a closer eye on the little things will make this hotel a more pleasant place to stay. read more

I stayed here for one night late September. Had a reservation well in advance. The hotel is very pretty, the lobby area is bright and nicely appointed, and the front desk staff is very nice. I was eyeing on the courtyard, which looked charming. My room on the second floor was very clean. Spacious. Nice bed, clean white bed cover! Yeah. The view of bus yard (?) wasn't charming, but hey... only one night... It was a bit unnerving to see how close the ground was, but the window was not locked. I know, it may sound too nit-picky but when traveling alone, safety is the top priority. I was tired, so it didn't take long for me to fall asleep... until I was awaken by a wailing toddler at 1:30 am. She started crying right in front of my door, then went into the next room. I didn't hear the accompanying adults, but the toddler kept crying for an hour. Then came the blaring train horns. OMG, it's crazy loud. And I started to worry about the child next door. Obviously I didn't sleep very well for the rest of the night. The hotel wasn't full at all. Would have been nice if they thought about not placing a family with a young child arriving at a crazy hour right next to other guests. Well, if I think about it... The place is a major fail. Stay at your own risk. Let's start with the fact that it has fallen down a long way since it started as a Hilton Garden Inn. They are still falsely using that name in their advertising. They advertise elevated comfort food and I have a picture of their breakfast offering for both days we stayed there. Yup, high sugar & fat bars along with OJ. There were cream cheese tubs but nothing to put it on. That's it! We took a photo of it. We passed on the burnt coffee in the lobby. One reviewer mentioned his stay was a breath of fresh air. We agree, but it was because the room window frame is sprung, the rubber seal in the frame is sticking out and the window lock does not engage. You almost cannot see out the window for the filth on it. When the A/C ran, the window whistled. Don't believe it? See the picture with your own eyes. Broken furniture in the room. Once again the picture tells the story. The shower head is so old and clogged up, all settings work the same - a meager steam of water that is more directed on the walls of the shower than the person in the shower. The beds are so worn out that they slump from their own weight and the lumps in the mattresses make for a miserable sleep. See photo of slumping mattress next to broken furniture. On neither of the two days, did housekeeping clean the room. WOW that is real classy. No wonder Hilton dumped them. There was a cleaning person we saw in the hallway the second day who said if we needed anything, just ask. We asked for set of towels. Still the trashcans were overflowing and the beds were not made or the towels laundered. Still more class. This meets the definition of a dump, but it has thick makeup to hide it. read more

Overall, my experience was a mixed bag at Shutters Hotel. The interior looks as if it has been renovated recently and the staff was very friendly. Unfortunately, at check-in I was greeted with a surprise surcharge of 6% for utilities. The lack of transparency with this charge feels deceptive. The breakfast was ok, as all of the cereal was for children except for the Cheerios option. Oatmeal would be a good option. Also, there weren't any pastries or bagels which are usually offered at these types of breakfasts. There were a few lights that were out on the outside as well and made it fairly dark walking in the side door. read more

Stayed here overnight while driving through on a trip. The lobby, front desk area and restaurant are all very inviting. It's got a modernized feel and is welcoming and bright. The gal who checked us in was helpful and quick. Our room wasn't fancy but it was cozy and clean, just what we needed. The bed was very comfortable and the pillows were fluffy, maybe even too fluffy for me! The bathroom needs some work as the tile on the ground was wobbly and cracking. Amenities - the pool and fitness was open 24/7 which is cool and something you don't see in hotels often. They have a complimentary breakfast where I had the biggest burrito and the kids had pancakes. Breakfast started at 6 which is nice as we were getting an early start. I'd totally recommend this stop to anyone looking for a nice quiet cozy night. read more

The good is it's newly remodeled and it's is very pretty. Rooms are comfy. The negative is it's advertiser the restaurant which on the day we were here was closed down because one person said that they were shortstaffed and the other person said that they didn't have the food come in ? we went down for breakfast. I asked the cook how much longer for the eggs and bacon to get done eggs 10 minutes bacon 15 minutes. they weren't that crowded. There was a lot of tables but there should've been two people work back there poor guy had to go get forks and stuff also no wonder. there was no food ready in buffet type setting. Front desk girls were really nice. it's a small town so it was kind of nice that we weren't gonna have to go. Try to find a restaurant to eat at. But that's what we had to do. We needed a place to stay for the night and two others were full or the right size room wasn't available. I got online and made reservation for this hotel. I have got to say the photos don't do it justice. It's a beautiful place that looks like it should be an east coast hotel on the water. Wonderful staff and absolutely perfect workout room- I used at 130 am. It is open 25 hrs. Laundry facility which I needed. Outstanding breakfast- made to order- free with stay! Terrrrrrrrrrible!!!!!!!! Mom came here the other night after a long drive. The person who helped her check in didn't complete the stay and therefore showed the room SHE WAS STAYING IN AS OPEN!!! Wtf. Here comes the scary part. In the morning, she was chilling in her room eating breakfast when someone started using a key to open the door. She thought it could be the neighbors since rooms were tight. Wait for it.... A man dressed in all black with two black bags WALKS IN HER ROOM!!! She screams and says, "what are you doing here?!" And he quickly leaves. WTF!!!! Scary shiz!!!!! She calls the front desk to report what happened and the person says, "Oh sorry about that, seems your stay wasn't completed and it shows your room as vacant" WTF IS THAT ABOUT!!! We are waiting for our REFUND! For others: stay at your own risk! Seriously. read more

The lobby is gorgeous, fireplace, everything gleaming and well taken care of. The front desk staff are the BEST, so friendly, providing information and lots of smiles. That's where it ends. The room is dismal and if I hadn't just driven 700 miles in one day I'd have walked right back out and gone someplace else. The door hardware is hanging loose, like the door got kicked in, so the screws are barely connected to the door itself, a security nightmare, which I ended up pushing my heavy bag against the door as well as leaving the bathroom door open to block entry. My view out onto the HVAC deck was dismal as well. I turned off the a/c and opened the window, oops, the whole dang window just slides right open. The little locking clip is broken and I pushed it closed as far as I could. The other side opened a couple inches, great, at least some real fresh air. I had a hard time sleeping because I was worried about that window not closing properly. The shower control was sticky and barely worked, There were stains on the floor. The mattress was hilarious in a bad way, once I sat on it the indent stayed for the rest of the night, so much for memory foam. Do yourself a favor, sleep in your car. read more

2-stars for the property but 5-stars is for the front desk agent who was so kind and helpful when I checked in. I arrived 2 hours before check-in time and she couldn't have been more accommodating. She deserves a better property. The lobby of the hotel is outstanding. Lovely furniture, a huge fireplace, clean and modern. That's where clean and modern ends. My room was a disappointment. Total 80's. I don't think it's been updated since the property was built. Dated wallpaper with a separate wallpaper accent trim, dirty carpet, dated furniture, and dated bathroom. The mattress on my bed was curling up at the foot of the bed. The room was clean, but worn which made it feel unclean. I encountered one of the housekeepers, and she was really kind. She let me know that my room was ready and she had stocked it with fresh towels. She also deserves a better property. She works hard to clean rooms and service guests, only to have guests think the room is unclean because the room itself is so worn. There is a bistro in the lobby that serves dinner / drinks. They also serve a complementary continental breakfast. There is also a little gift shop that has waters, sodas, snacks, candy, and even toiletries. I went down to the lobby later in the evening and a new front desk agent was help 5 seperate guests at the same time. She was quite busy. I grabbed a snack and a Diet Coke and walked up to the front desk fully prepared to wait for her to finish with her guests before helping me. She looked over, saw what I had selected, and asked if I wanted to charge to my room. I said yes and gave her my room#. She said, "I got you". I was pleasantly suprised to not have to wait. Shutters, you have great staff. Fix your hotel. I'm hoping that the obvious tasteful remodel of the lobby will continue up all floors to include all rooms. It is sorely needed and It would need to happen to get me to return. read more

After driving for more than six hours we were greeted by a young girl at the front desk that said the hotel was sold out and a football team would be there that night selling out the hotel. We booked the end of July through Shutters hotel for two nights and today is 9/15/23! She said the football team and coaches would get the upper floor we wanted to rest and stay in peace she said well the football team has been coming for years! So our 2 night was implied and told well you can go somewhere else and we can cancel. We did not want to stay on the 1st floor to hear thumping running around with teenagers having a party while we were trying to rest from a month cross country trip! Shutters front desk could careless about our business or peace or comfort! The front desk girl never stopped talking kept making excuses and insulted us with lame excuses why that football team was coming for years she had no brains about business or customer service she blamed every thing on me! All I wanted was to be able to sleep and rest for two days The rude young man with glasses told us to go buy a RV if we wanted quiet. My husband and I are senior citizens and then the punk threaten my husband. Basically they told us they could rent our room out for more today than we paid for the end of July when we booked so they could care less about our business or comfort! We don't recommend this place because the staff is disrespectful and had excuse after excuse why the football team took presidence over us! Shutters Hotel in Elko does not have any manners and is disrespectful we left and couldn't believe in all our travels that we were treated like trash. We are retired and have been all over the beautiful USA and world! They talked over you and kept making excuses piss poor attitudes, piss poor manners, and never ever experienced anything like this! They lied and would not give names or numbers for the manager nor the owner. Something is wrong when you cannot get past a front desk clerk or garbage man. read more

For the most part, good experience, staff was friendly , check in easy and front desk person very nice, comfortable clean quiet room, my only issue was with the check out process, the QR code on the key card envelope wasn't active, checkout through the guest services screen on TV wasn't active, front desk clerk is also the person serving the hot breakfast, overall it took over 30 min to be able to check out, ridiculous that they have one person doing both breakfast and front desk, front desk person also told me that QR code and self checkout had never been set up by mgmt, so those options need be removed, my word of advise, don't attempt to checkout during the hours of 6-9 when they are serving breakfast unless you want to wait a long time. This would be five stars if not for the inconvenience of check out, probably won't stay again because of this, to many other option in town now. read more

Pleasant bistro-style restaurant in the lobby of the Shutters Hotel. It's the kind of place that you find in a big hotel where the restaurant is "nice," rather than "diner" or "super-fancy" and where there's some expectation that you want a drink with your meal. If you held a convention here, this would be a perfectly nice place to eat mango chicken sandwiches with your colleagues, and the ones who are tired of networking can admire the view. I had a spicy pasta dish that's not on the current online menu, as chicken pasta with spicy cream sauce is pretty good no matter who does it. This version ascended beyond "pretty good," due to generous inclusion of shrimp and sausage. I would eat this again. Presentation is lovely, service is nice -- if you want to feel gently upscale without engaging with a casino, this works quite well. read more

Booked a room and they gave me a room that a family was already in. I understand mistakes happen but then someone tried to come in my room at midnight that same day. No room cleaning for 5 days and I even put a note on the door asking for someone to take out my overflowing trash and never happened. I don't recommend this place. read more

I was 2 hours out of Elko and called for information on a room and to check if they were dog friendly. The gentleman I talked to in my initial call had to call me back after he spoke to the Manager about my 8lb dog. He did call back and said the Manager authorized our dog to stay because she was under 10 lbs and is a Shih Tzu. When we arrived I waited in line for 15 minutes only to be told they would not allow us to stay there with our dog. I was a little upset after have been given prior authorization AND they had my phone number to call me back to tell me otherwise. I get it if they are not dog friendly, however, the "front desk" manager did not want to hear if my dog was a service dog or emotional support animal, in fact she was very short with me and rude. I feel they should spend some time with their employees on customer service. We could have saved all of us some time had they called me back or given the correct info in the original call back. Now we are spending our money down the street at the Best Western, a comfortable room with my service dog! read more

The main lobby is clean but that is the only pro, the bed was hard and pillows were flat, the paint on the pool was peeling, the wifi was so bad, and in the pool i found multiple cockroaches and Cow Killers (with the 2nd most painful sting in the world) in and out of the pool. I have stayed here four times now and each time it was worse and worse. When I got to my room I started unpacking I could smell cat urine. I thought well in the seven years I've had my cats they have never done that pees on anything they weren't supposed to. So I smelled every article they brought my bags and it was not coming from my stuff or myself. I'm out here training someone for work I went to turn the light off in my room so I can leave and I turned around seeing a cat turd in the floor of my room. I went to work came back as I came back I told the cleaning lady and brought her in the room and showed her. Went to the front desk I asked for a room change in the woman behind the desk was very short with me. I told her I didn't want to be near the elevator because I sleep during the day it was too much noise by the elevator. I also asked her if I could please be on the other side of the hotel so that when I look out the window I'm not staring at a wall. She informed me they did not have a room on the other side of the hotel and then proceeded to give me a room right next to the elevator. As a moving my things up another floor which I asked not to remove Gerard elevator started to close as I was taking my bags out of the elevator I put a bag in front of the door I hope it would not move and the elevator continued to close on me aggressively it was all I could do with the whole elevator open. As of who in the elevator open wondering how I'm gonna get the rest of my bags out a lady comes up and starts yelling to close the door the elevator I explain her my things are on elevator I need help to get them off The elevator.. I told her I shouldn't have to move my things right now but there was cat urine and cat feces in my room. She said yelling at me telling me I probably brought the cat in and I told her how ridiculous she sounds. Finally I got my things off the elevator and went to that evening I decided to go to the hot tub and relax so I was in the hot tub relaxing with my eyes clothes and that same woman from the elevator came and shove me told me I had to leave the hotel because I slept in the hot hot tub. Very aggressive should've been standing behind her to back her up I suppose I grab my things off the chair walked to the stairs and she told Amanda stay there not to follow me in the stairwell. I went to my room I was upset lay down I fell asleep since I had no sleep all day and I missed work that night the next morning I was downstairs in the farm for me I had to leave because of people in that pool area thought I was dead the people there very rude they don't clean the rooms obviously if there's a cat feces in the middle of my room they made it seem like I put it there and use the ho hot tub as an excuse to kick me out. I would never go to Sacha again ever the rooms are dirty floor not vacuumed bathtubs with rings around them but right around the corner there's a beautiful place called home to I went here and there It's a beautiful hotel when you walk in the snow is amazing the rooms are amazing and the people are very friendly so keep going past the shutters take yourself to home 2 read more

What a shame. We've been staying here for years but never again. The past three trips have been a mess. One trip the air conditioner didn't work. The next had a large amount of long black hairs in the shower/bathtub. There was also soap residue on the soap dish in the shower. I contacted the management and they were accommodating and polite to have us moved. The new room was fine for a while...until the moth hatch occurred. At first we had a few moths. After about 15 minutes we had a few dozen moths. The new room also had a refrigerator which was unplugged and puked a bunch water from the door when I opened it because the unit was unplugged and defrosted and leaked water on the floor. Unfortunately the place has fallen from our good grace. Look elsewhere. read more

The service was great, she was very good very attentive and caring of my order, but when it came to my burger I ordered, more than half the ingredients were missing. I ordered a medium rare burger and I got a hockey puck.. the bun was rock hard. I couldn't even take more than two bites out of it. Very disappointed in the quality of my food. We had witnessed some hostility coming from the cook every time she left the kitchen giving us dirty looks as if we had done something to her. We ordered a burger to go and it was burnt as well, we were hoping to enjoy this restaurant for how it was hyped up to be.
