You get what you pay for. Pros: 1. Location - it's practically in the Coushatta parking lot. 2. Price - half the price than the Coushatta hotels. 3. Staff - very friendly. 4. Shower - greatness! Cons: 1. Reservations - nowhere on my reservation did it say "smoking" room. 2. Smell - since we were stuck in a smoking room, it smelled horrible. No bueno for non smokers. 3. Outdated - needs a makeover badly. 4. Breakfast - not too good but at least they had one. 5. Safety - didn't feel that safe being on the first floor with an exterior window that didn't lock. It is easy to find, has a shuttle to the casino running about every 15 minutes, but an easy walk if you don't want to wait for the shuttle.. Rooms were a little dingy and dirty, but not unlivable. We were there for a concert and didn't spend much time in the room anyway.. Advertises free wifi, but we couldn't get any signal on the 3rd floor. read more

Nice, clean rooms and amazing staff. Very friendly and accommodating. This is probably the most accommodating motel I've ever stayed in. Most don't care about customers or their problems, but they helped me work out the best deal for my money. Everyone in the motel was very nice too. They also have free breakfast, which is another bonus. I will absolutely stay here again when I play at the Coushatta. read more

Surprisingly pleased with this place. Very friendly and fun staff when we checked in. Very close to Coushatta and they have shuttles that run continuously every twenty minutes or so. Rooms are good sized and beds quite comfortable. They had a decent breakfast buffet too. All in all, would stay here again, good choice if you wanna gamble a bit and can't get a room at the casino. read more

We booked a jacuzzi suite for a weekend here and it was great. The rooms and lobby look newly renovated. Ms. Pat at the front desk was the sweetest! Not only did she give us a discount, but I mentioned that I was looking for the best gumbo in town and she recommended restaurants for us to go to. Then the next day she had a new jar of gumbo roux for me to take home and cook with! Our room was actually a living room/kitchenette separated from the bedroom/bathroom by a door. The couch pulls out to an extra bed. The oversized bathroom had a huge jetted tub for 2 was separated from the bathroom by French doors. My husband and I each had a basket in the bathroom full of toiletries and slippers! The TV had 600+ channels of cable shows. The king bed was super comfy. Black out curtains allowed us to sleep in. Great A/C unit in the room that you control. They have a complimentary breakfast but we never made it up there in time. There's ice, snack, and drink machines on the premises along with an outdoor pool. Plenty parking. 24/7 free shuttle to the casino next door. read more

WARNING PLEASE READ BEFORE STAYING I'm so upset with the way this hotel is ran. When attempting to shower, we noticed that the shower head was no longer functioning, and naturally upon this realization we consulted management hoping that they could address our issue. When management sent up a rep. and she determined that the shower head was no longer functioning, she responded curtly with "Well, it's not working" and left with no further correspondence regarding a room relocation or even a partial refund. We notified the booking agency, booking.com, to which they said the hotel management would call us regarding a refund at 7am. The following morning, with no call, we go downstairs attempting to resolve the issue and were met with disrespectful and rude customer service. After several minutes of conversation with management with no other reason besides disagreeing with us, called the Coushatta police and had them ask us to leave. The entire experience was not only frustrating, but EXTREMELY embarrassing and disrespectful. Best Western needs to seriously consider reevaluating this hotel's staffing on the front end. read more

Great alternative to staying at the casino. It can be a little cheaper than the casino's hotels and is pretty nice. A breakfast is included and there is a shuttle than runs to the casino every 15-20 minutes. Friendly staff and overall, very clean. read more

First room I stayed in had hair on the bed sheets and on the box spring (which was oddly misaligned with the bed, causing it to stick out past the mattress). I called the front desk and they offered to move me into another room, which had spiders (daddy long-legs) all along the ceiling to the (facing the bed) left of the bed. I didn't want to continue to play musical rooms, since it was pretty late at night and we had been driving all day, so I went down to the front desk and asked if they had any bug spray, which they didn't. So I asked if they had something that I could use to better reach them (fearing that if I used a chair or something I'd have to get pretty close to them to eradicate them and I hate spiders). So we settled on a broom. After using a broom to eradicate the spiders, I went ahead and checked the bed for hairs (or spiders) and the coast looked cleared so I settled in, unpacked, turned on the tv and climbed into bed and not even 5 minutes into settling in I swore I saw something moving out of the corner of my eye so I flicked on the light next to me and sure enough theres a spider crawling just about over my head on the ceiling. So I went and got the broom and proceeded to take that one out as well. When it comes to hotels I don't give passes on cleanliness because I have to believe those spiders (and that hair) just didn't appear there, rather whoever is cleaning that floor (because it's most likely the same person) is doing a shoddy job. The vending machines on the first floor (to the right of the front desk) was not taking any money, which is a sign that the machine is either full or out of stock on just about everything. The breakfast bar in the morning was nice (especially the waffle maker), although it was weird that they didn't have any bacon (sausage only) to go along with the eggs. This place was a lot cheaper than a lot of the other hotels around it, but considering the look of the hotel, you can tell its quite dated and they've tried to do some renovations to it to keep up with a lot of the newer (I'm sure, more modern looking) hotels in the area. There was a full day where the shuttles completely were not running to this hotel, which was weird because they told us upon check-in that they do regular pass-bys and it would seem (if you're Coushatta) it would be in your best interest to just run shuttles by to check either way because its bringing more potential business into your casino. We were told we could also go to a pool party event that they were throwing at Coushatta's, but when we tried to go they refused to allow us entry telling us that we had to get passes from the front desk of BW which they knew nothing about). read more

Just spent two nights at Best Western at Coushatta. I'll start with the staff was very friendly and the hotel was clean. Now the odd. The faucet in the bathroom was plumbed backwards. Although it was labeled the hot was on the right and cold on the left. Just odd. Our room never got made up after our first night so we had to request fresh towels. Also on second day our card keys both stopped working. Clerk said it could have been them in our purses by our cell phones but I really think the clerk who checked us in didn't program them for our two nights. Had an issue on the rate with Best Western customer service before we even arrived. Took two phone calls to get it worked out as first phone clerks attitude was pretty much i was just out of luck but I called back and second operator was more customer focused. Not a bad experience but not the best either so can't bring myself to go more than three stars. read more

Read entire story My family and I spent this past weekend in Louisiana for our family trip. It was terrible all thanks to the Best Western Hotels & Resorts and Best Western Inn at Coushatta (Kinder, LA). It first started Friday when we arrived at the hotel to check in for a booking I personally made 2 weeks prior without issue. They proceeded to tell me how they over booked and only had the room I requested for one night and the next they could give me a down graded option. I'm immediately upset especially after driving 6 hours to get there. The girl whom took the reservations was behind the desk and says "Oh yea I took those reservations and forgot to enter them into the system sorry ". So we take the room for the first night but made sure to get corporates number which we later find out was the wrong number by far. It was for technical support for a non BW company All was well until I get a bill slipped under my door for almost 200$ with fees added on charging me for both nights so now I'm furious once again. The next morning she fixes the bill but then tells me all they have is a junior suite but it's in smoking (All 3 of my kids have asthma and the entire city of Kinder was booked for the night) so I take it. We get to the room go to the casino for a few hours then come back. I sit my 3 year old on the bed and he starts screaming almost instantly. I pick him up and that's when my husband notices FIRE ANTS ALL OVER THE BED, PILLOWS, FLOOR. The bed hasn't even been touched by us prior. We just put out suitcases in the room and left when we checked in earlier. I call the front desk very upset and she gives me attitude and tells me "Let me speak to my manager." Then hung up on me not even letting me tell my whole story. We wait 30mins while tryin to find a new room which btw at this point it was almost 1am. The font desk calls us back to tell us they are fully booked they can refund us but we just needed to leave. AT 1:30 in the morning with my 3 young very tired children. We packed our stuff and then drove another hour to the nearest available which happened to be another best western hotel. We arrive there after I spoke to the front desk there and they New our situation. The main doors were locked so I knocked and this woman comes and starts yelling at me about being there. "Who are you?! I am really busy and we don't allow people in this late!" After I say who I am and that I had just spoken to her she lets me in. As she's checking me in she's yelling at me about how I interrupted what she had going on and I'm lucky she could help me I was so tired and so angry at now almost 3am that I had no energy to argue. As I'm waiting on her some guest that are already staying there had lost their key and just needed in their room. She proceeded to yell at them in front of me about how it's ridiculous that we are bothering her when she has so much going on and if they can't get in their room it's their problem not hers. After I get my keys and start walking down the hall to my room I noticed the bathroom for the guests by the front desk had the door propped open and a flat iron and make up all laid out. That ladies and gentlemen was what she was upset about all of us interrupting. This woman was doing her hair and makeup on shift my husband and I get up to the room and realized we needed a roll out bed for one of our kids so I asked the woman working about getting one. She had absolutely no idea why I would request that and even tried to argue that hotels don't provide those or even cribs here we are at about 4am and completely over the day and she comes up to our room banging on the door after we just got our children settled. Which btw I had to put my 3 year old on a chair with an ottoman to sleep because there wasn't enough sleeping space. She hands us a pillow and blanket to make one of them a pallet on the floor At this point I just took the stuff and was about to close the door until my husband realized that the ceiling fan in the room wasn't working and so he asked the women if there was a different switch to turn it on, she answered his like he was the stupid one "No it works, see!" She hits the switch and what do you know it's not working. She says "Oh it's not working ok let me figure out another room for y'all I guess." Ok at this point I made her leave and said whatever we just need to go to bed. The next morning checking out I asked for a manager from the new girl working and there isn't one on site and she says she can't help me with refunds or anything. Today being Monday we are home back in Austin now and I was able to get the proper number to corporate and the women we spoke to with about the entire weekend was can you believe it JUST AS RUDE AS ALL THE REST OF THE HOTEL EMPLOYEES WE HAD TO DEAL WITH THIS WEEKEND. She couldn't provide me any help and told me she would send the file back to the Cashatta location and they would have to resolve it with me and for the one in Lafayette read more

We came in town for a weekend at the Coushatta Casino. With no rooms available at the Coushatta hotels, we noticed Best Western nearby and booked the room for the weekend. The rates were definitely cheaper than the Coushatta hotels, however the quality did not disappoint! The staff was extremely friendly from the moment we walked in and always greeted us with a smile and a hello. Getting to the casino is simple! There is a shuttle that runs 24 hours a day on a very regular schedule. You can always have the front desk give the shuttle a call and they will be there to pick you up in no time. The room was a pleasant surprise. I haven't stayed at a Best Western before, but I can tell you I will definitely be back to this one! By the way, this hotel is pet friendly which is a huge plus for me. There is a great area for your pup to "do their business". 5 out of 5, I would definitely recommend Best Western Coushatta! read more

Was in town for a family funeral and had reservations days in advance ahead of the services. Jennifer helped me get an early check in by 4 hours and greeted me when I told her whom I was. This lady is truly an angel, and was so very kind and sympathetic with my reservation requests. She even called to inform us that a spare car key was accidentally left in the room within an hour and a half of checking out. The hotel was clean, staff extremely courteous and amenities were top notch. Will be staying here again with my family in the future hopefully under better circumstances. read more

I have stayed at this hotel several times and it never disappoints. The desk clerks go out of their way to be very helpful and always cheerful and polite. The breakfast is great! Rooms are clean and quite. And did I say cheaper than the casino??? Keep up the great work!! read more

I stayed at this hotel about 2 weeks ago. Upon checking in, everything seemed just fine. The staff was super friendly, and very helpful. It's when I got in to the room, that things started to go downhill. 1. There was a feces stain on the front of the toilet, right under the lid. 2. I stepped on a large bobby pin that had been left by previous guests. 3. I was staying in a non-smoking room, however, I found a cigarette butt, along the box of the bed. The bobby pin and the cigarette butt probably wouldn't have turned me off as badly, but I think that the feces on the front of the toilet bowl grossed me out so bad, anything at that point would have annoyed me. The very next day, I stayed at a hotel in Galveston that was delightfully clean, and I paid a little less to stay there. This hotel needs to step up their "cleanliness" game before I would recommend any of my friends or family to stay there. read more
