It was just OK and had a number of issues. If I were to go to the area again, I would choose a different place. First, this is a motel, not a hotel. The rooms face the parking lot, which can occasionally be noisy and there is no elevator to the second floor. There is plenty of easy parking, and it's in a safe area surrounded by a large lawn and woods. You can walk to Peach Park, a popular venue that offers a limited menu of barbecue items as well as ice cream and pie. Next to it are swings, outdoor tables, and a children's playground. However, this motel kept surprising us on the downside. First, the room smelled like it had been fumigated with air freshener. We had to prop the door open for a few hours to clear that out. Second, it did not come with soap/shampoo dispensers or even small bottles of it. We had to go to the front desk to ask for that. Third, the water was just warm enough for a shower but not for a bath, and the toilet ran all night. By my standards, the beds were also a bit hard. Staff were helpful, but every time you go into the front-desk and common area a loud bell goes off, I suppose to let attendants know someone came in, but it's annoying and too loud. The breakfast looked pretty standard for these types of hotels and I saw others eating it, but I wanted something better and went out. Pro tip: If you stay here, walk down the hill to nearby Peach Park for ice cream and pie and swing on the outdoor swing. A pleasant experience. Also, for breakfast, drive to Shoney's (not too far). Terrible hotel. No elevator, deplorable accommodations. Smells like cigarette smoke. Poor lighting, couldn't figure out shower. Just overall gross. I called the front desk to report the chair and they said I wouldn't get charged for it? WTF why is that gross chair in the room in the first place. Come on BW do better this isn't ok! read more

Worst possible experience. Go anywhere else. Managed poorly. A "not our fault" style operation.

I made a reservation for two queen beds, and it was confirmed. When I arrived the manager had changed the reservation to one king bed. I was traveling with an old friend and we do not share a bed. In all my years of traveling this was a first. DO NOT MAKE RESERVATIONS AT THIS MOTEL. THEY CAN CHANGE. My friend and I went next door to a Holiday Inn who, thankfully, had rooms. I WILL NEVER STAY AT ANOTHER BEST WESTERN. I THINK THE MANAGER SHOULD BE FIRED AND THE NAME CHANGED TO WORST WESTERN. read more

It's like a Motel 6 in that you drive up to your room door to park. That can be good or bad... convenient, but you will hear slamming car doors into the wee hours, depending upon the nocturnal activities of your neighbors. The rooms are kind of basic, like an M6, as well. Pros: * Comfy beds, lots of pillows. * M/W, mini-fridge, coffee pot. * Lots of lighting, fast, stable WiFi, lots of premium TV channels. Good to know: * They do serve morning b'kfast from 6-10am if you want to walk around the hotel or drive to the lobby... there's no interior way of making your way to the b'kfast room. I didn't indulge... I assumed it would be cold basics (sugar-laden muffins & cereal), so didn't bother. * Vending/soda machines are also in the lobby, so in cold weather, it's not really convenient. * It doesn't feel like an unsafe area, but the front desk has plexiglass all around & you even have to slide your cards underneath a small opening. There's also a night window as the lobby is locked & closed at a certain hour. I guess there's reason for it, but it made me feel I was checking into a low-rent motel. Cons: * For my room, the wall heater took well over 40-min to thoroughly heat the room. Truth be told, I checked in on a cold evening with a freeze warning in effect & the unit was off, so I was heating it from frozen to comfy. Once heated, it was great. Bonus is the unit stays on consistently... it doesn't clunk off-on-off all night long. I know I could have called to front desk to ask if it were normal or if I could switch rooms, but... I was burnt after 2-wks on the road & it all worked out in the end. * Cost... $160 is a bit high for basically a slightly upscale M6. 3* It wasn't awful, but $160 is a bit high for a basic motel room. Seemed quiet & safe, so I would stay again, if in the area, but would probably try something else. An M6 is not far away, btw... you don't get the TV stations & the nightly cost is 1/2. read more

The first time, I stayed here Holiday Inn Express was full. The second time was by choice. The checkin was friendly, the beds were comfy and well made. There were four nice pillows on each bed made for a comfortable stay. The bathrooms were clean. Breakfast was like any hotel breakfast bar but it was kept clean and well stocked. (Didn't run out of coffee!) I wish they had half and half. They had coffee mate in different flavors but I like mine plain. The only unpleasant part was when the folks next door showed up. The kids were playing, yelling and chasing each other outside our door. We opened the twice. After 11, I opened the curtains to see a kid filling a large squirt gun with Coke. I thought about what that could do to my paint job. I opened the door and spoke to them. They moved around the corner and things became quiet. I wish the hotel had put them further away but understand why they would want the used rooms together. This is in no way reflective of the hotel. I have been staying in a hotel for $350 a night and this one didn't have a bellman or concierge but I'll take it. read more

Very good standard Best Western Inn motel. Two story, no elevator. Request a ground floor room if you don't want to tote your luggage up an outdoor stairwell. We checked in on a 25 degree Fahrenheit afternoon. The heat was completely turned off in our room. I then turned it all the way up. My wife wore her coat until bedtime, by which time the temperature in the room was up to 65 degrees. Yes, we're in an upstairs room. Apparently, the downstairs room we would have gotten -- and six other rooms -- are unavailable tonight. That's because some plumbing froze last night, and busted. My wife says she can understand how that happened! read more

Not trying to be a snot but I travel and travel a lot. We LOVE Peach Park so we decided to stop on our way to Florida for the night. We stopped around midnight and the rate was 97. I understand it is what it is but $ for value just wasn't there. Sadly it came down to the little things for me. We hadn't planned to stop so I thought I would just use their toiletries for the most part and hit the road. While they supply the little paper bags for sanitary items (hadn't seen those in years) there was no Conditioner and the shampoo left my hair matted and dry. There was lotion and a separate face bar which I didn't feel were as important and actually with the regular soap while I did use a lotion I had because it left my skin abnormally dry, the face bar just hadn't been needed. OJ machine was malfunctioning at breakfast. There was nothing about this hotel that commanded over a 75. a night room rate at best. read more

Night lady was so rude. Just needed a couple hours sleep. Needed a room. NO best western deal there. You lost me as a customer.

You know, we've been coming down to Peach Park for years now. At some point, we decided to stay the night there and head over the next day. Up until this morning, everything was lovely. Even Heather, the evening front desk person last night, was wonderful! And then, this morning, as we get ready to leave, out comes a little bug. I asked my family "What's that?", and so begins our first ever bed bug situation. Room #124. We frantically looked in the creases and sheets. Naturally, we immediately alert the front desk. They just didn't seem to care. No apologies, $30 back, but nothing more to alleviate the stress, and a complacent reaction in response to my dad's anger. The cleaning lady was kinder than whoever it was at the counter. We will have to call corporate and tell them about the carelessness of the management of this facility. Hopefully they can make this crappy situation better. But thanks for the black trash bags...jerks. read more

The room looked nice when you walk in. But then I found a dirty bath towel hanging in the bathroom. Totally grossed me out. Guess the bathroom didn't get cleaned. Heat never turns off so you have to get up all nite manually turning it off and on. And the bed is so hard like sleeping on the floor. My suggestion. Go to another hotel. read more

My recommendation - Avoid If At All Possible! If you're shopping for a 2.5 Star Hotel or greater near Clanton, drive a little further on 65 in either direction. You'll be glad you did! Apparently the 2.5 Star Holiday Inn Express is also owned/operated by the same team as this BW. The old adage " you pay for what you get" certainly applies here. In fact you may leave feeling like you paid to be harassed as I was. The rooms are modest, but you pay for what you get. Wasn't expecting much from a BW to begin with. Just a clean place to lay our heads while visiting family. My complaint isn't so much about the rooms/hotel as it is the lack of hospitality while there. We inadvertently booked a smoking room, when asked if it could be changed the response was "no, contact the itinerary provider (Priceline) if there is an issue, there's nothing we can do." Without many options, and a need to be in Clanton, we checked into a terribly smoke scented room later to find blood stained sheets on the bed. We called Priceline who contacted the management team, the management team was unwilling to put us into a non-smoking room because we had a 6lb chihuahua with us. There were no more than 12 cars in the parking lot during our time there. We later discovered that pets are permitted in non-smoking rooms. The following morning despite the " Privacy Please" tag on the door we were told that housekeeping MUST come in because we had a dog. They came in, in what appeared to be a brief audit of our room. They changed out some towels then left. We were also told that they had to look through a box of pots and pans in the room that we inherited that were brought to us by a relative staying nearby. We complied. In the end, just a terrible experience, which I understand from other is typical of this location. As an upper middle class family of three, driving a new car, clean, respectful, I felt the experience to be unreasonable and unjustifiable. When we return to Clanton, we will stay in Pratville. read more
