The rooms face the parking lot, which can occasionally be noisy and there is no elevator to the second floor. There is plenty of easy parking, and it's in a safe area surrounded by a large lawn and woods. You can walk to Peach Park, a popular venue that offers a limited menu of barbecue items as well as ice cream and pie. Next to it are swings, outdoor tables, and a children's playground. However, this motel kept surprising us on the downside. First, the room smelled like it had been fumigated with air freshener. We had to prop the door open for a few hours to clear that out. Second, it did not come with soap/shampoo dispensers or even small bottles of it. We had to go to the front desk to ask for that. Third, the water was just warm enough for a shower but not for a bath, and the toilet ran all night. By my standards, the beds were also a bit hard. Staff were helpful, but every time you go into the front-desk and common area a loud bell goes off, I suppose to let attendants know someone came in, but it's annoying and too loud. The breakfast looked pretty standard for these types of hotels and I saw others eating it, but I wanted something better and went out. Pro tip: If you stay here, walk down the hill to nearby Peach Park for ice cream and pie and swing on the outdoor swing. A pleasant experience. Also, for breakfast, drive to Shoney's (not too far). They have a very nice breakfast buffet

Extremely Disappointing Customer Service…read more After driving over 10 hours with two children and two senior adults, we arrived at this Best Western shortly after 11 p.m. completely exhausted. At 10:46 p.m., I had called ahead to confirm that a room with two beds was available, and the woman who answered was very friendly and helpful. When my mother and I arrived, the entrance door was locked. We initially tried the door, then noticed a small sign directing guests to ring a buzzer for overnight service. We did so, and Connie came around the corner visibly annoyed, rolled her eyes, and asked what we wanted in a rude manner. I requested a room with two beds and then asked about a military discount. She rolled her eyes again and gave me a different price. When my mother reached toward her purse, Connie raised her voice and said, "I'm not giving you your discount if she is paying." I understand that there may be rules regarding who must pay for a military discount, but there was absolutely no reason to communicate it in such a disrespectful way. I stepped outside to get my card. While I was gone, my mother said Connie slammed the cover over the service window and walked away. When I returned and asked what the problem was, Connie accused us of trying to open her doors. I explained that we had simply tried the locked entrance before seeing the small buzzer sign--we were not trying to break into the hotel. At that point, the interaction became so unpleasant that we decided to leave. We went next door to the Holiday Inn, where the customer service was excellent. The room was more expensive, but the staff treated us with courtesy and respect. We left our contact information with Best Western the following day and expected a call from management. Several days later, we still had not heard anything. We weren't asking for anything unreasonable--just basic courtesy and, after such an unpleasant experience, a simple phone call and apology. I cannot recommend this hotel based on our experience, especially for anyone arriving late at night. Policies are one thing; treating exhausted guests with unnecessary hostility is another.

John and I spent the weekend in the…read morestunning Buck Creek boutique bed & breakfast this is only 20 minutes south of Birmingham and 2.5 hours from Atlanta. And we think this one is going to charm you! Its southern flare meets modern opulence but has an outdoorsy twist. Epic waterfall views from the balcony, gorgeous decor, spacious bedrooms, lavish kitchen and baths, and it is all within steps of historic downtown Helena! The property is two-story new build has all the amenities from large outdoor yard filled with game and a putting green. A spa hot tub for unwinding. Tables and swings for lounging with views of the creek. A large Firepit and outdoor entertaining space. All with views of the creek! As for our unit, I entered the front door, and my jaw dropped. I followed down a long hall to find a stunning, opulent kitchen with a peninsula with seating for four, large farmhouse sink, and gorgeous grey cabinetry. It opens into the living space with a large couch and two lavish chairs. That opens to the second-floor patio that overlooks the large yard below and a view of Buck Creek and its waterfall. We sat out with champagne for hours chatting and taking in the view. Up the stairs back inside is the cutest children's loft with first mural, bunkbeds, and play area. The two bedrooms are off the main hallway. A charming second bedroom off the primary is spacious and clean. It has a bathroom adjacent with stunning black floor tiling. As for the primary, it is in a league of its own. Large king bed flanked by pendant lighting and a can't miss accent wall with a ton of textures, wood, and color. To the left is the main bathroom with two sink vanity and a walk-in shower. The town is literal steps from our unit; downtown Helena is quintessential southern charm. Quaint downtown dotted with local restaurants and a brewery, shopping, and more! We really liked the Brewery in the heart of old town, downtown Helena, Oversoul Brewing. Good beer and friendly staff with live music for the win.

It has a great view and walking to shops and restaurants. The reason for the 4 star rating is the loud train that passes by regularly day and night and I would not consider this a bed and breakfast. Breakfast is offered at an additional cost and they deliver it to your room beforehand for you to cook after you arrive.
