If the room didn't have a Jacuzzi tub I would have given them two stars. There was no one at the front desk when we arrived. The woman that finally came and checked us in was rude at best. She kept answering the phone while checking us in. She barely spoke English. She had the attitude of a person that hates their job and hates dealing with people. The front desk was left unmanned for about 80% of the time when we passed by there. Even at night the front desk was sometimes left unmanned, so anyone could just come into the hotel at night - a security issue for me. This place is poorly maintained. Here is a list of the obvious problems: 1. Bath tub faucet was so loose I thought it might fall off. 2.The heater apparently was defective or had something dropped into it because it was very loud when operating. 3. The fireplace keep turning off and on. 4. They locked out the USB interface on the TV so you couldn't use a flash drive to play your own movies. I've never seen this at any other hotel. You get stuck watching Direct TV with a brain numbing commercial line up - 10 minutes of movie and 10 to 15 commercials, and this repeats forever. 5. Even the elevator had intermittent floor buttons. You had to press the floor button up to 8 times before the elevator would register the button press. Breakfast was a bit weak. Look at the aged banana they expected you to eat. Now, for the good: 1. Awesome Jacuzzi Tub 2. Nice towels 3. The fireplace (minus the off and on problem) 4. Soft bed

We stayed here because it was recommended for train viewing. That's right I like to see freight trains. Originally asked for the third floor when I made the reservation. Upon arrival I was told only 2nd floor available. Unfortunately couldn't see over the buildings across the street. The bed was OK, the pillows felt like rocks and were very uncomfortable. The walls were thin and I could hear the neighboring rooms occupants talking all night. The rest of the room was fine, clean where it should be clean etc. Came with breakfast of sausage and scramble. No bread or muffins at all. They had breakfast burritos so I unrolled the tortilla and used it as bread. They also had yogurt, bananas, cereal and milk. coffee was good.

I always find it difficult to count on Yelp reviews for lodging. Perhaps it is different expectations of guests regarding the property or cleanliness and comfort of rooms. I looked for some high end places prior to selecting this location, but there really isn't any in this town. By no means is Best Western high end, but selected them for this trip based on many Yelpers reviews. Clean, comfortable, and courteous staff. Sure it had some quirks like the pancake conveyor thingee that wasn't working. Didn't need pancakes, but would have loved to see it in action!

DO NOT STAY HERE! First, when we checked in there was an older woman behind the counter who was screaming at the cleaning staff through a radio for at least 5 mins before even acknowledging us. Then she just stared at me until I said checking in, she rudely demanded my last name and credit card without even telling me the total and didn't check my AAA card. Incredibly rude experience. Our room was disgusting at best. The sheets had mascara and blood stains. The floors were so gross that we wore shoes the whole time. Bathroom floor was so sticky it left footprints. No hand soap was left, only face soap. Towels were so rough they hurt to use. And there was hair EVERYWHERE. In the shower, on the floors. The bed was also harder than a rock and we both woke up in pain. I can't give this a lower rating or I would.

The Fairfield by Mariott Inn & Suites Tehachapi was one of the better options. In their price range, they had the better reviews by compare. Honestly there wasn't a lot of reviews or photos for businesses in this area, so I just made the best decision based on the information I was able to find. Check-in was at 3pm, but we would have to head out around 3:30pm so it would leave us no time to get ready. When I called the hotel, they said to check back at 12noon on the day of the visit because that's when they are able to see the check outs and availability to see if an early check-in was available. On the day of the wedding, I called and they said they can accommodate a 1pm early check-in at no additional cost. Yay! This gave us ample time to settle in and get ready. The room we got was narrow with a lot going on like a long hallway. We came in and there was the bathroom. Hairdryer is provided but it's in the closer. Then there was a semi kitchen area with a microwave and a fridge. This is great because not many hotels have microwaves these days. Then there was a sofa area with a tv. And then finally the bedroom area with another tv. The WORST THING about this hotel is the bed. The metal bed frame stuck out and my boyfriend and I hurt ourselves multiple times bumping into it. Also the bed wasn't too comfortable because my sleep quality was poor and I woke up with back pains. Good thing it was just one day. And the pillows were like small tiny half pillows. My boyfriend joked about shrinkflation. Additionally the walls are thin. You can hear the nearby doors close. So it wasn't the best for resting. Another complaint is that their shower leaks a lot of water from the faucet which wastes water and also gives less water to the showerhead. Total waste. The gym area had minimal equipment. 1 treadmill, 1 elliptical, 1 bike, 1 stairclimber, and 1 weight bench with a weight rack. What really bothered me was that there was no cleaning equipment. I also doubt staff cleans up much because the water was out when we looked on Saturday afternoon and still out Sunday morning. It was still nice to get a work out in. My boyfriend wanted to run in high elevation so he went on the treadmill and I went on the elliptical. They also have an indoor pool that we didn't check out because it was closed on Saturday, during the day time. It's an indoor pool because Tehachapi gets all 4 seasons, including the snowy winter. Breakfast is included. Not the best but edible. Enough to get us started in the morning and make our way in the direction of home. We both ate the scrambled eggs and bacon. The bacon was thin and bland. I actually wished I grabbed less which is rare for me with bacon. My boyfriend had a muffin and he was able to toast it. I had a waffle that was okay but probably been sitting there for a while. We both had orange juice which was definitely watered down from concentrate. Not good enough to get a second cup. My boyfriend also tried their coffee but he said it was bad so I didn't get any. I didn't see any staff at the desk when we checked out and I didn't get any email to self check out so I just left my room keys in a basket of all the other room keys I saw behind the desk. A decent option FOR THE AREA... but I'm not really trying to be in the area if I wasn't obligated to.

We were able to get a AAA discount, which was actually still slightly more than Expedia advertised but my error in just taking it impulsively. The room itself initially wasn't bad with a small couch/separate living room area with fridge/microwave. We liked that we had a king bed, but the pillows were micro size. The absolute worst part was the airconditioner literally blows right into the face of the person next to it. We tried blocking it with the curtain but that was difficult and it was so loud that sleep was awful! So do not expect to get a good night's sleep based on the direction of airflow (which could not be adjusted) and the noise. (Unless you can sleep through anything). The breakfast was fine for a hotel "free" breakfast. I liked that non dairy was offered and various toppings for the oatmeal. It was a good variety of food. Water would have been good, but not avail in that same area. The coffee was watered down. There was someone there cleaning and refilling everything often. We didnt use the pool or jacuzzi. The gym seemed nice and it was "cool" inside during this hot summer weather. The hotel itself was clean and nicely decorated.

I'm giving five stars because overall it met our needs over multiple stays in Fall 2025…read more We have stayed at this hotel three times over multiple days within the last seven weeks due to family emergencies in the area. The first time we stayed; the lounger in the room was stained with a less than sanitary look. It was hidden by the table so you couldn't see the stain until you walked around to go to the window. It was taken care of by the staff and they replaced it with a more acceptable lounger. Each time we have stayed; it was very comfortable after long days. The water pressure in the showers is good. The soap, shampoo and conditioner is by Dove. The hallway rugs definitely need to be cleaned more or replaced. The breakfast in the morning was a nice perk. The Starbucks across the street was convenient too. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The only thing to look at is the alarm clock in the room. It kept going off at midnight and I couldn't figure out how to not have it go off so I changed the alarm to go off during a time we weren't in the room.

Unfortunately, my interaction with Dani, the girl that answered the phone today completely changed that. I simply needed to "request a bed change" for a reservation that's still three weeks away. Since we booked through Hotels.com, they directed us to call the hotel directly. When we did, Danni immediately told us, "They lied to you, they scammed you and I can't do anything about this. You need to go back to them," in a very harsh and dismissive tone and we hung up. So we again contacted Hotels.com, and they once again instructed me to call the hotel because it was a simple bed change request. When I called the hotel back, Danni answered again. Her attitude was just as rude and unhelpful as before, and I told what we were trying simply change the bed from a king to two queens, and as someone in customer service, if she could try to help me that would be appreciated.... she got really snotty with me, and started talking me in a very sarcastic tone, and became very dismissive and even more rude than she was the first time! I have NEVER written review --but this experience was so shocking, and I felt others should know about the customer service that could have been an easy assist! I've been a loyal guest for years and have never been treated this way by the staff. I understand that employees have policies they must follow, but there's a big difference between saying "I'm sorry to hear this, here's what I can do to try to assist you today" but speaking to a loyal guest in a dismissive, confrontational, snotty manner is so unprofessional and a hotel as large as Holiday Inn. Dani could benefit from additional customer service training in how to treat paying customers with very simple requests, with some professional communication. I sincerely hope management addresses this, along with her rude attitude, because the hotel itself has been a place I've enjoyed staying in the past.

The hotel was conveniently located about halfway through our trip, was one of the first options recommended on the Amex Travel website, and the price was reasonable, so we booked it without hesitation. After a long day of driving with our young child, we finally settled into our room and were ready to get some much-needed sleep. That's when we discovered what appeared to be bed bugs crawling on the bed. It was absolutely disgusting and incredibly upsetting, especially after such a long drive. The last thing any family should have to worry about is the cleanliness and safety of their hotel room. We took photos of the bed bugs as evidence and contacted American Express the following day to file a formal complaint. I expected much higher standards from a hotel offered through American Express Travel. Cleanliness is the most basic expectation of any hotel, and this experience fell far below that standard. I sincerely hope the hotel takes immediate action to thoroughly inspect and treat its rooms so other guests don't have to go through the same experience. If you're considering staying here, I strongly recommend inspecting your room and bedding carefully before unpacking or getting into bed. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this hotel.
