We stayed here 1 night for a business trip. All of the staff we interacted with were friendly: front desk, maintenance, housekeeping. Property was clean. We had a king bedroom on the first floor. We parked on the side close to the building. Breakfast was ok, nothing special but perfect to get us out the door. The pool - hot tub area was nice. It was nice to relax on the lounges by the pool. Would stay here again. It's a short walk to railroad museum or shopping. Please remember to tip housekeeping. read more

Sunday night 11 pm came into room with A/C unit on again very noisy. Was not able to turn unit off. Desk said no maintenance available. WE unplugged it per front desk recommendation. If the room didn't have a Jacuzzi tub I would have given them two stars. There was no one at the front desk when we arrived. The woman that finally came and checked us in was rude at best. She kept answering the phone while checking us in. She barely spoke English. She had the attitude of a person that hates their job and hates dealing with people. The front desk was left unmanned for about 80% of the time when we passed by there. Even at night the front desk was sometimes left unmanned, so anyone could just come into the hotel at night - a security issue for me. This place is poorly maintained. Here is a list of the obvious problems: 1. Bath tub faucet was so loose I thought it might fall off. 2.The heater apparently was defective or had something dropped into it because it was very loud when operating. 3. The fireplace keep turning off and on. 4. They locked out the USB interface on the TV so you couldn't use a flash drive to play your own movies. I've never seen this at any other hotel. You get stuck watching Direct TV with a brain numbing commercial line up - 10 minutes of movie and 10 to 15 commercials, and this repeats forever. 5. Even the elevator had intermittent floor buttons. You had to press the floor button up to 8 times before the elevator would register the button press. Breakfast was a bit weak. Look at the aged banana they expected you to eat. Now, for the good: 1. Upon arrival I was told only 2nd floor available. Unfortunately couldn't see over the buildings across the street. The bed was OK, the pillows felt like rocks and were very uncomfortable. The walls were thin and I could hear the neighboring rooms occupants talking all night. The rest of the room was fine, clean where it should be clean etc. Came with breakfast of sausage and scramble. The place was very empty but the patio I got was all solid walls around it (unlike the ones I saw) so if you sit down, you're just staring at walls. No staff around except the check in person who is there sometimes and she was not rude but not friendly at all. I also feel I was way overcharged. I always find it difficult to count on Yelp reviews for lodging. Perhaps it is different expectations of guests regarding the property or cleanliness and comfort of rooms. I looked for some high end places prior to selecting this location, but there really isn't any in this town. My dad had made the arrangements on booking.com, paid with his cc (or so he thought) and all I had to do was check in...wrong! Kid at the front desk took my card and ID, with no explanation (thought it was for the security deposit & check in) and ran my card for $146. Handed me the receipt & I asked what this was for and if I was going to get it back, but he said, nope, he was charging me for the room and they aren't able to charge the person who made the reservation since they weren't present. Alright then, what was the point of the booking.com reservation then? Room was comfortable. Fairly clean with a coffee maker with decent coffee. No vending machines, drinks or snacks in the lobby. Centrally located right across from the trains, and walking distance to a gas station and a burger King. In a really great location to the adorable town of Tehachapi and the main drag Close to antique shops and a few restaurants (give red house BBQ or Konans for a good bakery) Was decent for a 1 night stay before heading back to SFV, but surprisingly expensive for the no frills, and whatever customer service. DO NOT STAY HERE! First, when we checked in there was an older woman behind the counter who was screaming at the cleaning staff through a radio for at least 5 mins before even acknowledging us. Then she just stared at me until I said checking in, she rudely demanded my last name and credit card without even telling me the total and didn't check my AAA card. Incredibly rude experience. Our room was disgusting at best. The sheets had mascara and blood stains. The floors were so gross that we wore shoes the whole time. Bathroom floor was so sticky it left footprints. No hand soap was left, only face soap. Towels were so rough they hurt to use. And there was hair EVERYWHERE. In the shower, on the floors. The bed was also harder than a rock and we both woke up in pain. I can't give this a lower rating or I would. read more

My wife & I stayed in the 4 of July past for one night. We made a reservation weeks in advance and on their questioning we asked for a room that would by location be quieter. We arrive @ check in time and the lady at the check in was depressing. No Hi no smiles: ok she has to work on the holiday. Get to our 2nd room & it's directly across from the elevator and room was still not clean. Two strikes. I go back downstairs and mentioned the issue to "sour face" room not ready for us. No apology no smiles and she checks her computer and gives us another room same floor. Ok it's ready but next to soda & ice machine. At this point tired after driving for 5 hours. The review is 3 stars because te room is very clean, comfortable beds, refrig & even a ceiling fan. Morning hot breakfast was awful: powered scrambled eggs and luck warm scrabble. I threw it out it was so poor and I was hungry. BTW all water bottles is 3 soda machines was sold out so had to go to store to get some. Giving it 2 stars but probably could have been 4 is the service component was better. Best Western Plus I think not. read more

Worst experience with hotel management EVER. Long story short, the hotel charged me 1 night as a no-show although we were there the entire stay. Attempted to resolve the issue with the hotel directly, however, they would never call me back. Contacted Best Western corporate office and they agreed that it was the hotel error. Corporate confirmed in their reservation system that the error occurred during check-in. Refunds must be done by the hotel directly so calls from corporate office did not help. Corporate did what they could to compensate me and said they would be charging the hotel for it. read more

It's not that it's bad, but it's way overpriced for what it is. This place was one of the only few places with vacancy during a snowstorm. On yelp, their cheapest room was $165 for a single king size bed but they tried to upsell me to rooms over $200. Only after I pressed them about the king did they admit to having it. The room was freeeeeeeezing when we got there. Had to take a hot shower to warm up, though that also took ages to heat up. There were only two tv options: news or infomercials. They never gave us the Wi-Fi password. Breakfast was bleak. Again, for half the price, I'd be fine, but not for this literal highway robbery. For the record, $165 buys you a night in a nice hotel in Chicago, so for this, it's obscene. read more

I wasn't sure I was going to post this review and then I saw that a year before we were there, one person noted that the pancake machine in the breakfast area was not functioning. Well, it also wasn't functioning when we were there and we saw a woman who appeared to be the morning manager of the hotel walking by the machine several times with its "fault" light flashing, showing no care whatsoever. Apparently she didn't give a sh__ that they were not providing what they promised. (Actually I think she was the owner - she stat down later with a man who appeared to be his son and and a small kid who appeared to be her grandson and they all helped themselves to breakfast before she returned to the front desk). I wonder if the just leave the machine there to make it look like they provide pancakes, but never actually get it working. This was just the final straw in a one night stay that showed us the management of this hotel is incompetent. The front desk clerk at check in was curt and clearly unhappy with his job. The first room we were assigned was filthy so we changed rooms - the second also had some dirt on the bedspreads. IMHO, this hotel is owned by people who are happy to take your money but don't show much concern about providing a three star experience. read more

Don't stay at this hotel unless you want your money stolen by the theiving management. 3 weeks ago, I checked in for a 3-night stay. I finished my business in two days. Went to the front desk to check out a day early (an hour before daily checkout time). There was no one at the desk, just a note saying that they would return later. That's right--an unstaffed front desk at 10AM on a weekday. Anyway, I wrote a note on one of their business cards saying I was checking out a day early. I put my 2 card keys with the note and left. I called the next day, and was told that they had seen no such note and that I was being charged for the full 3 days. These people straight-up STOLE my money and then implied I was lying. Also, be aware that the cleaning staff does not wear masks. You or your grandmother may die if you stay at this hotel. I'm moving to Tehachapi (house hunting was the reason for my trip there), and I will never miss an opportunity to tell visiting guests and my fellow Tehachapians that this hotel is run by stealing filth. I PROMISE I'll cost them a lot more than the $120 or so they stole from me. If you like being exposed to deadly viruses while management steals from you, this may be your hotel. When we arrived at the hotel, the front desk clerk was cold, bordering on rude. The hotel was having some parking lot paving done. She slid a paper in front of me about parking restrictions and pointed to it. I gently said "oh, I parked over there *pointing* is that ok?" She pointed to the paper again and tapped on it without words. We had just driven 5 hours and would have appreciated some hospitality...but that wasn't a deal breaker. Upon check in, the property and room were clean and up to standard for a Best Western. The room did have some stray ants. A bit annoying but again, not a deal breaker for the place. However the next morning at 6:15am, while we were still in bed, our door opens (luckily the top security latch was closed). I figured it was the maid and that they would realize the mistake...but the person trying to enter kept closing and trying to push the door open. I jumped up and went over and saw through the crack that it was a couple with luggage. They had been given the key to our room! I spoke to them and told them that the front desk had made a mistake and that the room was occupied. They apologized and were visibly pretty shaken (but not as much as I was!). I immediately called the front desk. Surprise! It was the same lady that checked us in. I told her that she had given other guests our key. She asked for the room number, which I gave. She then said "ok, bye!" and hung up! No apology whatsoever!! I called back and admonished her for hanging up on me and told her that it was not ok. She first asked for my last name. Really? I had just given you my room number on the last call. I said "you know my name, I just called!" She said "ok, sorry. What do you want?" The nerve! The expectations for a hotel stay or rather simple. You want to clean room, a nice bed, some simple amenities, good Internet, and maybe even breakfast in the morning and affordable price. The Best Western Plus exceeded my expectations and each of these areas exponentially. Let's start with check-in. Check in with smooth and very professional. I had a question and the clerk contacted the manager who was extremely professional, polite and wanting to please her guest. Right there to stay started off on the perfect foot. My room was very clean and well-maintained. The bed was perfect for my comfort level. What I think I enjoyed the most was that is the first time in a hotel that I was able to take a shower that actually produced enough water to rinse the soap and shampoo out of my hair and off my body. If you like a good shower and a great bed and a clean room this alone is a perfect location for you. The hotel also provides a free breakfast in the morning. It's not extravagant or over-the-top but just enough to get you on your way. They have breakfast sandwiches available, waffles, and an array of fruit, toast, oatmeal, and all of the traditional morning drinks. In addition the USA today newspaper is there available for you. Each day during my stay the manager was very visible and ensuring that my stay was going great. She was constantly greeting every guest and check in with them. We stayed at the Best Western in Tehachapi to attend a funeral. My husband was bit by bed bugs on his back. We really didn't notice until we got home. We called to let them know.and was told they'd call me back; never got a call back. I completed the survey and mentioned it and all I got was a response that they were sorry they didn't meet our expectations. That's all we get. I'll never ever stay at any. Best western again. Best Western is neighbors with my favorite hotel in Tehachapi and I thought I might give it a try. On first glance the layout was severely disappointing - the interior designer should be reprimanded for such poor color matching. I felt like I was stepping into a motel rather than a hotel, what with the white lights and cheap colors. + AAA discount is 107$ (wo tax) for either suite or regular. The price goes up for 2 queen beds. + For a limited time, stay three times get the fourth time free! (Deal ends April 2013) + I wasn't particularly impressed with the customer service, which were nice and automatic without being friendly. I know I am an awkward person but together, the front counter and I make the most awkward silences. + LOVE that some food and fruit are kept out after breakfast hours so people don't starve at 3am. + The kitchen area looks like a diner and complimentary breakfast (6-9am 7 days a week) includes pastries, make your own waffles, eggs (or cheesy eggs), sausage (or ham), pancakes, cereals, oatmeal, yogurt, and best western brand sausage mcmuffins. + USA today newspaper available at front desk + Hotel is nonsmoking + Room has coffee maker, microwave, huge mini fridge with at least five different compartments + Toilet has an emergency phone next to it + Provided toiletries include: conditioning shampoo, lotion, facial soap and hand soap + If forgotten, can get: toothbrush, toothpaste, shaving gel, razors, sanitary napkins, conditioner, shower caps and combs + Gym is from 6am to 10pm and has a sauna! It is small and contains a huge guy machine (instead of free weights), a treadmill, something for the legs, an elliptical and a bicycle. Love the sauna, dislike the limited times. + Outdoors there is a swimming pool (open from 10-10), a jacuzzi, tables and chairs and tanning chairs. - Internet is complimentary but so slow and keeps cutting out. I was very highly annoyed. - Room layout was severely disappointing as well. My suite looked pretty much like a regular at the hotel next door. The carpet was stained though there is a sign that promises ultra cleaning after each visit so the stains might be there to stay. - Towels smell like chlorine - Check in at 3pm and check out at 11am. Not too sure how I ended up with so many pluses, but I will give this place a *three because I was NOT impressed. I am too nice. At 9am I was about to doze off again but realized the checkout was at 11am and needed to hustle. I don't care for the 11am check out. Zero stars if possible. I reserved one night (October 3, 2022) for my traveling parents. ​My father was battling cancer at the time and was traveling for treatment. My mother checked them in and about 10 minutes after, my father had a medical emergency and they checked out. I spoke with the hotel desk clerk and requested SEVERAL times for a refund since they did not use the room. The Mgr never called back to resolve the issue - always an excuse for not being available. I tried through Expedia (where I booked it) and the Mgr never responded to them. Mixed feelings. Check In was fine, didn't experience any issues with customer service. The room appeared clean and bathroom showed signs of acceptable renovation. Breakfast was standard BW spread. I was fully prepared to give a 5-star review for our stay, but when my husband did the last look-over for personal belongings, he found someone else's women's underwear behind the accent chair. Rooms and property was very good. The price is good too. The aspect of these hotel that is negative is the front desk and customer service in general. Three separate times the tint desk was unmanned and it seemed to be about a five minute wait but someone arrived. The broken English spoken by the manager was a huge distraction and many questions my group had went unanswered due to the inability to comprehend what she was telling us. While our group was in the lobby the manager was on her cell phone speaking in an Asian language in a loud manner, creating an unpleasant and unprofessional environment. We had a great stay here for our family mini vacation.(Sept 21-22) The check-in woman was friendly and informative. Check in was quick and easy. The room was clean with everything in its place. We had a king room with sofa bed. The king bed was nice and comfy with four pillows. The sofa bed was a little springy but fine for the kids. We had a mini fridge and small microwave. As well as coffee maker, hair dryer, iron, and ironing board. Water pressure in the shower was nice; pleanty of hot water! The bathroom was a good size. There's a pool and spa area. Small fitness room and sauna. The breakfast in the morning was good. Waffles, eggs, ham, sausage, oatmeal, muffins, and breads. Apple juice, orange juice, coffee, water, and tea. Hot coco too! Just got back from a weekend wedding in Bear Valle, and we decided to stay at this inn. Hotel room was very clean and spacious, comfortable large bed, nice large bathroom with plenty of towels. The free continental breakfast was better than I've had before and honestly better than I expected. Free wifi for guests as well! Checking in was quick and easy, and the hotel itself was very pleasant and in a safe area. There are extra blankets provided but we didn't find them until we were packing up to leave. Chances are if you visit in summer like we did, you won't need them anyway. Slight issue with the noise from the air conditioner, but definitely a decent place to stay. read more

We stay in Tehachapi often and have sampled the limited variety of lodging choices in town. Wanting to be walking distance from downtown, but not wanting to stay at the Best Western Mountain Inn again (it's seen better days), we picked its new shiny next door neighbor, another Best Western. This hotel was built fairly recently and has all the qualities you want to see when you drive up: new building, new parking lot, living landscaping, etc. The lobby is nice too. We checked in at 1 a.m. and requested late check-out. Now, normal checkout is 11 a.m. (does anyone know when hotels stealthily changed the industry standard from 12 p.m. to 11 a.m.? Cuz it's lame) but since we checked in so late, we thought it'd be ok to check out late. The desk clerk said 1 p.m. We'd try. The hotel rooms are standard. They have microwaves and mini-fridges which are handy. I like that there's a separate sink outside of the bathroom. They seemed to have forgotten to put soap dishes in the showers. Details... Anyway, hotel room is fine. Wi-fi is good and fast. Even continental breakfast is good. Those rock hard sausage sandwiches turn into moist warm gooey treats when nuked for 30 seconds. That's all good. Back to late checkout. At promptly 1 p.m., as we were packing up to leave the room, we get a call from the desk clerk simply asking whether she should charge us for another night. WTF? Seriously, like your maid staff has NO OTHER ROOMS to clean in the whole entire hotel and you had to hassle us? We finished putting on our shoes in the lobby. Bottom line: Next time we stay in Tehachapi, we'll be at the Holiday Inn Express across the highway where late checkout is 2 p.m., they give you two free bottles of water at check-in, there's free wi-fi, and there's a hot breakfast bar included. read more

This is an awful hotel. Rude desk clerks and horrifying management. I stayed at the Best Western Country Park Hotel from Jan 29th 2009 to Jan 31st 2009. Previous posts adequately describe the hotel's accommodations. However, Kay Yoo, the manager and owner of the Tehachapi Country Park Hotel, failed completely and utterly to resolve a dispute I had with her staff's failure to perform adequate cleaning services. Rather than fulfill my request for a refund, she proceeded to verbally abuse me to the point where I was forced to call the Tehachapi Police department to calm her down. Kay Yoo claimed I was lying to her about her staff's failure to clean my room and made threatening gestures. She continued to deny my request for a refund and I had to request that the police escort me through her establishment so that I could collect my belongings and leave her premises. I'd rather stay at the town's shady RancMotel than deal with Yoo's attitude. read more

So, having limited lodging choices in Tehachapi I picked this Best Western. FYI the other Tehachapi Best Western is next door to this one, but way more run down looking. I had a suite, which was a larger room with a sitting area and a desk. In the room there was a microwave, and a fridge (that they forget to give me the key to). The air conditioning unit was right next to the bed which was a bit annoying since I couldn't get it set at a comfortable temperature. I also thought that the room was a bit dark, even with all the lights on I didn't think there was enough light in the room. They have a free breakfast in the morning, which was nice. Self serve style, yogurt, cereal, pastries, bagels, and a make your own waffle station. So..... if you have to stay in Tehachapi pick this Best Western, or the Holiday Inn Express right off the freeway, anything else might be a bit shady! read more

While shopping around for a place to stay during a road trip to Death Valley, I checked this place out on Yelp. As far as I can tell, there are two Best Westerns in this town. This is the better one. The staff was very helpful and friendly, in fact everyone seemed to enjoy their job. The management must be keeping the staff happy. The room was very clean and the amenities were about right for this category. The refrigerator is very helpful also. We didn't use the in-room coffee maker since there was coffee in the little dining area. The beds were the best we've been in. These were a Simmons hotel mattress with a plush top. I'm a side sleeper and conked out right away. The pillows are also great. Breakfast was a treat and although it was a standard for this type of place, it was well kept and stocked. There was some fresh fruit along with eggs, sausage and the infamous 2-minute waffle maker. Coffee was plentiful and the staff attended to replenishing the food items and keeping it super clean. I give these folks a lot of credit. Overall the experience is very positive and appreciate the clean facility and the friendly staff. One can't get too picky, after all, this is Tehachapi. When traveling through this area, I'll use this Best Western again. read more
